  1. It's not a game breaker, but it's one of the funny instances where PMD takes an utterly unremarkable move and makes it Actually Good(TM). Like Dayni said, during regular exploration, it basically two-shots everything, even as I'm currently running through the final dungeon of the main story (there is a bunch of "postgame", including story, but still). And because bosses tend to have higher stats than your average enemy, regular moves might not even hit them for that much damage, especially when you're at a type disadvantage. I don't quite remember what the numbers against Groudon were, but I think TROGDOR's Ember (boosted by Groudon's ability) dealt roughly the same amount of damage, as did Roshi's Ice Beam (which is an expensive TM that you aren't even guaranteed to find in the shop). I'll see what Rayquaza is going to look like. Add to that that ranged attacks aren't too common - Squirtle having a very early one in Bubble (another move that's Actually Good(TM) in PMD) is a pretty big point in its favour, for example.
  2. Oh, and: _ Odd fight, this one - Groudon hit Roshi with a Mud Shot early in the fight, which means that he was slowed down almost the entire time. TROGDOR just spammed Smokescreen, because the slow effect also meant that I couldn't safely swap him back to Ember. Main damage dealer: Faraday the Magnemite (Magnemite being a natural Groudon counter, I'm sure) with Sonic Boom, which for whatever reason deals 55 damage in PMD, while being a ranged attack. I do have to question the AI, though - I told Magnemite to "go after foes" so that it could Supersonic Groudon for maximum disruption, but it refused to move even when Sonic Boom was deselected. Oh well, still one shot 😎 Oh, and it's really nice to see, or at least be able to heavily suspect, that there's a Monster Room coming up. The ability to tell your companions to stay in place makes it so much less threatening, since you can just back off and take on the enemies one by one in the hallway. Ah, but for Arran/Samson, just getting one of them is already the theoretical optimum. But now, a true completionist MUST field every possible combination of characters on every map, to make sure that they don't miss the super-duper important +1 Skl for Joshua that he gets by talking to Marisa in chapter 19! I like his funny words, too, magic man
  3. I like your funny words, magic man Completionists right now:
  4. It's his birdsona, obviously Live Long And Prosperlay Video Games
  5. I do enjoy a little chaos and madness... Regardless, good luck to everybody involved. You might need it.
  6. Heretical Birthday, @Sooks! ("heretical" means that there shall be a lot of cookies) -- _ _ _ _
  7. If only Magnemite would come along during the refugee part of the game =( Thunderwave is kinda late (Lv.21) but Supersonic already saved my bacon in the Zapdos fight.
  8. A few centuries later, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy used tritones as basically a Leitmotif (before Wagner stole that idea!) for something coming right from the heavens... namely, a drought that god cursed Israel with, as punishment for the king and queen worshipping the evil Bhaal and the people going along with it. Right at the start of the Elias, the titular prophet proclaims the curse with two falling tritones directly following each other (C-F#-G-C#); the motif then returns when the choir, as the Israeli people, laments the curse. When Elias announces that the curse will soon end (after an epic showdown against the Bhaal priests, of course), it's changed to a tritone followed by a perfect quint (Eb-A-Bb-Eb).
  9. _ _ Haste effect with Agility, a room-wide attack in Powder Snow (which two-shots through Squirtle and Charmander's resistances), and direct one-shot potential with Gust. #FairAndBalanced TROGDOR is still two levels away from Smokescreen, which would at least give me decent odds - Charmander levels a bit slower than Squirtle, so he's still at Lv. 17 and Smokescreen comes at Lv.19. I guess I'll loop through the first half (well, two thirds) of the dungeon a few times... I guess I must have played through the game with Cyndaquil as either main character or partner Pokémon back then. It gets Smokescreen almost immediately, at Lv.6. It's kinda funny that a move that's basically just a tool for the AI to annoy you with is so incredibly OP in Mystery Dungeon.
  10. Sure, but only if you played Ironman-LTC on the hardest difficulty. If you do the same for New Mystery, I might even be impressed. Hope you enjoyed yourself. I like SD - as minimalistic as the story is, I think it's much more well-written than most other FE games. Bonus points for throwing a lot of Fire Emblem story conventions out of the window. Plus, I think it's interesting how much better the maps in OG Mars Emblem were than in Gaiden.
  11. I would much rather have been the Pixies to your Nirvana and/or Radiohead, but alas, I suck That is a very roundabout way of saying "I will kill your father". Although multicolour Garon would realistically set up a meeting for negotiations of some sort, instead of going into one's house.
  12. ^that one, of course. Of the pure blue examples... yeah, I think New Mystery is the best one.
  13. I'm absolutely taking credit for the two-colour hair pfp trend. Too bad I'm devoid of any artistic talent. Well, I got its friend area before embarking on the mission, but I didn't run in circles to recruit one. Maybe I would have if Zapdos had proven to be too difficult, but Faraday's (Magnemite's) Supersonic turned out to be enough. Squirtle having range with Bubble also helped a bit, since that gave me a free hit at the start of the fight, plus one or two more when Zapdos was running around in confusion.
  14. That's why the Reed brothers in Blazing Blade are among the few Camü-y characters that I really like. (Since I'm not sure if Quetzal has played BlaBla, I'll continue in spoilers) ♫Tell me why? Ain't nothing but a mistake ♫ ♫Tell me why I never want to hear you say ♫ THE EMPEROR PROTECTS
  15. Unrelated: FIrst attempt, only attempt 😎 Ignore the two times where Roshi died to a random Electrike on the way here
  16. Um excuse you, you're supposed to be impressed by his knoble knobleness and feel sympathy for Camüü's tragedy in which he just had no choice at all! (I'm not the greatest fan of the Camus archetype) (Why, of course it's an archetype. What in Fire Emblem isn't?)
  17. Córdoba or Cork, as long as it's France...
  18. Maybe I should've gone with "once Americans stop pretending to be Canadian while on vacation in Europe" instead to avoid the discussion.
  19. Being of [xyz] descent isn't the same as being [xyz]. Maybe it's just that the phrasing of "I am 19.5% German!!!" that's weird (to me, at least) - I definitely have no issue at all if somebody takes interest in Germany after learning that they have German ancestry, but if it causes them to declare that they are German, without even knowing anything about the country beyond Hitler and Oktoberfest, let alone speaking the language... that's weird. To me, at least. WDYM, I thought you would visit your local leprechaun every Sunday to reflect on all the great things that Ireland gave to the world. Like how you invented potatoes in 150 BC.
  20. I believe that once Americans stop insisting that actually they're Irish, German, Italian and (not or) Scottish, so how dare you just call me American, we're really much more Irish over here than those people in Ireland who don't even uphold our glorious culture!
