  1. ダークプリンス is now Nohr Prince グレートナイト is Great Knight メイド is Maid 鬼人 is Oni Savage 侍 is Samurai 金棒 are Clubs 刀 are Katana 暗器 are Kunai 手裏剣 are Shuriken Orochi's rat-magic-fan-thing is called 鼠神・子 in Japanese, which means "Rat God - First Earthly Branch." And finally, the capitol of Nohr is Castle Krakenburg, and Kaze has the skill "Miraculous Save," which appears to function as Miracle for his dual partner. I didn't catch what 忍 was; did anyone else?
  2. I looked at the E3 site; it seems it's true! No doubt it'll be put on YouTube by Nintendo themselves after it's done streaming.
  3. We also had a short glimpse of the dark sword we saw Kamui using in the most recent trailer... only this time it was all lit up:
  4. I'd like to see the confirmation that there are no romance options, although that's not likely to be directly confirmed. I've been wanting to know more about class trees; I'm meh about reclassing and multiple-choice promotions, but it'd be nice to have a sense of the available options nonetheless. Also, regarding others' comments: didn't we already see somewhere that the magic fans were called 魔符 (mafu/"magic tags")?
  5. Good spotting! I'll move him into Benoit's spot. How could I have forgotten that loveable old creeper!I think I'll just put the chart in a spoiler in my sig from now on. Though to be honest, does anybody actually care about it? Most of it's on the main site anyway...
  6. I'm half-expecting there to be a "Execute Suzukaze?" choice; though given that it's likely before the route split, killing him would probably make Saizou not so happy...
  7. He's new. Name unknown. Has it been explicitly confirmed anywhere that the man-full-of-arrows was in fact King Sumeragi?
  8. So far, we've got: ピンクの帽子 Pink Hat 魔道士の冠 Mage's Cap プリンセスリボン Princess's Ribbon 頭巾 Hood 素朴のカーチフ Simple Kerchief 花の髪飾り Flower Hair Ornament 大きなクシ Big Comb 忍の覆面 Shinobi Facemask 案山子のお面 Scarecrow Mask 丸メガネ Round Glasses 十字の眼帯 Zero's Eyepatch 鬼のお面 Ogre Mask 革のマスク Leather Mask (I don't have pictures, though.) EDIT: Apparently copy-pasting from a spreadsheet isn't a good idea.
  9. Here's my compilation of characters. Tell me if I missed anyone (besides Robin and Lucina)!
  10. So it turns out the pink things on Pieri's head were dyed pigtails! Who'd have thought? I've been working under the assumption that they were earmuffs or something. She looks a lot less like Ayanami Rei than I'd expected, too.
  11. I've had a change of heart, more or less. After consulting with various groups on the interwebz, I've decided to go basically vanilla and call the swords Reeve, Salia, Canaan, and Leda (their sword-ness being made clear from contex) and the spears Salian Spear, Ledan Spear, and Canaanite Spear. (This also frees up the former "Solblade" to be just Sol again.) This was a nice talk; let's do it again some time.
  12. I'm all for new inspirations! So far we've had Mongol Sacae and Italian Carcino. I can't think of any other big examples, but I felt a bit of "Gaels vs. English" vibes in the Western Isles vs. Etruria conflict, and maybe Verdane supposed to be Mongol, but that's it.
  13. The "Calibur" was shortened from Excalibur, actually. Following along this line of thought, I've begun to consider various mythological names related to either lore surrounding the weapons/their origins or their effects. Fortunately, Hindu tradition has gods of all the four elements and weapons (astrani) associated with each of them. 聖剣リーヴェ Varunastra; the weapon of Varuna, the water-god, since Reeve is the kingdom associated with water 聖剣サリア Agneyastra; the weapon of Agni, the fire-god, since Salia is the kingdom associated with fire 聖剣カナン Vayvayastra; the weapon of Vayu, the wind-god, since Reeve is the kingdom associated with wind 聖剣レダ Bhaumastra; the weapon of Bhumi, the earth-god, since Leda is the kingdom associated with wind I also considered naming them Caliburn[us], Caledfwlch, Calesvol, and Kaledvoulc'h, which are all just old names for Excalibur, and all the swords are found basically sword-in-the-stone style. (Just so everyone knows: don't bother ranting at me that Excalibur usually isn't the sword in the stone. I know that.) Three of these four kingdoms also have spears associated with them, but they are entirely unimportant: サリアの槍 Falarica? Luin [Celtchair]? Aréadbhair?; (it's basically a better version of this game's Brave Lance, so I was hoping to use something fire-related instead for Salia). カナンの槍 Solspear; since it has the innate Sol/Nosferatu ability (I can't just go with Sol, since there's also the Solblade) レダの槍 Rhongomiant; the holy spear of King Arthur, since it's effective against monsters and halves all damage (there's already a weaker weapon called Blessed Lance, so I can't use that name) None of these names are set in stone; I'm just brainstorming. At the moment, I'm leaning toward the four Excaliburs or just keeping Seiken ___. I'm still open to other ideas people might have!
  14. Just so everyone knows, I've closed the Muse-Mousa question; my final choice is Mousa. Sorry to disappoint those who preferred Muse. -------------------- Here's something a little more open-ended: There are four swords made from the shattered ユトナの聖剣 (Holy Sword of Yutona), named after the four kingdoms: 聖剣リーヴェ holy sword of Reeve 聖剣サリア holy sword of Salia 聖剣レダ holy sword of Leda 聖剣カナン holy sword of Canaan Currently, on the FE Wiki, they're listed as Seiken Reeve, etc., and in the old patch, they're Reeve Calibur, etc. Do you guys have any thoughts on how these swords could be named in a not-so-corny way in the translation? At the moment, ___ Calibur seems acceptable, but it lacks a sort of succinctness that the names of other swords in the FE series have.
  15. I just realized that I forgot to address this!I can definitely see how it could be seen that way, given they way I phrased it. Here's a second attempt: It is our responsibility to instruct and advise others as to the correct morals. You cannot truly force someone to convert or reform, and it is immoral to try, but everyone should be informed of the truth (regardless of whether they believe it or not). EDIT: I seem to be getting a tad off-topic from the thread. If anyone wants to further chat about stuff, feel free to PM me about it.
  16. To all those who have asked for an elaboration, here you go. The paragraphs are spoilered to save space, but should be read in order. [spoiler=Marriage and Sex]Human sexuality is inseparable from marriage (that is, the sacrament of marriage, not "civil unions"). Its purpose is twofold: to unite man and wife as one body, and to enable married couples to participate in the act of creation in making more humans. This is the foundation of human sexuality. The couple must also be open to parenthood, as all married people are--very often literal parenthood, but in this case more generally meaning a vocation to instruct the next generation(s) and pass on the faith to them. Marriage is a divinely sanctioned sacrament that is unchangeably focused on this spiritual parenthood. In this way, even infertile married couples are--when fulfilling their duties--parents and are not objectionable. [spoiler=Couldn't find a good spot to put these part, but here is good]Romantic relationships serve the purpose of helping someone find a suitable spouse. It is irresponsible and immoral to stay in a relationship with someone you have no intent to marry; remaining in that relationship would be using the other person--essentially hedonism. In this way, romance and marriage are inextricably linked. Someone asked about homosexual animals like bonobos or some penguins. Non-human animals cannot be held to moral standards because animals have not been gifted with rational souls capable of understanding morality. [spoiler=Final Point]All science points to homosexuality as being an inborn trait (save for in those cases few and far between where someone late in life abandons opposite-sex attraction, often because of abuse). Humans can't be held accountable for such things completely out of their control, and so simply being homosexual cannot be a sin. However, homosexual relationships go against the foundations of human sexuality in that same-sex couples cannot be married (despite any "civil marriages" sanctioned by governments), and same-sex couples cannot form the proper "parental unit," which by divine order must be a husband and wife, and thus can never be spiritual parents in any sense, REGARDLESS of their ability to raise adopted children to adulthood.
  17. Not actually the case. That quotation is always taken out of context. The specific passage is telling people not to judge without first addressing the same fault in themselves. It is actually our responsibility to correct others who have strayed from the path of righteousness. I don't expect to convert anyone, nor was my desire to spark a religious debate (though I wouldn't have been surprised if it had); I only intend to give my reasons and to show the other end of the spectrum, since this thread has been overwhelmingly pro-LGBT. As for "leave religion out of this," I would find it irresponsible to not bring religion into this, since it is the only truly important part of my life, and thus a major part of who I am.And now that I've said my piece, I'm just going to go back to my normal excited fan self. EDIT: Didn't see this before. Hooray, I'm not alone! I must say, I'm really exited about the game. I won't be boycotting or anything if LGBT stuff is in it, since A) I can ignore it, and B) IntSys would not be daring enough to push it at all in such a high-publicity game. I really do have positive expectations of the games, even the Hoshido half.
  18. At the risk of being flamed to death and it having it held against me forever after: As a Catholic, while I am not against the existence of homosexuals, I am firmly against homosexual relationships on moral grounds. Romantic relationships are meant to find spouses, and so relationships that are not open to--or that cannot lead to--marriage are morally reprehensible.
  19. I imagine they're for the streetpass battles, yeah. It'd be fun if you could put mages on them to attack with extra range, like doing Guard Stance with a guard tower. Felicia: "YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL MAGIC TOWERS."
  20. @OP: Pointing out that increased strategy ideas are being implemented alongside the fanservice-y ones does nothing to make me feel better about it because I don't believe the latter should be there in the first place, at least not in any significant amount. It should not exist, and so the fact that it does is troubling. As someone else said in another thread, "You're better than this, Fire Emblem." Think back to the "fanservice" that existed in, say, Sacred Stones. The only things that come to my mind that could possibly be construed as fanservice are the handful of romantic paired endings and the comic relief of some characters/supports. That is the amount of class that I want in the media that I consume, and I have grown to expect that higher quality of media from Fire Emblem. I am willing to reserve final judgement until I play the game, but the potential for that to disappear in a series that I care about is cause enough for me to be somewhat concerned. That's just having basic standards.
  21. Is that a giant rafflesia in the bottom right?
  22. If someone gets relegated to a gaiden chapter instead of a main chapter (like all the children characters except for Lucina were) and it's done badly story-wise (as it was), the sidequest feels very out of place in the narrative. Furthermore, since the children were missable, the they were not brought up later in Awakening's story in any significant way; this minimizes the amount of work needed to write the script, since they're not doing anything like if Inigo.recruited() = true: print message It can be done well, but IS has a recent history of not-so-good examples.
  23. I believe that Belka's ability is Ambush (奇襲攻撃), which is not the same as Vantage (待ち伏せ).
  24. Should've realized this sooner, but Severa = セレナ --> Selēnē, the Greek moon goddess whose Roman equivalent was... drumroll please... Luna.
