  1. I'd be in favor of: Limit the amount that pairing up can boost stats to, say, no more than +2 (plus innate class bonuses). Make it so the carried character can get hurt when attacked during dual guards. (To prevent getting screwed by this, dual guard must not trigger if it would kill the guarder.) Greatly nerf the amount of damage dual attacks can do. Say, half of normal damage. And possibly: Enemies can freely attack either unit, though with a penalty if they choose the carried unit.
  2. I didn't even know that Jaffar was recruitable until I saw him on one of my friend's Link Arena teams. T_THow would you guys feel about FE5's mechanic where if one or more of your units gets captured, you go do a sidequest to rescue them near the endgame?
  3. My roommate has expressed his disdain for the two-version thing, but I honestly don't have an opinion on the matter. I am past the point where I would care how much it costs to get the games. From a monetary standpoint, have become blind consumer of Fire Emblem. #noregrets
  4. In light of the apparent no-durability system, they could make Braves have 1 or 2 might and 65ish accuracy, so despite getting extra attacks, you have to rely heavily on the character's Str and Skl to use them effectively.
  5. I'd like it if Nohr is only being evil because of something done by Hoshido. For example, Hoshido has developed life-saving magical techniques but keeps practice of them limited to a choice few, and refuses to share the knowledge with anyone else.
  6. Ah, forgive my misunderstanding. Indeed, the Nils requirement is just awful from every angle. I'm fond of the requirements for Night of Farewells. Can be tricky business, that one. (For those who don't recall, it's: recruit a lv. 10 Mage, then get her to talk to an NPC who's surrounded by enemies, only has a 20-uses Killing Edge, and is in real danger of getting killed, then ensure both of them survive the chapter. Also, it's fog-of-war.)
  7. "Kill this tough but completely optional boss" seems like a fine Gaiden requirement to me. Figuring out that you have to kill Kishuna in one turn is pretty easy, too (though possibly rage-inducing). I agree with you about Nils, though.I'd like to have FE7's general system of Gaidens, both in terms of requirements (minus getting Nils to lv. 7) and fitting fluidly into the plot. FE12's and especially FE13's sidequests were completely off-topic and detracted from the main story, which didn't help the already iffy plotlines.
  8. Plot twist when Garon is Kamui's real father, and Kamui is actually an emiyu.
  9. I said "a little evil," but I'll definitely be doing additional playthroughs where I'm saintly or where I'm worse than Loptyr. That is, presuming that we'll be getting real choices (which seems to be the case) and not Awakening choices.
  10. Apparently Kozaki drew three of the TCG cards: Jugdral Anthology Lewyn/Levin, Leif/Leaf, and Sara! I think it'd be fun to have Koya Katsuyoshi (the artist for most of the TCG cards) come back and draw a few of the newer characters in his own style.
  11. I'd say I dig most of his designs, but some of them not so much. I like Kamui's, minus the two left feet.
  12. It's 夜刀神, which is "night-katana-god." An odd name for sure. "Night" no doubt refers to Hoshido and Nohr being the "white night" and "dark night," but "katana-god" is beyond me.If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say that the sword itself contains a god, which could be the Mouth of Truth from the first trailer, or (really going out on a limb here) maybe even Mila from Gaiden. Edit: I suppose it could be "god of the night-sword" or "sword-god of the night."
  13. I'm all for multiplayer, so long as it's an afterthought, i.e., it doesn't cut into development time that could be spent on the normal campaign. Also, I imagine that you won't be able to recruit Streetpassed units in Black version Nohr--at least until postgame--in order to prevent importation of difficulty-breaking units.
  14. Let's talk voice actors! Throughout the trailer, I recognized several of the voice actors by ear, but I barely know any of their names, and it's generally hard for me to place who else they've voiced. Can additional people help me on this? The speaking characters in the 1 April trailer are: Garon Dancer Lady (singing, and likely the game titles) Marx Ryouma Sakura Hoshidan archer dude These characters also spoke, but only single lines: Queen of Hoshido ("yokatta") Camilla ("daijoubu?") Nohrian twintailed imouto ("onii-chan!") Kazahana ("atarimae da yo!") Tsubaki ("hai") Orochi ("taihen ja!") male Kamui ("son'na...") I'll update this post upon further discoveries. Updates: Marx - Koyasu Takehito Hoshidan archer - Kaji Yuuki
  15. *Nohrian dark knights whacking enemies with enormous books from horseback* 11/10 would use If we get a priest named Miroku that uses a shakujou and wind-magic prayer beads, I would be ecstatic. I agree, light and dark magic would match Hoshido and Nohr perfectly. It'd work well with FE4's magic system, too (where light and dark are rare, but both beat fire/thunder/wind and are equal to each other). Also, since Byakuya 白夜 (Hoshido) and An'ya 暗夜 (Nohr) can mean "summer night" and "winter night," respectively, I'd like to see some season- or solar-based magic theming for the S-rank weapons. Actually, we have seen Orochi use a spell with a rat-shaped effect, which could mean spells indeed corresponding to Chinese zodiac signs (although I will admit that Orochi is Hoshidan, and the Rat is a winter sign).
  16. I want her to do something crazy awesome, like be a Nohrian mole in the Hoshidan party and later stab Kamui in the back. That would be far better than "cutesy maid who follows me around and serves me unconditionally," since that's dull as hell.
  17. I (and of course, others) have noticed since the original trailer that there are new weapon "types," corresponding to a sort of East vs. West duality that we now know is realized in Hoshido vs. Nohr: 剣 (tsurugi/ken, sword) vs. 刀 (katana) 槍 (yari, spear) vs. 薙刀 (naginata, glaive) 斧 (ono, axe) vs. 金棒 (kanabo, metal club) We've also seen: magical tomes, used by the Nohrian mage party member magical fans, used by Orochi and an enemy of hers an odd winged knife, used by a heretofore unnamed green-haired assassin the standard 弓 (yumi, bow) used by the now bow-wielding Thieves fought by Kazahana glowy-glowy swords used by Marx, Ryouma, and Full-of-Arrows-man an odd staff seen in Sakura's map icon and cover art that makes her appear different from "normal clerics" (that is, the two maids) the dragonstone (竜石) a unique sword in Kamui's possession that I've taken to calling the Nohr Godsword (夜刀神) What other weapon varieties do you guys expect to see in the future of FEif? Do you think ballistae will ever return? Offensive staves? Either of the trinities of magic? Will my desire for symmetry of variety between weapon classes ever be satisfied, or will swords remain the most numerous forever?
  18. Until I am proven wrong, I will insist that it's Ayanami Rei wearing some big pink headphones. But actually, I think it's just a weird spiky pauldron or neck-armor-piece.
  19. When I first saw it, I thought it was showing how well Kamui was doing in comparison to average growths.
  20. Kamui in Gaiden and if are indeed both カムイ (kamui), but Awakening Robin is ルフレ (rufure) while Gaiden Robin is ロビン (robin).
  21. I love how Gaiden set things up to be one way and the truth turns out to be the opposite. Setup: "Zofia is peaceful and good. Rigel is warmongering and evil." - Zofia is embroiled in civil war at the beginning of the story. We also learn in Part 3 that the king of Zofia was an asshole and basically legally raped his wife. - King Rudolf may be an insane chessmaster/well-intentioned extremist, but he genuinely cares about the people of his kingdom. Also, anyone who's not in Judah's posse seems pretty chill. Setup: "Mila is good. Duma is evil." - Mila is, at the very least, irresponsible. It's implied that the Zofians are entirely dependent on Mila for their crops; Mila seems to have spiritually bound the herself to the land, too, so much so that when she is sealed away, the land begins rotting. - Ex-Pontifex Hark is proof that the Church of Duma is not actually evil; it's just Judah and his cronies. Duma himself gracefully accepts his defeat and admits that both he and Mila had been leading mankind astray. I hope that FE14 does the same sort of the same stuff.
  22. Include: - Weapon Weight (but don't make female characters awful). - Fire-Thunder-Wind trinity (or better yet, Radiant Dawn's double Trinity of Magic). - Varied maps, both in goals and in terrain. - Alternate routes (for extra replay value!) - Yuka Tsujiyoko. - Offensive staves. - Enemy reinforcements that will make me wish I'd worn my brown pants. - Varying promotion items. - Sidequests! Not paralogues--proper sidequests with challenging trigger conditions, like FE5 and FE7. - A Fire Emblem that isn't the Shield of Seals. Exclude: - the Lebensborn project - Reclassing. Failing that, just let it be FE11/12's, not FE13's. That way I can safely ignore it. - FE10's skills system - Unlimited supports per character - Griffons Nerf: - Pair up.
  23. Considering that he says "I'm Ryouma, your older brother," I'd say yes. Though going by hair color, Rinka (far right) looks more like Kamui's sibling than Ryouma...
  24. In the hype thread, I figured out some numbers; I'll move that info here: Also, here's the character chart, like I made last time. Now with 100% less made-up names! Finally, note that in one of the stat pictures, it shows that Thieves (シーフ) can only use bows.
