  1.  @Maaka

Good to see, it works out for you. And good job putting it in action this fast and flawless.

How you handled those reds was pretty impressive. 160 lift matches seem like overkill to reach tier 19 so you are in a nice spot if you can keep that up.

Is the next season already announced? It would be strange to rotate out the only season we can actually use right now.

Still in the process of getting all the supports grinded up, but I'll let you know later today. My Myrrh is currently +6 thanks to legendary Hector hunting (+0 of him though lol, but I like Myrrh more anyway). It really stinks that F Grima can't be used here, because she would be just as good, if not better really. Dragonskin would really help out and the colorless status is too good. I feel like I'm going to have a major problem if I run into a falchion user, but we'll see.

Another alternative I thought of was Hack O Lantern Beruka, but I don't have the right IVs and Myrrh was almost all set with her skills.

    Ok, thanks.

I'm sorry you didn't get any Hectors.

I am still dreading running into one of those Horse Chrom teams, but so far it didn't happen.

Beruka is a nice idea but will not work for me right now, they all died for lunge and my feathers will most likely be taken by Aversa merges.

  3. 31 minutes ago, Kruggov said:

From what Maaka wrote earlier, that's only 1 lift per merge. Thank god the effect from merges is minor...

I am glad it's not more and they could have made it way worse, but it still baffles me how they try to push mythic heroes who are at disadvantage in AA and Arena and are only normal units that can't be blessed in all other content, with only Aether Raids, which gives only grails (which are great, true), but not that many depend on being at the absolute top.

    17 minutes ago, Maaka said:

The offense one doesn't seem too bad if you use the right units. We are given a free Eir, so if you grab a second one from the current hero fest, you can get at least 40 extra lift per raid. Currently going to try to use Myrrh with distant counter and two Eir, both with ward fliers. Eir will give a light blessed unit +5 hp and +5 res, so that's +10 hp and res to Myrrh from the two Eir and her defense is already crazy high. Add in ward fliers and all the other summoner/ally support bonuses, plus whatever I have on my other two units and she could potentially just tank everything. Hopefully the only stuff I have to worry about is dazzling staff and firesweep, or maybe stall teams. I managed to get 2 extra Eir from the banner, so I might just throw the extra blessing on my bonus unit for now. Most likely using Loki as my 5th unit just for healing and slowing down potential healers.

Does that work out for you? How merged is your Myrrh?

I might go for a second Eir on the Hero Fest to give me a better shot at tier 19 (thanks for losing one day this season btw), but I am really sad about losing F Grima because of the new blessings, she did so much work. I have to find a good replacement, my Myrrh is only +1. sigh

Defensive blessings are 1 point per mythic merge (max 20) + 4 points per blessed hero per mythic hero (max 2 mythic heroes). Should cap out at 52 lift loss reduced, which is a 65% reduction from the typical 80.

    Thanks a lot.

So then -32 with two unmerged mythic heroes and 4 blessings will have to suffice for me.

In my only defense match I had to defend against this, and I had a huge red tank. Couldn't even scratch it. This is the definition of disgusting.

Yes, this is so annoying I had one of those tank my entire defense team last week and with bonus stats it's only worse.

Aversa is running axe breaker this week and I even prepared one of my offense teams with one of my red bladetome fliers if the worst happens.

I suppose that upgrading the Fountain will be a ways a way, since they want people to get more of the new blessings. It's weird to me that these blessings only apply in Aether Raids, which is in itself a very limited set of rewards, so I suspect more people are interested in pulling for new skills to fodder than anything else and see the extra blessings/Lift as merely a perk. Unless I'm misunderstanding the Lift boost from active blessings, the maximum scoring potential is +60 if you have 2 Mythic heroes of the same element and 3 other heroes with an active blessing. At a minimum for Tier 21, having 1 Mythic and 3 Blessed heroes would get +30 Lift, though you could also do 2 Mythics (ie: 2 Eirs) and 2 blessed heroes for +40.

I suppose it's a shame I don't many 5*s that aren't already blessed with the classic 4 elements, but I don't think I'm going to save orbs for Mythic heroes the way I do for Legendaries.

Well, at least that settles my plans for Aether Raids. I am not going to bless a lot of my units with blessings that won't even work outside of Aether Raids. I bless my main Aether Raid team, that I'm using almost every time anyway and invest just enough into one of the offensive blessing types to make tier 21 and then just not do as well in the other seasons. Might as well go with light as we have a head start with a free one and Eir is on a hero fest, while the other might start on legendary banners, and is also sharing with Veronica at the end of the month if your prediction is correct, so I might pick up a few copies.

Some datamined info on how the blessings affect your Lift

    Thank you.

So it looks like Light and Astra blessings boost lift gain on offense while Dark and Anima blessings reduce lift loss on defense. Interested to see the numbers on the defense one, but will probably take until the first defensive one is released. Might just get a single copy of the defensive ones and put the blessings on a bunch of throw away units and call it a day, I'm not winning anything on defense anyway, so might as well reduce the loss. Even though it says the number of lift lost will be decreased with the mythic hero merges it's probably 1 lift per merge and for that it's too expensive.

For a mode that only rewards currency to acquire more GHB/TT units, they sure are going out of their way to whale bait with it. It's even more effort to get the bragging rights of t21 for this than arena, which is kind of absurd.

That's exactly what I thought as well. Do they really expect me to get a lot of mythic heroes to +10, that are most likely as annoying to merge as legendary ones, just for a few more grails?

  5. 15 hours ago, Johann said:

Weirdly, if we can get to Tier 21, it'll be easy since we don't have to worry about rank at all from there. Like, I don't care if my Def team loses at that point since I'll still get max tier rewards, and I imagine it'll be a long time before there's more than 3k people in the highest tier.

Yes I am really looking forward to that. I hope we can achieve tier 21 after the 3.0 changes and then we wouldn't have to worry about tiers any more as it would be easy to just maintain the tier and even one bad season and missing out top rank rewards would just put me back to equal footing for the next.

    11 hours ago, Baldrick said:

I'm going to try to win every match without worrying if I lose any. IMO, you get a decent amount of grails just from the daily bonus + tier bonus, and they aren't that useful without feathers anyway. By all means aim high, but ask yourself if the handful of grails from the ranking bonus is worth putting pressure on yourself.

Well, if you aim to +10 units with grails, grails will become the limiting factor fast.

But you are completely right, I will look at the changes and then decide which tiers are achievable mostly with offense and then take it a bit more easy after that.

So... A new means of gaining Lift was said by IS to be introduced in 3.0. I have a bad feeling about this seeing as what happened to arena

I like the fact that they give us more ways to get lift, but please don't be bonus unit kills again.

Finally a flawless day of Aether Raids for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, what a nice day it is, indeed.

  6. Man, this mode is way too hard for me.

Having to play every single day, the constant pressure of not making a single misplay or having a single miscalculation on offense, while praying to not get attacked on defense gets to me way too much and takes most of the enjoyment I had at the begining of Aether Raids.

From tier 16 to tier 18 it took 1200 lift, so not only did I need to get the 1600 lift I could get from offense but aren't allowed to lose more than 400 on defense. And after half the season my defense already lost 300 points, so I had to go on to get every single point from offense, while knowing it will most likely be in vain.

And it came down to the last day, I started Sunday with 6920 lift, no protection active and 3 matches left. At some points I actually wanted someone to finally attack me so I would have been done with the season. But 30 minutes before the end of the season It was still the same so I played my games and finished at 7220, barely making tier 18.

    4 hours ago, Johann said:

The more I play it, the more I begin to resent this mode and how it makes me dislike everybody else in the game. It's one thing where something like Arena rewards you for having a powerful team composition since (most) other players can (usually) keep trying, but here, your success hinges on making other people fail. Like, not only do I gotta deal with other people's shit maps, but I gotta be a dick to anyone who challenges me, and that ain't cool.

This is really how I feel as well. Every time I get attacked and lose, it's like why did he have to attack me, I really needed those points. And when they loose a unit I am sad, that I just ruined points for him.

    2 hours ago, Baldrick said:

Depends on how you define success. I didn't have a single defence win this season and I still made the top 3k. But if you're trying to be the very best like no one ever was, the increased importance of defence does mean you'll have to be a dick.

That is also how I liked to think of it in the beginning. Top 3k is all I ever want, but in later tiers it might be impossible to even get up a tier if your defense doesn't save some points.

It seems the charm of this mode is lost to most people due to the fact that enemy maps are pretty much all the same, but for me, it's the fact that I'm forced to play this mode every single goddamn day. I'm getting rather burned out.

Yes, exactly this. Getting to tier 18 from tier 16 this week was stressful enough, but now I have to make 1000 lift to even get up a single tier while being pushed around by the top players.

I am so torn between just going casual in this mode and really wanting those grails.

2 hours ago, a bear said:

This is basically why I made my defense team a free win, I don’t feel like ruining someone’s day for maybe two grails a week. That plus the fact that only 6 or 7 of those 20 or so fights actually affect me anyway.

Do you happen to have a defense team with only Draug and some buildings? That was actually my last match this season and it was such a relief not having to focus this hard for once. That was the nicest thing in Aether Raids this week and it came from a player going against, what Aether Raids wants him to.

  7. I am really happy, that we finally get new informations and 3.0 comes directly with it as well.

On top of that midnight is a lot better than the usual 4 or 5 am.

Interested in the things they come up with. 10 minutes seems short but maybe they just announce things without going into too much detail, so I am not giving up hope yet.

  8. @Zeo

That is quite a bit to watch again, but as it soon over, I will enjoy every one even more.

Genny did some work again and Matthew kept up everyones defenses really nice and then took out Grima like it is nothing.

Looked like it wasn't that big of a puzzle for Morgan this time, you kept the map relatively clean so it couldn't get out of hand.

On the Awakening one Cordelia and Chrom were amazing, they made it look really easy and I thought Frederick was just there at first, but even he got some moments to shine.

And that was one of the first abyssal maps, wasn't it? Good job making it through that with your own plan and utilizing all you got. It got close sometimes, but I am impressed how easily you took care of Grima herself. I remember having problems after everything was cleared and just Grima left to find a way to defeat her.

Good job with these clears yet again, was really fun to watch.

My first recorded clear was January 14th this year during Oliver's first run as a Grand Hero Battle. I've done over 100 clears over the course of this year and I've just about burnt out. So at the end of 2018 I'm retiring from clears. Takes too much time and I've gotten tired. If there's say a Grand Hero Battle the first week of 2019 I might do that as a special farewell but otherwise when 2018 wraps up at the end of the month I'm just going to make playlists comprised of all my Heroes clears and I'm done.

Oh ok. I also read it in the other threads now, that you used to think about that before.

It is sad to see you stop and I will miss your clears, but if you burn out and don't get enjoyment out of them yourself any more, it is better that way.

So all that is left is to thank you for all these interesting, impressive and fun clears you provided us with. I really appreciate it and wish you that you will find something else that brings you happiness.

  10. @Zeo

Wow, that was a lot again.

In the old Matthew one it looked like you were immediately on top of things, with nothing posing a danger. Then with the 4 reinforcement turn it looked like it may shift, but Matthew just charged into the biggest group of enemies alone and came out on top, which sealed your victory completely.

In the Morgan clear, it was nice to see Priscilla be the MVP of the first half of the map, she really got a lot done. Then the second half was all about Amelia teleporting around and wrecking things. Those two were so dominating that Morgan himself got barely anything to do this time.

Then you really walked into abyssal with 3 completely unmerged unit. The stats were showing, enemies weren't dying as fast and they got more and more. But with all these stats they must have been unable to believe what happeed next. Your units just weren't dying, you managed to keep everyone alive no matter how hard and often they attacked. And then slowly their ridiculous hp pool dropped, until they started falling one after another until nothing but your indestructible formation was left standing. Really impressive.

And the special clear was also really fun to watch. It looked like they didn't even stand a chance, when the big reinforcement came in there was barely anything left.

Thanks again for alle these nice and entertaining clears. Well done.

@Azuris Tagging you since I forgot to when I made the post this morning. Scroll up a bit to my previous post for my clears of this map.

Wow, Matthew was on fire here, so many melee units hitting for nothing while he was clearing foes left and right. Real nice showcase of his power.

The Morgan one was starting really close already, with two units going  low pretty early on. There were some really close calls so everything mattered and it must have been hard to get everything exactly right. The teleportation to get units to safety or into the right positions was also fun to watch as always.

The last one might not have had the perfect synergy, but it's the units you like and wanted to build so getting the challenge done with them is always worth it.

All in all three impressive clears that must have been quite some work, well done.

And I see you already thought about stopping all the way back then. But it is a lot of work, so it is unfortunately understandable.

  12. @Zeo

Nice clears again. Ayra is really doing a lot of work here, but Matthew is still helping by handling the left side on his own for quite some time. Also the play, making the healer move out of the way was really good.

You are right the Morgan one did really look like a puzzle, you had to place every piece right and make all moves count to prevail against the huge number of enemies approaching. Impressive work, well done.

I was really lucky to land exactly on the minimum needed. I managed to not mess up any matches and get all but a couple aether structures, so I'm glad the defense losses didn't spoil that.

You started with a 400 lift penalty and played a nearly perfect offense, so it is well earned, it would have been unfair if the quality of the attacking players and the timings of the attacks would have ruined that.

    29 minutes ago, Alkaid said:

Sorry you didn't make it to tier 17. It seems like that would have been a hefty feat this week.

Haha, you don't need to be sorry, I was 120 lift off, so it wasn't that close. Also rank 87 is still way better than I deserve.

    31 minutes ago, Alkaid said:

I just collected my rewards and I was 1,077.

Thank you. That is actually fewer people than I thought, so it's still a nice head start for us to reach top 3k again.

  14. @mcsilas

Wow, that looked a lot more difficult, than my main fliers doing abyssal. It shows that these themed clears deserve a lot of respect.

So many tricky, close situation, and wow was that blue mage annoying. So good to see you came up with a solution to everything and could finally put that map haunting you behind you.

Well done, I'm looking forward to what you come up with next.

    @mampfoid

Well, so much for not having the motivation to beat this.

Interesting lineup and a lot more enemy phase heavy than usual. Tiki really doing some work here, also really nice of her to get Cordelia to safety, so she wouldn't get harmed in her rampage. Nicely done.

  15. Missed tier 17 this week, but with the amount of people that made it, it wouldn't be a correct representation of my low merged units and my abilities to get in there. As long as I can somehow sneak into top 3k I am really happy.

    13 hours ago, Alkaid said:

It's a good thing I had that 80 lift buffer, since I already got my defense loss for the day and I end at exactly 6000.

Nice job, congratulations. Good to see you didn't let your bad luck last week discourage you and you even caught back up to most people who started ahead of you.

Do you happen to remember your rank? Would be interesting to know approximately how many people will start at tier 16.

Ended at ~6620, so safe for starting at T17 next season. Apparently, according to a friend who is on Page2, there was only about ~57 people who have a score of 6500+ to start in T17 after reset.

Oh you must be the Azuni I keep seeing on the top players page. To finish that high requires an excellent performance in both offense and defense. Congratulations, you earned yourself a really nice starting spot for some weeks as getting up more than one tier will become hard and then impossible the next seasons.

Not that I check for Vantage, but I wanted to make exactly that. Too bad I can't change offense teams while being low on Aether.

Hmm, why not? You can change them with "Edit Special Teams" in the Allies menu, or I didn't get what you meant.

  17. 10 hours ago, Johann said:

I'm also suspecting that if the new legendary is a healer, then they'd probably be infantry and not tailored to be an offensive powerhouse like Veronica.

Or they rerun Innes again and push the healers back, so we get Grima, Xander, Loki for March. But I kinda doubt that, that would be too good.

If you run the same kind of blade tome build on Summer Tana or another of your red mages, you can probably do the same thing I did with Camilla. The dancers just need WoM and that 2 are able to survive and whittle down/kill that blue manakete. You might only need 1, but that's just how it worked out for me. Stuff like Celica with her refine and Special Spiral AOE Ophelia can also pull it off. (though you might not have those, as I don't)

Thank you. It's kind of you to help me, but I was so fed up with this map, that I bit the bullet and paid the 20k feathers for Galeforce on Lucina to make the one turn clear happen. But I still appreciate it.

To be honest I've been a little lazy with the old maps which got Abyssal added with their rerun. Solving Lyn, Lucina and Ryoma originally at Infernal in one turn was interesting and challenging. Having to solve the same thing again, just with more bloated stats isn't that motivating for me. Did it with Grima and Hector, but Lyn, Ryoma and Lucina will have to wait.

I totaly get that. It's harder but still the same map so the motivation isn't that same.

    @mcsilas

Nice themed clear, an ice team on an ice map. Hector did quite some work here, and Ninian was so helpful to help everyone zip around and outmaneuver the enemies. Well done. The frost flower on Flora was also really nice, quite fitting.

Yes, it is always risky to go into seasonal banners without a lot of orbs, as you could miss out on someone you really want and then it's a long wait.

But they could have brought back Lucina faster, 4 month again, even Hrid is only 3.

  20. @LordFrigid

Wow you sure are blasting through these, 3 abyssal and cleared the first day. I only did abyssal Lucina and Ryoma yesterday and delayed Hrid after seeing it won't go as smooth.

Meanwhile you did not only beat them, but also have your special clears in place. I am truly amazed, well done.

    @mampfoid

Good job. Nice use of Galeforce to push Alm into place. You make that look so easy, that I was somewhat tempted to try a one turm myself, as this map keeps annoying me. But one skill here, another to get that kill, a couple of WoM, that is expensive. But it makes me respect you and LordFrigid even more, that you're always commmit to that.

Also wait? No Galeforce on Alm? The theme is ruined!

Nice showcase, really well done. You demolish everything with Camilla, meanwhile I struggle with four units, but it was sure nice to see these annoying units get crushed.

    Keep it up.

To sum it up: FUCK. THIS. MAP.

    This, so much.

If I avoid the visible flier buffs, I can get Grima to barely live through Hrids attacks and nearly kill on the counter, I get the kill if I shuffle ally supports around, but I am not sure if that is such a big help as the healer is free to gravity me then and one of my fliers always ends up in a spot to get taken out. (Can I get a flier guidance seal please?)

Good to see you got it done and you didn't even have to switch your team. Getting rid of panic and making the healer run out of the way with savage blow was really smart. Nice execution to keep everyone alive and finishing the rest off. Good job.
