  1. Soren's hair does not look like that and I do not recall him ever having a butterfly motif, which is something Deirdre (and Lucina) has. And he definitely resembles Sigurd more, you yourself said Ike has short hair and that looks too long. Aaanyway... if Ulster being normalized to Scathach in this week's update is an omen then this looks like it could be predominantly Jugdral, though they've been cheeky before like in the bridal and first summer banner.
  2. Nepotism. Erk is Pent's adoptive son and apprentice, former orphanhood or not that counts for a lot. Plus all the other playable mages are either non-Etrurian in origin or not the type to be interested in the position.
  3. The AI can see the next RNs that will be used on the first attack, and will run it through the whole list of enemies in attacking range. It will pick the first unit that can crit, then the first unit that can hit, if possible; and if none of them can hit then it will choose the lowest damage dealer to take the miss. On Lunatic hit rolls 1 RN above 50% and 2 RN below 50% for players, and vice versa for enemies. Crit is also rolled this way. Fatigue system where if fatigue goes negative past a certain point the unit will pass out and become an easy target. Lords passing out is a game over.
  4. With just the square root yes, but when I said "function of Magic" I had adding a multiplier in mind. So if it was 5M you'd have 11 range, 3M you'd have 8 range, etc.
  5. Long-range staffs now use square root functions of Magic to calculate range.
  6. Keep: 1) Instruction-based reclassing. Having to earn the weapon rank to reclass is a great gateway. 2) Instruction in general. Make it a base function, or better yet something for undeployed units to do. 3) The combat arts menu. Being able to equip three at a time is nice. 4) The accessory slot. Much better way to balance out skill rings/shields/etc. 5) Class-tied skills. They give classes a stronger identity and some live and die by them. Toss: 1) The monastery. It gets stale on subsequent playthroughs and drags the game's focus away from the maps. 2) Freelance weapon use. Weapons are better off tied to classes and I don't like free -Faires as a stay-in-bounds incentive. 3) The class and promotion system. Chance-based certifications suck and I want more concrete class progression back. 4) Counterattack. This is a cheap way to make a boss threatening and it doesn't belong on player units ever. 5) Recruitment. I want my rosters balanced across the whole game back : < 6) Heroes/Inflated caps. I already disliked personal caps in mainline games but this is ridiculous. Modify: 1) The magic system. Give us both learnt spells and tomes, casting a tome you know gives you the "forged" spell. 2) Personalized skill learnsets. Tare it down and cut the clutter, closer to the Jugdral/Tellius system. 3) Dismounting. Throw away the Mount command, it's a Get Out of Weaknesses Free card. Nerf dismounted movement. 4) Weapon weight mitigation. I like that it's a fraction of Strength but how about a weapon rank component? 5) Repairing. It could stay but, Fire Emblem's economy isn't made with it in mind... Needs some changes to work.
  7. Most likely Clair. If he wasn't so fixated on Celica they'd probably hit it off a lot more evenly and it'd make for a good peacemaking political marriage as a bonus, assuming Celica still took Zofia and he had Rigel.
  8. The avatar (and only the avatar) can same-sex S-support every character in the game. If you think that's perfectly OK then they also have explicit mental manipulation powers. Enemies on Lunatic all have the Counterattack skill. Using Shove, Lunge etc. to move a grounded unit over a lava/deep chasm tile instantly kills them. Flying enemies will exploit that on these kinds of maps. Turnwheel has infinite uses. Locking it to Casual mode is optional.
  9. This is something I'd like to see the series address going forward. Not just in Three Houses, but in practically every game but FE4 being benched makes you a sitting duck, and it got worse from Radiant Dawn on with stronger enemy progression. Let units grow a bit even if you don't deploy them; not to the same extent as who you're fielding but enough that it's more manageable to find a replacement if someone bites it. Ironmans aren't the only beneficiaries here, it makes team rotation and a cut-back on reclassing importance more viable because you don't need to compress roles as much.
  10. That isn't true, most Archanean characters have some personality if you dig deep enough. Problem is you have to dig deep, because the story has severe character tunnel vision. And that bit about not improving Shadow Dragon's writing is also wrong; they really cleaned up the script. It's just what I said about tunnel vision. For SoV I think the opposite of Fernand and Rinea, the former develops several Zofian characters while the latter is a satellite to Berkut.
  11. I don't agree with the title but I do agree with the notion that Avatar marriage is stifling LGBT rep in Fire Emblem. Nothing directly stops them, but as long as player characters can marry others there's going to be precedent to "not leave out" anyone from the pool. I'm going to need to see larger steps than Three Houses did in the other direction to be fully convinced. Otherwise the best bet would be to have a chaste Avatar character like FE12 Kris, where all their ship teasy supports ring hollow in the end.
  12. It depends heavily on the two characters, how well they click and where they started off. If two characters already had a sound relationship then just one or two conversations can be enough. Whereas with two strangers for could work out but it might be too little.
  13. The art's alright, what bothers me is the voice. I prefer the deeper voice she had in her first iteration.
  14. I know, but featuring an event that occurs at the end of autumn on a banner in the middle of summer would be an odd choice. If the banner was in October or even late September then I'd buy it as a possibility.
  15. I'd be surprised if it was based on the White Heron Cup with how early in the year it is now, that's in December. It's more likely it'll be another summer festival akin to the 2018 banner. That and I really don't want another 3H dominated seasonal right after we just got one and on the heels of them owning CYL4.
  16. Somehow I didn't expect this, even though FE12 turned ten years old two days ago... too much "Where's Jill" echo chambering I guess.
  17. Duelist Blow: When initiating combat, grants Spd +6 and reduces non-Special attack damage by [Spd difference] x 3% (max. 30%). Certain Blow: When initiating combat, grants Atk +6 and ignores all non-Special percent-based damage reduction.
  18. Mustafa has popularity behind him as a sympathetic enemy boss whereas Aran and Dadven have far thinner followings. Kieran would fit right in on a Crimean Royal Knights banner but I'd be very surprised if he shared a banner with Jill (assuming axes) or the Greil Mercs. Granted we did get a Catria alt on an Echoes banner for the army she wasn't in but it depends on whether they feel like it.
  19. There are more productive ways to reduce the disparity between Speed and Skill, like giving the latter an objective function that isn't dependent on RNG. Or dropping the Skill stat altogether and redistribute its functions elsewhere, since they've already been doing that and stat-based Hit/Avo/etc. has been falling out of favor since the DS games.
  20. I don't know what you're getting at here, one is based solely on statistical comparison while the other is a luck-based mechanic. In a strategy game. It's already ridiculous how powerful the latter is, and I'd go farther than Jotari with changing it. Only double damage with lower crit rates overall, but larger boosts for the tools meant to fish for them, is what I'd call for.
  21. Despite increasing the summer seasonal banner bloat I'm sort of glad the dancer banner is coming sooner than later, if for the simple fact that it makes a 3H focus a lot less likely. They need more banners, but not all at once and CYL4 belongs to them.
  22. Enemies are leveled by Growth(decimal) x Level and added to their base stats to generate their stats.
  23. Come on IS just break the Curse of Jill already
  24. He isn't a minor character either. Echoing what others said, the collar up looks pretty bad. I even heard speculation that it's the same artist but I doubt that.
