  1. I already discussed that in my post agreeing with Combat Arts: the numbers are small because they have to be in order to be reasonable when applied passively. Being able to gain 5 or more Atk/Def or 30 or more Hit/Avo is just too strong to be on something that can always be up. (On that note, FE13/14 Breakers are too strong.) Heroes also locks characters into a color, while mainline games often have either multiple weapons or Reaver weapons, so you do have to rotate characters if the triangle works against you (or stack combat buffs to high heaven but w/e). Now admittedly, if this principle applied to just weapon stats it wouldn't be too bad, as Mt/Hit tend to stay within more reasonable bands without character stats propping them up. But there's another question for you: Where is the math behind your calcs? Show us the base Atk and Hit values so that we know what you're talking about.
  2. Throwing in my two cents on the geopolitical aftermath before this thread gets swamped by Awakening talk, I agree with you here. I also agree with your suggestion about it being left open to a direct sequel, because there's a couple plots you could base it on. In fact, I think this might be the most direct sequel-friendly end of any game. However, I can brighten the outlook by saying that it doesn't seem to be staying that way. For starters, there's likely plans to repatriate Grust given that Jubelo and Yuliya are studying in Altea and Archanea respectively, and Marth assigned Draug to oversee reconstruction (without being a horrible tyrant like Lang). They're only 13-14, cut them some slack, and their support chain does talk about future rulership. And I headcanon that sooner or later Maria goes back on her sister's actions and takes the throne herself. I can't see Macedon being stable for very long under martial law and I imagine Maria falling out with Minerva over the ordeal, and possibly lying to her about Michalis's survival (in the original). Beyond that, Marth and Caeda can repopulate empty thrones with their children, one is probably taking Altea and a third could have Talys. There's also room for consolidation: Gra was originally a part of Altea and Aurelis was effectively an Archanean colony until Hardin abolished the slave trade. Dohlr will likely be absorbed into Macedon, and if Talys doesn't join Archanea it could absorb Pyrathi, maybe. Valentia is a week's voyage across the sea too, maybe shorter from Grust's shoreline, and Palla and Catria could set up trade with their connections. So we're looking at three or four kingdoms alongside Archanea, two at worst I wager, plus a rediscovered sister continent with two kingdoms of its own.
  3. Combat Arts as a substitute for the weapon triangle would be great. Part of the problem with triangle relevancy is that the modifiers need to be bigger to make a difference but those mods would be too powerful as passive boosts. The only problem is the lack of doubling on Arts, but that could be fixed by allowing them to double when used against the intended weapon.
  4. I'm mixed on the triangle but I feel like it hides a bigger issue: the weapon types have become very homogeneous. A lot of variety among weapon types has been lost as tools that used to belong to one weapon type (effective weapons, magic weapons) are given to other weapon types. Games with weapon rank bonuses give Atk/Hit boosts that narrow the gap, making the weapons even more samey at higher levels. I also don't like how the weapon triangle modifiers scale with rank when we already have rank bonus negation, I feel like it's redundant and just add more mental math. I'm more interested in broadening the existing weapon pools and making them more unique, maybe even at the cost of removing one of the cardinal weapon types, than bringing back the triangle in full force. That and I think it's screwed over bows, either by the games' focus on the triangle leaving them overshadowed for being outside of it, or by robbing them of their main selling point: a reliable neutral weapon that avoids counterattacks when range balancing is taken seriously. Never mind that making them disadvantageous against magic is an unnecessary nerf when magic often has the advantage of a more flexible range.
  5. Archer prejudice man, it's been a problem for them all for too long. It's been dying down since post-Awakening though, so hopefully when IS re-revisits Archanea in 2030 they will agree that your boy deserves better than sandbagged Ryan growths and replace some of his advantages the remake took away. And for what it's worth he's way ahead of his peers in terms of character development. Anyway... Arlen and Luthier became total besties after the War of Heroes. Larcei's real name is Luchtaine (to go with Scathach) but she goes by Larcei because she hates it. Everyone uses it out of respect, but Shanan and Scathach will go back to Luchtaine whenever she tries their patience. The Demon King was one of many, but the Dragon tribes hunted them to extinction and displayed their skulls as trophies. Look at the Dragon Altar maps in FE3 Book 2.
  6. Casual or Turnwheel aren't bad additions to the series but they should not be a factor in playtesting, they enable design choices that are bad if not downright anathema for ironmanning.
  7. While part of Chrom's army, Tiki often cut onions during meal preparations so they could farm her tears for those tonics.
  8. If all they're doing is waving their staffs then no. You can still deploy them as filler, but training them to promotion level requires exposing them to enemies, which can be rather tedious to outright dangerous. Wendell can always be your third-string magic attacker alongside Merric and Linde.
  9. Why not both? Seriously, let's have tomes/staffs AND learned spell lists. Have the former be stronger than the latter (particularly the long-range magic) for balancing purposes, both in stats and in not consuming the cost of personal spells. You still have to manage their uses, but you get more mileage out of them and they're not locked to another character. If you know a spell AND have the tome or staff for it, the latter is consumed but you get two perks: 1) You can use it regardless of restrictions as long as you're in a class with access to the character's spell list. 2) You get a "forged" version of the spell with better combat stats, staff range, effects, etc. (Actually forging tomes would not be a thing.) Also, have some spells that are only in tome or staff form, like Elfire and Mend, to represent man-made variants of natural spells.
  10. My list. Characters are ordered by preference within tier. S is a firm yes to using the new skins, A is a leaning yes, B is a 50/50, C is an occasional maybe and D is a no.
  11. It's not like everyone would have taken the vaccine, at least not immediately, what with the anti-vaxxer movement still running strong. And with how rapidly viruses mutate I wouldn't expect a single vaccine to bring everything back to normal within just a month or two's time.
  12. A refresher Lord is a very interesting concept because for how powerful the Dance command is, it is intrinsically limiting with how little incentive it leaves to do anything else. Unless there is a must-do action that no other unit can fulfill, it's more economical to have the refresher make someone else do it. Whether or not the dancer is armed makes little difference; if they can hold their own then good for them, but it's no skin off their nose if they can't fight or can't fight well. In fact it's arguably better if a refresher Lord can't: it enforces the team effort aspect of Fire Emblem gameplay, and having such a powerful utility option tied to them ensures your Lord is never dead weight or just a Seize bot. Two of the drawbacks you mentioned in the first post aren't all that relevant when refresher combat is a bells-and-whistles or is easily worked around. The only real drawback is Seize and Dance being mutually exclusive, which hinders quick-seize strategies that rely on ending the chapter to avoid a last-minute trap and/or deadly enemy phase. You could always get around this by having multiple Lord characters, and Fire Emblem is no stranger to frontliner-supporter dynamics. Or bring back the Fatigue systems and add immediate consequences for running out of Stamina, like being unable to use Arts (including Dance). Or give Arts PP like Three Houses magic. It'd probably have to be a really low number (1-2-3) or high (10) to work this way.
  13. A few years after the War of Heroes, Maria reclaimed her birthright and became Queen of Macedon. She saw the despair and/or restlessness of her countrymen, rallied support and petitioned the United Kingdom to restore her kingdom's former sovereignty. This led to a rift between her and Minerva, although that started when she found out her sister lied about Michalis being alright. Hugh got hired to protect an orphanage in Ilia after the war with Bern and fell in love with a cleric who also worked there. Niime tries to be supportive but can barely hide her exasperation.
  14. Yeah, the only changes should be no Prologue and the reinforcements appearing at the start of enemy phase.
  15. I don't know the exact numbers but on H1 he should have his Normal stats and on H2 he should be identical or very close to H5. H1 does not have any bonus levels, so he won't be any different. When bonuses do come into play generic Manakete's high offensive growths mean Medeus's stats will rise quickly. Assuming H2 Final grants just ten bonus levels you can expect him to have 29 Str/30 Skl/29 Spd; any more and he's H5 Medeus.
  16. 25 Def/31 Res backed by 18 Speed is virtually indestructible outside of the postgame, and even if Kliff's a Sage he'll still be fast enough to double just about everything short of the Dread Fighters and Mogalls (who will barely touch him). The real question is whether or not you think he needs the offense afforded by a weapon or stronger, heavier spells.
  17. Short of the same sequence playing out it's unlikely she would abandon her kingdom to chase after Camus. Marth would actually listen to Nyna and consult with her on ruling their kingdoms, rather than be Hardin the miracle man turned tyrant who does it all himself. She can stay more behind-the-scenes, but she'll have some agency over her lands instead of being reduced to a figurehead.
  18. My predictions are Eph, Neph n' Effie Sonya. Maybe Innes if they're feeling colorless. It's probably not gonna be another 3-4*, Archanean, and I hope not red unit. For that matter, most of these characters would be suited to an enemy kingdom theme.
  19. Gra has a half-decent force of experienced soldiers in FE3 Book 2, the Paladins, Horsemen and Snipers on Chapter 15 are all aligned with Gra rather than Archanea in that game.
  20. Georgia is down to a mere 2,500 votes! ...Still in Trump's favor but it may well tip if the votes haven't run out. Meanwhile Pennsylvania is looking sunnier, with Biden finally within a percentage point and a wider margin for improvement. Nevada and Arizona have been stable, as has North Carolina.
