  1. Enemies are leveled by Growth(decimal) x Level and added to their base stats to generate their stats.
  2. Come on IS just break the Curse of Jill already
  3. He isn't a minor character either. Echoing what others said, the collar up looks pretty bad. I even heard speculation that it's the same artist but I doubt that.
  4. I just knew it was going to be Three Houses... fingers crossed the rest of the banner has more variety. Nothing against 3H but I like seeing more than one game repped and they swept CYL3 as it is.
  5. Fix the hit rates beyond just boosting hit rates, the hit/avoid formula and terrain bonuses are part of the problem Mounted units cannot be rescued, foot units get a command to become a passenger for mounted units for one-turn rescue-drop fun Use a mix of player and enemy phase reinforcements as appropriate Fix some of the maps, particularly the indoor and gaiden chapters Add some manner of accelerating WEXP progression Give Roy a passive leadership bonus or skill of some sort so that he has actual utility Make supports more reasonable to obtain but curb support bonus stacking
  6. I have a similar idea to keep them in line while keeping them more unique: they still use special ballista weapons, but their default range is cut in half (so 3-5). However, they have a skill which doubles their maximum range provided they haven't moved. Going full Advance Wars is too restrictive but mobile 3-10 range is totally busted; this is a fair compromise. Another idea for their weapons is to have them halve the target's Defense during damage calculation and possibly work off a less stat-based Hit/Avoid formula. That way they can keep up if they have Goomba stats like in the SNES games. Still, my first idea is the main takeaway here.
  7. I like Master Seals the most. Separate promotion items can work but can also be overly restricting, and with reclassing it just doesn't make sense to include. Promotion by level is alright but it should not be the predominant way to do it. Or you could have the FE4 approach where you can promote freely in the base or prep menu, but only after a certain point. It could be tied to the Lord promoting or some arbitrary story event. This system also has room for Master Seals to give you early and/or on-field promotions.
  8. The splits only apply to the Prologue but that doesn't invalidate anything, you still have a portion of the game with mutually exclusive units and unlike other games' prologues you don't have the option to skip them.
  9. P-4: Athena or Gordin P-6: Ogma or Draug P-7: Cain or Est I called them bad because they're all badly lopsided choices (especially the first two) to the point where picking wrong without a good Kris build is detrimental to the following chapters. It's also poorly telegraphed, they're presented as Yes/No choices at the end of the chapter before the split, so you have to go back and replay the last chapter if you didn't like the result. Giving you both would do no harm to the gameplay with how tight deployment limits are, and the one map where you do get an extra unit (P-5) is tight enough I'd call it a positive change.
  10. New Mystery does both of those things, but it does them poorly. The extremely variable nature of Kris warps earlygame design for the worse, and the Prologue character splits are awful. Admittedly, part of the problem with Kris is that they are both a variable unit and the "Jeigan" for the 7th Platoon. Specifically, a growths Jeigan, which has always been a problem for FE games. Arran/Samson splits tend to be uneven, and having them early just exacerbates the imbalance. Picking the worse option is more excusable when the choice is mid-to-lategame. Tear Ring Saga also doesn't have multiple difficulties and the earlygame is relatively easy. I think the best way to have a party with an identity is to give the player a varied cast to work with from the get-go. A mix of classes, each with their own unique tools to make use of (be it skills, weapons or combat arts) that can't count on one hand. Throw in an Echoes style villager or two if you want a choices character.
  11. It's more sonny issues in his case, since Garcia has some regrets about his path in life and is afraid his son will repeat his mistakes.
  12. This is the one bundle I can get behind, because these games are intrinsically tied together more than any other. I'm pessimistic about it happening though, there's a good chance they'll sell them separately but allow you to buy the other as DLC at a reduced price, or buy a more expensive Special edition with both. But that's better than Fates doing it. I don't have much to say about the bits pushing your OTP but more tie-ins wouldn't hurt in a pair of games that already had transfer bonuses. One thing I'd like to add though: don't put them behind a capped level requirement (except Sothe). Limit it to promoted caps, sure, but level cap has almost always been a formality or there to put a stop endless growth.
  13. I really wish Intelligent Systems would take the momentum bit more seriously, because I can easily see a lot of actions where it shouldn't activate. If anything, the only action where it makes full sense is after attacking if the mount didn't take damage in return.
  14. Roy mentions in Binding Blade's epilogue that his father is still alive, but with illness and possibly age weakening him his son needs to step up in Pherae now more than ever. It's possible Bern had their hands full with reigning in Etruria, Nabata and all their other conquests to take another stab at Lycia.
  15. I am surprised Minerva came on the heels of Linde. I wouldn't have expected another Archanean character, let alone another 5* so soon when Muspell hasn't had a common pull. I think I prefer her original art, the outfit's not bad but it's not a deal-maker and I'm not a fan of the faces. She looks more like Pyra from Xenoblade than Minerva.
  16. Knowing Intelligent Systems they'd likely make it April 20th.
  17. The sweetspot is 12-15 around lategame. It can go lower in the early chapters but anything below six feels like I'm being shortchanged.
  18. While forging would be welcome for Hit you might need to consider scaling back the weapons' base Might. Silver Swords are already running around with 14 and the next lowest silver has 18. Echoes' fixed forging is probably the way to go because of how absurd some weapons (Braves) would get under the free-form system. Another consideration is that weapons don't just break into nothing, they break and can be repaired. Would the forged status stay or would it have to be reforged? The latter might add more depth to the economy and make for better balancing. A range bonus would help more than a crit bonus, it gives them a hard niche over mounted bows and a crit bonus high enough to matter (i.e. be reliable) would make them frustrating to fight on enemy phase.
  19. Julian and Lena could be a very potent duo unit. Lena isn't much of a fighter anyway and the myriad of potent staffs she has to work with give her numerous options for their duo skill.
  20. On the east coast, we've had the same problem for years. It doesn't help that our dog is neurotic and has been traumatized to the point where she associates them with nightfall and starts getting anxious at dusk.
  21. IMO her design wasn't going to fit with any of the themes, but Askr was probably the best fit. Muspell and Embla's darker colors would clash and Nifl's cool colors would look out of place. Askr's all white and gold at least evokes an angelic motif, although I agree with you on the "horns" headgear. And for what it's worth most of the Resplendents have some degree of palette swapping. Personally, my favorite detail about her new art isn't the outfit, it's that she actually looks her Shadow Dragon age.
  22. I don't mind either, the former can give units unique niches and the latter can be a factor in class balancing. That said, in the latter case I'd like to see more use of movement-type only restriction, such as making longbows and some swords infantry-only.
  23. You have the range advantage, Astram only has 7 mov vs your three 8-10 mov fliers and however many cavalry plus whoever took the Orion's Bolt. 28 HP/11 Def backed by 22 Avoid doesn't offer him much longevity; promoted base Palla w/Silver Lance does 16 alone and with support from Catria she has 100 Hit. Pepper him with a few 2-range attacks then go for the throat. He's also the closest starting one so you can straddle his range without being in any other Hero's from both sides. With minimal investment it's not hard to kill him reliably. As a side note but in line with the topic: Gordin recruits Astram by proxy (only he can recruit Jeorge in FE3, who's the only one who can recruit Astram).
