The Naga tome, however, is blessed by neither Ashera nor Yune. It instead contains the power of Naga, who is considered a goddess in her own right. This gives it a distinct advantage over the Loptous tome, given their history of enmity. But Naga's "power relation" to Ashera (and Yune) is unclear - is she more powerful, less, or about equal? My personal speculation is "less", but that's not enough to base a conclusion off of. So I'll just go with what the games give us.

Naga says in Awakening that she isn't a deity. Ashera appears to be a full-out, all-powerful Creator being. Both are called Goddesses, but there is a clear power difference.

Ashera, aside from weapons that she herself has blessed, is an immovable object. Julia (with the tome of Naga), while a very strong force, is not an unstoppable one. I don't think Julia can defeat Ashera, no matter how hard she tries.

In Lore? I agree on all accounts. Ashera is (almost) unstoppable in Telluis. But Julia? She's the inheritor of a very powerful dragon's power.

Forgive the double post. But I want to suggest a fight and someone will probably suggest a different one in between.

Julia (Genealogy of the Holy War) | Fire Emblem Wiki | FandomTips On Beating Ashera | Fire Emblem Amino

Julia, the most powerful playable character in the series, versus Ashera, the final boss of Radiant Dawn.. Julia can solo the final boss of her own game, can she do so to one of another?. Let's see how they face off. Julia will of course be using her Naga Tome. However she also gets he circlet which grants her renewal and (Genealogy)miracle. Ashera will act as she does in game, running through her list of Judgements on her own phase while using the same weapon to counter attack on Julia's face. Ashera will not have her auras with her as those are separate units in her game. Renewal in Genealogy restores between 5-10HP, so I could average that at 7/8 or actually get a randomizer, or just give Julia the full 10 to give her the best chance. Ashera also gets some renewal in the form of Mantle which restores her luck stat as HP each turn. Julia also has Adept and a crazy high chance of using it if Naga's speed boost is factored into the calc, but it's rendered irrelevant by Ashera's mantle (which I guess her Miracle skill would too, though it just boosts evasion in Genealogy? So maybe that's get around it. Does regular Nihil disable Prayer in Genealogy?). I'll leave people to speculate which one has the edge here first before simulating the battle tomorrow.

Genealogy Nihil disables Sol, Luna, Astra, Crtis, and Effective Damage. All other skills (Adept, Miracle, Pursuit, etc.) are unaffected.

  2. Let's see if I can get out of my sickened stupor for a sec...

A Dancer Lord? Never been done, as far as I've seen. Personally, I think this could be great, depending on a few things.

    1. Can this Dance-lord fight? Swords, Magic, or something else entirely?
    2. Will they get a Promotion? Maybe they can fight after Promotion?
    3. Can they get those special Rings the FE7 Refreshers had?

Numbers 1 and 2 aren't really an issue, more of a flavor thing. 3 is the more important question (at least for me).

Bruh, I think no one has anything better to do right now with global lockdown and all. Also believe it or not, I only started this run this past Friday. I think Flayn is actually easier to grind than most units. And trust me, nobody likes Flayn more than me.

Fair enough, I suppose. Also, Friday? Did you spend all day, every day doing this? That's quite a bit of dedication.

Started it Saturday actually, got the dates mixed up🤣

Her bases don't matter when you've got tons of stat boosters to load her up with on recruit and a maxed battalion to slap onto her, which of course was in my case. But I say she's easy to grind because of the support magic she has access to. Fortify gives massive EXP, and Rescue and Restore give a fair amount, more than heal. The best maps for expending all their uses is anything with beasts, since they have infinite, status-inflicting attacks. You let them repeatedly attack and rattle Byleth and create a cycle of Heal/Restoring until your magic runs out. This is especially good to do in the bishop or gremory class, obviously.

... I see. You do you, my good sir.

  4. Hm... What would I add? Jolly good question, that.

    • Supports
    • Holy Weapons usable by Minor Bloods, but with 1/2 stat boosts
    • Sigurd having 2-3 less base in all areas in exchange for +10-20% growth in all areas
    • Some modicum of balance between classes (Knight Lord and Master Knight, specifically)
    • A few more characters (Saias for Gen2!)
    • The last time you face a Holy Weapon, it drops so you can use it
    • Buying and selling Holy Weapons

More or less, give more options for the game.

Aside from that, what would I hope for?

    • A good avatar. Yes. Why can't we just have an avatar that is their own character, instead of a self-insert?
    • Would be interesting if there was a knight of the Rotenritter who Arvis had join Sigurd. That could be quite good, with them also being betrayed by Arvis, or them turning on Sigurd.
  5. I had a chat with my brother earlier, and the various times in FE when Bosses crit during a 'Cutscene' (Using the term loosely) was a topic. So, let's see if my memory is half decent...

FE4 - Gandolf critted Midir when he was attacking Jungby (No Crit Skill).

FE6 - Zephiel critted Cecilia (Maybe? It's been a while so it's a bit foggy...).

FE8 - Breguet critted the Frelian Mercenary in Chapter 1 (~50% Hit, 1% Crit).

Also FE8 - Valter critted Glen in Eirika's Route (He had a crit rate, to be fair).

FE13 - Basilio critted Walhart during the diversionary attack (0%).

Also FE13 - Walhart critted Basilio back (Also 0%).

FE14 - Garon critted Zola at the Opera House.

Can you guys think of any times a Boss crits during a scripted event?

  6. Telluis is the first of the FE worlds, which then got shattered into several different dimensions that can still reconnect at times. Asheruna (Is that the right spelling?) similarly shattered and eventually became the various Deity-level beings in the games.

Theres Alm direct descendant in Awakening timeframe, but didnt bother to get in with the ongoing conflict

    Isn't Walhart Alm's descendant?

  7. Song 1: FE4 Prolog theme (Is it called Birth of a Holy Knight? Or is that the chapter name)

    Song 3: FE4 Chapter 1 theme

Song 4: Sounds familiar, but IDK

Song 7: It's from FE4, But I don't remember where from. It occurs in conversations, not in maps/battles.

    IDK the rest of them.

Of course, I've not played Thracia (Can't find a ROM), so clearly I can't get them all right...

  8. On the topic of serfdom, I don't think the FE series is a good place for such a volatile subject. I know it has it's problems (Incest and pedophilia, etc. Is that just a thing in Japan?), but does anyone play FE for the resolution of difficult topics? I don't think so, but I've been wrong about odder things.

I've got mixed feelings about that scene. I guess that bit is in character for Ryoma, but it feels like it was made just to make Corrin squirm. Ah, I should probably not reignite that debate.

  9. Chapter 13 - 10 (Ground up Ewan before this one. Cormag went strait-up God mode on turns 5-7, dodging everything thrown his way and hitting several ~60% hits. Ewan, however was pissing me off, missing 80%s. Karma?)

    Chapter 14 - 17 (Status staves + Vigard. Must I explain further?)

    Edit: did some calculations.

    Lv 20 Ephraim    -1.8 Hp, -3.8 Str, +1.2 Skl, -2.2 Spd, -1 Luk, -4 Def, +2 Res

    Lv7 Ewan    -5.5 Hp, +2.25 Str, 0 Skl, +4.75 Spd, -.5 Luk, -2.25 Def, -1 Res

    Lv6 Neimi    -.7 Hp, -2.3 Str, -2 Skl, -.4 Spd, 0 Luk, -2.1 Def, -.9 Res

    Lv5 Colm    -4.25 Hp, -2.6 Str, +4.4 Skl, +.65 Spd, +1.45 Luk, +1.25 Def, -.8 Res

    Lv7 Lute    -2.05 Hp, +3.25 Str, -1.5 Skl, -3.75 Spd, -1.75 Luk, -1.25 Def, +3 Res

    Lv9 Joshua    0 Hp, +3 Str, -6 Skl, -.4 Spd, -1 Luk, -1 Def, -2 Res

    Lv6 Cormag    -1.1 Hp, +.7 Str, -1.4 Skl, +2.3 Spd, -1.1 Luk, -.5 Def, -.9 Res

Wow. This explains quite a bit about what's going on. Aside from Ewan, Joshua, and Cormag, Oi, is this rough.

  10. FE8, quite simply because it introduced branching promotions (Screw Gaiden, Villager doesn't matter). I also like the concept and classes of the Monsters, but they could've been stronger.

Edit: somehow skipped over 'least' in the title.

FE6. Writing can be ignored, gameplay cannot, and I do not like FE6's gameplay.

There's nothing to be demoralized about. I have a lot of experience in FE8 draft races, have been in multiple, and my first one I was at a little less then 130 by ch 12's time. So you are on a fairly good pace. Not only that, but I made liberal use of savestates, and you sound like you haven't.

Only in Chapter 10 where save-states used.

It's like how some artists get demoralized by seeing really good art. One one hand, wow am I bad, on the other, I want to get this good.  I'm not quitting, you need not fear that. I'll finish this, one way or another, though I may go through Hell or high water.

Speaking of, if Hoshido is based on Edo-era Japan then why aren't there tanegashimas anywhere to be seen?  How is it that Mozu seems to be treated as lower class than Oboro's immediate family, and why are merchants prestigious enough to be a promoted class?

Based on =/= Is. Besides, are any FEs truly a medieval atmosphere, with serfs and the like?

I enjoy history, but IDK enough about the topic at hand to add anything to the discussion. Except that Japan got off very lucky.

  13. Chapter 11 - 8 (5th attempt, caved in and used save-states)

Chapter 12 - 12 (Could've cleared it at 10, but I didn't want to risk Joshua on him getting 2 Crits at 50%)

    Total: 166  as of C12

Ephraim's still bad. Lv19, -1 Hp, -3.25 Str, +1.75 Skl, -1.75 Spd, -.5 Luk, -1.5 Def, +1.25 Res. He's sped up a bit, but is still subpar for Ephraim.

  14. I've played Shadow Dragon (in fact, it was my first FE). Long story, that. If you want to know, then read the spoiler below this.

    Spoiler

I got my first game (Pokemon Emerald) when I was in first grade. I only played the 'mon game till 2011, when I was talking with a friend about Pokemon Conquest, and he said, 'Hey, if you like that, you should try Fire Emblem'. One thing led to another, and I got Shadow Dragon about 3 months latter. I then played Awakening, thought it was Ok, and then Fates happened. From there, I play FEs 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, partially 12.

As for the localized FE1, I don't care. Shadow Dragon is it, but less archaic. Same as Gaiden and SoV, and FE3 and Heroes of Light and Shadow. Of course, SoV is absolutely fantastic and FE12 is, uh... No. Just no. And better yet, I either already have the remakes, or I can play them for no $$$, 'cause I'm poor as dirt.

    1. Undrafted units have a 4 turn penalty, per unit per chapter.

    9 hours ago, Hello72207 said:

This is not a penalty, as Tana did nothing illegal to recruit cormag. It says in the rules that undrafted units may recruit other characters. As long as Tana did nothing illegal there's no penalty.

Is it not? Tana wasn't drafted by me...

  16. Chapter 9 - 26 (F******CK THIS MAP. Sleep Staves, copious Refo, Ocean Seal far from the Boss that needs looting. 4 Resets! If I ever do a LTC Draft again, I'm choosing Moulder, first recruit!)

Chapter 10 - 10 (Got all the loot, but didn't kill the Ranger Dude (Don't remeber his name), as the only way I could would've been a 15% Silencer proc from Colm)

    Total: 146 as of C8

This... this is just going to get worse. The sooner Lute gets C Staff, she's getting a Restore. It'll never leave her.
