  1. I have Astra on all my units who can get it and they're very consistent in activating it, plus they tend to critical on at least one of the hits. Where as my only character that activates Lethality consistently is Morgan who's got capped skill and Rightful King tacked onto him. I know player experience differs between each person, but statistically, you're more likely to activate Astra. Also I'm surprised people lose 5 durability points, Owain activated it for me with one weapon usage left and his weapon broke after he hit all five times?? Odd. (He also didn't have access to Armsthrift since his father was Stahl in this file) Anyways, there is seriously nothing wrong or disappointing with a character model having more than one weapon attached to it, but being able to equip only one. It's been done in older games, this is nothing new. All three GBA games had pirates duel wielding axes in their sprites, and assassins doing the same. Swordmasters are the one who do it in this game is all it is. They're swordmasters, so it seems cooler that they're carrying all of them in my opinion, also it kind of makes sense when you've got them loaded up with multiple swords anyways, hahaha
  2. I'm up to 157 hours in my play log. I already deleted a file in game to start up another one (It was like 47 hours), but my file I'm leaving as my streetpass team alone has over 60 hours on it.
  3. If you take Frederick into EXPonential growth, he makes a vague breaking the 4th wall reference to him being a Jeigan/Oifey archetype, regardless if you've already reclassed him to a base class or not. His exact quote is: 'An unusual enemy like this ought to yield ample experience. Perhaps these foes should be left to units with more room to grow than me. But that doesn't mean I'll hold back if they stand in my way! Normally I'd just think it was him referencing him being a senior knight, but he actually says the word 'units' in his quote so yeah, he's definitely breaking the fourth wall there.
  4. But outside of manipulating glitches and having Holyn be their father, any other time it's limited to Shanan. But there's possibly more than one major blood carrier in two of their generations... I think it would, given how Jurgdal seems to be working, and also with Leif's new DLC in Awakening mentioning he never had the brand but Altenna did. At least when you take into consideration how FE4's game mechanics work, in that you have to have a character with major blood in order to wield their respective weapons. It's possible that neither Galzus or Mareeta even tries to wield Balmung, since Shanan is it's default wielder.. I think I want to give up understanding their bloodline, it's breaking the perceived normal workings of the others, ha.
  5. Hm, then Odo's bloodline works differently than the others. According to that gene tree, every other family operates under the 'once per generation rule'. I wonder why that is... maybe they just do more in-family marriages than any other tree?
  6. From what I remember/saw in the Jurgdal series, it seems like only one descendant from each generation gets Major Holy Blood so only one person can wield their holy weapon. Characters with siblings show this best: Lief (Minor) vs Altenna (Major) Raquesis (Minor) vs Eltshan (Major) Adean (Minor) vs Briggid (Major) But I know you can manipulate Ayra's children's blood if you have her marry Holyn to get Larcei and Ulster to have major blood, but they still lock Balmung to just Shanan I think. Anyways, the point I'm making is, I think Jurgdal's bloodlines are way more exclusive compared to the Exalt's bloodlines. While a lot of characters in the Jurgdal series carry minor blood, major blood resulting in a brand is much more rare than the Exalt's brand, seeing as both Emmeryn and Chrom in their generation, and then Lucina and Owain (and possibly Lucina's sibling) all inherit it. I'm not very clear on if Mananan and Maricle both had major Odo blood though, so they might dispel what I just said if they do. But I know in the other cases mentioned above, it was once per generation and seemed to be directly affected by who has the major blood in the previous generation.
  7. The only actual thing they said about Lissa not inheriting it was that it was completely by chance her's never surfaced, which was mentioned in Owain's recruitment I think... They never went into detail over it, so I guess Lissa was just a fluke if every other descendant of the Exalt in the game has the potential for or already has the Brand.
  8. I think the general principle behind the Brands in each universe is the same, albeit work differently. Jurgdal's Holy Markings are passed down in their family lines and allow their hosts to wield the legendary weapons of that world. (Granted to them by Naga) The Mark of the Exalt and the Mark of Grima seem to have the same idea as Jurgdal's. At least the Exalt one, since it allows it's bearer to wield Falchion.. (also from Naga) The Brand in Tellius is the only one that's different, though it still grants it's bearers stronger power over at least humans, it just doesn't follow the concept of weapon exclusivity with them. Though, didn't Altina's line have some special gift only those with the Brand could perform? Like singing the Galdr of release, or could any heron do so I can't remember.. If so then at least in that instance it's similar to the other worlds brands. Fire Emblem has a tendency to repeat concepts in each game, so it wouldn't surprise me if all the Brands work with similar concepts through each series. Awakening especially ties in a lot of things from other series.
  9. Since it's not claimed and I've got most of their supports, I'm going to lay claim to Libra x Brady parent support EDIT: And here it is. It's pretty much similar to the Gaius version I transcribed, though they did change around some of Libra's phrasing at least. A nice contrast between his and Gaius' speech pattern. [spoiler=Brady x Libra (Parent Support)] [spoiler=C Support] Brady Tea's ready. It's the, uh... The whatsit kind. From that place. You know, the expensive junk. Libra Um... Brady Well...? Whaddya waitin' for? A royal invitation? It's all set and ready to go-just the way ya like it. Libra Uh, Brady? Brady Let's step it up, old-timer! Tea ain't gettin' any hotter! Libra Oh, right. S-Sorry... *sip* ...But, Brady? Brady Yeah? Libra What did you mean, "just the way I like it"? I'm not much of a tea drinker... Brady Whaddya mean? You drink it every day. You never miss teatime. Libra I've had the odd cup here or there, I've never had a "teatime" in my life. Brady ...WHAT?! Ma told me to join ya in your daily tea ritual! Even gave me detailed instructions! Wait... Did she make it all up? Libra Considering I don't even know what a "tea ritual" is, I suppose she did. Brady That dirty... I bet she's laughing her head off right about now! Libra Er, what exactly did she tell you? Brady Oh, don't you worry. I'm gonna have me a nice, long chat with dear ol' Ma! You just sit there and drink your damn tea. So long, old-timer! ...Oh, and set this on top of the pot. It keeps the tea warm. Libra ...When did my life get so odd? [spoiler=B Support] Brady Sorry about last time, old-timer. Libra What, the tea? Hardly something to apologize for. I was happy for the chance to chat. Brady Well, good. But I still feel bad you wound up drinking alone. Anyway, I brought my violin by way of apologizin' Libra ...I'm sorry? Brady Yeah, exactly. I wanna say I'm sorry, and I heard that requires a violin performance. Libra It...does? Brady What, were ya born in a barn? Course it does! I gotta tickle the catgut for three songs, then do a backflip. That's when you stand up and start clappin' and cheerin' and throwin' roses. ...Er, at least, that's what Ma said. Libra Brady, listen to me. No one has ever apologized to me that way before. ...EVER. Your mother's having fun with you again. Brady What, AGAIN?! Oh, that tears it! I'm gonna- Libra Brady, wait. Brady What?! Libra As long as you're here, let's just enjoy a nice chat and forget about Maribelle. I'm almost thankful, really. If not for her japes, you'd probably wouldn't have come by. Brady Forget Ma? But she's been playing me like a dancin'-monkey organ guy! Aw, heck. Fine. I guess I can put up with her horseplay a bit longer... It'd be nice to just sit back and chew the fat a bit. Libra It's settled then! Pull up a seat... [spoiler=A Support] Brady And then Ma pulls out that li'l umbrella of hers, and she says- Libra Heh heh... Brady ...What are ya laughing for? I ain't even at the punchline yet. Libra I'm just glad we're able to talk like this, Brady. I'll admit, I was a little shocked when I first saw you. You seemed kinda...scary. Brady Yeah, well. Sorry I'm all scary. I guess if you don't like it, do a better job of raising the real deal. Libra What, you mean the Brady of this era? Brady Yeah. I ain't your real son, anyway. I mean, not exactly. Libra ...... Brady, I... Brady Aw, what? What's with that face? I don't need no pity. Unlike some of the other kids, I ain't jealous of the Brady from this timeline. We're two different cats, yeah? No hard feelings. Once the real one's born, you can forget about me. I'll bow out all graceful-like. Libra Brady, how can you say that after we've gotten so close? You think I'd just cast you aside once my son is born? I would never do that. You're my friend, Brady. ...And my son. Brady Pop, I... *sniff* Aw, damn. I decided not to cry, and then ya go and say crap like that... *sniffle* I was lyin' about what I said before, Pop! It does matter to me! Please don't forget me! Just...remember that we were good pals once, yeah? Real chums. Libra I could never forget you, Son. I'll remember you until the gods call me home and love you as my future self would. Brady Okay, no more talk of dyin'. If you go boots up before me, I'll douse your grave in more tea than ya can stand. I'll play my voilin and do a backflip if I have to. Don't try me, old-timer! Libra Ha! Then I suppose it's settled. I can't very well die now, can I?
  10. I make sure that any mother who can reclass to the peg knight tree that has a son passes down Galeforce, also working on the same opposite with Counter and father's with daughters. Outside of those, Aptitude is my must pass down from Donny. Other than those, Renewal, Lifetaker and Vengeance (if the child is naturally in a melee class and won't inherently make a good magic user at all) are some of my favorites to pass down. Or if I just want a handy skill right off the bat for the kids, I've passed Deliverer down to Yarne and watched him speed across a field when paired up almost instantly, that was handy. Other good skills would be Aegis, Sol and Luna definitely... There's a lot of good skills but I mostly make my decisions based on 1. gender exclusive skills 2. whether I think the kid will be good in the class that has the skill I want for them to have (for example, I just powered Cordelia to a level 5 sorcerer to get vengeance so I won't have to waste time with severa in that class since Gaius is her father and I think she'd be just as bad in the class) and 3. in the case that option 1 or 2 isn't a big factor, whatever skill I think would be useful from the get go.
  11. Aah, I have three Avatar's going, one of which is completed, one I'm half way through with and one I just started up for the sake of creating him. The first one, Helina. Married Stahl, had Morgan. Kind of a sloppy playthrough since I just wanted to power through the story and beat the game. Current one, Sterre. Married to Chrom, has Lucina and Morgan. Her file is going to be my streetpass team so I'm investing way more time into maxing out everyone's stats and skill harvesting. And then my inevitable male file that got delayed because I wanted to marry Chrom. Hoping Emmeryn's spotpass will be out before I take him up seriously, otherwise he'll marry Cherche in the meantime.
  12. All the spotpass characters should have supports with someone other than the avatar. Especially Emmeryn, you think they'd have given her supports with Chrom and Lissa, maybe even Frederick? Also Gangrel and Aversa seeing as they have a history (also Yen'fay and Say'ri come on IS). Not sure about who I'd flag out for Priam and Walhart specifically to support with other than maybe Chrom, but Priam especially lacks in development so it would have been nice if they had included more for him. Also in the camp that thinks Sumia's romance options shouldn't be limited. I get why Chrom's are, but the choice to pair him with maybe Miriel (they are both Shepherds) or Cordelia (give the girl a break) would have also been nice. Anyways, besides those obvious beefs that everyone has, I'd like to have seen more interaction between the original Shepherd boys. Like Stahl x Frederick (I assume he taught Stahl too since Sully was mentioned to have been his student before?), Vaike x Frederick, etc. Same applies to all the girls in the Shepherds too. I like to imagine them as a close knit group so I would have liked to see more development between the lot and not just the 2 same gender supports per character that seems to be in there. Also more supports for Tiki, Say'ri and Anna, the girls are lagging in them since they're not viable romance options for the rest of the boys.
  13. I don't know about that part actually. In his support with Panne they talked about how his people think he abandoned them and fled for his life but really he took a risk and left thinking that enemy soldiers would follow him and leave his people alone (They all refused to turn him in and were getting slaughtered is what I remember of it). The soldiers were after him so he was hoping they'd solely focus on him and he got labeled a coward and traitor for it. Poor guy
  14. I adore a lot of ships in this game but I do have a few stand outs. Chrom x Sully because I just like their dynamic. Two strong people and old friends who like to look out for each other, plus I think Sully would make a good Queen (Chrom needs someone equally as strong support him through losing Emmeryn so that's my logic behind this). Lissa x Donnel is just too freaking cute for me. Donny's quite the charmer. Lon'qu x Cherche for the background it gives him. Also him being Gerome's father and getting into a glaring contest is great..... Gaius x Maribelle for background too. Gaius is surprisingly willing to go far out of his way for someone he doesn't even know. Fredrick x Sumia is probably my favorite support for her. He's very patient. Male Avatar x Emmeryn will be my depressing favorite once I'm able to make it happen augh. And on that note, Female Avatar x Stahl was my favorite for her even though I think she's cute with a lot of people.... And I don't really have any major Gen 2 ships other than Lucina x Gerome. This game supports my desire for multi shipping though so really, everyone x everyone is my favorite ship of all.
  15. I know she has her reasoning but I personally don't feel like it justifies testing hexes on Noire, and in the father supports for her she mentions Tharja hexing her father if he tried to stop her from doing it? I'm just not okay with it personally. To me it reads off as an abusive relationship with both of them, and even though that doesn't mean she DOESN'T love them (there's always some degree of love in abusive relationships) it still comes off as abusive to me. yeah her skill is easily fixable in this game but she's level 16 for me right now with 8, and two of those are from a secret book, so she only really gained it once in my file. I'm raising her enough to pair her with Gregor and get her some decent stats for Noire, but I don't really like her as a unit. And skill means a lot more to me since I like classes like Myrmidons who have high skill, but it really is a problem that I can't get Tharja to HIT anyone. (I haven't looked at the dark mage passive skills but both her and henry have missed quite a few times for me so I have no idea what's going on, Tharja just misses more than Henry hence why I prefer him) I can see why people like Tharja, but I just personally don't sorry : (
  16. I don't outright hate any character, but I am highly bothered by some characters more than other. Sumia I am constantly mad at myself over. I think she had a lot of potential but I feel like the developers spent more time making her the perfect wife for Chrom than developing her outside of it, and I'm sorry, but her supports with Gaius really did bug me (who throws a beehive at a person and then gets away with it for making cakes holy cow). However, I do think her supports with Frederick were one of her better ones so that did give her more brownie points. She's also a pretty good unit stat wise. So I'm constantly between being passive at best with her and being bothered. I just don't like the klutzy girl with a heart of gold archetype when the game forces on you so much that you should like her.... But I don't really hate Sumia. Just on the fence constantly and never making up my mind. And then Cynthia just... Sumia's klutzyness with Owain's flare for being overdramaticly heroish is far too much for me to handle. Lukewarm towards her but I need to get more of her supports before I have a solid opinion on her. I can't get into Tharja at all. It really bothers me what she does to Noire and her husband and while she potentially changes after you get her A support with Noire, it doesn't change the fact that she experimented on her daughter upon first meeting her. Child abuse really bothers me and I'm not into Yandere personality types anyways. She also refuses to gain SKL for me in game so she doesn't hit well and I'm just better off using Henry. Probably the only character I'm somewhat close to hating but it's more of a mild aversion and anger that I feel. Never not mad at Gangrel over Emmeryn, though I guess he was being played by Aversa and was mad at the last Exalt for what he did. I didn't find him as funny as other people did but eeh, I don't hate him either. Uh... I bounce back and forth between feelings towards Severa too. On one hand I feel bad for her because her parents died and she carries baggage over it so she acts all angry to avoid being hurt again, but on the other hand she does play her dad pretty badly and throws quite the temper tantrum. I do find her entertaining though. Lon'qu has some pretty dumb moments, and I'm on the boat that thinks he can be a little sexist. In his C support with a female Avatar I remember him refusing to spar with her and even made a comment about swordsmanship being a mans pursuit? And got rightfully pelted with figs for it. I do like him with just about everyone else though but he tends to screw me over often and never dodges low numbered hit rates. I don't enjoy Virion all that much either though I at least think he's more sympathetic than I originally thought now that I paired him with Panne and got more backstory. I wish I understood his english voice actor more.. I think that's about it with my beefs. No one I outright hate, just some people that bother me to varying degree's. Awakening does a good job overall with it's character development even if a lot of it is trope-ish.
  17. My same reasoning. Their supports were just really sweet all together and the closure it gives Lon'qu is great. Also the speed boost wasn't all that bad either
  18. I went with Donnel. They're both adorable and I'm a sucker for Princess/Village boy pairings.
  19. Praise Naga I am such an airhead. I finished Stahl x Male Morgan days ago and I could have sworn I posted it but I don't see it anywhere in my last few posts. SO NOW I'M DONE FOR REAL: Stahl x Male Morgan
  20. I was going to play as a male directly afterwards but I married Stahl in my first run and I kind of lamented over not marrying Chrom instead for all the story purposes so I went directly into another female run for it. Also I'm waiting on Emmeryn's spotpass chapter to come out..... eventually...
  21. They'll both inherit those skills regardless if Chrom has them or not. It's one of those things where he will ALWAYS pass down Aether to daughters and Rightful King to sons even if he doesn't have the skills himself. That happened on my first file when I got Lucina before I ever promoted Chrom (reclassed him like three times first)
  22. I figured it did. Since I've only been playing as a female though that's just my observation from my game. I swear I'll play a male avatar someday...
  23. I voted for Female Avatar because of story reasons (IMO Sumia/Chrom is shoved in your face a lot early on but i think the game switches to Chrom/FeAvatar in the second half? Then again I supported Morgan and Lucina romantically and they're both like 'WHY DIDN'T OUR PARENTS MARRY THEY'RE SO CLOSE' har har har) But my true favorite is Sully. Ylisse needs a badass queen that'll knock some sense into Chrom every once in a while. Nameless Maiden for true canon though
  24. Donny's easy enough to train on Normal Mode and by the end of the game I think I only got Morgan to rival him before I got lazy and just charged to the end of the game. I'm just starting my Hard Mode run but I don't even know how practical it's gonna be to try to raise him... I do want to pass Aptitude down to someone though so maybe I'll put up with it. Just maybe. But really, I (personally) think it's hard to deny that Donny can easily be one of the strongest characters in the game if you invest in him. He's just the biggest pain in the ass to raise and sometimes you just don't have the patience to deal with it. Nothing wrong with it, it's not like there's no abundance of units in the game you can spend the same amount of time reclassing and retraining versus spending it all on just Donny.
  25. I only did half my intended pairings because I just couldn't be arsed to micromanage like, 12 pairings in the first generation alone. Whoops. Anyways: Chrom x Sully I have nothing against all of Chrom's other marriage candidates, but I felt that overall, with everything that was going on, Chrom needed a strong lady that would support him through losing his sister and running a country and Sully was the best fit. Also Sully is a certifiable badass (though I think Maribelle would have been equally as good in this role). (F) Avatar x Stahl I like dorks and Stahl is the king of them all. My only regret is that because of him, my Morgan's RES stat was kind of bad to start out with. Frederick x Sumia I feel like a bad person because I try to like Sumia, like really really hard, but most of the time I'm just indifferent to her. However, her supports with Frederick were highly amusing to me and they did create a rather decent Cynthia. Also I figured she'd be best suited to have Mr. Combat Butler by her side. They really did make a good duo when I used them (however I ended up benching both of them for being mediocre. At least Cynthia wasn't too hard to boost up to the same levels as I had the other kids I got) Lon'qu x Cherche I picked this pair because I read the translated version of their support in the japanese support thread and I really liked how much backstory it gave for Lon'qu. Also Gerome was in need of a speed boost. They created an awesome Gerome in the end (also the sheer idea of Lon'qu trolling his son in their supports are HILARIOUS) Maribelle x Gaius Another case of having read the translated version and liking the backstory it gave. Had a really nice development pace through their supports, and also Maribelle and Gaius are both just winners. I had to grind Maribelle a lot though in order to get her skill and speed up in order to salvage Brady, but he ended up being one of my better child characters in the end. Effort worth it I guess.... Donnel x Lissa Who doesn't like stories of a country bumpkin marrying a princess. Their supports are just really freaking sweet and I love them. Also Donnel passing Good Growths (Aptitude? I don't remember the english name sorry) down to Owain was great. Libra x Cordelia Did this on a whim because it wasn't claimed in the english support thread. Turned out rather hilarious with how much Libra had to babysit Cordelia. They produced a pretty balanced Severa so it wasn't all that bad. Olivia x Gregor I vaguely remember thinking it would be a good idea to give Inigo a mercenary father and I have no idea why that was a good plan in my head. Gregor didn't really pass anything useful down to Inigo, but after a few reclasses for both his parents, Inigo came out swell. Gregor is such a ham though with all his flirting, so I like to think that that's where Inigo really got it from haaa. Vaike x Panne I got them to an S rank and never used them again. Yarne was terrible for it and it was all my fault. (M) Morgan x Lucina I wanted to be Chrom's in-law because I regretted not marrying him in my first file. Kjelle x Gerome I thought it'd be funny to see the serious training knight and the grouchy wyvern rider together. It kind of was. My only regret is she never punched his mask off. Severa x Inigo I had started working on it but didn't finish it before I hit endgame. I'll probably go back and finish it in my post game sometime. If I hadn't been so eager to start up a new file to marry Chrom for story reasons, I probably would have taken the time to pair Cynthia with either Owain or Brady. Probably Owain.
