  1. I'm not bringing up realism; I'm dismissing bogus claims about it demanding an annoying durability feature. I haven't tested it myself, but it feels like a pretty safe bet.
  2. The S rank weapons do have their uses, but being better than Iron over the course of two rounds of combat isn't great, especially if you need more consistent damage output that you could get with something like Steel. Furthermore, I might be wrong, but comparing over the course of two rounds of combat like that doesn't seem like an entirely fair comparison because if you use the weapon again on the second round, your Strength will still be halved on the third round, so you have to keep accounting for that until a round where you don't use the S rank weapon. Silver weapons seem much easier to use than half Strength weapons for "need high damage now" purposes.
  3. Berwick Saga also has a system like that, but it's just annoying. Having a powerful weapon randomly break after just a few uses is even more unfun than having to limit to a set number of uses before it breaks.
  4. The realism talk doesn't make much sense. A good bow isn't going to be useless after you fire it 20 times.
  5. The Hoshido Priest promotions, Ballistician/Witch, and Lodestar/Great Lord. Not that I'm sure why anyone would see this as a good thing. Regarding wind magic, it seems like they went back to a sort of GBA/DS system of stuff just lumped together, and that was always light on wind magic. Definitely could've used more variety, though.
  6. I haven't heard anything about the Jacob and Deere support; what happens?
  7. Bronze weapons have lacked critical hits since their introduction, I believe. While I do love both games, and I do think they put weapon durability to some good uses, it can be a big source of frustration and encourages potentially unnecessary micromanaging, so there are upsides and downsides. I'm not certain it'd be better this way, but I could see both games being improved by removing weapon durability and re-balancing the weapons other ways.
  8. But a Lancereaver is weak against axes and neutral to swords, while an axe is the opposite.
  9. The effects could use some balancing but they're so great. I love having so much more of an emphasis on choosing weapons based on the current turn or upcoming ones rather than relying on vague worries about future chapters; the strategic choices are more meaningful and at the same time it's a lot more relaxing. I never want to go back. And with all the improvements to the skill system, it feels like a safe bet that they really will improve the effects as well. As for Proximity Shot, isn't that enemy only? Unless anyone knows of a way to get it, I'm quite certain it's a non-issue.
  10. Pokemon offers a handful of tiny changes for the price of a whole extra game. Fates offers entire additional stories for the price of half a game. The way they market the physical versions of Fates does invoke the idea of Pokemon but they're really not at all comparable.
  11. Yes, each Golden Coin gives you one battle's worth of bonus.
  12. That doesn't necessarily mean people will always WANT to play the third path over the other two. Have you seen its level design?
  13. In Awakening, there's no reason to ever make the "wrong" choice. In Fates, there's plenty of reason to choose to side with Hoshido or Nohr, arguably more reason than there is to side with neither.
  14. That would also fit. What is this, Reverse Darth Vader?
  15. Does Nyx show up as an enemy anywhere in Hoshido route? Every other playable character seems to appear as an enemy at least once in routes where they're not playable but I can't think of anyplace for her.
  16. You have an interesting definition of good battle models.
  17. Again, this isn't Awakening. You have to not only get the support points and make the support level, but you even have to click through the special warning box that comes up at every S or A+ support. Not impossible but it should be extremely rare.
  18. The change from Second Seals to Parallel Seals and Eternal Seals does seem odd but it works. I didn't feel quite the same readiness to jump in and start playing around with it as in Awakening but once I tried it it seemed to work quite well. I suggest not dismissing it too quickly.
