  1. I'm actually not sure. I think they retain things to some extent, but not entirely.
  2. This is beautiful. Wasn't expecting someone to step up to the task this fast.
  3. Ah, yes. Forgot about him/her. Yeah, that could be a great option if you decided to use something other than swords or tomes, although I generally find those to be enough.
  4. I assume it's because of a lack of images, but having the two versions of Lord but only Krom's version of Great Lord is a bit odd. Maybe just stick with Krom's version for simplicity, at least for now?
  5. It should be, but I tend to not find much motivation to use those weapons, regardless. Even if you'll reach Steel twice as fast, Bronze is still a very bad place to be. That, and the only Gen 1 characters with access to Cavalier and therefore Discipline are Krom, Sol, Soiree, Frederick, and Richt.
  6. I've gotten great results with Noire, but there's a real lack of primary bow users, and raising secondary weapon levels is hard enough with melee weapons.
  7. Well that would just be terrible. Oh, he is. Assuming the DLC depictions of the SpotPass teams are to be believed, which they should be.
  8. I think this is the biggest point. Any FE game before FE6 has serious interface challenges that won't be great for a new player, and FE6 can be quite challenging, indicating it as not a great starting point either. So seriously, even if you're not worried about the language barrier, don't start with a game before FE7.
  9. No. The only way Lucina and Mark can have a parent-child relationship is if you pair male MU with Lucina, which means you get female Mark.
  10. Just buy FE7 used and hope the original owner already completed it once so you can avoid the tutorial completely.
  11. Changed to a more accurate and less extreme version. As much as I love bashing translation patches, my initial comments were a bit of an exaggeration, but I'll stand by my current ones. A first time player should play a complete game, not the mess of a broken, incomplete patch.
  12. Anyone know where to look to get the full script for the Nada Kuya conversation?
  13. Unless you can read Japanese, starting with anything before FE7 is a bad idea because of the language barrier. It's easy to work around once you've played one or two games in English, though: playing a Japanese game can quickly feel as natural as playing an English one. I mean, you could use a translation patch, but they have some serious issues, particularly bad for your first impressions of the series. Personally, I can't say they're great for any stage of play, but eh.
  14. FE8 first, and get FE13 whenever it comes out in America. FE9 before FE10. No particular timing concerns for FE7 and FE11, although if you can play FE11 before FE13, that would probably be good.
  15. Depends on the game. I avoid resets in FE8 and TRS to keep the game interesting, but I avoid it in the harder ones, like FE13 and Berwick Saga. And I don't really play the other games anymore anyway.
  16. Paris appears in MU's ingame support list and Support Library list regardless of gender. He also appears in male Mark's Support Library, but not his ingame support list. This indicates Paris is available as a potential father for male Mark, as he would be available as a support only as Mark's father, and therefore not show up on the ingame list otherwise. The Support Library shows all possibilities, though: other potential fathers get the same treatment if MU didn't pair with them. In other words, the exact same support presence as the other three male characters that join in SpotPass sidequests.
  17. From a gameplay perspective, it's nice having the variety, but it would've worked just as well with Fighter or something as an option so as not to be totally terrible. But then, I could say that about any non-bow user with Archer as an option.
  18. Personally, it's my favorite in the series by far, and I've found it well worth the price. But no sense jumping to buy it with E3 just around the corner: even if it's worth the increased price, it'd be even more worth the lower price, assuming you have an American 3DS.
  19. In the original timeline, yes. The children return to change that.
  20. I don't believe they would make seven relevant games and then just randomly start making irrelevant ones. Just because the connections aren't clear outside of FE13 doesn't mean they don't exist.
  21. My experiences lead me to the same conclusion. He's a great frontliner anyway; no sense giving that up. Better to make him a Master Lord and then a Bow Knight. Aether and Royal Weapon are too good to pass up.
  22. It really doesn't. Not when we see FE1/2/3/4/5 which are clearly connected and then FE6/7 which also fit in extremely well.
