  1. I'm not even sure you can give it two animations, in fact (Heal + Fire). Or attack with staves to begin with. But I never tried, sooo...
  2. That's a legitimate question. ;) Yes, I'll make so that Monsters drop some money. Especially if I can't prevent monster skirmishes from spawning continuously... I'll have to make so that monsters in skirmishes don't give any exp, but only money. It's just an idea for now, though. I'm still trying to hack skirmishes properly. You'll also find a lot of money in the chapters anyway, don't worry. I'll be sure to balance the gold you can get. Ch.9B is almost finished anyway. It took me way more than expected. Screenies are coming soon. If anybody wants to take a look at the events (97% complete) for whatever reason, here you go: chapter9shiori6.txt
  3. I totally support this hack. I've seen the FEE3 video and I've to say... cool graphics so far, nice story, interesting and fun characters, cool animations and music, entertaining gameplay (which is actually something that some hacks lack). Great job so far, I hope to see this completed someday.
  4. .....Oh derp sorry, Lindsy X°D Bahahah I'm getting senile. @Deino: You seriously used the Croissant in a legitimate way. You're my hero.
  5. Ahah. :) Varsaul lacks Hit. Also, I have to ask you to make 2 separate images. For the poll, that is. @Lindsy, @tuvarkz I see some interesting entries so far guys, good job!
  6. Is Agnés, like, 200 years old in this? Because, you know... [spoiler= end of Bravely Default] Magnolia said they were living in another era...
  7. That's written in text, please submit an image or a screencap like the others. ;)
  8. Updated the first post with all the weapons submitted so far, and added this bit of information:
  9. It's already implemented, but I plan to polish it some more and release it in version 2.0. Not sure about the deadline, I'll set it when I feel like I've already received a good number of entries. The limit is 2 entries per person. Adding that to the first post. Whoa, sure thing! You're great, crazycolorz! ;)
  10. Nice work, but I think it's a lame mechanic. You're basically saying that bows > all while attacking and countering at a distance. Quite broken, uh. That's a bit of an aggressive approach, Ashley. If all else fails, I'll take that into account anyway. Thank you very much. ;) About the endings: - Completing the story normally will give you the tragic ending - Retrieving a special item in the ruins before clearing the last map will give you the good ending - Clearing another task will give you the perfect ending ...Or something along these lines. Also, I can make the Ruins (and the Tower) available whenever I want. A good part of the world map events has been hacked. But I'll probably leave them where they are anyway. Not sure I'm your buddy as of now Klok, but thanks for the suggestions. Couldn't you say it this way from the beginning? Oh well, let's forget everything. ^^ Thank you very much for the insight. Indeed, I need to polish things a bit there. I won't cut the introduction with all the countries though, that's a nice way to present the world imo. Way better than doing so with simple text. I'll tweak some sentences here and there anyway. And about Moonie's explanation of the term "Vassal", that's an important part of the story, I can't cut it. But I've found a fancy way to make it optional. You'll see. It'd be cool to have skill proc animations! By the way, create your Midnight Sun weapon! P.S. Also, Cattleya isn't bottom-tier as many people think. The first part of the game doesn't help make her shine because it's full of high def, hard hitting enemies, but in the second part of the game there'll be faster units, which means that her skill and speed will be pretty useful. Especially her skill. Also, take a look at her averages.
  11. 4th October 2014 update: RESULTS -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Hello, everybody! Nice to meet you. I'm Alfred Kamon, creator of the FE8 hack "Fire Emblem: Midnight Sun". I'm introducing the forging mechanic into the hack, and I wanted to hold a contest to celebrate the event! If you want more info about forging, here you go: [spoiler=Forging] -*-*Forging*-*- You'll be able to combine various objects and weapons to forge new weapons! Just talk to the blacksmiths you'll find in the Tower of Trials after a certain point of the story! First of all, these are the "objects" you can drop in skirmishes or get by beating the Trials of the Tower: * Bronze (lv.1 weapon forging material) * Mythril (lv.2 weapon forging material) * Obsidian (lv.3 weapon forging material) * Adamantium (Legendary weapon forging material) * Magic Dust (lv.1 magic forging material) * Spirit Dust (lv.2 magic forging material) * Soul Dust (lv.3 magic forging material) * Divine Dust (Legendary magic forging material) Materials value: - Bronze/Magic Dust: sell for 500 gold - Mythril/Spirit Dust: sell for 1250 gold - Obsidian/Soul Dust: sell for 2600 gold - Adamantium/Divine Dust: unsellable Some examples of forging: - Steel Sword + Heal + Mythril + 1500 gold = Soothing Sword (heals 10 HP at the beginning of each turn when equipped) [materials value: 300 (at full uses) + 300 (at full uses) + 1250 + 1500 = max 3350, obtainable only through forging] - Silver Sword + Nosferatu + Obsidian + 2000 gold = Rune Sword (1-2 range, drains HP) [max 750 + max 1600 + 2600 + 2000 = max 6950. Can be bought in postgame for 7500 -> save at least 550 gold, and get it early] - Silver Sword + Shine + Obsidian + 1560 gold = Solaris (1-2 range, effective against some monsters) [max 750 + max 540 + 2600 + 1560 = max 5450. Can be bought in postgame for 6000 -> save at least 550 gold, and get it early] - Thunder + Spirit Dust + 500 gold = Bolting [materials value: 350 (at full uses) + 1250 + 1000 = max 2600 || Bolting value = 3000. || save at least 400 gold with forging] - Bolting + Soul Dust + 2400 gold = Thunderstorm (Anima tome with Brave effect) [max 1500 + 2600 + 2400 = max 6500, obtainable only through forging] - Aircalibur + Divine Dust + 15'000 gold = Excalibur Some examples of repairing: - Iron sword + 330 Gold = Full uses Iron sword - Steel Sword + Bronze = Full uses Steel sword - Silver Sword + Mythril = Full uses Silver sword Comparing prices: - Iron sword: buy for 460 gold (save up to 75 gold by repairing it instead of buying a new one) - Steel sword: buy for 600 gold (save up to 90 gold by repairing it instead of buying a new one) - Silver sword: buy for 1500 gold (save up to 213 gold by repairing it instead of buying a new one) -About: Entries- All you have to do is create your original weapon. You don't necessarily need an icon, even just the concept is ok. But write your concept in a .jpg or .png pic, that'll make things easier for the poll later. Entries written in simple text won't be accepted. And perhaps don't use huge pics, make something similar to the sample Every person can submit up to 2 entries. Be sure to include: - Name of the weapon - Mt, Hit, Crit, Range, Weight, Effect (if it has one) - Forging materials needed - An icon, if you have any*. *the creator reserves the right to change/make the icon for whatever reason Here's a sample: -About: Creation- Choose a weapon type (sword, lance, axe, bow, anima, dark, light). Give it some parameters (Mt, Hit, Crit, Range, Weight). Then pick and combine any (or none) of these effects: Status: Poison Sleep Berserk Stone Silence Effects: Brave Effect (strikes twice) Devil Effect (can do damage to himself instead of target. Perfect for a maso weapon) Reaver effect (reverses weapon triangle) Regen effect (heals HP at the beginning of each turn when equipped) Always Hits Res (like the magic swords) Bypasses Defenses (like Luna) Halves HP (like Eclipse) Effectiveness (deals more damage against some classes. For example, the Hammer against Knights) Qualities: Unsellable Unbreakable Can't be countered (like Bolting and other long range tomes. But it can be applied to any weapon. Please note that it's an OP effect.) Cannot double Stat boost (gives boosts to one or more stats, except Con and Mov) Passive boost (gives stat boosts even when not equipped) Negates criticals (the passive effect of the Hoplon Shield) Negates flying effectiveness (the passive effect of the Delphi Shield) Locks: Usable only by a certain character(s) and/or class(es) Animation (if it uses magic): Any magic animation from any FE games, including Roy's Binding Blade flames, FE7 dragon's breath, Idoun's breath (but mind that it's mirrored), Myrrh's breath and the Dracozombie breath. Exceptions: Forblaze, Ereshkigal, Aureola, Luce, FE6 Apocalypse, FE6 Forblaze, FE6 Fae's breath. You can EVEN combine different weapon ranks! An example? You can even create an item or a staff, but mind that they can't use the same effects as weapons. Each new effect needs to be coded and implemented (see: it might not be doable). -About: Forging Materials- The current items in Midnight Sun are the following: [spoiler=Midnight Sun items] Weapons: Iron weapons Steel weapons Silver weapons Poison weapons Agile weapons (low mt, high crit brave weapons) Brave weapons Reaver weapons Devil weapons Regen/Soothing weapons Tomes: -anima- Fire (E) Thunder (D) Holy Fire (C, reaver effect against Dark) Aircalibur (C, effective against fliers) Bolting (B, long range, uncounterable) Blizzard (B) Thunderstorm (A, brave effect) Excalibur (S, stat boost) -dark- Umbra (E) Oblumbra (E, Faratrass only, effective against knights) Vortex (D) Circulum (C, poisons) Vacuanox (C, reaver effect against Light) Reablumbra (B, Faratrass only, effective against knights, Res+2) Nerosol (B, long range, uncounterable) Tetrosol (B, long range, halves HP, uncounterable) Anathema (B) Hirudinea (A, steals HP) Miasma (S, Faratrass only, Pow+4, Def+4) Apocalypsis (S, stat boost) Armageddon (S, some other effect) -light- Light (E) Judgelight (E, Shiori only, effective against monsters) Flash (D) Candle (C, reaver effect against Anima) Skylamp (B, long range, uncounterable) Judisol (B, Shiori only, effective against monsters, Def+2) Candelabra (A) Catharsis (S, Shiori only, Spd+4, Luck+4) Sunlight (S, stat boost) Items: Vulnerary Elixir Holy Badge (=pure water effect) Weapon forging materials Magic forging materials Bio Solvent (might be used to forge weapons/tomes that cause status) Croissant (event item in chapter 5 lol) -About: Winners- Out of all the entries, TWO will be selected and inserted into the game: - The winner of the contest, chosen by the community through a poll voting system. - The creator's personal favorite, aka the weapon that inspired me the most. Should that be the winner of the contest, only that weapon will be inserted. The poll will be created once I get 32 entries. Feeling creative? Surprise us! Cheers, Alfred Kamon -Submitted Creations- [spoiler=List] Total entries: 32/32 user - weapon(s) Lord Glenn - Hailfang Fateborn - Nemesis Alm - Yomishi Sairento - Scythe, Phoenix Edge BlancHammer - Hraesvelgr Xtremekiwi - Tempest, Hell axe ShinyPichu - Dainsleif, Mizuchi A Nice Guy - Thunderblade, Ice Spear deer hands - Ascalone, Dragoon DiamondnJade - Midnight, Sun Toa - Astral Lance, Life Icon tuvarkz - Gàe Dearg, Tsubame Kira L95 - Varsaul, Dragonbreath Deino - Dramon Braker, Gluttony DH_Ninja - Saviour Crazycolorz5 - Farflame, Warm Staff Soen - Sogeki, Rigael Tryhard - Dragon Arrow, Sylpheed Klok - Hell's Bane, Batmobile Nemid - Devastation Skitty of Time - Bread Knife, Jolly THWAK
  12. I didn't. As I said, I have very limited internet access right now. I'll read it next week. ;)
  13. Yeah, they'll be similar to the paralogues in Awakening. I want them to be more relevant plot-wise, though. The paralogues aren't crucial in that plot, but I want some of the Lagdou floors to change the ending(s) in Midnight Sun completely. Also, that's some pretty brilliant intuition, Ashley. Good point! I'm still working on world map skirmishes in fact. I'm not totally sure I can prevent them from appearing on the map whenever you enter/exit the Tower, but I still have to consult Vennobennu throughly about it. In case, I could make so that world map skirmishes don't give exp, but it'd be a kinda meh solution. Most recipes will be unloackable and inserted in the "Info" command that will replace the "Help" command. You'll find different kinds of things there, from some trivia about the nations to some useful info like the recipes. But of course there'll be some secret recipes. Oh, it'll be funny to see you guys figure them out! That's false, Brendor. The forging mechanics are already in place. I just used a code that markyjoe did, and some crazy eventing of mine. However, I plan to semplify the mechanics and create some sort of "trade with blacksmith" mechanic where you just have to drag the items to the blacksmith's inventory and he'll combine them for you. Also, you won't lose money by repairing a Silver Sword instead of buying a new one. If you have an 1-use Silver sword (whose selling value is 37) and some Mythril (that you can sell for 1250), that means that with two materials whose total value is 1287, you get an item that you'd buy for 1500. So you save 213 gold if you use an 1-use Silver Sword, 176 gold with a 2-uses, 139 with a 3-uses, etc. You may lose money if you repair something that is fairly new (see: that it doesn't necessarily need to be repaired).
  14. Hey there! I'm sorry if I'm not around that much as of late, but I'm in... the middle of a forest, and I still can't believe I even found an internet connection! ...Fact is, I'll be able to use it for... er, about half an hour. So, I'll just tell you something about the progress of the hack. Progress info: - I've finished the first floor of the Tower of Trials. Like every other floor I'll make, it can be played in many different ways. After all, replayable maps should be -at least- interesting. ;) Tower floors won't be extensions of the main story-- they're just some extra maps that you're supposed to do in order to gain a bit of extra exp, since the main chapters from ch.9 will be pretty... intense. I'm still undecided whether to give extra characters in Tower battles or not... but probably yes. Ruins chapters WILL be extensions of the main story though, if everything goes according to plan. You need 1000 gold to access the main floor of the Tower (you don't have to pay any fees in postgame, though). From here, you have 15 turns to do stuff, like visiting the shops (more shops will be available as soon as you progress in the story), gaining some support points (because supports will be a thing in v.2.0 hopefully... sorry Ashley, a lot of work for you XD) and... ... trying to figure out how to beat Anna's challenge! But most importantly, you can select a trial. The harder the trial, the more you need to pay in order to play it. You need 1000 gold to access the First Trial, so that makes a total of 2000 gold. But hey, it's good for some extra exp, ya? Also, you can access the Tower only ONCE per chapter. We don't want any unnecessary grinding, right? One last thing: when you progress in the main story, some blacksmiths will join the main floor of the Tower. But I'll talk about forging in another paragraph! - Chapter 9B (Shiori's route) is (almost) done, and it's one of the most ambitious chapters I've created so far. ...Actually, it's probably the most ambitious ever. It's a prison chapter. I'll post some screenies later, when it'll be 100% finished. I've also projected some new mechanics. As for now... I present you these ones: New features & mechanics in v.2.0: -*-*Forging*-*- You'll be able to combine various objects and weapons to forge new weapons! First of all, these are the "objects" you can drop in skirmishes or get by beating the Trials of the Tower: * Bronze (lv.1 weapon forging material) * Mythril (lv.2 weapon forging material) * Obsidian (lv.3 weapon forging material) * Adamantium (Legendary weapon forging material) * Magic Dust (lv.1 magic forging material) * Spirit Dust (lv.2 magic forging material) * Soul Dust (lv.3 magic forging material) * Divine Dust (Legendary magic forging material) Materials value: - Bronze/Magic Dust: sell for 500 gold - Mythril/Spirit Dust: sell for 1250 gold - Obsidian/Soul Dust: sell for 2600 gold - Adamantium/Divine Dust: unsellable Some examples of forging: - Steel Sword + Heal + Mythril + 1500 gold = Soothing Sword (heals 10 HP at the beginning of each turn when equipped) [materials value: 300 (at full uses) + 300 (at full uses) + 1250 + 1500 = max 3350, obtainable only through forging] - Silver Sword + Nosferatu + Obsidian + 2000 gold = Rune Sword (1-2 range, drains HP) [max 750 + max 1600 + 2600 + 2000 = max 6950. (enemies get them too) All weapons use 1 "point" at B rank, 2 "points" at A rank and 3 "points" at S rank. +1 Mt/Def = 1 point (note: "Def" is referred to both magical and physical defense) +5 Hit/Avo/Crit/Crit Avo = 1 point Weapon | B rank bonus | A rank bonus | S rank bonus points: 1 point | 2 points | 3 points Swords | + 1 Mt | + 1 Mt, + 5 Avo | +2 Mt, +5 Avo Lances | + 5 Hit | + 1 Def, + 5 Hit | +1 Def, +10 Hit Axes | +5 Hit | + 10 Hit | +15 Hit Bows | +1 Mt | +1 Mt, +5 Hit | +1 Mt, +10 Hit Anima | +1 Mt | +1 Mt, +5 Crit Avo | +2 Mt, +5 Crit Avo Dark | +1 Mt | +2 Mt | +3 Mt Light | +5 Crit | +1 Mt +5 Crit | +1 Mt +10 Crit Weapon Triangle Advantage cancels the bonuses of the disadvantaged weapon! (aka Arcfalchion), as usual. -*-*Work-In-Progress*-*- > Class skills: every promoted class will have a unique skill. [Perhaps?] You'll be able to gain new character-based skills by meeting certain requirements. > New branched promotions system: I'm still projecting this, but my idea is to give the possibility to "re-promote" promoted classes into another promoted (only one). For example, Spellfencers (anima, swords) will repromote into Sages (anima, staves) and Sages will repromote into Spellfencers. By doing so, Spellfencers might get the use of Staves from Sages, and Sages will get something from Spellfencers (swords? light? I'm still working on this) Of course, this needs to be balanced accordingly. Variety will be given by weapon ranks and class/character skills. You'll get only 1-2 repromoting items during the main story, but they'll be purchasable in secret shops in postgame. > Support bonuses and support mechanics. A supports will give some unique skills or items. Support bonuses will be edited for balancing purposes.
  15. Uh, I'm leaving this Wednesday for a couple weeks. Consider my spot vacant at this pont.
  16. This topic needs to be renamed into Hello, Hi, Hey, HEYAAAA, HEYOOOO now.
  17. ? There's a code like that? As far as I know, changing the portrait of a character doesn't change its character ID, which is what is taken in account for some conditional events.
  18. > "HER PHYSICAL ABILITIES ARE THE SAME AS MARTH, IT MUST BE IN THEIR D.N.A." wat I'm not the same as my grangrangrandfather just because we share some blood I still think and hope she has something unique to her, apart from the sword.
  19. Or just drink some Wicked Blood for a good +2 speed boost! Does she? What a shame, I thought I was special. I'm the only one who can traumatise people in pokémon battles, after all!
  20. HOLY CRAP! And I just walked in three seconds ago! What are you Kinumi, a stalker?
  21. That's like saying that you expect a Colossus to appear in ch.4 because the map theme is from Shadow of the Colossus. Just don't make that association, man. I don't even know where most of the midis are from I'm glad you're liking the hack, anyway. ;o
