  5. for fe7, you can use some random pocket of memory to store the text slot and just write a "loader" routine before displaying the text; the problem is that the text isn't loaded in any nice place you can try getting something off my attempt, although be warned this is approaching a few years old

  7. i would argue that marcus vs sain is actually pretty close if and only if you allow sain to be marcus 2.0 by promoting early in lyn mode. and even then i'd give the edge to marcus because fe7 enemies are jokes and sain's minor stat leads mean approximately jack if you're not promoting sain in lyn mode than marcus absolutely destroys him E: I also agree that Oifey is probably one of the more well done early prepromotes; he's either your second or third best combat unit basically immediately (depending on how much swag seliph and lakche are holding out of the cradle). From there, aside from the stupid holy weapon users (see: base shanan vs endgame enemies) oifaye remains above average until like chapter 10 or endgame, at which point he's still solid
  8. i saw the title and was about to make a LUL joke but apparently this isn't fftf personally i think nintendo is trying to figure out its direction; i don't think it's actually changed at all (i've just grown up) but it does seem like the rate of first-party IPs is slowing down drastically

  10. that's used for exactly one animation, which is the hero's shield throw in its crit it uses some heavy hardcoded GBA hardware tricks to make that work; it just uses the same sprite and rotates it (instead of making each rotation its own frame)
  11. Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens. So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't. It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

  14. in fe7, the scene code "UNCR [character_id] 0x2" (i think, you may have to check me on that) reverses the death of [character_id] if they died that chapter. i know somebody (markyjoe? arch?) managed to make a casual mode style approach by basically running this on every available character at the end of every map. dead characters are cleared from RAM at the end of the map but it isn't as easy as clearing the "death flag" - that would put them right back into battle, zero health and all.
  15. to clarify, seliph will always get the tyrfing from bishop palmark. however, it will be in the same condition it was in at the end of sigurd's tale- if that means "broken and in vylon's dead hands", then it will still be broken when palmark hands it to you.

  17. I vote for a game where you don't reset level on promotion, weapons can be repaired for a price and your lord gets a sword that boosts stats up to +20 in certain stats Among other things, like a generation pairing system and castle-seizing based maps
  18. can the hel bishop actually survive seliph attacking him with the zerk sword? i suppose if you tune his skill perfectly so that you can miss one shot it might work but then i question how you were clearing the rest of the game also i thought someone just said that endgame julius doesn't have nihil? if he does after all then rip better rig misses E: i suppose it's worth mentioning that all of these numbers are eyeballed or from memory, hence why i'm not sure whether the hel bishop can survive seliph or not E2: Okay so I seriously underestimated the warlords. Hel Bishop has 80 HP/23 Def and Seliph has 43 attack at best with the Berserk Sword. So yeah, berserking the Hel bishop isn't that bad.
  19. Seliph with two Power Rings (yes, there are two) has 65 atk, halved to 32. Julius has 25 def, so you can actually do 14 damage per round of combat. This is actually quite a bit better than one power ring, as your damage per turn goes up to 13. Yurius has 55 attack, and Seliph with capped res and tyrfing has 38 res, so you take 17 damage per round. With the Life ring, that comes out to net 24 damage per turn, which means you can survive up to four turns, assuming Julius hits every shot. So, in short, you will need to rely on some crits (a crit does 39 damage so that increases things by a lot) and/or Julius missing a few things if you want to do this without a healer. The issue with the Berserk Sword attempt is that it's actually very difficult to keep that mage from dying to Seliph if his stats are actually high enough to fight the rest of the map E: on the subject of Reptor, he does more damage but actually only has 21 defense to pierce through (and no stupid Loptous effect) so you can pretty much obliterate him immediately if you're clever (60 atk - 21 def = 39x2 damage out of 75 hp)
  20. it gets a little dicey around "not dying to eldigan" but that's really it; it gets less painful the more allowances you make (brave sword, light sword, etc) but the core of it all remains the same the majority of high-speed runs aren't significantly different than a sigurd solo regardless; there's some time allotted to get lachesis exp so she can use rescue as a master knight but that's about it (also things like warp/rescue/sylvia) and those are arguably not-strictly-necessary accessories anyway
  21. unless you're willing to run through the game hundreds of time to get thousands of RNG results, that's going to be way too small of a sample
