Snowy_One have you played any of the games in the Ogre series? Tactics Ogre does have permadeath. And the game does have content that requires a character dying for it to be reached. Also, I'm not against FE getting a mode like that.

Here's something I saw somewhere else: Archers/Hunters/Snipers get bows that do effective damage to various unit. Examples: Piercing Bow=Effective damage on units like Generals. Beast Ray=Effective damage on units mounted on horses Going from this, the idea is that class group serves as a unit who focuses on killing various types of units.

And FE does?

Thinking about it, if reclassing was there for the 2nd Gen characters and was tied to classes of the parents, how would Seliph's class options be handled? Would somebody make a man version of the Shaman class to account for Deirdre? Or make Shamans not a class for women?

Even Gaiden?

Do any of you suppose that mounts might not have to have their stats and weapon access nerfed if there are less of them and mounts are treated as more of a rarer unit? With mounts being required to be purchased or found for at least a few mounted characters?

How come?

Thinking about it, I want the next FE that isn't a follow up to Awakening or a remake to have at least a few of the ideas here. FE has had permadeath for over a decade. It's about time that the series has started taking one of it's defining features (permadeath) and go even further with it.

What if they made a Fire Emblem featuring different gameplay?

Honestly, I do want to see what would happen if the next FE that wasn't a remake or a follow up to Awakening would "shake things up". Awakening had new mechanics, but it also had various things from past FEs. -
Does Thracia 776 deserve it's reputation for difficulty?

I know the game has things that can catch you off guard if you go in blind, but the enemies aren't really that strong compared to the playable characters, there's warping, etc. Well, does it? I'm curious. -
But FE keeps on having characters who aren't like that. Even Blazing Sword had Guy (Who is Ash Ketchum as a Mymidon). Or the Tellius games with Ilyana (and unlike Guy isn't really a good unit).

Blazing Sword's characters weren't really all that developed either. Let's be honest here. Fire Emblem is a series with dozens of characters, permadeath, and a support system where the characters options aren't limited that much by who he/she supports and how much. If you play for character development, then you're barking up the wrong tree.

FE isn't really a series that goes towards character development playable character wise.

But it's not like most characters really have that much development or even do that much in the story.

Most Fire Emblem characters don't really have that much character development nor do they really do that much through the story. Which isn't that surprising considering this is a series with dozens of characters and permadeath. Anyway, SD could have done side chapters differently, although I do say Nagi's chapter was the best.

I don't support how Shadow Dragon did the side chapter thing.

Earlier, somebody suggested for all player mechanics to apply to enemies. Well, would you support a FE actually doing that? Like say, enemies using Pair Up.

Here's a way to handle mounts in a game with dismounting from what I've seen: Certain units can get on mounts (and they don't always start being playable on a mount, where they get more mobility, along with stat bonuses and penalties, take effective damage from certain classes and/or weapons, etc. The mounts are killable (with the rider taking damage if the mount is killed while he or she is riding it) and can be found at various points.

I suggested Archers/Hunters/Snipers being able to do effective damage on mounts in another topic.

How is Jagen a "bad" unit? Especially compared to Oifey?
The Void replied to The Void's topic in NES and SNES Era
He's not better than Orsin.
