My card does not have one with this length.

They want a credit card, not the EC-card we use over here

You mean a security code? Most cards have that thing (commonly called CVV in some places).

You jest but this could genuinely be a Unique Monster name. I mean, Xenoblade 1 has Flabbergasted Jerome.

I still stand by "Sheldon, the Dentally Challenged" being among the very worst.

Some words are repeated identically or near-identically between games, "Territorial" being one. But, I don't think there could be more than ~40 recycled words at very best, plus a couple repeats within a given game. Monolith must've hired an energetic boku to come up with all of these and repeat so relatively little. Same for whoever got stuck translating these.

I'm predicting a "Winter xxx" UM/Tyrant next game. We have: the Spring Storm, Spring-Shower, the Summer Squall, Autumn Shower, but no Winter.

Honestly, I think RD Hard mode is bullshit anyhow. Anyway, I tend to not bother with the overpowered units the game gives you in part 1, because it only sets you up for failure later on. Of course, maybe I'm one of those who thinks if you get a blatantly overpowered unit in these games, there's likely a catch. See: Sacred Stones and Orson. After that, I'd be rather hesitant to let the likes of Tauroneo, Nailah, etc. see frequent use in part 1. That being said, I use Tauroneo and the BK as unarmed meatshields in part 1.

Well, there isn't really a catch in using at least Nailah and Tauroneo in Part 1 while you have them. I'm not usually fond of using overpowered units, either, but with how terrible the Dawn Brigade is (and how unwilling to use them I am), I usually try and find ways to avoid having to let them enter combat. Zihark and Jill usually see use in most Dawn Brigade chapters, as well, even if I rarely end up using them long term.

It's Lv.99. That's how it is in Xenoblade 1 and Torna as well. Xenoblade X's level cap is 60 but that's relative as the highest-leveled Superboss in that game is Lv.99. And Torna is a bit weird because the only enemies that are higher than Lv.60 are Superbosses, of which only one is above the level cap.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Unless it's Xenoblade 1 because of the level penalties.

Level 99 it is, then. Yikes...

Lulua has a harem.
Oh.
My.
Purple Heart.

Serious answer: Lulua wins that battle quite easily if you bring Ice Bombs and/or use Ficus' Ice magic.

---

Meanwhile in Xenoblade 2, I made it past that one thing I was stuck on because as it turns out, I was just too stupid to keep a proper distance from the thing. *headdesk*
Reached Fonsett village (so pretty!) and got mad, because the part of Rex' backstory that got revealed there matches the backstory of the male lead in my novel almost 1 to 1, meaning now I have to change it or else I'll forever accuse myself of ripping off Xenoblade 2. *more headdesk*
(Also, Pyra said some stuff that made me seriously concerned for her. "It'd be better for everyone if I didn't exist at all..." Girl, don't do anything dumb or else!)
Then I remembered that I still had yet to finish the quest for Vess' Core Crystal. Took me ages to find the location of the second golden glove in Mor Ardain, because the entrance there is hidden behind a near-suicide jump (I only managed to make Rex survive by stacking HP-increasing equipment). I finished the quest, nearly cried a little at the end and now I have Vess' Core Crystal, albeit it's still inactive.
Then I walk around Torigoth a bit when suddenly...

Needless to say, the main plot has been put on hold for the time being. Blade Quests are more important.

In other news, I feel like I finally grasped how the battle system works and I think I can make peace with it now, because getting all those different combos off is immensely satisfying, not gonna lie.
I love how your A.I. partners will switch to a Blade with an element that can continue the Blade Combo if they have it. For example, if a combo starts with a Light-type attack and can be continued with an Electric-type attack, the A.I. team member that has an Electric-attribute Blade with them will immediately switch to it (in my case, it's Nia who has one).
Semi-related to this: Roc is slowly becoming my favorite Blade to use, since his Wind element can contribute to nearly every Blade combo.

Also, bonus EXP OP. I got Rex and the gang from level 39 to level 48 in one stay at an inn. Now, next to no enemy even thinks about attacking me, which does have its disadvantages at times, I will admit.

I also just noticed that I already put 40 hours into this game and I am not even close to finishing the story. This'll probably be another 80-hour game, just like CS3 and Persona 5.

Sadly, if they have two of the needed elements, they usually wont switch to the other when you want them to.

I have noticed that they'll usually prioritize switching to the Blade in the second slot over the third, unless only the one in the third slot can continue the combo.

It shouldn't.
Though it does seem a little weird, because this is basically the game telling you to go grind a bit, but it's not too many enemies you need to fight, nor do you need to create too many items. I think it was 10 for both, but I can't remember the exact number. It shouldn't be much more than that.
You might also read it as "do whatever the eff you want for a while, just make sure to become a bit stronger and better at alchemy in the meantime".

Ah yes, the Fief of Forgetfulness.

More like they forgot how to make it accessible haha gottem. Like, i know it's a Secret Viewpoint and all but getting to it is just.....weird.

Nice! Yeah, your AI party members being competent when it comes to Blade Combos is a very big plus and had they not gotten that right, it would've broken the system imo....

...Although this is the occasional bump in the road. Sometimes you want to do a specific Blade Combo but the AI wants to do a different one.

Ah yes, this one. FYI, whenever the Alchemyriddle ask you to do a thing a certain amount of times, it will be always be 10 times.

Personally, those riddles were my least favorite. Thankfully thoses cases are few.

Ah yes, this one. FYI, whenever the Alchemyriddle ask you to do a thing a certain amount of times, it will be always be 10 times.

Good to know! I thought i would need like 1000 battles/items total or something lol.

I'm guessing you haven't unlocked the thing where Chim Dragon restocks your equipped items and tools for a fee yet (how much you pay depends on how much you need restocked).

Level 99 it is, then. Yikes...

The XC2 final boss by the way should be doable at far less than 99, I went in at 80 with a bunch of maxed Affinity Charts on Normal and if anything, the fight ended up being on the easy side. So being in the 70s with filled-but-not complete-charts will suffice. -Some long-term advice.

As for XC1's superbosses, the insane enemy evasion boosts they get for being 5+ levels above you meant you almost had to fight in the darkness. Night Vision gems, equipped to your equipment, were needed to actually land any hits above the 5% minimum chance (which disappeared if your tension dropped to low, which all those misses would inevitably cause it to). Since there were no daytime equivalents and absolutely no other gems to buff accuracy (other than Agility gems- and everyone usually likes to wear some already), you were a little rushed to win before the sun rose.

The entire higher enemy level accuracy penalty was a first-try attempt at how to stop the player from destroying things well above their level. It didn't work out so well, and turned out to be unneeded in later games. Superbosses breaking the level cap is pure vanity and nothing more now. And for XCX, you can vaporize some superbosses in a single attack. I never tried XC2's.

I finished the quest, nearly cried a little at the end and now I have Vess' Core Crystal, albeit it's still inactive.

The quest was so... real. Same way a certain Harvest Moon is, and it's touching, but I don't like it at the same time.

Vess is one of the few Rare Blades whose Affinity Chart I never finished, look at her nodes and try guessing why. But I still used her, an Electric Bitball, a whole lot. Maxing Charts in itself (as in apart from all improvements you got for filling every node) mostly boosts the Blade-switching recharge speed, so it isn't needed.

Needless to say, the main plot has been put on hold for the time being. Blade Quests are more important.

Those two are apparently developer favorites for some reason.

Don't forget to go salvaging in Mor Ardain (lower level, I forget which of the two western spots) for the Kassandra the Shield Hammer's Core Crystal! You might like her I think.

Agreed, it's a charming little quirk of the franchise now.

Yeah, once you unlock this, you won't have to worry about losing equippable items permamently.

This system has been in place since Escha & Logy, which is a very welcome addition. Though iirc, Lulua is the only game where restocking costs money (which tbf, getting money isn't that hard).

In addition to this, you also needed Spike Resist gems, since Spike is something most Superbosses had, and Monado Purge wasn't really gonna be enough.

And then Avalanche Abassy needed the Divine Protection gems to stop it from instantly killing you if you dared to touch it.

Spike Damage is another of those things that isn't really seen outside of Xenoblade 1 in the series since it's one of those "punish the player for playing the game" mechanics. And it's one of the things i'm dreading in DE because i know DE is gonna see the widespread return of Spike Damage. Ugh. I know Monado Purge is the counter and all but my issue is more of you don't know if an enemy has Spike and when does it activate.

Ah yes, the Fief of Forgetfulness.

More like they forgot how to make it accessible haha gottem. Like, i know it's a Secret Viewpoint and all but getting to it is just.....weird.

That was probably the single-most confusing way to reach an area that I have ever seen in a game.
Like "Hey, jump off this bridge when the game has conditioned you to believe that such a long drop will kill you. And fyi, it will kill you, unless your HP is high enough."

Nice! Yeah, your AI party members being competent when it comes to Blade Combos is a very big plus and had they not gotten that right, it would've broken the system imo....

...Although this is the occasional bump in the road. Sometimes you want to do a specific Blade Combo but the AI wants to do a different one.

If your partners never ever switched Blades, giving them more than their initial one would be sort of pointless, wouldn't it?
On the other hand, this means that Morag is right now more useful than Tora, because she has three different Blades vs. his two.

Speaking of Morag, I did find the third Overdrive Contract and I used two of them to give Perceval and Godfrey to her, so now they see regular use in battle and they are pretty awesome. I'll hold off on using more Core Crystals until the last member joins the party, just in case I get another Rare one that I'd rather give to them.

This works on every useable item, by the way. Even the strongest, most gamebreaking ones. Though items aren't as dominant as they were in other Atelier games, because in Lulua, nearly every party member is also a competent fighter. And the ones that aren't too strong are great supports.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind!

Come to think of it, not needing to be at max level for the final boss of the regular story is normal for most JRPGs. I can only think of a very few examples where it wasn't like that. In one of those examples, the reason is that the game has a level cap of only 11, so each level means a lot more than one where the cap is 99 or above that.

I haven't gotten her, since her Core Crystal is unusable as of yet. If it does become usable, I'll have to see whom I'll give her to. Probably the last party member that Armagon said will join at the end of chapter 5.

Armagon told me about this one before and it's a salvaging spot past a bunch of level 80+ enemies. I'll need to find a way to stealth past them first, because you can't just end combat whenever you want and go back to regular overworld controls once an enemy has spotted you.

Speaking of, while Aura Seal stops spike effects, I'm not sure the game tells you this. Second, it can be resisted, and doesn't even last that long.

FYI, Poppi's third form is obtained from an optional Blade Quest that you can't do until Ch.8 so Tora's gonna be stuck with two Blades for a while. But i wouldn't say to bench him until then, he's still pretty useful since he's a physical tank, unlike Morag who is an agility tank (not that Morag isn't useful, it's just she and Tora tank hits in different ways).

Since you've been to the Fief of Forgetfulness, there's a key there that unlocks the big door you saw in the Mor Ardain docks when you first arrives. You can use it to get closer to the salavage point in question without getting mauled by the Lv.80+ monsters (though the flying one might still spot you).

Honestly, agility-tanking is better in XC1 and 2 over plain-old eating hits, Dunban > Reyn and Morag > Tora. But both Reyn and Tora can and may wish to get some agility equips on them, a nice chance of taking no damage at all is complementary to having high HP, and vice versa.

XCX is lacking in the evasion department, at least for the postgame on-foot, where that inevitable 5% hit from something you should technically be fighting in a Skell will OHKO you. For the main story/majority of the game, maybe evasion can suffice if built right (I'd need to replay the game from the very beginning to try), with some backup durability from other arts and gear.

Speaking of which, Lulua's starting attack skill is deceptively strong, because it's simultaneously a physical and a magical attack. So if you put Lulua in the middle of the front row, she can trigger two support attacks (for example, Eva and Piana, whose support attacks trigger by using a physical or a magical attack respectively) in a single turn, essentially giving you three attacks for the price of one, a.k.a. sweet, sweet payback for all those times bosses were able to attack you twice in a single turn.

And if that wasn't cheese-y enough for you, Piana learns follow-up skills for her follow-up skill. Two of them, in fact. Eva also gets one for hers. This means that Lulua's starting attack skill can potentially trigger no less than SIX attacks in a single turn. And if you place someone who uses magic attacks in front of Eva, that's another potential three, as well as another four if you put someone using physical stuff in front of Piana.
It can look something like this:
Ficus      Lulua       Aurel
        Eva        Piana

With a set-up like that, downing enemies with 1,000+ HP in a single round even if your damage output is in the low 100s is entirely possible, I've found.
Just something to consider if you ever find yourself in a tough spot against a tough monster.

I'm not a fan of Poppi's second form, actually. The original looks more adorable.
I kinda figured that there would be a third form, because I saw a Heart-to-Heart that discussed this, which was quite heartwarming with the whole "Poppi is Poppi no matter how she looks on the outside, so she doesn't need to change her name".
Speaking of Heart-to-Hearts, I laughed my butt off when in a way earlier one back in Uraya Tora tried to teach Pyra how to be "Moepon" and Nia was like "f*** this, I'm out!" XD

I found both Morag and Tora to be equally useful for drawing aggro away from Rex and Nia so far. Morag right now has the advantage of being able to switch between three different Blades and she's new to the party, so I kinda want to have her in the active slot for a bit. Gotta try out the new blood, after all!

Thank you for remdining me!
I forgot there was a closed gate there (even though said gate threw me for a loop initially when the next story point was past it and I had to search for another way around) and I wondered what the heck that key is even for, lol.
