Ema Skye
Dat Rules (borrowed/stolen from Integrity) - Ratings are assumed to be on Hard Mode (JP Maniac). And only hard mode! - Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly. +/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. - Numerical votes out of 10, or something proportional to it. Make it easy to calculate for my sake. - Every ranking phase ends when the next RTU thread is posted (at this point, it's hard to tell). - I will insist you do not use the "Not X" reason on any character, where X is another unit. If you do, your vote will be thrown out. - "Recruits X" or "takes you to X chapter" or "Gives you Bronze Sword" arguments are explicitly banned. C'mon, people, this shouldn't need to be a rule. That's not gameplay performance. - Assume that the character in question is being recruited. - Similar to the "Recruits X" rule, do not use "she brings a Savior to the team" as an argument. - BEXP is free to be used in any quantity on any character. - Skills can be reassigned freely. - No transfers. - I withhold the privilege to tell you your rating is bogus and demand you revise it if it breaks any of the above. I will not throw out votes anonymously, you will be informed and given a chance to revise. I will not throw your vote out if I do not support your opinion. Possible reasons for a tossed vote include: your vote is higher/lower than the vast majority to "balance the score" and failure to justify a radically different score. MacLovin
9.5/10 His bases are set for the Tower, just let him get his strike rank up, and one level away from Tear! Truly one of the best Laguz in this game overall. Gauge is good, Flight+High move is good, and his offense and durability are great!. Only problem is chugging a grass everything other turn. PKL
So freaking good. Them bases, flight, close to tear and just wtfpwnage offense. He truly deserves a really high rating. He does have a bit of an availability issue, but its not too bad. 9/10 +1 bias because janaff>>>>ulki 10/

Ciarre
8/10, because damn, his bases. Add flight to the list, plus never getting hit. Even if he did, his durability is still decent. His strength is higher than Ulki, which is lol, but has less speed which doesn't matter at all since they both double everything forever. Availability is a bit of an issue though. Also trash talks Tibarn and gets away with it. And is also older than him. +1 bias so, 9/
Colonel M
Shut up Tibarn! 8.5/10.
OrangeCrush980
Godly bases. Close to signing. Flight. Buuuut, he has a gauge which limits how many enemies he can take in every EP, and he has no 2 range attacks. There's grass but needing to chug that to stay transformed instead of just killing more shit in PP is a flaw that cannot be overlooked. 5/10 (6/10 -1 bias)
Loki Laufeyson
Janaff, Tibarn's eyes. Pros: Great bases. Good growths. Great base level. Flies. Good strength. Decent gauge. Cons: Requires some Olivi Grass turns. Janaff is pretty damn awesome. He can actually give Tibarn a run for his money! Sadly, Janaff doesnt get Formshift. But with a laguz gem during Endgame, he basically is Tibarn with a bit less strength. His gauge doesnt deplete quickly, but it does deplete enough where Olivi Grass turns are needed. If you dont wanna burn Laguz Stones, Janaff needs about two turns of Grassing before going on his murder spree. (or some help from Reyson) Janaff being a hawk, means that he has great move as a flier. His base level is wonderful. If you want to give him a Satori Sign right away for Tear, he just needs one BEXP level. In fact, this is a really good idea so you can just have him have his mastery right away. Yeah, Janaff is great and one of the best non-royal laguz right out of the box. 8/10. 8.5/10 bias because i love him.
nano
Second best laguz overall behind Volug. Awesome stats and gauge, fantastic movement. Just needs one level for tear, which is even better than Naesala. Well Naesala is a cheater so eh. 8.5/10 + 0.5 bias
Chiki
Overrated. Great bases and flight, but no 2-range and needs stones or grass. 5/10 Edited June 24, 2012 by Aeine
Samias
Great bases, flies, canto, only one level away from a satori sign, and the hawk gauge is one of the easier gauges to use. As far as non-royals go, Janaff and Ulki are both just good. Janaff has better bases and is closer to a sign, though he gets the inferior skill. Janaff's transformed base speed is already failproof and his base strength is also hefty, so he really just needs weapon ranks. He's a huge help in part 4 as a competent unit to deploy wherever you need him. Considering the terrain challenges in part 4, you'll probably need him. 8.5/10 with +0.5 bias for 9/10 Edited June 24, 2012 by Samias
Shotguner159
Janaff has base attack of 40, and he is always going to double. While he has less dodge than Ulki, the 4 more attack means he ORKOs more often. He's also one level away from being able to use a Satori Sign, which just makes him Overkill, and makes it easier for him to KO Generals. HE has transformation issues, but his gauge is a lot more workable than a cats, plus 9 move and Canto means that if he does untransform, you can probably get him to safety. If you consider him untransformed, he can take a few hit's due to his high HP, and 17 Speed means only Swordmasters and 4 Warriors double him in his first map, so if you really wanted to, you could have him gain EXP faster that way. Lack of 2-Range is a problem, however. 8.5/
Sasori
I never found Janaff anything special in Por, but here the guy is my favorite Laguz. His bases are great, 32 str and 34 speed when transformed is almost godly when you get him. And to make things better he's one level away from tear and as a bonus he flies. Sure he's not as fast as Ulki, but it doesn't matter since his speed is good enough for the job 99% of the time and his strenght lead is more important. 9/10 he doesn't get a perfect score because he needs to smoke grass to transform early. Its still a little sad being the oldest hawk yet still looking like a kid.
charlie_
He needs a level of BEXP, some strike rank, and a Satori Sign. And then he stomps the game. Well, he would, but gauges suck. 8/10 Edited June 24, 2012 by Serious Bananas
Raven the Obsidian
DEM BASES. Plus flying and canto. Just a shame he requires so much Grass. And lacks 2 range. 8/10 (7+1 bias because I like his personality and design. And name.)
MacLovin
Overrated. Great bases and flight, but no 2-range and needs stones or grass. 5/10 Explain further. Flight+Good Combat helps late p3 and p4 alot.
Chiki
Explain further. Flight+Good Combat helps late p3 and p4 alot. Janaff actually cuts no turns at all in the entire game--he can easily be replaced with someone like Oscar for Reyson diamonds in 3-8 and 3-10, or Skrimir for 4-3. He also suffers from having almost no player phase action at all, and even in the enemy phase he still can't hit 2-range people. So he has both a poor player phase and enemy phase. Janaff also has major Strike issues so he has to rely on Tear and Adept to one round things later in the game. He can't kill Generals and some Halberdiers in 3-E without it. He can't kill any Generals in 3-8 and 3-10. He can't one round anything without them in Part 4. He also gets hit like a truck by Crossbows and such. Overrated. Just because you have good bases doesn't mean you're a good unit, though people like to overrate units with good stats for some inane reason. Just because you have good bases doesn't mean you're a good unit, though people like to overrate units with good stats for some inane reason. But he's still contributing, and using Oscar efficiently requires a crown. Janaff doesn't. Oscar wants forges, Janaff doesn't. Janaff also flies and is a great unit in all the p4 routes, Oscar doesn't like the Greil or Silver routes. Point is, he's contributing at the cost of a few resources. -A sign. -grass/stones -maybe bexp Oscar was around longer, bhut he too has problems. -Str lags. -Mounts have some impediments. -Fails to ORKO some enemy types. Janaff is quite good when he's here, and is pretty useful.

Soren can take over Oscar's Turn cutting prowess, in theory. Also, go do a draft, without any p3 Fliers-Janaff helps pretty well.

Explain further. So you're going to argue for Janaff based on drafting? I know drafts are fun and all, but they have no bearing at all on efficiency. One would have to be quite deluded to assume so. We don't just assume that Haar magically doesn't exist to judge Janaff's worth. Nonsense. Edited June 24, 2012 by Aeine
Ciarre
No one said that these RTUs are based on solely on efficiency. They're like a mesh of all playstyles, not just turns.
Caliban of Sycorax
except hardcore casual Aeine, do you think everyone's overrated? Anyway, Janaff. He's great in this game. He flies, he's got amazing bases, and he dominates Parts III and IV. Essentially he's Tibarn lite. I regret not using him as much. He needs Grass for a while because lolhalfshift. Can use Laguz Gems/Stones well. 8.75/
