There's a massive difference between praising and enjoying a game which happens to include a highly dubious character as <1% of its content, and praising a game because it contains said highly dubious character. I doubt anyone here actually likes or condones Nowi's existence or any of FE13's other problems, and I for one certainly can't fathom what IS was thinking here, but my ability to actually care about her in the broader context of the game is pretty limited. Talking about and criticising this is good and healthy and I'd certainly encourage it (though we've been at it for practically a year and there's not much left to be said about Nowi that hasn't been said a million times before, pending any alterations NoA may make), but it's not impossible to like a fictional work while criticising problematic aspects of it. Actually, Jim Sterling did a great video discussing precisely this sort of thing - game fandoms and how they handle talking about dubious content in their games of choice - just this week. It's an excellent watch, and he does a far better job of saying what I'm trying to say than I ever could.

Now, if FE13 actually entirely consisted of "Bondage Loli Rape Simulator 2012" with barely anything else to it, you'd be right on the money, but last I checked that's not the case. This isn't Bondage Loli Rape Simulator. This is Fire Emblem, and the thing with Fire Emblem is it's all about choice. I can simply not recruit Nowi, not use her in battle, not pair her up, or just stick her with Ricken or Donnel. I don't have to have her around being a shitty character if I don't want her around.

If you genuinely think that Nono is one of the most disgusting characters to appear in a mainstream video game, I have no idea what to tell you. She's no different from literally dozens of similiar characters throughout the Japanese mainstream. I mean, she's actually better than a fair number. She only looks quite young, when she's actually far older than most of the cast.

I don't think so. Heck, No More Heroes featured a group of sexualized little anime girls who look EXACTLY like Nono, and they were intended to be an exaggeration for the sake of parody.

I doubt, that you find plenty of characters like her in stuff that isn't outright pornographic because that is stuff that only the otaku subculture appreciates. It has no place in mainstream.

As I recall, nn is a good deal younger than the rest of the G2 cast, strongly implying that Nowi didn't get pregnant until well after the events of G1.

while she does have a daughter from the future, she still doesn't actually get impregnated during the course of the game, meaning that whatever sex happens later, once the game is over, maybe even 10-20 years into the future when she's slightly more mature.

Honestly I see where BrightBow is coming from. I'm not particularly a fan for the female characters in this game. They're all too sexualized (aside from a minor handful of characters) for my tastes. Nowi and Panne (or whatever her name is) need real clothes. Say'ri needs clothes that WON'T show off her underwear in battle. I can point out all the other things I dislike about this game.

However, complaining about them isn't going to change anything. It's not like I'm absolutely FORCED into using any of them, either. Sure they're in the game, and on my screen, but that doesn't mean I have to use them. And honestly, people, ONE GUY (or even a multitude of people) boycotting a game isn't going to make Nintendo or IS go "oh, maybe we shouldn't have marriageable young loli characters." It's going to make them go "Oh, well this content isn't suitable for America. Let's keep it to being Japan only."

And none of us wants that, right? ^^
