Junkhead
It's always been a sort of "thing" I've had, seeing units in a way that they belong to a "certain" role, stat-wise, based on their class. Like, SMs are obviously based on Spd (and not tanky), Generals on Def and not Spd, you know the deal. And when you see someone like Nergal and Lyon and their 25+ Def and 30 Res AND Def caps...yeah. I mean, it's understandable that they're the final bosses but don't you feel the same way? It's kind of scary. I won't even begin talking about BK and his ridonculous Spd and Validar. Thor Odinson
I'm pretty sure when a mage puts on a nice set of armor they can still make things explode (also FE4 Barons says hi) Physical parameters doesn't affect magic power, that means if they want to be jacked as fuck they can still be magical too Final bosses are special classes anyway also i don't even know what Validar's stats are like because honestly he wasn't even hard enough for me to check
dondon151
i'm usually only annoyed by them because they're hard to damage in 0% growths runs
Florete
Big magic-based bosses usually at least have more Res than Def, so I feel it works out in the sense that if their defense was too low, it would make them too easy. You could also say their magical prowess allows them to reduce the impact of incoming hits...in some way. I dunno. I've never met a real mage, so I didn't know any of this.

Shin
Some of my best friends are buff mages. Bosses don't really bother me, it'd be kinda lackluster if Lyon had like 7 defense.
Baldrick
I don't see why they're any worse than tanky melee-based bosses. Unless you're a classist.

Shadow Mir
Ehhh, not really, largely because I don't know many of them that aren't final bosses. Edited December 20, 2014 by Levant Caprice

X-Naut
I cringe more at the huge Res inflation present in GBA thrones and all of FE7's bosses than at high Defense mages.
NICKTâ„¢
Trying to explain it beyond just the fact they needed to make the last boss 'difficult' is pointless. It's a sort of gameplay/story segregation, if you will. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GameplayAndStorySegregation
Topaz Light
I always assumed, with final bosses, that they were able to use their magic to shield themselves in some way? Or just that their sheer amount of magical power made them more durable somehow. I never really gave it much thought, to be honest.

I mean, Loptous weapons, and Medeus, and Grima (right?), have the whole half damage or half might thing or whatever it is. The enchantment Nergal places on Vaida, or her spear (technically speaking it's the spear but for all I know the story says vaida rather than the weapon) also gives a good defense bonus and a monstrous res bonus. General Horace
lyon's intimidating when he oneshots dozla he's honestly probably the toughest gba non fe6 boss just because he hits so ridiculously hard regardless of his speed. Nergal hits less hard in a game twice as long (hence you'll have units with higher stats) and is trivialized by a luna tome and Athos so he's nowhere near as bad. General Horace
Still, being a hard hitter alone does not an intimidating foe make. while this is true, how many other bosses actually hit hard in FE7/8? Or are difficult at all in general? There's like, Vigarde? He's the only guy that actually comes to mind for me. General Horace
Foggy Lloyd is kinda hard even though he's ORKO'd by a Rath with 11 strength His defence is still really lame though, anyone with 16 strength and access to a Silver Lance can 2HKO him at reasonable hitrates. I guess there's always a chance for crits though. Regardless it's one boss out of ~60? Edited December 22, 2014 by General Horace
eclipse
My beef is that foggy Lloyd can double a lot of things (with crit!), while being somewhat of a pain to hit (RNG rigging aside). Oh, right, forgot about Ursula, too. ;/

BBM
Vigarde isn't even that bad; in a void he's just a general on a throne. A decently trained Ephraim with a healer backup has no problems with him. IIRC he can 2RKO him at ~level 13? It's the culmination of the chapter as a whole that makes it difficult if you're playing efficiently, because of the Sleep staves and the Berserk staves and having to recruit Rennac and then you're taking him on with Seth or something and his 21 defence + throne gets ridiculous. FFO Lloyd is honestly more difficult IMO since he rushes at you but it's kind of the opposite situation as Vigarde. Since the map is so short (especially if you're not recruiting Wallace) it's not that hard to just reset until the RNs work out.
