What do you want to see in Zelda U/NX?

Aside from the actual title of the game, of course. Everyone wants to see that tongue.png

I have a few things I want to see included:

  1. Different tunics do different things: Like OoT and TP, changing your tunic will let you do or survive different things. Goron lets you withstand heat, Zora, lets you swim easier, etc. But I want to see what they can do with a few more. Perhaps a White tunic that lets you withstand cold temperatures (the reverse of the Goron Tunic), a Magic Armor that actually works well (Rupees deplenish as you take damage, not constantly), and maybe a few others.
  2. Return of the Magic Meter: I think the last time we saw the magic meter was... wow, Wind Waker (if you don't include the remakes)? 13 years ago? I'm not talking the Item Meter from A Link Between Worlds, I mean like the actual Magic Meter that gets depleted with magic items, not all items.
  3. Playable Zelda: I don't think we've seen Zelda in the new game, yet. Know why? They're waiting to reveal she's playable! ...maybe. Perhaps it could work something like Spirit Tracks (I hope not) or she's there to help out in multiplayer. Or it could swap between Link's and Zelda's PoV, kinda like Sonic Adventure 2.
  4. New environments: With technology seemingly playing a big role in this game, I want to see Link travel to new areas never seen in Zelda before. Something fantasy like a coliseum or sci-fi like outer space! Link in space, can you imagine?! Zelda may be fantasy-oriented, but it has stepped out of it's "bubble" a few times. (People may complain about "Super Link Galaxy," though...)
  5. A complete overhaul of the original game: I know this has been only theorized so far, but it'd be cool to see and a great way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series! ...or 31st, I guess.
  6. A fourth time-line! Just to screw with people! biggrin.png
  7. Crossovers: Several franchises like Mario's have had Link come in to their universe, even Sonic's! But not many have come over to Zelda's. I don't care if they're a background character or someone who gives Link a quest to complete. I just want to see Marth or Samus hang around in Hyrule.

I have a few more, but those are the big ones. What do you guys want to see?

More about the goddesses. We've only ever gotten vague descriptions of them despite the fact they're mentioned everywhere, I want to know what they're like.

I'm probably the only person ever who wants that.

Wind Waker type Boomerang- stunning enemies with it was incredibly useful and I did not appreciate the full blown removal of the boomerang in SS. Bring on the Australian weapons!

The things I would want to see in the new Zelda would be a reference to a past game. Zelda had a reference to OoT and Link between worlds had LtTP. It would just seem nice to have it tie in somewhere.

I second that request for the goddesses.

Playable Zelda sounds great, but it would worry me for the story. If it were just a short part like in Resident Evil 4 you controlled Ashley for just a short period of time. Maybe something along the lines of an unconscious link is protected by Zelda (you) and he wakes up and sees her kidnapped.

As for the Tunics I'd love for them to be customizable. Like an Amiibo would create a mini-dungeon that based of the franchise in question (Fire Emblem, Metroid, Kid Icarus). Link being dressed as Marth would be pretty cool imo.

The one thing I want above all is a quick start. I love Twilight Princess, but I just hated the slow start.

Hearing more about Goddesses would be neat, but I'm not sure what else they could add. Perhaps if they made them interactable like in Oracles or Minish Cap, we might get somewhere.

I'd also like the music to be, well... better. Skyward Sword's was great, but most wasn't all that catchy, and the games after it just redid already existing ones. TFH is the same.

"Marth, the Hero of Time." Sounds good to me XD

I'd love to have a game start up as quickly as the original, too. Just jump right in.

I want to see a Zelda game that's not suck.

I want big, creative dungeons.

I want the difficulty to be... well, difficult. Have a Hero Mode that actually makes the game hard instead of multiplying damage that's never inflicted.

I actually like TP's slow start. Makes the world more likable to me. I really liked Collin and the other Ordon citizens and could tell how greatly Link cared for them. At the very least, I'd like something like The Wind Waker where the action is soon but we still get a bit of world and character establishment.

Wind Waker was like the ideal start for me. I loved the characters in TP and wouldn't mind getting to know the characters early on.

I'm curious as to what you would consider a good hero mode. Multiple enemies and multiplying damage all at once? Time limits?

Honestly really want a world filled with things to do. Would be cool to see quite a few places to explore, especially caves with treasure and items. Also want to see a ton of sidequests, making the world feel like a living and breathing one.

A massive overworld with shit to do in it (like Xenoblade).

No damn escort missions.

Goriya enemies.

Gleeok.

Lynels.

Gerudo.

Some more insight on the history of the Sheikah. Hell, have the game take place when the Sheikah were prosperous covert asskickers for the Hylian Royal family.

Magic meter returning.

Medallion spells (like ALttP) returning.

Numerous really fun dungeons.

Lack of handholding. Please stop railroading me, Nintendo.

The full return of Pig Ganon.

In other words, make it cool and huge, and Okami-like with pretty visuals and expansive world building. But also keep it kinda old school in spirit.

I can't think of anything in particular other than the option to use motion controls. I enjoyed the motion control gameplay in SS and really want to experience it again. It wasn't for everybody, but that's why I say the option to, as in have it be optional. Though every time I've brought this up, people tell me this won't happen because of the Gamepad and blah blah blah, but I don't believe them. There are still Wii U games that can use the Wii remote and we don't know what the controller for the NX will be like at all yet.

What's the big deal about the magic meter? Why do people like it so much? I don't care if we have it or not, but I didn't think it was amazing or anything. I kind of hated running out of magic all the time, though.

Oh, and I'd rather Ganon and Ganondorf stay retired. I'm tired of them and I never liked them to begin with.

An ideal "Hard/Hero mode" for me would be like OoT Master Quest on GCN. Dungeons redesigned to be harder, and such.

This. So much this.

The amount of sidequests in Zelda haven't been lacking, that's for sure. But yeah, quests make it seem like every person needs help rather than just the world as a whole. Gives a nice break.

I think the motion controls in SS worked very well (the pointer controls got a bit messed up, though). I'd love to see them return.

The Magic Meter adds another level of strategy, but perhaps an option to replace or remove it for those that don't want it.

Eh, I could care either way about Ganon. He's as iconic as Link and Zelda is, so I don't think he'll be leaving anytime soon. However, they pretty much killed him off in the Adult Timeline. [spoiler=Wind Waker spoiler]Left him at the bottom of the ocean, so I don't think he'll be returning in this timeline. Unless his remaining followers are extremely dedicated.

Ganon/Ganondorf has technically already left for now though. He hasn't been seen in a primary role in a brand new game since TP. He was absent in ST, SS, and TFH and took a backseat to Yuga in ALBW. Hyrule Warriors doesn't count because it's a spin-off. So at this point, he'd be returning if he's the main villain again.

I'm curious as to what you would consider a good hero mode. Multiple enemies and multiplying damage all at once? Time limits?

Well, some ideas off the top of my head -

1. Make enemies and bosses more dangerous. This would include improved, faster, or all-new attacks and abilities. For example, the bulblin archers in Twilight Princess could have a much higher running speed, and fire three arrows in succession instead of one when not moving.

2. More enemies, and more unique combinations of enemies.

3. Place enemies in tricky locations where they're more threatening (Ex: Archers on hard-to-reach ledges.)

4. Make the puzzles harder and remix the dungeons like in Master Quest.

5. Make the terrain more dangerous, such as adding conveyor belts or spikes or something to otherwise neutral ground.

6. And add double damage, of course. Just for good measure.

That's how you make a good Hard mode. I hope Nintendo does at least three of these things, but I'm afraid they'll settle for just the last as usual.

This sounds more like "Maniac Mode" than "Hard Mode." However, I would like to see most of these happen. Maybe not 1, though, in terms of minor enemies. They can add to the bosses all they want, mix things up a bit, but I think it'd be better to just increase the generics' numbers rather than skills. 5 sounds like overkill in levels like the Water Temples.

Id like to see Second Quest be a thing again. The closest thing that came to it, is Master Quest in OoT. But the dungeons were still in the same places and items were in the same places and stuff. Nah i want to see full on Second Quest like OG Zelda again. Dungeons all in different spots, with loads of op enemies ("A Patra? Thats not supposed to happen in Level 1!"), items be in different areas ("Wait, the fishing rod is where now?"), and throwing weird ass shit at you. ("omg that Bubble fuggin' ate my sword!")

Thats the kind of hero mode id like.

Worldbuilding, to be honest. I mean, what was the last Zelda game with good worldbuilding, TP? I'd also like some more steampunk elements.

You can maybe make an argument for Skyward Sword being the "prequel" and all I guess.

1. I want to see a true open world like the OG LoZ where you can literally go anywhere at anytime even if the enemies kick your ass

2. Level up RPG like elements like leveling up Link's strength, endurance, things of that nature

3. Custom Items like clothing and the such I think it'd be a good addition.

I want to play it without an NX or WiiU...x(

I don't really have anything to add, Zelda always add their pro and con, but are always good games.
Hm, however, I don't want it to be linear, to be able to do x dungeon in any orders, like in A Link Between World, it's one of the things that probably make it my favorite.Zelda

Plot wise... I kind of agree with blah, the last good worldbuilding was in TP, seriously, all those theories.

I did not like Skyward Sword's plot very much... which is kind of a rarity as I generaly enjoy Zelda's plot.

No matter what, I don't think we'll be disapointed. It's Zelda after. I'm more wait and see.

... and never play it because I'll never have a WiiU/NX. U_U

Just for that, I hope the NX will make a plop fail, and that you all catch the worst illness of all time;.. a cold.

"Marth, the Hero of Time." Sounds good to me XD

Now I want a Marth more. Armed with his Falchion, and no shield.

Sounds awesome !

Personally I don't feel like most Zeldas are particularly gamelike. I think there's a better way of phrasing it, but I've increasingly found the titles (including older ones when I revisit them) to all but advertise a feature, but then not include it in a meaningful way. Like the combat in Wind Waker, when most of the enemies in the game allow you to be in the same room as them for a huge amount of time and require you to damage them or to walk within touch distance to react... or certain puzzles in Ocarina that boil down to identifying which of the items you are already carrying fits the scenario. (MM and TP do more and creatively invert the functions every now and then).

What I really want is the next Zelda game to be Maximo 3. I feel that combat should be more active, and honestly I think character action games are probably the best inspiration, although the 2d games aren't as flawed as the 3d ones in this regard. Puzzles should at least be at the level of A Link Between Worlds, and I'd like a wide initial move set so that the game will rely more on understanding Link (and the puzzles/game design) than improving Link over the quest.

And how would you make this leveling system do anything other than grinding?

I'm afraid Zelda will never be playable. The title paradox is one of the core pillars of the Zelda franchise. Like a law of the universe, it is unbreakable, and resistance is futile.

...and no, possessed phantoms in Spirit Tracks don't count, especially since you're still half-playing as Link.
