Just on the off chance that they actually showed up to the reunion. They'd rather just continue searching all over without leads? After five years of... exactly that? Maybe someone like Seteth would be too busy, but I could totally see the likes of Hanneman and Manuela giving it a shot. You could argue that the students didn't tell any of the faculty about the promise. All right, sure. But then, what about the other students who joined from other houses? Why were they left out like that, just because they joined later? That's kind of a dickmove by Byleth and their house. It's only really Hanneman and Manuela (Maybe Shamir, but she did seem to take the duty she'd ended up with seriously enough) I could see that with, considering they're looking all over for Rhea as well. Then again, Rhea's their pay check/owner of the place that let them escape the shit they left behind. Which was taken from them by the same Empire they left on better terms. I don't disagree about the other students you recruit, I do think they should have arrived. Did you miss the point where I said that? 9 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Up to TearRing, no. Ah, but for all of the memes, Hubert really isn't the worst offender. Tell me, as somebody who likes the game: can you explain to me why the Death Knight needed to live through a whopping EIGHT deaths? Seriously, I just counted them. It depends on the route, of course, but if you go Golden Deer, do Mercedes and Caspar's paralogue and count Cindered Shadows, he can die 8 fucking times. Even in CF (again counting CS) he dies 4 times, enough to match Hubert. The worst part is that at least Hubert does something in the story, there's at least a reason for his survival. The Death Knight? He does nothing but die, speak menacingly to show how much of a psycho he is, and die! He's completely useless! Are you telling me they kept this buffoon alive solely for the dark seal gimmick? He should've been called the Cat Knight, Jesus! Four is pretty terrible yes. Let it never be said that DK's recurring survival isn't stupid. (I mean, I didn't get that paralogue and never got the DLC (SPOILERS GOSH), but still) It's so many times that the decent FE wiki (well not for you because they haven't made extensive Kaga Saga pages) had to make a separate page for his appearances as an NPC/enemy. I'd have either him killed at the end of part 1 (and remove his appearance in Chapter 4 or 😎 or drop him from 4, 8 and SS17/VW18 (I didn't like that part of the chapter anyway). 9 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Mark, what happened between you and those other boys? I'm not gonna do it this time, though. Just feel like going there in person this time, since it's just a couple people. I'll be sure to use this feature when we have a lot more mercs, though. This helpful setting is disabled by default, making you go digging in the settings menu to find it. Other such settings include attack range, text that moves faster than the speed of molasses, and removing the ugly-as-sin grid. By the way, note that their prices are main mission prices, and thus double what we paid them last time. That's a more appropriate price for Sylvis's services, I've got to say. Hawkwing
Late, but I wish this wasn't an April Fools day joke. The animations and art of Blustone are so great that I really would pay for a fully animated show. Also, I had a weird dream last knight where Serenes Forest styled the background as a pizza parlor for April Fools, and each section of the site took you to a different part of the "restaurant" to "order" your stuff. It would take a lot of work, but that is an interesting idea for a website joke. I also had a dream that predicted a new Heroes channel would appear and it would feature meme units. It was mostly right, even if it didn't predict pantless Marth. Also also, I was finally laid off yesterday. Production has reduced to the point they were forced to do so due to the virus. A bummer, but I was prepared for this to happen any day now. On the bright side, I actually have some more free time again. Should probably get around to writing that book everyone is suggesting I do. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, Garon and Volcens are suspiciously similar in a lot of regards... only one's badly written, and the other's bad. Of course, I've not seen Garon to properly judge him, but I just wanted to call Volcens names, okay? It's just a fun thing to do. So Volcen was replaced by a slime monster, scares almost everyone who works with him, is evil enough that his neighbors are not at allsurprised when he declares a war and uses underhanded tactics, and his family members reminisce on how loving he once was? I don't think it's as bad in practice, but Fates story would have been a lot more interesting if Garon was actually alive when the game started instead of being replaced by an insane dragon trying to appear sane. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Kaga is always first. He subverts tropes before they come into existence. Considering Gaiden had the most despicable character's be part of the "good guy kingdom" and their death kicks off the plot, an emperor who wished to unite the continent through a total war and didn't care who won, a cult that wasn't always evil, a main character that spends a good chunk of the game not knowing they're royalty and another that has to hide it for half of it, and a final boss that isn't evil so much as crazy, I would say that Kaga does indeed subvert the tropes he does first. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Actually, I'm afraid that is not quite the case. All spears, all swords, etc. look the same when wielded by the same unit. That class just has a pitchfork sprite because it is only ever seen wielding pitchforks. This is actually the only Kaga game (outside of the NES ones, of course) where there are no different sprites for each weapon. Disappointing, I know, but I doubt they would've been able to make such gorgeous animations if they had to account for different weapon sprites. I'm not surprised, though. I know that having sprites for each weapon would already take a lot of time and work, and considering how many unique classes there are in this game, it eventually passed the point of practicality. The awesome animations do significantly lesson the blow. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Is there any other way to look at that? "I married the 1000-year-old little girl that lives in my head" sounds like the start of a friggin' joke. I wonder what the punchline is. Maybe that's the punchline, actually. Seriously, though, this game is surprisingly addictive. Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger Daemon X Machina Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword Metal Gear Solid 3D although for this one I just need to beat the final boss to complete my first run on hard. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: That seems to be the case for a lot of Three Houses, doesn't it? Yeah, I will compliment Three Houses for addressing several of the writing criticisms of Awakening and Fates. They gave quite a lot more attention to the worldbuilding, while characters are still kinda tropey it's not at the forefront like it could often be in Awakening and Fates, those same characters actually pipe in during the story more often, and while never everything hit its mark, the set up at the beginning of Part 1 was especially well done. It's not perfect, of course. I'll have to fully complete a route before I can give a fair assessment, but most of the writing problems I got the impression were more due to running out of time than bad planning. The presentation doesn't it do it any favors, either. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Interesting. I forgot to bring up the music. Maybe Raze's just hoping he goes mad and orders the execution of everyone competent in the League? That would most certainly be more cost effective than sending a ninja in a rowboat and hoping they don't suffer from Berwicks low hit rates. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Evil-looking collar that I'm also wearing myself, I might add. Don't blame you, it's a good looking collar. BWS fog has two perks of interest: first, oftentimes it won't cover the whole map, with different areas being perfectly lit, as you can see here. Second, and this is the important part. Tell me, how many times have you thought "man, I wish this fog of war BS would affect the enemy! Damn cheaters!"? Well, guess what. Kaga did it first. Indeed, FoW affects the enemy in this game. Same conditions as us; if an enemy comes within an ally's range, they're discovered and can be attacked by anybody. Bumping into unseen enemies leads to an inevitable fight where the enemy gets the first attack. To be entirely forthcoming with you, since we're often the ones coming at the enemy, not the other way around, this... ends up not mattering all that much. Still, it's a good effort, and we'll be able to set up some mighty delicious ambushes occasionally. Nice to hear that Berwick Saga makes enemies play by the same rules as the player. Although it doesn't address my primary issue with fog of war in Fire Emblem, that being you don't know about the enemies stats, so you often have to hope that a unit is strong enough to survive against an unknown opponent. Coincidentally enough, I actually played chapter 18 of Blazing Sword earlier today, and man, was that not fun. Even with a guide, I just had to place my units somewhere and hope the enemies were in their supposed spots. I actually lost Dart due to RNG shenanigans, almost lost Matthew for the same reason, and Fiora would have died before I could even recruit her if bow damage was multiplied by 3 instead of 2. I am enjoying the game, but I wish that the two deaths I encountered so far weren't due partially to bullcrap (I lost Sain in 16X when one of the Paladin reinforcements decided to move on the same turn he spawned, and guess who I was planning on healing the next turn?). I say "partially" because it was my fault for jumping into the fray like I did and ending up in the both situations in the first place, but it is still annoying that what actually killed my units was outside of my control. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Our introductory dialogue of the day stars this guy yet again, and... Ah, so it seems I was wrong about soldiers poisoning the water for a tactical advantage. Instead, we have Evil Cult #Won't bother counting again. Also, what's up with Disaad's chin? It looks like he has a second mouth there, or his chin was cut off at some point and he duck-taped what was left back on. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: The rogue wanders into the darkness. Perhaps we may find him later. Does he ever actually reappear, out of question? I don't remember seeing him again when I first read through the update. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Yes! Ruby's right! Except for the part where she trips over a rock and breaks her neck because she intends to go running into the darkness like a headless chicken! Ah, so she has durability issues. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: - Hurry does exactly that. Useful if we need to get somewhere pronto. Hurry sounds like a pretty good skill to give to a knight. It allows them to make up for their lower movement while having a reasonable drawback. Wary Fighter might be one of the best skills for a knight overall (as it largely nullifies the problem of their low speed) but I am genuinely surprised IS never stole this. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I can't tell whether I should compliment Arthur for using his shield to protect his hands instead of throwing it behind him like most videogame and movie characters do, or criticizing him for leaving the rest of his body exposed. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: It's finally Ruby's move. She whiffs the first strike, but not the second. Also, I'm starting to realize that her spear kinda looks like a huge pencil. Now that you mention it, yeah, her spear kind does look like a giant pencil. Maybe she hopes to kill her enemies with lead poisoning? On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I tried to catch a frame of the spear still in Adel's hand. Instead, I caught a frame where he doesn't have a hand. Of course. Does Berwick Saga have TRS's quirk were some thrown weapons hit despite being above the enemies head? On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: A man appears from the darkness, slowly limping towards us. This is the guy who got wrecked by Disaad's generic. One thing I didn't mention about crippling: when a unit is crippled, there's a chance that they won't be able to walk as far as commanded. More often than not, cripples will stop halfway to rest. Makes it all the more difficult to escape from capture. Ah, nevermind. There he is. I suppose that cripples not being able to move all the way sometimes is an alright mechanic. Prevents some frustration while capturing while not being something to rely on. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Why is everyone going after Adel? They watch their peers throw themselves into his spear, and gleefuly follow suit! What's the big idea? Guess they thought they were going to die anyway, so why not fall at the hands of the guy with the cool skill effect? On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Disappointed! I don't know why, but the sprites in both these screenshots look likes she's walking there grumpily and halfheartedly stabbing the guy. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Not good enough. While these look like a backhanded slap, but with a spear. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Exceptionally, as it turns out. I probably should've given her some worse arrows, but what can I say. Even I, certified bad unit user, enjoy dabbling in some wasteful overkill from time to time. And Sylvis is one of my favourite characters and units. Cool animation too. It seems like she's the fun kind of powerful. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: That's... ominous. Too ominous. BERSERK IS IN THIS GAME?!?! Of course it is. Why wouldn't Kaga add it? On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I like how he keeps getting shield points by failing to shield. There's something truly pathetic about that. He's learning through experience. That accounts for something, right? On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Hey, I thought I was throwing a handaxe, not a bolas! ...by the way, yes, that's the name of a weapon. Bolas is basically a rope or chain with balls on the ends, that you throw at animals (usually) to entangle their legs. It also happens to be spanish for "balls". Because english is a creative language. I remember bolas being an item in Tak 2: Staff of Dreams, as a tool mostly used for crossing over pits and the like during platforming. I think it could also be used for ranged combat, but it's been a while since I've played the game. It was pretty fun, too. Had the classic Nickelodeon humor and some solid platforming, even if I never finished it due to how odd the structure of the second half of the game was (it was still linear, but it was kinda difficult to tell if/how you were making progress). On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: This is me trying to get his experience gains. That actually looks rather cool! Pretty cinematic. Repeat what I said about Berwick having damn good background artists. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: This is the darkmend guy. His class is war monk, which wields maces (another mostly enemy-exclusive weapon type) and dark orbs. Obviously he's using the former to whack Adel. So Kaga did it first again. War monks are a class in Awakening that healers and troubadours can promote into. They wield axes (the closest Fire Emblem can get to maces, I suppose) and staves. They're pretty much there to give your healers more durability if you want that over giving them the ability to use magic. The female version of the design is pretty infamous for how ridiculous it looks, although it can wrap around to being hilarious. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I keep misreading "Razenclaw" as "Ravenclaw"and thinking this guy is a Harry Potter fan for some reason. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: A shame about that accuracy of his. It kinda looks like the Razite is dancing and Elbert is disappointed or confused that his attempt to attack the feet didn't work. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Scylla is the orb he's taking to Disaad. He'll never use it himself, thankfully. It's an interesting weapon, as it adds the enemy's level to the might. In other words, if one attacks a level 4 unit, the orb's might will be 7. As you can imagine, this'll be one hell of a scary weapon in the lategame. It's also one of the very few things that could potentially murder the endgame-ready beard right now. If I could deploy him here, of course. Huh. I've actually had an idea for two weapons where one had might=level and the other was 21-level=might. One became less powerful as a unit grew stronger, while the other's damage only increased. Lore-wise, they would be magic weapons who's power corresponds and reacts to the wielder. It's not 1-to-1, but it seems Kaga had a similar idea of factoring a units level into a weapons might. On 3/30/2020 at 4:59 PM, Saint Rubenio said: ...let me go on record right now and say, this is going to be a difficult ironman. There are so few units that I don't care for in this game... every death will sting like a poorly-handled razor upon a man's chin. Not that I've handled any razors in the past two years. My profile portrait is quite accurate, all things considered. Even if in reality I look more like a bum than a prince. How ironmannable would you say this game is, by the way? I know it's better than Three Houses, but how does it compare to the rest of the series? Meanwhile, I'm still trying to grow a full beard. I can get a goatee just fine, but the hairs on the side don't seem to like the idea of coming out at the same time. Maybe they saw The Lord of The Rings and though the Mount Doom scene looked like cool place to hold a meeting. If you want to see our full list of bounty targets, feel free to ask me any time. You can also come to me when you capture or kill one of the targets, and I'll get you your reward. In addition, if you manage to bring in the target alive, the guild will match the original reward as a bonus. What he means by this is that the reward will be doubled if the bounty's captured instead of killed. Which, in turn, means that the guild keeps a whopping half of the bounty. Those are some rates! Valery...! Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction had a similar system, and it worked rather well there. Though that was an action game where you had stun grenades and could follow a melee attack up with a capture. Not to say it was always easy; you had to call a helicopter in and you often ended up in a firefight trying to catch the person, and some of them were so well fortified you were occasionally better off just calling in an airstrike and finishing the job that way, but they never relied on an RNG. 12 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: And once again the unchanged text still fits the conversation. 12 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I am expecting a few memes to be made out of this format at some point. 12 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Reese buys a longsword as well. Speaking of, I am really quite disappointed in the lack of memes I'm thinking of right now. Oh... well shit. I've had the dumbest attempt at a work-around since fe6. But, I think I'll keep to it this way. 10 hours ago, Dayni said: That or Valentin threatened to kill Valery if he did put them up. Or people saw how corrupt things were getting and opted out, which will be made easier once they see things are happening. I came up with a really stupid explanation. See, Valery has a gambling problem. He keeps taking the bounties and using them for gambling. Then to get more money, he hocks off the reward posters to Halfmann, who is so inept he thinks the amount written on them is in fact what the poster is worth, instead of what the price on the target's head is. He then proceeds to gamble with the money from hocking the poster until he can cover the bounty again, and then he prints up another poster uses the money to cover the bounty while leaving Halfmann holding a worthless (and soon to be out-dated poster). Halfmann never notices, and Valery's gambling problem is completely out of control. Consequently, early in the game Valery has absolutely no posters up because they''re all hocked off prior to your visit after a terrible losing streak. But Sylvis is wise to his bullshit, because you have to be when you're in this business, so she'll simply intimidate him into telling her of bounties he no longer has the money for (she can one-shot him way too easily). Furthermore, when the 18 posters go up, it's after Valery finally has a winning streak and recoups his past losses. None of this justifies Valery in the slightest. It's still corruption, it's just inept corruption. Very inept corruption enabled by the world's worst loan shark. But it's funnier than the logical explanation. 9 hours ago, Hawkwing said: So Volcen was replaced by a slime monster, scares almost everyone who works with him, is evil enough that his neighbors are not at allsurprised when he declares a war and uses underhanded tactics, and his family members reminisce on how loving he once was? I still think Organization of the Severely Sick would be more threatening. You could sic 'em on your enemies. Ha! It looked better when it turned out my brother had stomach parasites at the time a couple days later. He got downed by a series of gut punches. Missed half a year boxing while they were getting treated, came back. Everyone expected him to be out of shape. His first match back was supposed to account for that. Poor guy ended up being one punched, because go figure, he still hits with the strength of a silverback. Jeez... Well, yes and no. See the property is big enough I can get to a point I can't see my own house. Mind that's partially because of foliage, hills, and so forth. But point is there's enough land that most of the incidents have been at home. The crow being the exception because it was at a park, which means I have no idea how long it was there unlike the others, where I can approximately guess. Whoa, and I thought I lived in a big place. I was going for "Salve-this", which is still not really right at all. That's... kinda completely off. Whoa. I imagine Merlinus would be the only one to come out on top because he'd expect a trap, refuse to get involved, and avoid being involved in the suicidal traps, while Pretzel would inexplicably make things worse. The worst part is that it's true. And even if he got involved, Merlinus is inmortal. Damn... there's no way to win with that asshole, is there... How many characters grow move? Besides, I tend to prefer to be an oddball in choices. Though, there's a pattern to some of it. In Thracia? Pretty sure everyone. If you mean in my current run, well, so far it's only been Leif, Asbel and Dagdar. Excellent units to gain move, mind, but also quite boring. C'mon, give my man Hicks some more move! It's all he needs, he's even hit C swords, so he's, hilariously enough, my best iron blade user. Yeah, I learned a lesson at a young age about plastic and excessive heat. Jikes... That'd be the worst case scenario. Him being competent through being thoroughly incompetent. And he even lived and got sent back to the Empire! His plan was a thorough success. I knew when we were horsing around was when I'd manage a new pun on that. Pfffft... That sounds more fun than I imagine actually being a corrupt politician is. It's a pretty damn fun game. It's kinda like Pacman, only with more complex map design, and you can jump over things or punch them so hard they fly out of the screen. Why is milk so unwholesome in this series? Can someone find out if Kaga's lactose intolerant. Kaga hates humanity, is the reason. Yeah. How dysfunctional is this society? Not sure about the society, but we're attracting quite the band of misfits. I suppose they realized he's wearing the bag he was given to keep his inventory in, which is why he didn't have room for the orb. Bags are too much of a commodity to go to waste. That makes too much sense. I think that the reprobates behind this need to be on their guard. After all, selling horses is a cutthroat business model. I hope they're ready for about Van Million years in prison if they get caught alive, because they're about to be on the Reeseving end of a Lot of pain, and they can't hope to Ward it off. I'm in pain and agony. Volcen never fails to disappoint. Seriously, I bet if Reese started expecting man-child-esque hissy fits from him, he'd start being polite and responsible just to ruin Reese's plans. I think he'd rather die of a stroke. It'd be too much of an existential crisis... to be a manchild, or to go against Reese... Considering, that in the event of an emergency with COVID-19, I'm literally on the "let die due to pre-existing medical conditions if they need a ventilator" list, yeah. Funny that. Sheesh... man, be extremely careful. I don't know, but it sure does make you question if the other side can still be as bad. Well, the other side has... its own problems. Yep. Every benefit of the doubt given is gone. This man is crooked as Quasimodo's spine. Valery: second only to Volcens. He's probably deliberately keeping them hidden in hope that townspeople put two hits on the same person so he can pocket the second lot entirely. Let me rephrase that. Kaga has a drinking problem. Much less likely to be taken as a reference to alcoholism by mistake. Then again, Rhea's their pay check/owner of the place that let them escape the shit they left behind. Which was taken from them by the same Empire they left on better terms. Right, they're also searching for Rhea. Guess I can accept that, but it doesn't make RaD any less than the worst map in all of FE and KagaSaga for me. I don't disagree about the other students you recruit, I do think they should have arrived. Did you miss the point where I said that? Right, sorry. We'll get to see. Unless I lose everyone, yes! Good news it doesn't. I'd remember if it was. To be fair, FE12!glower was just a renamed luna. Four is pretty terrible yes. Let it never be said that DK's recurring survival isn't stupid. (I mean, I didn't get that paralogue and never got the DLC (SPOILERS GOSH), but still) It's so many times that the decent FE wiki (well not for you because they haven't made extensive Kaga Saga pages) On the matter of the wikis... to be honest, I don't like either of them. The "good" one may be better than the FANDOM one, but it has its own array of problems, I've noticed, and of course, it lacks anything on KagaSaga. Frankly, I only use them for art and other such things. When I'm looking for information, Serenes is the way to go, with FEWOD as a good alternative. had to make a separate page for his appearances as an NPC/enemy. I'd have either him killed at the end of part 1 (and remove his appearance in Chapter 4 or 😎 or drop him from 4, 8 and SS17/VW18 (I didn't like that part of the chapter anyway). Yeah, he barely did anything in part 1, but at least it was more than the... absolute nothing he did in part 2. Kill him in chapter 12 would've been the best course of action, in my opinion. He dies in every route, and he can still Spoiler join in CF, since chapter 12 isn't quite the same there. Cue story that won't get resolved. Have some faith in the game, would ya? It won't get resolved if I lose Arthur, but otherwise... I see Ruby's got the "I don't want to see her die again" kind of dad- Kill him before Volo. Pffffhahahah... what a turnabout. I mean, unless it's someone who's Sylvis tier why would you do this in advance though? Because a lot of the mercs are a great help in main missions, and they get more happiness from being deployed in one to boot. For example, Axel's at his best in the main missions, as they're where you'll find search tiles, and he's by a longshot the game's best searcher. Van million curses on their foolish heads. There we go, there's the thing. The thing that's been plaguing me since the day I made it. You know, what really bothers me is that I didn't properly center the text. It looks like it's just a few pixels too high. Damnit...! A game as long as this is? I'm thankful that we get some reminders now and again. Hah! All right, I'll give you that one. They'll completely understand while we arrange the fight against Raze if we're too occupied to bother. Hurr durr I am a complete idiot and I think with my dick! A hundred men or less to resolve a recurring problem in the lands around you before it can possibly get worse and affect yourselves? No, that's too much. We weren't even doing anything else at the time! SEE VOLCENS AND EVERYONE ELSE? Fucking hell Berwick's fucked. I said we need to move on to Vestaria. I'm not so sure it was a joke anymore. Berwick can be unfucked if we just press on. And have Volcens murdered. Sounds about right. Also sounds about right. That right there could be summed up as Volcens.txt They know this kid's the son of one of their front line generals, right? They do realise that that might not be the best plan to get the son killed off because how dare this kid show a concern for his country (not even his own subjects mind), or are they so sure it'd be consequence free? Considering this is Protag-kun, chances are the dad might have a massive trick up his sleeve- Oh why am I bothering, this is Volcens we're on about. To be honest, I could've called the thread "Volcens is the cause of all the world's problems", and the only flaw with that is that it wouldn't rhyme. ..... I'm not going to remember this guy's name (I legit do not care), but I'm more than okay to see him get killed off with his own lack of action being the cause. The more absurd and pathetic the better. Hah, we'll see what becomes of him. Valery's cornered the market by being the guy who puts up the notices. Who notices the noticeman? He's the true villain! Does this mean Fianna's near Neam? Right around the corner, no doubt. That or Valentin threatened to kill Valery if he did put them up. Or people saw how corrupt things were getting and opted out, which will be made easier once they see things are happening. There are a few possible reasons. None of them result in Valery being a good person. Go up to your profile pic in the corner and press it, then go for the option saying My Attachments (If on the night theme it's the second one down). Here's the dumb part. You have to go to the post they were linked to, go to edit the post and then you can delete the attachments from there. Speaking of, I am really quite disappointed in the lack of memes I'm thinking of right now. I, too, am disappointed in all of you. Only I am redeemable among those in this thread! The animations and art of Blustone are so great that I really would pay for a fully animated show. Why is everyone wearing a trenchcoat, and why isn't the real world like that? Also, I had a weird dream last knight where Serenes Forest styled the background as a pizza parlor for April Fools, and each section of the site took you to a different part of the "restaurant" to "order" your stuff. It would take a lot of work, but that is an interesting idea for a website joke. I also had a dream that predicted a new Heroes channel would appear and it would feature meme units. It was mostly right, even if it didn't predict pantless Marth. Last knight pffffff hwahahahahahah okay that's the greatest typo. Anyway. Mods, make this man's dream happen next year. Also also, I was finally laid off yesterday. Production has reduced to the point they were forced to do so due to the virus. A bummer, but I was prepared for this to happen any day now. On the bright side, I actually have some more free time again. Should probably get around to writing that book everyone is suggesting I do. I'm sorry, man. This situation's screwing with everyone... Twas a joke. I'm not that familiar with food, so I wouldn't know what that was in the first place. No sweat. I've heard of Rebel Without a Cause, though I don't know anything about it. I go a step beyond; I haven't even heard of it. Also, for some reason they're making a movie with in in it as a CGI actor. That is... such a dumb idea. So Volcen was replaced by a slime monster, scares almost everyone who works with him, is evil enough that his neighbors are not at allsurprised when he declares a war and uses underhanded tactics, and his family members reminisce on how loving he once was? Serious question: why is everyone calling him Volcen all of sudden? It says it right there, Volcens! Plural, Volcenses! Possesive, Volcens's! IQ, Volcens - which is to say none! I don't think it's as bad in practice, but Fates story would have been a lot more interesting if Garon was actually alive when the game started instead of being replaced by an insane dragon trying to appear sane. I know little about him. Groans of increasing discomfort, and beyond that... Kaga is great. Even if he's a bit of a savant. I'm not surprised, though. I know that having sprites for each weapon would already take a lot of time and work, and considering how many unique classes there are in this game, it eventually passed the point of practicality. The awesome animations do significantly lesson the blow. I know they do for me. Still, at least a pitchfork animation for Adel wouldn't have hurt. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was. Don't know if S-supporting Rhea is "better" or worse, considering the kinds of technicalities involved. But at least she's an adult, and she... exists? It's still pretty fucked up, but it's better than whatever marrying Sothis is supposed to be. *Hawkwing's will remember that* Reveal hidden contents Is it the chapter where you capture some people for some suspicious employer that misled you on how bad said people were? Heheh... ah, who knows. You'll just have to wait and see. Also, stop opening spoiler boxes from the game's translator, you irresponsible doofus. If nothing else, Fates can't be criticized for lacking in interesting ideas. Whether or not they were executed well is why the game is still divisive years later. Better divisive than universally hated, ain't that right? In no particular order: Shadow Warrior 2, though I'm close to beating this one. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fire Emblem Three Houses Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Mega Man X Collection (Got it for 10 bucks at the eShop) 7 Resident Evil 4. It's pretty telling that my first response after realizing I accidentally saved one of the extra modes over my new game+ file was "Great! Now I have an excuse to play the game all over again!" Seriously, though, this game is surprisingly addictive. Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger Daemon X Machina Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword Metal Gear Solid 3D although for this one I just need to beat the final boss to complete my first run on hard Technically add Ultimate Chicken Horse for when my brother wants to play. And I started another run of Shadow Dragon yesterday, because why not? You are the world's most irresponsible cinnamon roll. You can add that to your resume, next to "bloodthirsty". It gets the job done. Really, the lack of a good wireless mouse is the main reason I don't play as many games as I could on it. I can see how that'd be a bit of an issue. Maybe Although now I want to see a Dean that's a monk that's the head of a law college in charge of ten others in a valley of justice. Dean Wright: Ace Edgelord. Been intending to. Did so in the middle of writing this [section of the] update [initially], and I have to say, nice way of keeping track. Keeping track...? Of what? Oh yeah, most of the game's problems stem from the fact that they bit far more than they could chew. Four routes was too much for their budget and their time, and it shows. I forgot to bring up the music. Pretty cool! Also, Jade's first reaction to an alien invasion is to grab a burning stick and beat the crap out of them. About right. That would most certainly be more cost effective than sending a ninja in a rowboat and hoping they don't suffer from Berwicks low hit rates. After all, the chance of Volcens being a self-destructive dumbass is 100%! Don't blame you, it's a good looking collar. Say what you will about him, but he's got a good sense of fashion. Evil fashion, but fashion. Not much to do about it, unfortunately. It helps/hurts that several of the examples shown so far have the unchanged dialogue fit the continuing conversation. Sorry... Masterless samurai that tended to find work as bodyguards, mercenaries, or criminals. Find work as criminals. Now there's a sentence. Guess few people visit his shop, then. Though having some of your sold off junk disappear when you might want it back would be an annoying mechanic, admittedly. But... it's not a shop, he's a loan shark! Those items are collateral, you're supposed to want to get them back at some point. Halfmann just sucks at his job. Even walking trees aren't known for their agility. That's probably true. Is that lava? As early as the second sidequest? Well, it's merely cosmetic. Oh Nice to hear that Berwick Saga makes enemies play by the same rules as the player. Although it doesn't address my primary issue with fog of war in Fire Emblem, that being you don't know about the enemies stats, so you often have to hope that a unit is strong enough to survive against an unknown opponent. Yeah, that's kind of a bummer, but at least here you can hide from the enemies until they reveal themselves, if you so wish to. Typical fog of war. Ah, so it seems I was wrong about soldiers poisoning the water for a tactical advantage. Instead, we have Evil Cult #Won't bother counting again. Hey, it ain't a cult, it's a church! ...that makes it Evil Church #2, after Loptyr/Loptous/Loptr/Lopsided. It's basically the same as the evil cults, but hey. I gotta defend my favourite game. Also, what's up with Disaad's chin? It looks like he has a second mouth there, or his chin was cut off at some point and he duck-taped what was left back on. One thing's for sure: Disaad portrait. Does he ever actually reappear, out of question? I don't remember seeing him again when I first read through the update. Well... Ah, so she has durability issues. ...among others, yes. To be fair, the game's knights don't have Hurry. Because Kaga hates knights. I can't tell whether I should compliment Arthur for using his shield to protect his hands instead of throwing it behind him like most videogame and movie characters do, or criticizing him for leaving the rest of his body exposed. Hey, he's an anime swordsman. Even if he's using a shield, he must leave himself exposed while striking so he may be overly dramatic about it. Now that you mention it, yeah, her spear kind does look like a giant pencil. Maybe she hopes to kill her enemies with lead poisoning? If so, that probably explains why she's so bad. Does Berwick Saga have TRS's quirk were some thrown weapons hit despite being above the enemies head? Nah, I don't think so. Ah, nevermind. There he is. I suppose that cripples not being able to move all the way sometimes is an alright mechanic. Prevents some frustration while capturing while not being something to rely on. It makes sense, but it's annoying when it happens to you. Guess they thought they were going to die anyway, so why not fall at the hands of the guy with the cool skill effect? Hah! Yeah, fair enough. I don't know why, but the sprites in both these screenshots look likes she's walking there grumpily and halfheartedly stabbing the guy. While these look like a backhanded slap, but with a spear. And then she wants me to pay for her services? Pfah! Cool animation too. It seems like she's the fun kind of powerful. Indeed, that she is. It's why I'm fine with using her. She's broken, but in a fun way. BERSERK IS IN THIS GAME?!?! Of course it is. Why wouldn't Kaga add it? This is Kaga we're talking about! He's learning through experience. That accounts for something, right? The experience of not being able to do it? I remember bolas being an item in Tak 2: Staff of Dreams, as a tool mostly used for crossing over pits and the like during platforming. I think it could also be used for ranged combat, but it's been a while since I've played the game. It was pretty fun, too. Had the classic Nickelodeon humor and some solid platforming, even if I never finished it due to how odd the structure of the second half of the game was (it was still linear, but it was kinda difficult to tell if/how you were making progress). I initially thought you said the name of that game was "Talk 2". I thought that was weird. Repeat what I said about Berwick having damn good background artists. Repeat noted. So Kaga did it first again. War monks are a class in Awakening that healers and troubadours can promote into. They wield axes (the closest Fire Emblem can get to maces, I suppose) and staves. They're pretty much there to give your healers more durability if you want that over giving them the ability to use magic. The female version of the design is pretty infamous for how ridiculous it looks, although it can wrap around to being hilarious. ...Oh god, poor Anachronic Glasses Mom's back! I keep misreading "Razenclaw" as "Ravenclaw"and thinking this guy is a Harry Potter fan for some reason. Not the only one, I can assure you. It kinda looks like the Razite is dancing and Elbert is disappointed or confused that his attempt to attack the feet didn't work. Elbert's makin' him dance! Kaga does your ideas first. How ironmannable would you say this game is, by the way? I know it's better than Three Houses, but how does it compare to the rest of the series? It's better than Three Houses because Three Houses doesn't give half a damn about permadeath. But due to how unique everyone is in this game and how irrepleceable some of the units' utility is... I'd say BWS's not that good, either. It's going to sting when I lose someone, that much I can tell you. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to grow a full beard. I can get a goatee just fine, but the hairs on the side don't seem to like the idea of coming out at the same time. Hey, don't feel so bad. I've got a fine beard for my age, but my stache refuses to extend beyond my lips. I look like a weird cross between a mexican soap opera protagonist, a bum and Ward. Wait, there was a bag over there? Yep. Go back and check if you don't believe me. I can see what Brightbow means by her being a show-off. She's just great, that's all. Maybe they saw The Lord of The Rings and though the Mount Doom scene looked like cool place to hold a meeting. Or they were fans of James Bond, although I don't know how prevalent the "volcano lair" trope actually is in that series. Maybe he just hates the cold with a passion. See my earlier comment about his chin. Yep, indeed. AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH Oh wait. It's April Fools. And I still pushed the actual update faster. You really need them typing lessons, don't you... I don't understand the music choice, but nice joke. It's the actual music that plays during that scene. No jokes there. I... take it that this makes sense if you play the game itself. Not really. This is a scene that can be understood without knowing anything else about the game. Just... look at it. This games writing must be... interesting... I'll defend that game forever, but the writing's... well, let's just say, you can tell it was written by a 15 year old. Damn good hacker, but writing wasn't his strongest suit. Aw, Indiana Jones is dead in this universe to. That has to be one of the most nonsensical recurring jokes for those who weren't been around last time. Also, which Kain are you referring to here? All you need to know is: he's the edgelord's brother, and he's dead. That's a snazzy looking suit for a world sprite. It's a recolor of Halfmann's map sprite. ... ...Oh, right, the surprise. The plot thickens... Doesn't it? On 4/4/2020 at 5:31 AM, Hawkwing said: I see I still have to break old habits of spending a long time typing these. Yes, indeed... Also, the joke on the title became a lot funnier and fitting in hindsight. Hah! Right. If you were Reese, Volcens would've done away with your titles. Just because he can. Huh. Maybe it was for the best I replied late, then. Nah, no worries. I kinda wonder what this would line sounds like to someone that doesn't know the context. Unsettling, I would assume. Either rule of drama or the adults have better resistance. I actually looked back to see if the original scenario said anything about others getting poisoned, but it seemed to focus largely on the children. Disaad is just bad at his job. Out of question, would this line change if you slaughtered them all? I don't think so, they're talking about "catching the culprits" as in, finding and stopping them. Hahahahahahaha Maybe in another game, Ruby. Maybe in another game. That's her best shot, at any rate. Reese may have good eyes, but he lacks the silver tongue of other Fire Emblem protagonists. Which makes for a nice change of pace, but the other lords would have run circles around recruiting these two. ...Then again... Rennac may've been shit, but at least he was shit you only had to pay for once (or not at all, if you used L'Arachel). Ruby... Let's not go that far. ... Though would a verbal beating from Eugen be too much? Dude, they're kids, not serial killers. The other Arthur would be proud. h Aitch indeed! And I'm curious to see how. Patience. Remember this? I do sadly. Anyway, I remember you saying he was once an amazing knight that is now a drunk looser that has to take up mercenary work to pay off his tabs. Lets see what he's like in personality! Reveal hidden contents He's gonna be awesome in gameplay, isn't he? That's how Kaga tends to roll. Eheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheh... ...... Yes. Maybe he personally owns the lava cave, and the Church of Raze won't get to use if he's imprisoned? Considering how some soldiers literally just walked in there to kill/capture everyone, they must just want it for novelties sake, if nothing else. I mean, who wouldn't want a lava cave lair, even if it isn't practical? Ah, settings. Some games don't have enough, and others go completely overboard. Yeah... there's like 5 pages of settings in this game. I am afraid to ask about any bureaucratic nightmares worse than the one in this game. Volcens is the answer to everything. Explaining them does the job right now. I'm starting to see what you mean by them getting some mileage out of this presentation style. They did do quite a lot. Why is this music so oddly fitting for the situation? Volcens is a clown, yet he can do (and probably has done) some serious damage. That's the basic synopsis of BWS. Just... what? WHAT?!? Ahahahahaha... and this is the basic reaction to BWS. You're threatening to remove the power of the only guy actually trying to do something? Something that would never have become a problem if you did your job?! And this is just chapter 1! How madness will he cause when we start diving into the meat of the story?! You have no idea. No idea! Padolf is probably the biggest "Yes-Man" of Yes-men that isn't a one-off. He's the epitome of the "Yes, my lord!" tier in my boss tier lists. This guy has a concerning bark, but what about his bite? Considering so far we're only facing him in diplomacy, a concerning bark is quite concerning indeed. Are there any drawbacks to accepting them (or accepting and failing the objective) or is this more or less free rewards as long as you meet the goal. The latter. You lose nothing but the rewards. Which are often quite great, so it's best to get them. Guess that's one way to look at job security. A rather wicked way. I take it some people with bounties on their heads will be much worse than "scalawags"? Most of them. I... don't think you're going to be capturing anything after an airstrike. And once again the unchanged text still fits the conversation. Sheesh... I am expecting a few memes to be made out of this format at some point. We could put up a hit on Volcens! Kinda interested in how bastard swords would be handled if Fire Emblem ever separated one and two handed weapons, considering the point of them was to easily work with both styles. Also, I just realized how fitting it is that only Volo can use it. Fucking edgy bastard... That's a pretty cool looking axe, at least artwise. It is pretty pleasant on the eyes, yes. I was looking through Awkward Zombie for some jokes earlier, and came across this, which I found fitting: Link: https://www.awkwardzombie.com/awkward-zombie/supply-and-demands That's basically how Halfmann works. I'm pretty sure you can't clear the attachments. The trick is to use a file hosting site, (in my case imgur, but I'm sure there's better options), then use the embed code from the uploads on there to put them on the site. Not the most efficient seeming way to do things, but it guarantees unlimited uploads. Also, if you use an image a lot, you only need to upload it once, but can link it however many times you need. Oh... well shit. I've had the dumbest attempt at a work-around since fe6. But, I think I'll keep to it this way. It's more convenient in the long run, believe me. Your theories get more and more contrived. And you didn't even accomplish anything, this still makes Valery out to be a horrible person! None of this justifies Valery in the slightest. It's still corruption, it's just inept corruption. Very inept corruption enabled by the world's worst loan shark. But it's funnier than the logical explanation. Yeah, exactly! It's funny no one picked the switch when he went from loving father and womanizer to Ganondorf lite. Then again, if Camilla's any example of what sort of loving he was (i.e., loves his family, is psychotic to everyone else), maybe it's not. Maybe they just liked the new Garon better? Pretty sure the murder is more lenient. They don't have to live with the memory of it. Implying that they'd survive beyond being Eugen'd. To be honest, I'm surprised you're the one to point this out. So am I! I must step up my game... Still, I assume Axel can walk on it... I'll have to try one day. In a little backstory that Kaga wrote about Reese's dad (Bernstol), this guy (Padolf)'s older brother (also Padolf; apparently it's a family name) was getting too "touchy-feely" with one of the maids at the royal palace one time, so Bernstol slugged him so hard it put him in the hospital. Bernstol got in trouble for it, but he also got props from King Mordias, since he didn't like the elder Padolf to begin with. Kaga's blog would make for a game of its own, wouldn't it? Silly Ruben... Reveal hidden contents Chronologically, the opening crawl hasn't even been written yet, so this is really the first time we're hearing about this! ...That's how that works, right? Oh, you're completely right! That totally excuses being told the same information twice! I love this new canon that Valery is really a mole. Just the kind of flair his character needed. Last time I made Sasha out to be certifiable. Let's see where this new rabbit hole'll take us... Sadly, to quote Eugen: We need Eugen to punch a hole in the fabric of space and time, jump through it and come to Lazberia to save us from Volcens. That's... probably not the best way I could've worded that first option. It sounds like Reese is saying, "Bitch, did you really just interrupt me?" I request that you change it to "bitch, I'm not finished talking yet" next patch In all seriousness, something like "Show me the list of contracts" would've been more fitting. Anyway, we're so close to Chapter 2! We'll be meeting the three units who I can only guess are the official artist's favorite characters, based on some extra sketches of them that he made. (I'll share them once we actually meet them.) Today, in fact! Let'sa go, and hopefully none of them will die just yet. On 4/4/2020 at 7:06 PM, The Roger The Paladin said: I like my "bumbling gambling addict" one, even if it requires Halfmann to be even more idiotic canonically than in gameplay. Mind, either one works. We're giving all of these characters such personalities. A shame none of them are good. That'd be interesting. Imagine if it were just water with party lights under the surface to fake it being lava. I can totally see Disaad being so wasteful. Well... it could be worse. He could have called her poopnose. (Why do I keep going back to that?) Because you're a poopnose yourself. On 4/5/2020 at 12:11 AM, Pengaius said: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YES, THANK YOU MY GOOD SIR! I AM ABOUT TO UNLEASH MY FULL POWER AFTER SO LONG, TREMBLE BEFORE MY INCONSISTANT QUALITY MEME RECKONING. I still think that finding an image hosting site would be a better solution. Now you're going to ruin all my threads by deleting shit. And, well, all those others threads, but mine are the important ones. It doesn't even make sense. The word "good" cannot appear in close proximity of Arkis. It just doesn't work like that. I update the LP here: Spoiler So Christine will get the second horse, because she can hand it over to someone else if needed be. Same music as the first main mission. Today's map and team. I wanted to bring Arthur along, but without vulneraries or cash to buy more, I felt I'd probably need Izerna. As for the map, it looks straightforward enough now, but if chapter 1 proved anything, it's that this game's main maps never stay as they are at the beginning. We'll be seeing some quite special reinforcements. Don't forget that we've got three citizen requests to take care of, too. I shall give the order to the soldiers to ready themselves for battle. The main hideout is just south of the Neam River, correct? We should attack as soon as we can. I would like to, milord, but I've heard intel that the bridges along this road were destroyed several months back. Good thing you've heard intel, otherwise Reese wouldn't have been able to see the broken bridge right in front of him. But if we follow the river east, we should come across some shallows that we can cross easily enough. An unfortunate delay, but as long as we can finish this by nightfall, all should turn out fine. At least, I pray that it will. I don't want to think about what will happen if we take too long... Although there's nothing that we can do about that right now. They'll have to wait until later. I'm sorry, Ward. I feel like I've dragged you and all the other knights into this mess. I really wish I had the political clout that my father does... I doubt it'd do much good here. These pompous, city-dwelling lords all look down on us "redneck savages." I'd like to see Padolf call you a "redneck savage" to your beard, Ward. He'd cease existing in no time. Yeah! Let's show Volcyboy just how superior we are! Man alive, I feel like I'm breathin' fire after that Ligan whiskey! Today's brigand leaders are Valentin, whose face we've seen before, and Bengriton, the brains behind the operation. For some reason Valentin has an article on the bad wiki, but they call him Harrington. Meanwhile, characters like Tianna, Volcens, Roswick and Sienna have nothing. I can't say I understand. C'mon, Ben, don't spoil the fun! Here, you have some too! Relax with me! I been so tired lately... Tired o' runnin'... Why'd they hafta put such a huge price on us, huh? "Us"? But... they only put a price on you! Ben overthere's got no bounties to his name! Maybe he paid Valery's protection fee behind Valentin's back... I didn't kill anyone important... All you do is drink and drink, and you got the gall to say you're tired?! Lemme show ya how it's done, Val! A hundred, two hundred... As many as it takes! Pile them bodies high, boys! Tsk, all right, Ben... Man, what a slave driver... Bengriton and Valentin leave the fort. Ben will stand there and protect it, but Val will move if approached. Better be careful. Meanwhile, in a cave north of there... We find ourselves some new music! As well as some new characters! These two are Kramer, mercenary (the class) and Czene, local sassy thief whose name I am unsure how to pronounce. I'm... not sure what's this ring they're looking for. Pretty sure it's never mentioned again. The third person is Faye, except this one has a character. We searched every inch of that chest, but there's nothing but junk. So I guess it's not here after all. Anyway, I'm beat! All this running around and searching can really tire a girl out! It's regrettable, but it cannot be helped, I'm afraid. More importantly, we should consider leaving this cave quickly. We don't want to be caught in here. Guess you're right. Don't want to lose my head to those bastards outside... Even the great Kramer cannot hope to hold off a legion of brigands if he must protect two ladies at once... And I'll just slip away while you two are distracting them. Hiding in the woods is easy! Hahahah... Poor Kramer's powertrip didn't last long at all, did it? Hmph, do as you wish! Should we make it out of this alive, may we meet again in Navaron! The three leave the cave. See what I meant? Map hasn't even begun yet, and already we've had more stuff thrown our way. Righto, it's on! If Reese dies, it's game over. Ward cannot die, so there's nothing to be worried about there. Also, we've got Arbitrary Volcens Time Limit #1. Aside from the time limit, however, there's a new concept I'd like to introduce right now: rankings. You know me, I've never cared much for rankings, but there's one in particular that's very important in this game - the tactics rank. You see, in every main mission, you can get up to 3 tactics points. When you get 18 tactics points, Reese promotes. He can promote without tactics points, but it's obviously better to get him earlier, and I'm pretty sure you can't permanently recruit a certain unit unless you promote Reese early. Today's tactics points are simple enough to get (which isn't to say they'll be easy to get). You get one point simply for clearing the map, another one if you clear it in under 21 turns, and a third one for clearing it under 18 turns. As you can see, this map rewards swiftness - but there'll be maps where you'll actually have to wait for things to happen, or go out of your way to do difficult deeds, which is pretty interesting. Before we can do anything else, though, we've got new units to talk about. First up is Kramer. He's a swordie with pretty good strength, which is nice, but his skillset... could be better. - Arrowbane, we know. It's always useful. - Knock Away, if it procs, will unequip the enemy's gear, as if they'd been injured. Proc skill in Berwick Saga = lame most of the time. Next. - Remember how I once mentioned cliffs reduce personal avoid to 0 if a unit stands on them? Kramer doesn't suffer from that. In fact, if he stands on a cliff and an enemy attacks him at range 0, he'll actually reduce the enemy's avoid to 0 without being affected himself. Definitely his strongest skill, but it's not saying much. Kramer's biggest flaw is that he's outclassed, really. He needs 30 sword skill and 15 personal level to promote, but when he gets there, he merely becomes a worse version of Volo and a unit we'll get in the future. Again, he's kind of outclassed, but he works well enough. Czene is a lot more interesting. She's a thief, and as such, she uses daggers and has no strength. However, she's not meant to fight. Her strengths lie with her skillset: - The lord doesn't have Locktouch unlike in TRS, so Czene is worth bringing along to any maps that feature chests and doors. - Watchful will be huge in plenty of maps, as it reveals hidden enemies without having to get next to them. When we start facing archers with Overwatch, this'll be a great asset. If I use it properly, of course. By the way, Obfuscation is a skill that conceals enemy stats and inventory - makes it so you cannot access these screens at all, under the same conditions as Hide. - Adept, it's... eh. Not the best for a unit like her. - She can do a decent job as a searcher, even though Axel is clearly better at it than her. - Hide is important, as she's made of wet toiler paper. - Mug works like TRS Steal: if it procs, it'll steal items. Not good, and there's a future thief with a steal skill that activates on command. Czene is the opposite of Kramer, in that her biggest strength is perhaps her promotion. Unlike most other units, she has no WpSkill requirement; she merely needs to level up a bunch, trigger a few events, and then she'll promote. And here's the kicker: when she promotes, she gains a horse. That's right, Kaga did horse thieves first. Pretty fun thief to play around with. Faye is a frailer, weaker Kramer, but she's fast enough that she can do that weird thing where she counters range 1 attacks. She has the following skillset: - Adept, again, awesome when it procs. Her speed is quite high, so that helps. - Sunder can be used if she hasn't moved yet, as many other skills. It increases her crit. Hilarious, but I'd take the certain utility of Pulverize over this. - Parry is basically Pavise, only it damages the weapon a bit when it happens. Bleh. - Iaido, as we saw back when I reviewed Volo, is basically Aim but worse, because it has to proc. Overall, not great. She's kinda like Ruby in that using her is a requirement to get another, very strong unit. However, Faye does have more to her name than Ruby did. I used Faye in my first run and Ruby in the second, and by themselves I think Faye was more useful. For one, she promotes as soon as she's permanently recruited (making it one of the easiest promotions to get in the game), and she gains a pretty kickass skill while at it. She also has a personal weapon. It's like the knight sword, only it also adds crit and is quite durable. She can fight rather well so long as she has the cutlass. Without it she's rather underwhelming. You couldn't see it on the map, but this guy's crippled from the beginning. He carries a bag full of medicine. I want that bag. Thankfully, he'll be heading for the escape point below the three newcomers, so they can intercept him rather easily. That's right, that there is a escape point. This may be a seize map, but in case Kramer, Faye and Czene get into trouble, the game gives you a way to save them. Let us begin. I've been bashing speed pretty hard, but there's no denying that that 14% hit is extremely pleasant to look at. Aight, girl! Show us a good first performance! Nice! Holy crap, enough! She went and procced Adept twice! Ahhhh, what a shame, you blew it. Bah, no matter. In fact, I think I like that it's come to this. Yeah, awesome job, Faye! Now I can feed the kill to Czene. This is just the icing on the cake. Before I can let Czene have her first kill, though, Christine uses her brand new horse to dodge. Then she aims at the air above the brigand, but luckily, her crossbow malfunctions and drops the bolt, which falls on his head. In all seriousness, nah, they just didn't make an animation where she aims down at enemies on the ground when she's on horseback. Oh, God... I shouldn't try this. Damnit, I should not try this... if she misses and gets hit, she'll be in mortal peril... but... oh, so tempting... g-gaah... ...Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh I am an irresponsible bastard! Thank you for succeeding. Not bad, not bad at all. All right, we'll get to see the crippling mechanic at work here. As you can see, he's trying to get to that tile, however... He couldn't make it. When you're crippled, you can move further the more HP you have. Low-health cripples will usually be unable to move further than one or two hexes. You wanna fight? Then you'll get one. Have at you! Yes, excellent! And that's a kill for Ruby. Would've liked to do it with a sword, but hers wasn't mighty enough. Keep at it, and you may have a future yet, girl. This guy is coming down to us. Let's not let him. Sylvis, please... Can I count on you, Reese? No, I can't. All is forgiven. I could go down with Kramer, since the other two have the left side covered, but take a look at the enemies just below the river. There's this. No, this guy isn't recruitable. This is actually the first instance of a cute little habit Kaga developed in this game: he loves to name his generics. Sometimes you'll randomly find generic enemies that are named. Usually they're stronger than usual, or have equipment or skills to watch out for. In Zacharro's case, he's got this dagger that's just made to screw over Faye and Kramer. And as if he wasn't enough... ...Yeah, we want a different kind of unit to go down there. Thus, Kramer will head west and capture the thief for us. Heck! Not so nice when you're on the receiving end, eh? Czene only has 1 strength, so she can only deal 2 damage at best with the basic dagger. It makes her annoying to level up enough to promote, but I did it in my first run, and let me tell you, it's easier than a good bunch of the "standard" promotions. Oh boy, what's this? Why, it's a new skill! It can only be used without moving, but it buffs the heck out of you. And when it says it stacks, it means it. Use it like 5 times, and you'll ruin the first person you come across. The problem is that, when it says "for next battle", it also means it. We could shoot an arrow at Bengriton, and all his cries will have been for naught, because the bonuses will go away after that battle where he couldn't use them. Even without them, though, Bengriton would be a decent foe. He's got a bucket of HP and an all right sword, and Sylvis won't one-shot this one. His biggest problem is that he won't move from the fort, so we can just pepper him with arrows until he dies. But it'll be a while till we get there. This is how things are looking. Turn two, we get some text. I'll just stash this here for now... There! I doubt anyone could find it even if they tried! 'Course, it's not like those thieves come this way often anyway. And even if they did, I'd be long gone before they got here. But... you're right next to their lair! Anyway, see that gray house? Gray houses can be searched, and they always contain goodies. Houses can also be used to Hide. See where I'm going with this? Well, first off, Elbert will fail to get spear level. Oh wow, this one doesn't just have a name, he has his own face! And his own music! This boss theme is most commonly found among minibosses and the like. I like that Kaga does this. I don't know, it's just a cool thing to me. It's also the reason why the steam forum of Vestaria Saga is full of threads asking how to recruit Amundsen. Guy's basically like Pizarro, a stronger generic that has a face for some reason. Anyway, what makes Pizarro special, aside from the horse, is that he's packing magical arrows. The worst magical arrows, to be precise. They deal a whopping 1 extra damage. Pfft. Not that it matters, 'cause he missed. Oh, the bastard's sitting atop one of our horses! Son of a bitch, c'mere! I love Reese's attack. Look at him! He's swinging so hard, his horse nearly falls over! Pizarro has made a mistake. He is in range of the best damn swimmer this side of Lazberia. And now he's half dead. Pffff... w-what!? What the hell's that dodge frame...? Well, at any rate, that put the brigand in the perfect spot to let Faye loose. Wonderful. All right, that's better. Holy shit, another crit! What's with all the crits in this run!? I know I used Sunder, but I still wasn't expecting that to work! The only enemies remaining are archers. They are unable to do much of anything. I've got a brilliant plan. Pizarro will want to use the clear road to flee from Axel. However, that just puts him in range of Sylvis. And if she uses Overwatch first thing next turn... see where this is headed? Heheheh... Why do they keep shooting at Kramer? He has Arrowbane! Time to make yourself useful, Izerna. A cool feature is that you get to see how much you're healing on the unit's health bar. See the glowing part? That's how much she's getting healed. I may've sold her a little too short, but I still will bench her forever after we get the real healer. And when he dies, I'll get extremely angry at the world and proceed to have to use her again. Though, we probably could stand to skip that last step. Congratulations, random crippled guy! You made it to the tile! A shame it took you two turns. As a reward, I'll have Kramer carry you the rest of the way to the dungeon. There we go, excellent. Finally got a good shot of this. Yes, great! Blaaahh... All right, I'm done. Get sword points, even if you don't kill. You've got to be kidding me. She didn't even have the decency to get a shield point! You're up, Reese! I find your performance to be truly Reeseble. That's better. While Reese cantos ahead, Ward will do something different: He'll head back and go north. Ward will be singlehandedly taking care of the whole upper side of the map. A really tough opponent will appear there, and I want no less than the endgame beard to fend him off. As I learned the hard way last run, even the likes of Dean cannot compare to that bastard. Elbert's kind of in a bad spot. The muddy patches heavily impede his movement. Christine can catch up with her horse, Ruby's out of the mud and Sylvis isn't affected by it, so Elbert drew the short end of the straw here. Good job, man. You actually nailed him! Now, go ahead... retreat, ever closer to my trap... c'mon... c'mon...! HAHA! YOU'VE FALLEN FOR MY TRAP IN AMER-- ...he stayed put? Suit yourself, then. That just means I can have Axel pulverize you. But there's plenty of time for that. The others need to move more urgently. Oh whoa, one of those guys had Huntsman! That skill negates avoid obtained from forest tiles. Situational, but it was enough to push his hitrate against Faye above 20. A shame it won't save him or his pal from the goddess of crits! Nice, awesome! Keep this up, Faye. A new bow that is less crap than the ones we have? Great! Stop it already, you'll never win like this! 'Kay then, have it your way. As for you-- oh, son of a... well, no matter. So long as Sylvis is still there, he can't run, and Axel will have another chance next turn. Oh hey, Graham. Pizarro gets his own face, but this one is reused a couple maps after it first appeared. Whatever you want, Kaga. But a bandit called Maham caught wind that they were valuable, and he stole them from me. Those were all I had, too! That rotten fool... Oh, well that's just awfully convenient. It was at around this point that it hit me I'd sent Axel there without any means to heal himself. That just won't do... Ruby steps back so Izerna can reach her. Christine moves north to follow her liege. I cannot stress it enough, I love that these archers are so weak. I dread the moment we start facing tougher ones... If you recall, the objectives screen said Reese needs to speak to the three newcomers. So let's do it... wait, no talk command? Ah, okay, they talk if you wait. Sure, whatever. This is a pretty big dickmove, actually, as these conversations are all extremely important. Yeah... I came here on a job, but I messed pretty badly... I see. We'll have to talk about this later. For now, try to stay out of the fray. Will do! Thanks, you really saved my skin! The conversation itself wasn't all that, I know, but I'm fairly certain that at the very least Czene cannot be recruited if you don't speak to her here. It's dumb, I've got to admit. As our last move of the turn, Czene will be heading toward that bag there. All right. Before anything else, let's see if we can take down this cheeky bastard before he moves. Expertly done, Axel. Not so expertly done, Ruben. You missed the damned popup again... Kramer gets hit by an arrow. Arrowbane, my butt. Elbert's out of the mud for now, at least. See, that's more like it. I like how this bandit's too scared to attack Ward. No wonder. Ward's the endgame beard, after all. Finally, someone triggered this! There we go, that guy's been invalidated for the entire turn. Panicking in the face of certain demise, the bandit has finally sprung into action, tossing a handaxe at Ward. A bold, if futile effort. And now it's your turn to die! Unbelievable...! The generic next to Zacharro and Ortega is on the move. I'm not sure why he doesn't have a name of his own, he packs stronger handaxes and the Throw skill, so he's as special as them. I love the healing effects in this game. Look at that, gorgeous. Quite the step above... really, anything FE has, as far as healing goes. For a minute I was confused as to why that guy was wielding a dagger even though he was an archer. Then I realized the upper half of his bow is concealed by Kramer's arm, so it looks like a dagger. Pfft... You confused me slightly, little man! For that, you shall perish! Why must this always happen? That's better. Thank you, Chris. Here's a thing that I don't think we've seen before: mounted units cannot cross cliffs. They just can't, it's impossible. Even when dismounted, knightly types have a hard time moving through this kind of terrain. But in this case, it's enough. Good. Perhaps we could get Reese his first level today. I'm Faye, a mercenary. You're one of Narvia's knights, right? In a fashion. I'm Reese of Sinon. My father is Margrave Bernstol. Regardless, we'll take it from here. I've been assigned to take care of the bandits in this area. I appreciate it. Things were quickly starting to get out of hand... You kiddin' me, Faye? You were handing everybody their asses on silver platters! It's quite the far cry from my first run. In which you died here. Czene will pick up the goods and run for her life. I don't want her anywhere near there when that guy appears. It's a material! One of these days I'll have to show you guys the full list of stuff you can make at the atelier. And with that, it's turn five! We've making pretty good progress. Who knows, this might be the first time I get all three tactics points for this map. First order of business, this guy must die. Poor loser can't even throw his axe at Ward's shield. All right, it's time for some smart tactics. First, Elbert gives Sylvis his vulnerary. And now Axel may come over, take it, and get healed to full by Izerna while he's here! This should suffice to fight through any opposition he may encounter while searching the two houses. But first, this guy is still coming. Way to leave him hanging, Zacharro and Ortega. You could've charged with him, but you just let him face his doom alone instead. But not to worry. Your time will come soon, as well. I didn't realize it at the time, but thanks to Blessing, he actually gets full health from this. Never let it be said that Blessing is useless. Only mostly so. Czene begins her retreat. Next turn she may speak to Reese. As for you, I think you've gotten to play around with that little axe of yours long enough. Break time's over, time to die. Well, that's about it. I don't think Christine should be advancing on her own, so let's just... Yet another setting that is disabled by default: this warning appears if somebody has yet to move when you try to manually end the turn. I know of a few times when this would've been quite helpful indeed... On 1/11/2018 at 11:16 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Urrrkkk.... Kramer will lure this guy closer. Brilliant. I am the most skilled screenshooter ever. Axel makes his way back to the houses. You inmense-- --bastard! Thank you! Zacharro is finally on the move. What's the big idea? Why are they coming one by one? Well, whatever it is, it won't end well for 'em. Did you know that Faye is another one of BWS's bad units? Y'know, the girl that's singlehandedly destroying the Neam Bandits? As usual, my LPs just can't be normal. With her crossbow in hand, Christine will face Zacharro. Mostly because I don't feel like losing any of my swords right now. Kramer'll have to leg it first thing next turn, though. Things aren't looking bad. Well, aside from the fact that Izerna's been left behind because she can't walk. There's the first batch of reinforcements! One of them is more important than the others. Keltzar is the guy who stole Savat's ring. To get it, we must murder him to death. Ward will take care of that. I caught the funniest frame of Kramer's overworld animation. Oi! Where do you think you're going? Attack Christine! I had everything planned until you didn't do what I wanted you to! Bah, I'll deal with you later. For now, it's time to get that grass. Oh, shit! You don't actually need the Search skill for this house (notice it said "investigate"), but since Axel was already there, I figured I might as well. The crit's kinda scary, but don't forget, we're actually completely safe here. Losing one of these "house" battles will not result in death. I mean, not that Axel's going to lose. He took a couple scratches, but nothing much, really. Really not feeling the gore so far. It's more difficult when the portraits aren't low-res. But it's one of my gimmicks, damnit. I wanna keep it. I'm fond of painting blood all over people's faces, okay? Anyway, we get this as well as a little bonus that Axel robbed. Why does he have a bow? I'm pretty sure he never comes out of the house... Well, who cares. That's one citizen request fulfilled. Two to go. By the way, you cannot see it here, but Axel hid after the searching was over. That's always really handy. Even if he's badly wounded, he'll be safe from the actual enemies. There's a list of key items that you can check out. It's neat. Zacharo and Ortega have this too. Damnit. This archer guy is extremely irrelevant. Might as well let him roam free for now, there are bigger fish to fry. Worth a shot. It's not like his little toy can break pencils. Look at that, she did it. I'm impressed! No spear points, though. Meh. Ohh, you're so annoying... Zacharroooo! That helps, thanks. Unlike Faye and Kramer, Czene has a talk command. Why, yes, I did wait last turn and that's why I didn't have them talk. I've the memory of a goldfish. Don't worry, I'm not your enemy. It's dangerous here, so try to get away as quickly as you can. Oh, got it, thanks! I owe you one, mister! Ruben, there's a lesson you need to learn: waiting until the action menu pops up makes it impossible to tell who's moving. Anyway, it's Reese. I'm trying to showcase the fact that you cannot mount on cliffs. Don't worry, he's only using his shortsword. A negligible loss, if it does break. Besides, the swordbreak didn't happen. Izerna and Keltzar both advance. In Keltzar's case, that only puts him within reach of Ward's beard. One short of the one-shot... that's annoying. The longspear would be a one-shot, but I'd rather leave him at one HP and get two chances to kill next turn than whiff him until he's out of reach. Turns out it was the right call! I hadn't noticed, but he has Vantage! By hitting Ward, Keltzar has ended the first round of combat, but since the knight sword gives Ward a second round... He gets to whiff it. Perhaps I underestimated this guy. He won't stop to attack, either. He'll make a beeline for his escape point, which is right at the beginning of the map. I pray I'll get lucky before he gets there... That's very tempting, but if she misses twice he could break the cutlass. I refuse to let that happen. So she moves south and the following turn, we do it the boring way. Goodbye. Whoa, he was worth a ton of experience... The one archer pursuing us gives Ruby her first point of shield skill. Excellent. I like how they gave her 0 base skill with shields and no shields in her starting inventory. It fits her reckless personality: she thinks she's hot shit, so she never even bothered to use a shield before. Time to search the second house. Finders keepers, as they say. And it looks like Axel's axe found your head! Another material! ...Oh, blistering barnacles... Goodbye, random bow we found on a guy who could never have used it. You shall be missed. ...Come to think about it, he probably could've used it against any bowmen that entered his house. Yeah, now it makes sense. Anyway, this is me trying to convey that searchers get experience from searching. They get some for searching and for killing the enemy if they can. So that's awesome. We've now looted all the lootable houses. Axel's mission is done for now; I will not have him charge the bosses alone. You coming after me again? You just don't learn, do you? Yes, perfect! I should never have doubted you, beardman! Hah! I am the Knight Commander of Sinon! You could never hope to touch me! C'mon, Ward! Don't falter now...! You should give it up. I am clearly the swifter fighter. Crickety old farts like you do not belong on the battlefield. Crickety old-- why, you insolent...! I'll show you just how "crickety" I really am! HAAAAAAAAARGH! Yes! That's it! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...! Ohohohohohohohoh...! He whacked him so hard, he crippled him! That guy's not gonna be stealing any more rings any time soon. ...Oh, I just had the most delicious idea! Yeah, yeah, you die. Can we go back to Keltzar, please? And he's heading south! Excellent! Can you guess what I intend to do? Heheheheh... She's being surprisingly light on the skill levels. Considering her lowest growth is shield at 60%, that's kind of unacceptable. Heck, sword growth is 80%! I know there's a formula, but how bad can that formula be that it makes you miss that growth so many times over? Due to his movement type, Reese again has trouble getting to places. Another factor that makes infantry and cavalry a lot more balanced than in most FE games - rough terrain is extremely common in this game. Sadly, it also serves to screw over the game's knights completely. Once again, Kaga despises knights with a passion. While he begins haphazardly crossing the river, Christine fires a round at Ortega. Damnit, Ortega! Well, no matter. We've made good progress. It's not even turn 10, and Reese is nearly there already. I think we'll get those tactics points, folks! More reinforcements. No surprises this time, they're just generics. Faye moves forth to confront Ortega, while Czene hides in the woods. Not sure why I moved her there. At this point she's got nothing to do, really. You have failed, Ortega. And now... Face the critical justice! Iaido!!! ...that was cheesy, I apologize. By the way, he's still alive, even after a second hit. What an absolute unit. C'mon Reese, you can do it. Put your back into it, cheap horse! Worth a shot? Nope. A new generic attacks Ward. Why anyone would ever do that is beyond my comprehension. That's really the only way it could've ever ended for him. Nevermind, Ward missed. Ah, no matter. Keltzar is heading ever closer to Izerna. His will be a most humilliating fate. That one archer is also heading back, though. It could be trouble for Izerna. We'll worry about that later. For now, let's end Ortega. Seriously, what's this nonsense? This many crits just isn't normal. Who's been sacrificing goats in my name? Please, keep at it. She's definitely getting a level at this pace. Okay, turn 10, and things are looking splendid. I am very happy. To preserve the knight sword a bit, Ward uses the shortsword instead to finish the job. Well, that's just perfect. Thank you for making this so convenient for me. You probably need to go, though. I don't want you messing up Izerna. Aaaand he missed. As if. As if! The army has mostly made it past the river. These troops should suffice to fight off Bengriton and Valentin. The next turn, my plan finally bears its fruits. Hahahah, yes! Cleric capture! O-Oh, my goodness...! What happened to you, sir?! ...g-gh... t-the... old man...! What...? Oh, General Ward? I spared that man's life, in spite of his insults against my person. Please, treat him as best you can... but don't you forget your lesson, boy. Quit this life of crime, lest you meet somebody less merciful than I. Y... yes... never again will I... unnnhhh... Please, hold still. I'll take you someplace safe. But please, take his words to heart! This is where a life such as yours leads. I'm begging you to leave it all behind! You have... m-my word... (it's not like I'll ever be able to steal from anybody again without my right arm...!) There we go, we've recovered Savat's ring. Great. This is just marvelous. Well, guess that means I get to explain luck in this game. Every unit has 0 luck to begin with. Empty levels grant luck, as well as two particular pieces of food and getting crippled. If a unit has 1 luck, they will be saved from crippling (which isn't announced to the player, so I won't get to celebrate if it happens). If a unit has 5 luck, they'll be saved from death. The points are spent automatically. In a few words, luck is one of those very Kaga'ish mechanics that are needlessly complicated and obscure. The luck gain also means that Izerna just got the first empty level I've seen in my 2.1~ runs of this game. Boy, am I glad I've deployed her after talking so much shit about her. She looks like she's checking her watch! Let's set up another Overwatch here... ...Oh, you son of a bitch, I miscalculated. Valentin is weaker than Bengriton, but he packs a magical weapon, a better vulnerary (that one heals I think 40 HP?) and a skill that increases his movement. Of course, he can also move, which helps him quite a bit. He has the same weakness to Provoke as Graff, but since these two don't have Supporter, it's not as important to use it. Reese will be the one to lure him closer. Yaaah...! Piece of piss! She has a pretty dramatic flinching animation, but I caught, like, the second frame. I can't do anything right... Ben and Val's last generic falls now. Seriously, what the hell is going on?! People, can you please not stop getting crits? I'd love it if this was what the entire LP ended up looking like. By the way, at this point in time, I'd like to point out that Faye does not wear pants. Most females in this game dress pretty reasonably, but Kaga just couldn't resist, I suppose. Please don't be luck. Strength? Strength!? That's it, I'm using you again. This really isn't Elbert's day. He's done nothing since he killed that one brigand on turn 2, and now he's losing the race to the cleric against the generic archer. Meanwhile, Ward solo's the upper half of the map. You know, it's kinda refreshing to actually use the broken-ass unit for once. Helps that he's a lord and not available all the time, so his arse-kicking feels all the more special when it happens. Ruby doubles back to face reinforcements. She's about as useless as ever. Kramer, help her. Ah, there he is at last. He may only be a lowly brigand, but he's a main mission boss, so he gets this. I'll slice your flimsy body to bits, piece by piece! You wish, sucker! Bonk! No, scratch that - this is bonk! Axel is on the move. Perhaps I'll have him ambush Bengriton. Later, later. Right now, our target is Valentin. Ah! There he is! Anyone who gets close gets dead! In a different game, Zalius might've been a recruitable. In this one, though, he's just a miniboss out of nowhere. He's high level, but he's also extremely tough, so I don't feel too bad about feeding the kill to Ward. Really, I'm mostly interested in that broadsword of his. Mighty, decently accurate, has a little bit of crit... what's not to love? Well, for starters, the fact that it's being used against me! He also has this. Would be cool to capture him for it, but... really, I'll be content if I can kill him without trouble. He'll be a match even for Ward if he gets lucky with his crits, since the extra damage from crits ignores all defenses in this game. He could plink away at Ward's shield all day, but if he gets a crit, Ward will eat 10-20 damage, no questions asked. Well, I mean. It's damage. Bah. Who cares, this wasn't the important part. The important part is that I can use her to lure Valentin to Sylvis. I love it when a plan comes together. Even after I fuck it up. ...That's... lower than I'd like... Oh, thank goodness... Izerna will now do something that she's clearly never done before, given how bad she is at it: run for dear life. As for you! You should've kept running past her! You've got to be kidding me... Great, thanks. ...Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there's where I made the mistake. See, the problem with this is that I attacked without thinking. I rushed past the combat forecast like a reckless dummy. Hey, that's pretty good! But it doesn't change the fact that... Yeah, Kramer got 2-shot. Had he been hit last round, that would've been the first casualty of the run. Because I'm a complete idiot. Thankfully, Lady Luck decided to spare me for once, so I guess all's well that ends well. Still... goddamnit, I never learn, do I? Down south, Sylvis draws the steel arrows. My mistake didn't kill Kramer, but it did cost me in another way. You see, Valentin always moves first at this point, since units that were on the map already get to move before reinforcements that arrived later. However, if I have Sylvis kill Valentin next turn, I risk that the one fighter gets the first move and kills Kramer. Thus, I'm afraid I'll have to let Valentin run away to heal while I do the same with Kramer. Son of a... they're getting beaten by two base generics! Get a grip, losers! Okay, I forgive you. Really, that's all you need to make me forgive you. Pffff... as if you needed more stats, Ward! Valentin's definitely going to heal next turn, so instead of attacking, I have Reese move closer to the fort. There we go. That was a close one, and entirely on me. Phew... I mean, not that losing Kramer would've been such a big issue, but I don't want any more deaths on me. And besides, we'd lose his paralogue. As expected. Oh, well. No problem, I can set up another Overwatch. There we go, the stage is set. Again. "I'm PaRTIcuLArly coNFiDenT iN My aBILiTy tO fIGht AGAinsT aXeMEn!" Well, since she's got nothing better do so, I suppose Christine might as well cancel out Ben's battle cries. Same music as Valentin. Excellent. That is what I like to see! There we go. Now he's back to being not OP. I suppose it could be fun to start working on him, too. Formidable, Axel. To be honest, I'd rather you get hit by this guy for those tasty shield points than the axeman. That guy packs a punch. Izerna, run! Elbert, run up to... do something. It's tempting to try and feed him Zalius, but I really doubt it'll be so simple. Oh, boy...! ...that's another mistake, right there. Oh my goodness, can you stop fucking everything up, you idiots!? Where did Axebane go!? I may be reckless, but you're plain incompetent! I mean, yeah, but that'll be no use to you if you're dead! I'm pretty sure Valentin'll have to head for Axel. Reese is a lot sturdier, and enemies in this game don't have the blind hatred for the lord that FE5 enemies do. As for Faye, well, she's fully healed. I could move Axel first next turn, but I don't want to take even the slightest risk at this point. Next turn's first move will be Ruby healing herself. But first...! Hwahah! Outclassed! ...oh, foo... for a moment I thought he could whack Izerna. All right, first things first. Useless girl... heal up! I was afraid of this. Thankfully, the enemy only has one move, so Axel cannot die. I made very sure of that. If there's one unit I do not want to lose, it's Axel. Yes! YESSSSS! AXEL! Hahahahahahahahaaaah! Mwaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha! Yes! That couldn't have gone any better! You truly are awesome, Axel. Notice that the damage text is not green, by the way. Valentin is not injured. The thing is, all axes have Knock Away by default. A nifty little trait of 'em that has appeared when I needed it the most. And now, since Valentin cannot counterattack, I get to do this. Ben cannot kill Axel in one blow, so this is completely safe. And here I was, setting up these complicated traps and tricks to take this guy down. Turns out, all I needed was Axel. Can I get a crit to really finish him off in style, Reese? Of course, this is Reese we're talking about. He probably doesn't have a head anymore after the pulverization and the crit, but as you know, decapitations are like the F-word in TV: I can only use 'em once per LP. They lose their punch otherwise. I wonder who the lucky fellow will be this time. Cool! Not bad, not bad at all! I would've liked some strength or defense, but that's all right. Izerna's out of Zalius's reach, but I still don't want to risk anything. So she runs. Can we finally kill this guy, folks? Or will I have to send Ward overthere as well? Siiiiiigh... Finally, God! You humongous piece of trash... There you go, Elbert. Not sure what exactly you'll accomplish by being there, but sure, you might as well. When I want her to dodge, she doesn't. When I don't want her to dodge, she does. Oh, she's one of those... With Valentin dead, all that remains is for Ben to fall. Blergh. Oh, he didn't heal because his health isn't halfway gone yet! It's a good thing she missed, then... thanks, Christine! Pathetic! And this is the gang that had been allowed to exist for so long? It's turn 15, and we've all but finished the map. I'll wait till turn 18 to seize, though. Take care of Zalius and all. Piss. At least Zalius attacked first. Not sure what's up with that. Guess Ben works differently since he's the boss. Pathetic. Simply pathetic! Whoa! He doubles Ward! For all the good it did him. Absolutely nothing has been accomplished. C'mon, Reese, can I get yet another crit to wrap this up? D'awwwww... well, it's over, at any rate. I know, this one's pretty terrible... Dead. Just as you. You son of a bitch. You son of a bitch! Reese, we won't see you for another five updates or so! How can you do this!? At any rate, we've won. If the going gets tough, I can seize and get the hell out. Ward nails Zalius once. Hmmmmm... tempting, quite tempting. But if he misses, he'll be in dire straits. In a normal run I'd go ahead and savescum that. In this one? Not worth the risk. You're the only one that remains. Could you please die this turn? Thanks. Finally, they do something right, these two. Pah... pah! Stone arrow got! The reason why I'm going to wait till turn 18 instead of seizing right now this: The game throws stuff at you right up to the very last second. Fuva has treasure, which is this game's vendor trash. Sell it and you'll get 5000 gold. Of course, he also has an inmense health bar for a thief, and these knives. I'm not sure why there's a knife called vespa, considering that's the name of a pretty famous brand of scooters, but all right. Too bad, 'cause I do want trouble. Or, more precisely, I want to use trouble to get to your treasure. This is what happens when someone with strength uses knives. It doesn't look pretty. Can you please die already? This was my attempt at capturing the shield breaking. When a weapon breaks in BWS, the weapon's art (you know, the one that appears when you inspect the weapon) shows up on the screen and shatters after a second. It's a really cool effect, but I'm going to miss it every time because I won't be expecting it. Anyway, yeah. Ward's shield broke. Of course, breaking Ward's shield did not save Zalius from his destiny. All right, that's ours. Now, on to Fuva. Intercept him, Ruby. I'm pretty sure he doesn't try fighting, but we gotta buy time for the others to get there. Never mind, he did attack. ...EAAAAAAAAAARGHHH HE CAN KILL RUBY IF HE CRITS! NOOOOOOOOOOO! That was a nice bit of heart attack. That's it, you're dying next turn. Good work, Fuva. You picked the perfect spot to flee to. Seriously, what were you thinking? Fuva. Pfft. More like fubar, am I right? This is ours! So, now's the time to escape, right? Not quite, for if we wait till turn 18, this happens. Yep, some rando appears as late as chapter 18. We have only one chance to kill him. He's wielding a weapon that's bigger than him and the first bracelet we'll get. You can tell which units can use bracelets by looking to the upper right corner of their statscreen. See the bracelet icon there? By the way, here's a nasty surprise. Yeah. Best be careful around this guy. "Early"? Your entire gang is dead, and you call it "early"? Well, not to worry. We'll put you back to sleep soon enough. Well, that's just perfect. All right, and with that... Either Axel kills him or he misses. Either way, Tarrevan won't get to use Vengeful against us. I knew you could do it, Axel. We've officially conquered the entire map, folks. The entirety of the Neam Gang is dead and buried - nobody appears after turn 18, so you don't have to pick between the tactics points or more treasure. Here's a nifty little thing that I've only discovered just now: if you press select, tiny healthbars appear over the units. Cool! Every day I learn new things about this game. Okay, time to go. Yes, and with this, the Neam Bandits will be all but destroyed. Hopefully, this will please His Majesty. I wish it would, but... Milord? The soldiers must be tired. Ward, gather our forces and order them to return to Navaron. By your command, milord. Indeed, but that'll have to wait till next time. Good thing the game's time is put on hold while I'm not playing, otherwise that'd cost Reese his titles! Anyway, next time, we go back to Volcyboy and rub our victory all over his face. I cannot wait, personally. See you then, and please try to farewell till then! Bye-bye! Death count: -- Capture count: 0 Reset count: 0 Current perfect streak: 4 maps Best perfect streak: 4 maps BONUS: This is what happens if you take too long. At turn 20, this warning appears. And then, at turn 24... I like this little bit of characterization Ward gets in this missable bad ending. This is the game over screen. Simple enough. I must say, I prefered it when Eugen used his superpowers to bring Runan back from the dead.
The Roger The Paladin
6 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: In total, that's Finn, Nanna, Fergus, Karin, Trude, Homer, Ilios and Misha. All lost to Bishop With Bolting. I don't think I've ever had such specific bad luck in my life. Almost like they're tying to take the place of Horsemen in your life. 10 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I still think Organization of the Severely Sick would be more threatening. You could sic 'em on your enemies. Ha! I just want to acknowledge that pun. 11 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Jeez... My favourite memory of a fight was when it was called early because my brother's opponent was out of it, not even blocking, and the other guy's coach organized a rematch insisting it was called too early and his fighter "had a plan". The other fighter never showed up to the rematch. 15 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's... kinda completely off. Whoa. Which was why it was a terrible pun. It takes pronouncing the name completely wrong. 21 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: In Thracia? Pretty sure everyone. Checked. Saphy doesn't. I'd have sworn it were slightly rarer than that... though low movement growth on everyone probably gave me that impression erroneously. 24 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: And he even lived and got sent back to the Empire! His plan was a thorough success. When I think about it, that alone makes him smarter than Martel... assuming they don't execute him the moment he gets back. 26 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Sheesh... man, be extremely careful. Fortunately, still not in one of those 18-ish countries with more than 10,000 cases... so I don't think it's likely to be that bad here. Especially with the curve dropping down as much as it has. Assuming the Government doesn't go full Volcens mode on me and make things worse...it's a matter of not getting it from family members doing shopping. Honestly, I half worry every time I see one of your posts that there'll be bad news (considering the number of cases detected in Spain), but then the whole world's a little crazy right now. 31 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I'd... I'd say the second one is more likely to be confused with alcoholism, actually... That's the joke. I deliberately made it worse, then acted like I was trying to fix it. Kind of like when Volcens gives you shit for trying to do the job he's neglecting but acts like he's being generous giving you a bullshit time-limit. 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I don't need a penny. I need a cent! I'm not 'murican! I've no use for pennies! It doesn't make cents to judge people based off their name. 36 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: While we're talking about Vestaria, can I just say I love that Therenius has a skill called "Imbecile" that just reduces the avoid of everyone around him? The entire game's a riot, but I think that's the funniest thing in it. Martel deserves that skill. As does Disaad. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Your theories get more and more contrived. And you didn't even accomplish anything, this still makes Valery out to be a horrible person! But that's the fun of writing insane theories. I wanted to come up with the dumbest possible explanation for it. Besides, at least the only one he's truly screwing over in the long term this time is Halfmann. Well, and himself. It also makes Sylvis look extra competent... which isn't really a stretch. But most importantly, it's utterly ridiculous. 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Maybe they just liked the new Garon better? Would explain Xander. 53 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: We're giving all of these characters such personalities. A shame none of them are good. Compared to Volcens and Slaver's canonical personalities, even the worst ones we've produced are jaywalkers by comparison. 59 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Because you're a poopnose yourself. Thats rude. I may be forced to summon the OSS 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Holy crap, enough! She went and procced Adept twice! Adepting to the situation. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Then she aims at the air above the brigand, but luckily, her crossbow malfunctions and drops the bolt, which falls on his head. In all seriousness, nah, they just didn't make an animation where she aims down at enemies on the ground when she's on horseback. See, isn't it more fun to come up with stupid explanations for things? 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Erdrick's dad was secretly a brigand the whole time? Well, that explains why his son had to save the world. Assuming male Erdrick... but you know. 4 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Holy shit, another crit! What's with all the crits in this run!? I know I used Sunder, but I still wasn't expecting that to work! That bandit is about to Fayed away. 4 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Why do they keep shooting at Kramer? He has Arrowbane! They saw it work for you, and think they'll get that lucky. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: That's better. You mean "More Reesenable". Gotta Reesepect results like that. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: HAHA! YOU'VE FALLEN FOR MY TRAP IN AMER-- ...he stayed put? He's damned if he does. Damned if he doesn't. May as well stay put and use the forest to his advantage. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: You kiddin' me, Faye? You were handing everybody their asses on silver platters! It's quite the far cry from my first run. In which you died here. It seems she met with a terrible Fayet that run. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: She looks like she's checking her watch! More like checking when she gets to use Overwatch. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Seriously, what the hell is going on?! People, can you please not stop getting crits? I'd love it if this was what the entire LP ended up looking like. She just never Fayels to impress. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: "I'm PaRTIcuLArly coNFiDenT iN My aBILiTy tO fIGht AGAinsT aXeMEn!" Well, the Axemen are a surprisingly formidable team. I mean, WolverDean, CycLot, and Professor AXel. They tend to Wade into battle without much fear. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: And here I was, setting up these complicated traps and tricks to take this guy down. Turns out, all I needed was Axel. Professor Axel got his degree in ass-kicking. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Of course, this is Reese we're talking about. Seems to be his MO. Go in. Get crit. What a seReese of events. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Pathetic! And this is the gang that had been allowed to exist for so long? Well, to be fair, it never was because of their competence. Just Volcens' incompetence. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: You son of a bitch. You son of a bitch! Reese, we won't see you for another five updates or so! How can you do this!? A bit disReesepectful given the crits he's given you. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Anyway, yeah. Ward's shield broke. Go figure. It's actually easier to break this man's shield than to cut his flesh. 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: All right, that's ours. Now, on to Fuva. I'm confused. How is the blood yours when Zalius is clearly the dead one? 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: "Early"? Your entire gang is dead, and you call it "early"? Well the rest of his gang are the ones who are "Late". 5 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I knew you could do it, Axel. I like how he decided he doesn't mind taking a dirt nap. If this guy embodied any of the deadly sins, it's Sloth. Kind of like Volcens is almost certainly pride, being a manchild. Valery, if either of our theories fit, is greed. So, who's gonna be gluttony, envy, wrath, and lust?

BrightBow
13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Vestaria has its own share of fucked up shit. Like, remember that thing in chapter... I think it was 17? The one where Athol's a NPC and she has to enter villages to ask for support. What the hell was that last village's event supposed to accomplish? It didn't go anywhere, either, and it was so creepy! Well, none of those town events are all that pleasant if you fail the turn limit. And they get increasingly more horrid with each town. At least in this case it's very heavily implied that the murderer won't get away. You know, I'm surprised you've even seen it, considering there are no real obstacles between the final two towns. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: While we're talking about Vestaria, can I just say I love that Therenius has a skill called "Imbecile" that just reduces the avoid of everyone around him? The entire game's a riot, but I think that's the funniest thing in it. Yeah, I love details like that. And giving it the skull icon too. Just beautiful. Works pretty well in terms of story too, considering the guy's own character sheet basically says that all his boosting about being a great leader and strategist is a load of bullshit. And consequently so are his accusations against Calliera. Speaking of small details, there is a neat one with Marlena and Beorn. When they are encountered in chapter 18, both of them carry a Ring of Vows. You know, the ring that the game describes as a "symbol of true love". And which they specifically not had back when they first appeared in chapter 5, implying they upgraded their relationship status. ...although Marlena's description does refer to Beorn as her "husband" in both chapters. But maybe the phrasing in Japanese was slightly more ambiguous. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, you are not wrong, Ward. But the ultimatum was the king's own idea. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: - Remember how I once mentioned cliffs reduce personal avoid to 0 if a unit stands on them? Kramer doesn't suffer from that. In fact, if he stands on a cliff and an enemy attacks him at range 0, he'll actually reduce the enemy's avoid to 0 without being affected himself. Definitely his strongest skill, but it's not saying much. Probably would have been better if the skill gave him an actual avoid boost on cliffs instead of just removing the penalty. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: As for you-- oh, son of a... well, no matter. So long as Sylvis is still there, he can't run, and Axel will have another chance next turn. It's a shame that Axel is so inaccurate. Nothing you can about it either, I'd wager. His Axe growth is garbage. Guess he is really supposed to be more of a bulky thief rather then a proper fighter. 13 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Bah. Who cares, this wasn't the important part. You had Christine use Aim while on a horse quite a few times during this update. Why? I mean, there is no reason to be on the horse if you won't actually use the movement. It only risks the horse getting hurt when you get attacked. Edited April 7, 2020 by BrightBow

It makes me wonder if Fire Emblem is better off telling overall simple stories that have a lot of nuance inbetween. He can promote without tactics points, but it's obviously better to get him earlier, and I'm pretty sure you can't permanently recruit a certain unit unless you promote Reese early. For one, she promotes as soon as she's permanently recruited (making it one of the easiest promotions to get in the game), and she gains a pretty kickass skill while at it. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: It's like the knight sword, only it also adds crit and is quite durable. She can fight rather well so long as she has the cutlass. Without it she's rather underwhelming. Kinda surprised to see a cutlass on something other than a pirate, but okay. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: There's this. I understand why Fire Emblem employs this sparingly, given how convoluted certain recruitments are, but it's neat that stronger mooks get names. It both makes the world feel more alive and points out enemies you need to watch out for. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: ...Yeah, we want a different kind of unit to go down there. Surprisingly intense music for a midboss. Not that I'm complaining. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Anyway, what makes Pizarro special, aside from the horse, is that he's packing magical arrows. The worst magical arrows, to be precise. They deal a whopping 1 extra damage. Pfft. The magic effect still looks cool. Makes it seem like the arrow is one of those homemade rockets. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Pffff... w-what!? What the hell's that dodge frame...? It makes it look like the bandit is trying to push away the weapon/character and/or walk away of the fight. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Time to make yourself useful, Izerna. A cool feature is that you get to see how much you're healing on the unit's health bar. See the glowing part? That's how much she's getting healed. How many games in did it take until Fire Emblem did this? On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: I may've sold her a little too short, but I still will bench her forever after we get the real healer. And when he dies, I'll get extremely angry at the world and proceed to have to use her again. Though, we probably could stand to skip that last step. The default healing animation looks pretty cool. And I believe/hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the games magic animations. Also, you should probably use "if", not "when", unless we're having a repeat of Lee. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Stop it already, you'll never win like this! All this dodging makes it look like Kramer is admiring all the different backgrounds of the game. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Oh hey, Graham. Pizarro gets his own face, but this one is reused a couple maps after it first appeared. Whatever you want, Kaga. But a bandit called Maham caught wind that they were valuable, and he stole them from me. Those were all I had, too! That rotten fool... Main level 2 and already we're seeing another case of a reused name from a different game. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Ah, okay, they talk if you wait. Sure, whatever. This is a pretty big dickmove, actually, as these conversations are all extremely important That... is an odd way to handle talking, but okay. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: Well, guess that means I get to explain luck in this game. That is an oddly helpful yet needlessly complicated way of handling luck. Least I can say it's unique. On 4/6/2020 at 8:32 AM, Saint Rubenio said: She looks like she's checking her watch! I'd love it if this was what the entire LP ended up looking like. By the way, at this point in time, I'd like to point out that Faye does not wear pants. Most females in this game dress pretty reasonably, but Kaga just couldn't resist, I suppose. Even then, Faye's dress is better than some of the other examples of pantless fanservice in the series. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Kramer's biggest flaw is that he's outclassed, really. He needs 30 sword skill and 15 personal level to promote, but when he gets there, he merely becomes a worse version of Volo and a unit we'll get in the future. Again, he's kind of outclassed, but he works well enough. Kramer is pretty good if you are not using Volo, and that other unit pretty much outclasses all other infantries and most mounts in this game besides maybe one or two, if you are talking about the same unit I am guessing.. so it's ok. His personal weapon is good, but not having a second round does hurt. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Czene is the opposite of Kramer, in that her biggest strength is perhaps her promotion. Unlike most other units, she has no WpSkill requirement; she merely needs to level up a bunch, trigger a few events, and then she'll promote. And here's the kicker: when she promotes, she gains a horse. That's right, Kaga did horse thieves first. Pretty fun thief to play around with. Czene is a fun and useful unit to have, atleast if you need someone beside Axel, like in the next main map. When I saw she gets horse when promoted I decided to train her, but completely forgot after the 2nd thief joined.. now she is at lv 4, probably not worth the effort anymore. Sure she promotes when permanently recruited, but getting that happiness requirement takes long. I used her so much that the Cutlass broke even before I reached the Chapter 3 main story's boss. And it broke again at green durability after repairing it, so didn't bother with it again. Currently trying to get her to lv 10 by deploying in side missions. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, God... I shouldn't try this. Damnit, I should not try this... if she misses and gets hit, she'll be in mortal peril... but... oh, so tempting... g-gaah... Isn't that pretty much all fights with Czene though, aside from other thieves and archers? On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: He couldn't make it. When you're crippled, you can move further the more HP you have. Low-health cripples will usually be unable to move further than one or two hexes. Yes pretty good mechanic atleast if it isn't your own unit... On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Oh boy, what's this? Is it just me or the screen shows Bottle Cry instead of Battle Cry.. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Oh wow, this one doesn't just have a name, he has his own face! And his own music! This boss theme is most commonly found among minibosses and the like. I personally like this music better than the standard boss music. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Anyway, what makes Pizarro special, aside from the horse, is that he's packing magical arrows. The worst magical arrows, to be precise. They deal a whopping 1 extra damage. Pfft. Still good for chipping down enemy armors and a certain ice lizard that can't be damaged with normal weapons. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Holy shit, another crit! What's with all the crits in this run!? I know I used Sunder, but I still wasn't expecting that to work! Probably a side effect for sacrificing so many units previously. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I may've sold her a little too short, but I still will bench her forever after we get the real healer. And when he dies, I'll get extremely angry at the world and proceed to have to use her again. Though, we probably could stand to skip that last step. Yes, there is really no reason to use her after he joins, and you get another healer during that time too. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: As a reward, I'll have Kramer carry you the rest of the way to the dungeon. I usually let my weaker units do the capturing, like Czene or Izerna, since you get exp from capturing too. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: While Reese cantos ahead, Ward will do something different: He'll head back and go north. Ward will be singlehandedly taking care of the whole upper side of the map. A really tough opponent will appear there, and I want no less than the endgame beard to fend him off. As I learned the hard way last run, even the likes of Dean cannot compare to that bastard. Really? I find him really tough to hit in the forests. I usually lure him towards the cliff using Provoke, then weaken him with Kramer and Ward. Had to do it 3 times due to restarting. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: I cannot stress it enough, I love that these archers are so weak. I dread the moment we start facing tougher ones... Don't worry, they are waiting for you in the next main mission... On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Not so expertly done, Ruben. You missed the damned popup again... Indeed, 'botained'... On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Did you know that Faye is another one of BWS's bad units? Y'know, the girl that's singlehandedly destroying the Neam Bandits? As usual, my LPs just can't be normal. She does perform pretty well in the early levels, her problem is having so low strength, so she can't really fight the high defense enemies in the later chapters. And having 23 HP at lv 9 doesn't help much either. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: ...Oh, blistering barnacles... That's why you give bags to all units... On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Fuva has treasure, which is this game's vendor trash. Sell it and you'll get 5000 gold. I managed to cripple him, and savestate abused to get the cripple again after each restart, those knives are much better than regular daggers. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: Here's a nifty little thing that I've only discovered just now: if you press select, tiny healthbars appear over the units. Cool! Every day I learn new things about this game. That's a pretty cool feature, wish I knew about it earlier. On 4/6/2020 at 6:02 PM, Saint Rubenio said: This is the game over screen. Simple enough. Saint Rubenio
Part 8 - Of criminals and dickheads. Talking: Spoiler On 4/6/2020 at 8:20 PM, The Roger The Paladin said: Almost like they're tying to take the place of Horsemen in your life. Well, they're doing a mighty fine work of it. Getting through 14x with just Eda was kinda hell. Oh yeah, that's another thing. I miscalculated. Thought chapter 14's greens would appear a turn later than they did. Then one of them crit Dean. So far, every single one of the units I've lost died to a crit. Isn't that amazing? I pray all of this bad luck remains in my offscreen Thracia run, and doesn't spill into the Berwick one. Though at least I'm doing better than my friend. The bastard is insane enough to semi-ironman Thracia in his first run. I think the only units he still has left alive are the ones I've lost, hilariously enough. I just want to acknowledge that pun. Hahahaha, I'm rather proud of it myself. My favourite memory of a fight was when it was called early because my brother's opponent was out of it, not even blocking, and the other guy's coach organized a rematch insisting it was called too early and his fighter "had a plan". The other fighter never showed up to the rematch. That... I'll be brutally honest, that sounds like every time I say I've got a plan to save my units. And then everyone dies. Which was why it was a terrible pun. It takes pronouncing the name completely wrong. I could see that! Checked. Saphy doesn't. I'd have sworn it were slightly rarer than that... though low movement growth on everyone probably gave me that impression erroneously. Oh, I thought everybody had movement growths! Didn't think there was one who didn't-- Wait, Saphy? Another name for her!? Where'd you get that one? How many names does that woman have? When I think about it, that alone makes him smarter than Martel... assuming they don't execute him the moment he gets back. It was his plan all along. He knew being disaarmed would make players feel inclined to capture him for the ransom. He's a genius! Fortunately, still not in one of those 18-ish countries with more than 10,000 cases... so I don't think it's likely to be that bad here. Believe me, that's what we said, and now we're one of the world leaders when it comes to the coronavirus. Don't be foolish, please. To be honest, I'm pretty lucky. I live in a small, rural area, and even before the quarantine I had contact with very few people. Also, I'm a reasonably healthy person with no chronic ailments beyond a case of Asperger's Syndrome that's long since been made almost irrelevant by over 10 years of therapy. Fairly certain that doesn't increase the chance of Crownvirus death, anyway. Spain's absolutely going to shit with this virus, but I'm more afraid of the financial crisis that'll follow than the virus itself. Also more worried for my family, a good chunk of my closest family are 50 and above. Heck, my father's over 60 years old. He's also a reckless fool. At least my mother keeps him in check, because if it were up to him, he would've been traveling all over the country right up to the day the quarantine was announced. That's the joke. I deliberately made it worse, then acted like I was trying to fix it. C'mon, there's no need to explain it to me, I got it... I know sarcasm is difficult to read on text, but-- Kind of like when Volcens gives you shit for trying to do the job he's neglecting but acts like he's being generous giving you a bullshit time-limit. Okay, never mind, I'm fine with any excuse to trashtalk Volcens. Carry on. It doesn't make cents to judge people based off their name. Well, it's about all I've got to go on... Martel deserves that skill. As does Disaad. To be fair, Kaga was very clearly messing around with Vestaria, since it was just a little passion project of his. I mean, there's an awesome, brave, kind-as-hell guy with the sweetest daughter who's literally Maerchen in Berwick Saga's artstyle. And Merric if he had Eugen's sass. God, I loved Theodel. I get it, I really do. I just felt like being a dick, I'm sorry. Would explain Xander. I'll have to trust you on that one. Compared to Volcens and Slaver's canonical personalities, even the worst ones we've produced are jaywalkers by comparison. Hahahahahahahahah... Jeez, we're comparing Volcens to the Slaver already? Man, oh man, and we haven't even gotten to his worse offenses... Thats rude. I may be forced to summon the OSS You forget I'm a main Medic in TF2. The Organization of the Severely Sick cannot hurt me! Adepting to the situation. Pffffff... fine. Good one. See, isn't it more fun to come up with stupid explanations for things? I agree wholeheartedly. Erdrick's dad was secretly a brigand the whole time? Well, that explains why his son had to save the world. Assuming male Erdrick... but you know. Who in the world... hold on... Googling Oh, the protagonist of Dragon Quest. Hmm. How curious. That bandit is about to Fayed away. Jikes... such a cruel fate, to be punned to death... They saw it work for you, and think they'll get that lucky. Spoiler alert: they did. Stupid Kramer... You mean "More Reesenable". Gotta Reesepect results like that. All of these puns, and nobody has made a Reese's joke yet. He's damned if he does. Damned if he doesn't. May as well stay put and use the forest to his advantage. That much is true. It seems she met with a terrible Fayet that run. Well, not quite. One of these days I'll explain. More like checking when she gets to use Overwatch. Bwahahahahahah... She just never Fayels to impress. Faye is your next victim, is she? Is there no stopping you? Well, here's a challenge for you: pun Czene. If you can figure out how to pronounce that name, of course. I cannot. Well, the Axemen are a surprisingly formidable team. I mean, WolverDean, CycLot, and Professor AXel. They tend to Wade into battle without much fear. Axe/10 would axe again. Professor Axel got his degree in ass-kicking. He's going to be kicking a lot of arse all right. Assuming I don't lose him... Seems to be his MO. Go in. Get crit. What a seReese of events. Reese is a loose cannon. Well, to be fair, it never was because of their competence. Just Volcens' incompetence I love how everyone's embracing the Volcens hatred. And we haven't even gotten started with him. A bit disReesepectful given the crits he's given you. Hey, I wasn't calling him a son of a bitch, more like just... generally swearing. Go figure. It's actually easier to break this man's shield than to cut his flesh. Oh yeah, his shields are more brittle than he is. I'm confused. How is the blood yours when Zalius is clearly the dead one? Oh-- Hahahah, you bastard, it took me a moment to get that one... hwahahah! Well the rest of his gang are the ones who are "Late". I mean, technically speaking, but... Volcens fits pride like a glove, yes. Valery's greed. Padolf could also be sloth, since all he does is agree with Volcens and Herman so he doesn't have to do anything by himself. There's a certain character that's just perfect for lust. Another one would make a great envy, and I know exactly who wrath would be. So that just leaves gluttony. That one I'm not so sure about. If I remember, I'll point out who these characters are when we meet them. On 4/7/2020 at 12:23 AM, Pengaius said: Hate you too, best buddy! Hahahaha, there we go. Effort, but I did manage to get rid of a 2 meg picture of a sledgehammer. Why must you be so stubborn? Would you rather I become a Volcens, stan? Arkis, may not be “good" but he vibes well, which I cannot say for any of the characters from Berwick so far. I like how even you don't have the gall to become a Volcens stan. I'm almost tempted to challenge you to become one, just to watch you struggle to defend him through his more egregious fuck-ups. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as "good vibes" to you, so I suppose I'll just have to wait for you to find your own favourite character. So that I may not use them. Good uppy, cute thief girl, no good vibes as of yet. What the hell is an uppy? And Czene is, like, the most popular waifu in this game. Hah! You're a normie! On 4/7/2020 at 3:41 AM, BrightBow said: Well, none of those town events are all that pleasant if you fail the turn limit. And they get increasingly more horrid with each town. At least in this case it's very heavily implied that the murderer won't get away. You know, I'm surprised you've even seen it, considering there are no real obstacles between the final two towns. Wait, what? You can prevent the beheading!? It's true that I blocked Athol's path so she wouldn't end the map before I could rescue Merida, but since I was given no warnings or anything, I figured there was no way to stop that from happening... Well, guess I've got a goal to work for when I replay the game. Yeah, I love details like that. And giving it the skull icon too. Just beautiful. Works pretty well in terms of story too, considering the guy's own character sheet basically says that all his boosting about being a great leader and strategist is a load of bullshit. And consequently so are his accusations against Calliera. The game's writing is top notch, honestly. Really, the only thing that grinds my gears about it is the thousand cliffhangers the game ended on. The chance of the sequels being localized is just about zero, so I'll never get any resolution on any of that. ...also, maybe it's just me, but Siegfried rejecting Hilda was the most unsatisfying, frustrating ending since Canas's bullshit death. My two favourite characters... Oh wow, I hadn't noticed that. That's pretty damn amazing! Hah! I mean, you are not wrong, Ward. But the ultimatum was the king's own idea. He probably was up all night putting his tiny brain to work to come up with that idea. And then spent all morning patting himself in the back for it. Probably would have been better if the skill gave him an actual avoid boost on cliffs instead of just removing the penalty. Yeah, as it is, it's just not that great. Kramer in general can be described as such, I feel. He works, but then you compare him to the other sword-and-blade mercs in the game, and he's just... bleh. It's a shame that Axel is so inaccurate. Nothing you can about it either, I'd wager. His Axe growth is garbage. Guess he is really supposed to be more of a bulky thief rather then a proper fighter. I've never had much of a problem with him. He's unreliable, but he has so much utility in other areas that it's easy to forgive him for it. Plus, you can give him the more accurate axes. With a battle saw he's way better than you'd imagine at first glance. You had Christine use Aim while on a horse quite a few times during this update. Why? I mean, there is no reason to be on the horse if you won't actually use the movement. It only risks the horse getting hurt when you get attacked. In my defense, you can canto away after aiming if you're on a horse. No such luck on foot. ...that being said, I lack the reflex to dismount to avoid horse damage most of the time. Expect a lot of my horses to perish due to that. On 4/7/2020 at 6:35 AM, The Roger The Paladin said: Yeah, but in fairness, it doesn't need to be stated Volcens is an asshole. The advisors are more subtle. I mean, to the difference of yelling at you as compared to yelling at you with a megaphone from two feet away, in that they're still obvious... just not Volcens level obvious. I mean, the only way Volcens could've made his distaste for Reese any more obvious is if he challenged him to a duel to the death. And he doesn't do it only because he knows he'd lose. Even if he somehow managed to get the upper hand against Reese, Ward's right there! On 4/7/2020 at 6:55 AM, eclipse said: "Running the hell away from our duty? Nah, my duty's right here, Reese!" That's Ward for ya. He knows his beard is unbeatable, so there's no reason for him to run away. 10 hours ago, Hawkwing said: Given that pre-slime Garon outright said "That wasn't even my best trap", I wouldn't be surprised if Hoshido only saw him at his worse, so they never noticed the change. Everyone else though... yeah I can only assume that everyone else was too afraid to question seriously his authority without risking their neck. Now I'm imagining Garon sending an army of traps (as in, you know, the anime trope) after the Hoshidians. We are in for one heck of a roller coaster, aren't we? Hahahahahahah... believe me, we aren't even close to reaching peak Volcens. Huh, interesting. Wonder if it was easier to program it in that way. Probably so. Also, I can't get the mental picture out of my head now of Axel just jumping into lava and swimming in it like nobodies business That's Axel for you. A badass. Well, that didn't take long. Stupid Arkis, always getting in the way... It took me a second reading to notice "elecrit", and I got some curious looks with how loud I laughed. Hahah, I'm glad. We're in for quite a show with that guy, aren't we? For better or worse, yes. The game is set is a snowy wasteland, and while not everyone wears gear appropriate for the weather, a fair amount do. I see. The game also may or may not be set after World War 3, but that's based on me google translating the little information I could find about the other games in the series which never got English releases which makes me sad because I really like the lore 😞. Ah yes, the pain. I know it all too well. It's probably the most common typo I make, honestly. Don't sweat it, it's a pretty easy one to make. I actually had a dream last night about how I was supposed to attend a wedding in ten minutes but accidentally I left my tuxedo at home, which also took ten minutes to get to. It's telling that I had more fun calculating how fast I would have to go to make it home and back in time, going 91 miles per hour, stunt driving around farm combines, and putting on a tuxedo while driving back than actually attending a wedding. You've got some interesting dreams. Meanwhile I dreamt about checking my Serenes notifications, being disappointed that nobody had replied to the thread, and then I woke up and realized I hadn't checked my Serenes notifications yet. It's fine. Sucks that I won't have work until this is all resolved, but as I said, I was prepared to get news of that any day now. Hang in there, pal. It's a nickname. Just like Ferb is short for Ferbs. Right, of course. Volcen is short for Volcens. I must say, I still prefer Volcyboy. Or Dumbass. It depends on the technicalities (which sounds like the name of a song for classic musical), but yeah, they're both screwed up to the point it makes me wonder whether or not the developers added it in as a joke more than anything. An extremely... let's say strange joke. But is it on the level of TRS's dancer? 'Cause that was another hilarious joke in its own right. Eh, I've been spoiled enough for previous works that all this speaking broadly about future events hardly phases me. It's how these scenes play out that I care most about anyway. Be careful still, damnit. I need your bloothirst unsated when we get to some of the most interesting parts of this game. Fair point. Is there even such a thing as a universally hated FE? I'd say the closest it gets is Birthright, and FE1 is widely considered to be inferior to 11 in every way and not worth playing nowadays, but still... At least I'm aiming to actually complete these games. I've been burnt out in the past by starting games and never ending up completing them due to life getting in the way that I've resolved to change that now that my life is (perhaps ironically) less chaotic. I hope you are able to accomplish your goal. Of the portraits, which I thought was a reason you gave some of the names (besides as a joke). Ah, well, I just name them if I feel like making jokes. To be honest, I think I was too kind to Volcyboy. I mean, heck, remember Tatus's portrait name? That's the kind of name Volcyboy should've gotten. IS also got ambitious with Radiant Dawn and Fates and bit off more than they could chew there as well. It makes me wonder if Fire Emblem is better off telling overall simple stories that have a lot of nuance inbetween. Frankly, if there's a lesson to learn from Three Houses, it's that linearity isn't always such a bad thing. I'll take one good, well-polished route over four rushed messes, thank you very much. Also, I like when people claim that the game's four routes give it oh-so-much more replayability than the rest of the series. It's really no more replayability than, say, FE5 and its route split. Sure, FE5 is always the same until you get to the route split, but so is Three Houses, considering the first half of the game is exactly the same, and half the second half is reused throughout all the routes. That being said, I do appreciate the attempt at shaking things up. Better to try something new and fail than remain stagnant. Also, I did like the paralogues. Chapters that focus on certain characters are always awesome, and they were some of Three Houses's best and most imaginative maps, too. Right. For some reason I keep thinking it is a pawn shop. Guess Halfmann sucks at his job so much he gives off that impression? That's Halfmann for ya, yes. I would say technically Evil(-ish) Church #3, given that the Duma Faithful was originally the main religion of Rigel before devolving into a cult, but that also didn't start off as evil, so... I can't remember if it was already a church in the original, though. Echoes added a lot of things, Gaiden was really held back by the hardware. It's probably why TRS is so similar to it, Kaga wanted to make Gaiden again in sturdier hardware. It's why Eugen wasn't in Gaiden - the NES couldn't handle his awesomeness. Being fun is the main requirement for a Saint Rubenio Let's Play to allow the use a broken unit, it seems. What can I say. I'm a man of flexible principles. Sometimes the best way to learn how something works is to discover how it doesn't work. I suppose you've got a point. It is a weird game, to be fair. I can see that. Especially since she's a mage's mage and every class she can become either uses magic, staves, or both. Very mage. I see. That's the impression I was getting from the game, honestly. I glean. I really do. Oh, well... not much to be done about that right now. Yeah, there are some ideas I had as a 15-year old that I wouldn't dare use today. Considering how much Blazer seems to hate TLP nowadays, I think he'd agree. Either that, or it was the inmense amounts of bullying he suffered when he still was a part of the FE hacking community. That seems to go for a lot of people. Kinda reminds me of how Battle of Wesnoth's writing quality ranges due to being open source. Some campaigns are surprisingly well written, while others are more "look, the story is just an excuse to fight on this level. Can you focus on the gameplay, please?" That's always the best kind of story. Hard to think that was a little over a year ago. Only two years since I started LPing... hoo, boy. How things have changed. FE12 is such an awful mess compared to the ones that came after it... whenever I go back to that one I find myself thinking "Ruben, my dude, what the hell kinda joke were you trying to tell here!?" far too often. Though, the horseman nonsense is still gold. I... see... No you don't, but that's fine. He may be an idiot, but he has some good fashion sense. As a map sprite, anyway. That's for sure. We'll find somebody else with the same sprite soon enough. It fits him better, I'd say. Already I see how this games mercenary system can simultaneously be a pro and a con. More of a pro, in my opinion, but I suppose I am heavily biased. Excellent points. All of my points are good. Dammit. At the very least, Clifford's abilities make sense given his backstory. Could have been worse. Yeah, that much is true. It's not like he's OP for no reason. And, believe me, he really is OP. We'll see next chapter. Dang. Must have been fun to search through them all. It was, but I've got my ideal setup now. I see. Dillon's Rolling Western came to mind since that game also has requests (like letting a certain tower defeat X enemies or destroying an enemy without taking damage or finding a resource and so on) but you loose some money if you accept and fail to meet them. I see. Well, we don't really lose much other than the rewards here. Though, of course, the rewards are so good in this game. And participating in a war for personal profit is a rather wicked occupation. That... much is true. You just have to take a picture of their corpse to confirm the target is dead, which thanks to being a T rated game, means you don't have to worry about explosions reducing someone to a pile of gore. Ain't that something. Hah! Well, it was a joke I thought of in the middle of writing, and decided "why not"? I'll have to actually see Volo's personality before I make any judgements. If you see it. Which you might not. There are a lot of characters I'd like to use, and Volo's not it. That would make for a good game/movie in and of itself. Eugen v Volcens: Dawn of Badass Was there any practical purpose for the destruction of the bridges, out of question? Besides making the level longer? The bandits probably didn't want to let anyone get to their lair so easily. That's a pretty good attitude to have, considering what's on the line. Ward always has good attitude, unless you call him old. Then he reacts even worse than Eugen. Maybe it's because Valentin is the first bounty? That's literally the only reason I can think of for why he would have an entry. Still, over so many other characters? And why is he called Harrington there? Harrington and Valentin are... kinda completely different. Hahahahahahaha... hahahaha... haha... hah... I'm largely neutral on Faye, but I have no idea why, of all the personalities they could have chosen, they picked "obsessed with the main character". Especially when Clair fulfilled the "unrequited crush" role and still had more to her character than that. She wasn't as grating as I thought she'd be when I played, but still... not my favorite character. Really, none of the starting villagers were my favorites. Why do you consider her "Female Ike", out of question? I cannot explain that just yet, but not to worry. As soon as chapter 3, all will become clear. That's... actually a pretty interesting way of handling the tactics rating. Are there any other benefits than Reese's promotion? Believe me, when you see the unit that is recruited by Reese's promotion, you'll understand that there's no need for anything more. ...How bad is Obfuscation in practice? It sounds like a skill I would utterly hate. It's... not used very often, actually, and you can guess the inventory of most of its users. Isn't she the one that showcased the awesome Astra animation as well? Indeed, that's the great skill she gets when she promotes. More on that in the future, hopefully. Kinda surprised to see a cutlass on something other than a pirate, but okay. Well, she's a lass, and she cuts people, so... cutlass! I understand why Fire Emblem employs this sparingly, given how convoluted certain recruitments are, but it's neat that stronger mooks get names. It both makes the world feel more alive and points out enemies you need to watch out for. Indeed, I like it also. I looked it up, and a Francisca is an actual type of throwing axe. Really? Huh. 5 points to Kaga for realism. Unless this is like TRS, where the legendary swords were literally just "Holy Sword of X country" until Aethin decided to give them names that aren't profoundly forgettable. Surprisingly intense music for a midboss. Not that I'm complaining. Yeah, it somehow feels more intense than the big boss music. The magic effect still looks cool. Makes it seem like the arrow is one of those homemade rockets. Hahah, right. It makes it look like the bandit is trying to push away the weapon/character and/or walk away of the fight. I... was talking about Czene's dodge animation. You know, this? On 4/6/2020 at 2:32 PM, Saint Rubenio said: How many games in did it take until Fire Emblem did this? I think you could see how much health you were healing in DSFE. I think. In other words, Kaga Did It First. The default healing animation looks pretty cool. And I believe/hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the games magic animations. Heheh, well, you know that video I've shared a thousand times? Yeah... Also, you should probably use "if", not "when", unless we're having a repeat of Lee. I'd love to use "if", but I cannot be sure. That man is really frail... All this dodging makes it look like Kramer is admiring all the different backgrounds of the game. Hah, right you are. They're worth admiring, at any rate. Main level 2 and already we're seeing another case of a reused name from a different game. One of Kaga's games, to add insult to injury! That... is an odd way to handle talking, but okay. I don't get it either. Not a bad drawing of a horse, although it it missing its ears. ...damnit! So there's no Skyrim Horses then? Not even later on in the game? Nnnnnnnnnope. It looks like the bandit became Mister Fantastic or Plastic Man for a second. For all the good it did him. One of the many reasons these are so enjoyable to watch is stuff like this tends to happen. Hah, of course. If nothing else, we can count on my weird-ass luck to make things interesting. It looks like he's stretching while admiring the mountain, like he's been doing for most of this chapter. He probably practices yoga in his free time, the madlad. What happens if you do lose, then? The unit is left with 1 HP, you lose the experience from defeating the enemy, and sometimes you lose the reward, but not always. It's weird. Ouch. Yeah, getting an axe in your forehead is not how I imagine most people would expect to die for stealing plants. The kids needed them. That totally justifies everything. I feel kinda bad that this guy lost his eye and life while hiding in his house. Though there wasn't much to get around that. Ergh, hate to break it to ya, but he was called "trespasser". Fairly certain that was not his house. Hahahahaha man that is some endgame goodness and story karma. The endgame beard never disappoints. Guess that's a reason he has a name. Probably so, yes. You haven't lost your touch with these side story sequences, I see. Heheh, thanks a lot. That is an oddly helpful yet needlessly complicated way of handling luck. Least I can say it's unique. This is Kaga we're talking about. He's the master of the overly complicated mechanics most people won't even notice. Aye, so it does. Even then, Faye's dress is better than some of the other examples of pantless fanservice in the series. It's closer to Lyn than anything else. I guess it... could be worse. Kramer is still distracted by the gorgeous backgrounds, it seems. It nearly cost him his life, too... Huh, interesting quirk to give to an axe, though I suppose it helps differentiate them further from Fire Emblem. I guess the explanation is that they're heavy and burly. Either way, I like it, it's a nice touch. Yeow Nice You in a nutshel. Further proof of Volcens incompetence and how we wouldn't have needed to deal with this problem if had sent some soldiers to deal with it earlier. That would've been awfully inconvenient. Maybe he would've had to move from the throne room! I'll imagine his guts are hanging out of his torso by a thread with this one. That's definitely the face of someone who just got disemboweled, at any rate. Ow, though I doubt Ward would leave something other than a bloody mess behind given his strength. Yes, that would be difficult to draw, sadly. This is an odd idea for a joke enemy (in dialogue, anyway) but I'm not complaining. Though I wonder how often something like this will happen in this game. There are a few oddball enemies. This one's the first. Oddly tragic death quote, I must say. I have to agree, that is a nice way to soften the blow and give Ward more character. It may be game over, but Herman'll have to go through Ward to execute Reese. Hah, as if! 2 hours ago, ranger016 said: Did you ever bring no healers on a main mission before? I don't think I would be able to finish even this map without healing. Especially since Vulneraries are one time use items here. Not main missions, but I've gone to some of the easier sidequests without healing. A vulnerary for everyone is plenty most of the time, I feel. Haha, love this new characterization of Valery, makes him much less forgettable. Thanks. It... kinda happened. Like a lot of stuff in my LPs. I always thought it is the ring requested in one of the civilian requests. That makes sense. Weird that Savat didn't mention somebody else was looking for it to Elbert, but it's a decent explanation. Looks like I am in trouble now, I knew about the ranking thanks to the wiki but didn't bother with it earlier and currently at chapter 9. If my calculations are correct then I need to get full 3 points from this chapter, otherwise I won't be able to recruit that unit... Chapter 9, eh? You gotta keep all the greens alive there. Best of luck. Kramer is pretty good if you are not using Volo, and that other unit pretty much outclasses all other infantries and most mounts in this game besides maybe one or two, if you are talking about the same unit I am guessing.. so it's ok. Guess he's lucky I don't dig edgelords, then. His personal weapon is good, but not having a second round does hurt. It is fine, but there are better ones, sadly. Czene is a fun and useful unit to have, atleast if you need someone beside Axel, like in the next main map. When I saw she gets horse when promoted I decided to train her, but completely forgot after the 2nd thief joined.. now she is at lv 4, probably not worth the effort anymore. Probably not. I'll see if I can pull it off. Faye is pretty good with her Cutlass, though she becomes useless the moment it breaks. I hope I have better luck with the durability. Isn't that pretty much all fights with Czene though, aside from other thieves and archers? Good point. Yes pretty good mechanic atleast if it isn't your own unit... That goes without saying. Is it just me or the screen shows Bottle Cry instead of Battle Cry.. Ahahah, yeah... the old font. Aethin's been working on changing that "a", though he missed a few spots. I personally like this music better than the standard boss music. I can understand that. Still good for chipping down enemy armors and a certain ice lizard that can't be damaged with normal weapons. That much is true. Probably a side effect for sacrificing so many units previously. Ah, yes. Three LPs worth of death have finally paid off. I... I guess. How many bodies have we piled so far? I've long since lost count... Yes, there is really no reason to use her after he joins, and you get another healer during that time too. A shame. I usually let my weaker units do the capturing, like Czene or Izerna, since you get exp from capturing too. Probably should've let Czene have that one, to be honest, but it's fine. She'll have other chances. Really? I find him really tough to hit in the forests. I usually lure him towards the cliff using Provoke, then weaken him with Kramer and Ward. Had to do it 3 times due to restarting. Yes, that's the smart way to do it. But the smart way is not the Saint Rubenio way, is it? Don't worry, they are waiting for you in the next main mission... Damn it...! Indeed, 'botained'... Botained is a totally legit word, c'mon. She does perform pretty well in the early levels, her problem is having so low strength, so she can't really fight the high defense enemies in the later chapters. And having 23 HP at lv 9 doesn't help much either. Yeah, that's the problem. That's why you give bags to all units... If only I had bags for all units. Though, given Axel's skills, it's a good idea to give him one even if you have to take it off someone else. Which I didn't do because I'm dumb. I managed to cripple him, and savestate abused to get the cripple again after each restart, those knives are much better than regular daggers. They are, yes. That's a pretty cool feature, wish I knew about it earlier. So do I. Well, not everyone can be Eugen. Sadly... if a lot of people were like Eugen, the world would be a better place to live. Talking to myself: Spoiler Last time, we beat up brigands. Today, we kneel before somebody worse than a brigand. I wish we could beat him up, too. Yes, Your Majesty. And I bring good tidings of my overwhelming victory. Do not presume to boast before His Royal Majesty, Lord Reese. Any servant of the crown would be able to do at least that much! Is that so? Perhaps we should have left the task to you, Minister Padolf. Hah! I didn't think you had this kind of sass in you, Reese. Then again, blond Waluigi overthere is such an easy target... You insolent--! You have done my people a great service, Lord Reese. Return home and rest now. Yes, Your Grace. Reese rises so he may leave. Or not. Pfffhahahaha... I like how he has to kneel again. You can just see the exasperation in the four pixels that make up his face. These bandits surely had a stockpile of stolen goods and treasure, yes? You will render it to His Majesty. I'm afraid there was nothing of the sort at the hideout. Yeah, not at the hideout, at any rate. Ward, hide Fuva's treasure in your beard, quick! They'll never think to look there! Right away! That cannot be. Know that speaking lies before His Majesty is a capital offense! Is he trying to make Volcens suspicious of us? 'Cause... it's probably going to work, him being as stupid as he is... Believe what you will, Lord Herman. I speak only the truth. That's quite enough! Lord Reese, return to your dwelling at once. Please... ...Yes, Your Grace... About time you got the message, Reese. You handled Padolf stupendously, but how could you fall for Herman's bait like that? Back at the West House, are we finally going to get our awesome horses back? We picked one up from Pizarro, but we didn't have one, we had seven. Notice the attention to detail, by the way: he was the only one with a horse among the Neam Bandits, and it was one of ours. Ah, excellent! It seems Lady Tianna was correct that it was the Neam Bandits who were responsible. Ward, what are you talking about? We just got rid of the Neam Bandits, and they didn't have our horses. A report just came in that a group of stragglers still remains, though they are few in number. Permission granted. For as long as our soldiers don't have their horses, we're at a disadvantage. If there's even a slim chance that we could get our own horses back, I want to take it. Roger that, milord. I'll send out a party at once. For some reason, the next scene features Ward out on the street. I thought the entire army resided in the West House? Is he going to fetch Elbert at the pub, or what? It's you! The girl whose name I cannot pronounce! Can I help you, young lady? You're friends with that rich blond guy I met earlier, right, old-timer? Old-timer?! I'll have you know-- Oh, you're that girl we came across during the battle... Pffffhwahahahahah... I like how he was angry for about two seconds, and then completely forgot about it as soon as he recognized her. If this was Eugen, she wouldn't know the end of it. Then again, maybe he would also have forgiven her, just so he could start hitting on her. And conscript her afterwards. Good, you do remember me! I'm Czene. I see. Well then, Miss Czene, is there some reason you've sought me out? My friends and I found something pretty interesting in the caves earlier! But it's a secret~ Ahahahahahahah... Ward's got no sense of humor, but who's going to fault him for it? He's the endgame beard! Geez, you're no fun at all! You guys were just talking about how your horses had been stolen, right? ...how the hell do you know that? Quote Oh, she was hiding under the table. How didn't I notice that before? Well, I think we found them. They were in that cave. What?! Is this true? 'Course it's true! Would a cute face like this really lie to you? I'm so glad Kaga decided to let Ward be the second protagonist. Can you imagine how boring these scenes would be with Reese? They were locked behind these big iron bars. It won't be easy getting them out of there. Then we'll just have to find the remaining bandits and take the keys from them by force. Sure, you COULD do that... But what if you can't find them? Or what if they've ditched them? No, no, it'd be way more reliable to bring someone who knows her way around all sorts of locks! Plus, you seem like a fun crowd. I bet I'll make a fortune working with you and blondie. We won't be going there to play, you know. We'll be fighting murderers out there. Yeah, YOU will be. Not me. Ohohohoho, oh, no. Believe you me, if I want to use you, I'll have to make you murder tons of people. That experience isn't going to get itself into your pocket. Even then, I can take care of myself if it comes down to it. Very well, you may come. But only this once. Ahahahahahahahahah! Friggin' Ward, man! What about her even made you come to that conclusion? The fact that she called you "old-timer"? Great! I'll get my things! Pleasure doing business with you. It's worth noting that we aren't actually paying any cash for her. At the very least, this mission's a freebie from her. Beyond that, we'll see. Whenever you obtain a horse in a mission, it is automatically sent to the stables. No, you don't have to pay again for it, Carmal just keeps it safe for you until you retrieve it. We've got three blue events! These ones usually appear when you succeed in completing a citizen request. We fulfilled all three, so we'll be getting all the rewards. Good news, Savat! I think I found your ring! You what?! Well, I'll be! That's it! Just as I thought, one of those bandits had gotten his grubby mitts on it. Holy mackerel... I can't believe you really did it! That's a hell of a thing you did... Nah, I didn't do anything special. Besides, those bandits didn't deserve to have a ring like that. It's worth a hell of a lot more to you than it was to them, isn't that right? Hah, that's very true. I owe you big time, my friend. Are you sure? This looks really fancy... Sure, go ahead! It's worth nothing compared to being able to see my wife's ring again. All right, then. Thanks, Savat! The killing edge is not the best sword in the game, but for the first citizen request, it's a pretty good reward. It'll last us more than a couple of chapters, I bet. All right, Valery. One more chance. Will you dare to lie to Ward's face as you did to Reese's? Nice work. I know a lot of people will be able to sleep easier knowing he's dead. As promised, the reward will be 3000D for taking him down. I'll just verify that it's him, and we'll get your money to you straightaway. Kickass! We actually have 4000D now. The problem is that the popup appears, and then the money is added to our total after it goes away, so there's no "good" way for me to show it. All right, and with that-- Huh?! Where'd all these come from...? Oh, yeah! As it turns out, I misremembered: the 17 extra posters don't appear next month, they appear as soon as we return with Valentin's corpse. What the hell!? Are you trying to tell me that people have put up 17 hits on 17 different assholes in the, what, 24 hours that've passed in-universe since we took up the job on Valentin? And I'm supposed to buy that? What are you even hoping to accomplish anymore, Valery?! Valeryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...! Sigh... Well, anyway. We'll encounter each of these mofos in future missions, and almost all of them are optional. Some are quite easy to kill, while others will require some more thought. Also, one of them is not like the others. See if you can find the one that stands out. No, it's not the one that shares his name with a female playable unit from the last game. That one's just Kaga being too lazy to use ctr+f on his list of past characters. Lastly, let us get Maria her weeds. Insert Dimitri joke here. Yes! That's pajuta grass! And it's so very much... Thank you, Lady Tianna! Think nothing of it. I'm simply glad to know that you will be able to make medicines again. I'll do my very best. Please thank Lord Reese for me as well, if you would. Of course. I will pass on your gratitude. I wish I could give you something as thanks for all you've done... There's no need for that. It's our duty as fellow neighbors to help one another, is it not? It has a wide variety of uses in potions and medicinal remedies. Are you sure? Don't you need this to make medicines for your patients? It's quite all right. The bundle you brought me should be enough to last at least a month. Ah, I'm relieved to hear it. Then I'll take your gift gladly. Now, if you'll excuse me, milady, I must get to work making medicine from these herbs. If there's anything we can ever do for you, please don't hesitate to ask! All right, a material! Cool. With that done, it's time for everybody's second-favorite character, after Volcens. I couldn't think of any way to explain this, so I decided to show it. However, the gif was too big for imgbox, so this is the best I can do. Suffice to say, good animations. It doesn't take very long before he runs into trouble. ...... What, ain't you got anything to say to me? Huh? Whoa, whoa, whoa! There's no need to get violent! And he's down, just like that. Welp. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how much you hold the Ruby slap against him), Ward just happened to pass by. Butt out, 'less you wanna get a black eye, too! If I were you, I would show a bit more respect to someone with a sword at their hip. He actually begins to draw his sword here, as a sound effect plays. He'd probably win this fight even bare-handed, but I imagine Ward's the type of person that'd rather scare off the scalawag and avoid violence altogether. ...Tch, I'm outta here! It worked. Come on, let's get you on your feet again... Augh, you reek of liquor...! ...Zzzz... zzz... Brilliant. He fell asleep, just like that. I bet he's an awful unit, if he's playable at all that is! What am I to do about this man? Where should I bring him...? Is he an acquaintance of yours? No, not exactly. I've seen him around, though. He's always drinking away at Alex's tavern down the road. Apparently, he's a knight. The tavern, you say? Well, I don't want to simply leave him out in the street like this... Sorry, but would you mind helping me carry him back there? Sure, no problem. I was just headed there anyway. You know, I'm not entirely sure bringing this guy back to the tavern (the place where he no doubt was coming from) is the most sensible plan. ...considering he's failing to walk, though, I don't think he's going to be able to bring a mug to his mouth. Oh, Clifford... Collapsed on the street again, did he? You know this man well, bartender? Know him? He practically lives here. Miserable sot, isn't he? To think, he used to be a knight! Used to be? Which king, though? 'Cause I don't think it's saying much if he was one of Volcens's men. Obviously, he's seen better days... How does he pay for his drinks, if he is no longer a knight? On the rare occasions that he's sober, he works as a mercenary. A darn good one, too. Intriguing... They say he was one of the best knights in the kingdom, back before he became a drunken mess. If you ever want to hire him, let me know, and I'll try to sober him up. So yeah, Clifford's a mercenary. We won't get to use him just yet, though. He starts being hireable at the start of chapter 3. Perhaps I will... Thank you for the information. I cannot understand how Ward's in any way impressed by this sad display, though. I mean, the guy got beaten by some rando who ran from Ward at the first sign of some steel. How good can he be? All right, with all that taken care of, it's everyone's favorite time: preparations time! First off, let's stop by the stables and make sure that our recovered horse has safely found its way there. Quite convenient. We won't pick up our horse just yet, because the next map is entirely indoors. Anyway, it's time to find somebody to give all of these fancy trinkets to. ... Here you go, sweetie. I hope you find somethin' you like among all that treasure! Right? Right. ...... Halfmann! Here, have the shittiest-- I mean, choicest arrows I could find in my pocket. Aight, thanks for the free cash, suck-- I mean, intelligent person! Bye~! ...... A kid's better at your job than you~ A kid's better at your job than you~ Heehee, yeah! Kids are better at your job than you~ ...I hate my life... Hey there, Halfmann! How's it goin', man? You know, my offer still stands! I can send my pals to have a friendly little chat with that tactician of Sinon's. Tell him why it's not smart to make a fool of a loan shark. You just have to, y'know... give me the proper incentive? ...first, I prefer "pawn broker". Second, that's not how I work. You got it? Hmph. We shall see, Halfmann... Oki-dokie, it's time for some meals. What's on the menu today? The daily special's literally just a red pepper. Hilariously enough, Axel and Elbert both love it. I let Axel have some. It's not much happiness, but I thought it was funny. It grants him a faster recovery from sleep and berserk. A shame we won't face either in this chapter. L stands for Large, these misc food effects can be that or S (Small). For Ruby, the first dish. To be honest, I probably could've kicked out one of the spearmen for Arthur, but oh well, nothing to be done about it now, I already saved. This dish grants her a whopping 10 base HP, increased healing from all sources, and passive healing every turn. Not bad! For Sylvis, the second-best dish. Crit and hit! Awesome! I think more of our units will be having that. They were neutral about it, but that only lowered the crit, not the hit, which is what I wanted. Back at the guild, we've got two new mercs. Does 400D sound acceptable to you? Yeah, fair enough. I will do my best to make my sword useful to you. Ehhhhhh nah. Not this time. Tsk, can't you see brilliance when it stands before you? ...you know what? Just for that, I'm taking the spoils of the last battle. Wha-- No, you can't! Hand that bag over. C'mon. But it's mine! I captured that guy, I get to keep the bag! Have you any idea what bags go for these days!? C'mon, man, have a heart. Nope. It's Axel's now. Go on, give it up. ...or what? I'm the one with the sword! What're ya gonna do, huh? I'm the one in control! I am the player, damnit! You must obey me! Please, man, do what he says... I don't care much 'bout the bag, myself, but this guy's a real nutcase... Hmph... all right. But I expect to be hired regularly for this! ....... All right, Valery. Can I finally trust you to show me all the bounties there are? Every one of these men is an infamous, cold-blooded killer. He shows you the bounty board after that. I just wonder if they really are all like that, or rather just people who stopped paying the fee... Talking to Routh gets us some trivia about the guild. To mercenaries, it's just a job, but I think it's important not to forget what the money's really for. You mean the same money half of which you guys pocket? Then again, perhaps Routh doesn't know about that. Perhaps some of it just happens to get lost in the "People -> Routh -> Valery -> Bounty Hunters" chain. Isn't that right, Valery? The bounty on these people's heads is roughly proportional to how many people they've killed. In times like these, it's not unheard of for farmers whose fields were burned to turn to thieving... But those aren't the kind of guys who get put up on our board. These men are all murdering freaks. No need to show them any mercy. I mean, that's real nice... assuming he's being honest. Well-to-do families, merchants who've needed our help, and even general citizens all pitch in. I'm real grateful for their help, but deep down... One day, I hope the time comes that people don't need a guild anymore. Eyyy, that's pretty nice! If he's being honest, that is. But it's more than what Valery's said so far. Mercenaries are always coming in and out of here looking for bounties. Plus, if they feel they need some extra help on a job, all they need to do is call out to someone here. But when your loyalty relies on who's paying, things can get rough. Someone can be your friend one day and your enemy the next. That's just how it is. That's... ominous. I hope the Raze Empire never hires Sylvis. I would not have the heart... All right, it's almost over. Faye looted this bow off of a generic last time. It's decent, better than the other ones we have, that's for sure. Sadly, guess who's the only person who can use it? Yeah. Exactly. As usual. Sherlock just doesn't stand a chance, does he? Whatever the case, Faye takes Reese's longsword, so she has something less fancy to shank mooks with. Neither she nor Elbert can use the killing edge, though, so I guess Reese can keep it. Again, when I say someone "can't use" something, they actually can use it, but it will occasionally fail, and the special properties are lost. Not entirely sure if the killing edge's crit is lost, but still, no, thanks. Izerna will carry all of our materials for now. I could give them to Orlando and Lumiere, but... ah, too much effort. I buy a round of vulneraries for everybody. It may seem like a huge investment, but I like keeping one on everybody. Makes life easier. Lastly, Leon hands over his bad spear to Elbert, in case his breaks. The harpoon lacks the charge bonus, which might come in handy at some point. I think that's about all I've got for today! Next time, we go to a cave and vanquish the remnants of the Neam Bandits. Hopefully we'll also get our good horses back. Till then, I am hopeful that you'll be able to remain well. Buh-bye~! How many names does that woman have? The Thracia 776 growths listed on Serenes Forest, as that's how I checked... so not very far from here. Probably used the repair staff to fix the translation of her name. 33 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Believe me, that's what we said, and now we're one of the world leaders when it comes to the coronavirus. Don't be foolish, please. Second place actually in detections. Mind you, the State of New York alone keeps the US from worrying about losing first place. Seriously, there's more cases in that state than Italy for the moment, and if they get ahead of Spain (which I think is increasingly likely as I've been watching the gap close), they'll be worth more cases bar any country save the one they're contributing to. On the bright side, my own region of my country has been struggling to hit double digit new cases the last couple days. Not country wide mind, but seeing as we're closed off from the rest of the Country, it's not spreading very fast here. Other regions are another story, but... I'll live with it. Besides, I never leave home anymore. Not that I could go far if I wanted to (which I don't, I've got a lifetime worth of stuff to do here). The whole Country is quarantined into small regions and venturing outside your own without adequate reason comes with a hefty fine. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I'll have to trust you on that one. Xander's the game's Camus if you're playing Birthright. Except you're more supposed to feel sorry for him because he's Corrin's adoptive brother/recruitable in Conquest rather than because of anything he does. He blindly follows all of Garon's orders to the point of insanity and hypocrisy. His story persona completely contradicts his support conversations. It's like he's two characters. My only explanation is he's an undiagnosed schizophrenic and leaps between two conflicting world views due to a damaged grasp on reality. He's also undeniably a great unit, despite being a total mess as a character. 58 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hahahahahahahahah... Jeez, we're comparing Volcens to the Slaver already? Such is the Erdrick trilogy. Then he's not particularly relevant again. Anyway, Dragon Quest 3 has Erdrick (which isn't the name they're born with, but a title they're given at the end of the game) set out to complete the quest his (or her, I guess seeing as you can pick your gender in that one) father Ortega set out on and failed to complete years prior. Could say that was a very Czene question. Mind, this whole thing would have been much easier if I was still talking to my ex, seeing as it's apparently a name in Hungary. That'd take any question out of it. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: What the hell is an uppy? And Czene is, like, the most popular waifu in this game. Hah! You're a normie! I mean you literally have to break up snow in one. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: She wasn't as grating as I thought she'd be when I played, but still... not my favorite character. Really, none of the starting villagers were my favorites. I'm pretty partial to Kliff, but only because my first time through was OG Gaiden, which he's actually been NERFED from. But back there, I used him down the soldier/knight/baron path and got a monstrosity with a Baron's defense and enough speed to double anyone. So basically, I'd have Silque warp him to the far end of the map (most maps, not a certain abode, and certainly not the final map), and everyone else would work their way to him while he worked his way back. Most broken mess ever? Yes. Did it break the game in half? Certainly. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Really? Huh. 5 points to Kaga for realism. Unless this is like TRS, where the legendary swords were literally just "Holy Sword of X country" until Aethin decided to give them names that aren't profoundly forgettable. Yep. I should know, I've got one. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: For all the good it did him. I'd have said Elongated Man or Flexo the Rubber Man to be more obscure. Mind, one was in the Justice League, the other was literally FLEXO THE RUBBER MAN. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: It may be game over, but Herman'll have to go through Ward to execute Reese. Hah, as if! If he tries, he'll end up in the Emergency Ward. 1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Do not presume to boast before His Royal Majesty, Lord Reese. Any servant of the crown would be able to do at least that much! Is that so? Perhaps we should have left the task to you, Minister Padolf. Hah! I didn't think you had this kind of sass in you, Reese. Then again, blond Waluigi overthere is such an easy target... I feel almost sorry for Waluigi being compared to Padolf Shitler over there. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ahahahahahahahahah! Friggin' Ward, man! What about her even made you come to that conclusion? The fact that she called you "old-timer"? The fact she mentioned she knows her way around locks is a good hint. Considering there's three types of people who do. Thieves, locksmiths, and people who know the average locksmith is just gonna use a drill and charge you for a replacement lock because it's better money for them to sell you a new lock than to actually just pick it and so have learned lock-picking so as not to fall for that shit. Spoiler, most locksmiths actually skip it in favor of the drill (or whatever passes in the middle ages of anime), and so we can safely assume Czene is a thief. Also, because a innocent home owner isn't going to be under Reese's desk listening in on a conversation for this. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: What the hell!? Are you trying to tell me that people have put up 17 hits on 17 different assholes in the, what, 24 hours that've passed in-universe since we took up the job on Valentin? And I'm supposed to buy that? What are you even hoping to accomplish anymore, Valery?! Valeryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...! Yep. He definitely printed up replacement posters for the ones he hocked. Only plausible explanation, because there's no way 17 people didn't pay him in that time. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hey there, Halfmann! I knew Valery was in cahoots with Halfmann. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: You mean the same money half of which you guys pocket? Then again, perhaps Routh doesn't know about that. Perhaps some of it just happens to get lost in the "People -> Routh -> Valery -> Bounty Hunters" chain. Isn't that right, Valery? He's gotta pay off those debts somehow. You know, because his gambling debtors are worse than the actual loan shark around here. Also probably Volcens. Who probably cheats. Or throws fits Porky style when Valery does win by too much. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Till then, I am hopeful that you'll be able to remain well. Buh-bye~! You know, that almost feels personalized, even if it's general. How'd that work?
BrightBow
1 hour ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wait, what? You can prevent the beheading!? It's true that I blocked Athol's path so she wouldn't end the map before I could rescue Merida, but since I was given no warnings or anything, I figured there was no way to stop that from happening... Well, guess I've got a goal to work for when I replay the game. It's an 8 turn limit, just like every other town before. And the game does say that it will take 8 turns for the imperial soldiers to evacuate. The only difference is that at the time it might seem that it would be better to be late for this one. Of course the next turn has another cutscene with the major plotting the assassination of the imperial officer, and at that point it's clear that you do need to make it in 8 turns yet again. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Is he trying to make Volcens suspicious of us? 'Cause... it's probably going to work, him being as stupid as he is... I guess that would make sense. I figured Herman was looking for something specific. But he couldn't possibly expect the Sinnon Knights would spend much time searching the place when that was not part of the mission, considering the time limit and all. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: About time you got the message, Reese. You handled Padolf stupendously, but how could you fall for Herman's bait like that? Well, it's not like Reese could have just ignored him and walked away. But his response was still not very smart. Should have just said they went straight back to the capital once the job was done. Of course on this court everything he says or does will be interpreted as insolence towards his majesty anyway. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Old-timer?! I'll have you know-- Oh, you're that girl we came across during the battle... Well, you do have a daughter who is probably older then the girl you're speaking to right now. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Geez, you're no fun at all! You guys were just talking about how your horses had been stolen, right? ...how the hell do you know that? The "Watchful" skill maybe. I suppose it does negate the hide effect on houses. 2 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I couldn't think of any way to explain this, so I decided to show it. However, the gif was too big for imgbox, so this is the best I can do. Suffice to say, good animations. It's strange that this scene plays now. I mean, this scene really only serves the purpose of introducing Clifford. So you'd think it would occur before that scene with Ruby. Benice
7 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, here's a challenge for you: pun Czene If we can't accept her culture, does that mean that we're getting Czeneophobic? (I could make more jokes, but they'd be obczene.) 7 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: mean, the guy got beaten by some rando who ran from Ward at the first sign of some steel. Never underestimate the endgame beard. 7 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: frustrating ending since Canas's bullshit death. My two favourite characters... I'm not the only one who only played through the entirety of FE7 because of Canas?! I always modify the ending of FE7 so Canas "Is finally recognized as a true deity by the people of Elibe. Canas transcended the mortal plane, where he lived for all eternity. The St. Elimine church was replaced by the Church of Canas." I mean, FE7 is kinda not canon, so why not? Wait, hold the phone: Volcens is young? He looks like a elderly/middle aged man to me! It must be his gray hair or something. Also, I guess that you'd be satisfied to know that I was inspired by you to play Berwick, and I've loved it so far, (Almost done ch.2's main mission) but the music when you're just vibing in the city is intense! Trying to have a cold one with the cavaliers is kinda unrelaxing because of it. Edited April 8, 2020 by Benice
eclipse
The "different" bounty? It couldn't possibly be the good-looking guy whose name is "White", is it? Edited April 8, 2020 by eclipse
