It's probably a psychological thing, because this always happens when I get stressed out.
Thank you for your concern, though! ^^

My bouts of a "mortality anxiety" form of depression (I've never been diagnosed, but fearing the inevitability of death every waking moment sounds like depression) tends to send my stomach into a churning and leaves me not very hungry. So I think can sympathize.

Btw @Interdimensional Observer what determines whether or not I can see Tyrant details on the map? Because sometimes I'll tap and icon and it'll show me, other times it won't. Same with Field Skill points.

Not all Tyrants and treasure chests (technically thats what they're called I think) are marked on the FrontierNav map, those that aren't, aren't required for the Survey. Otherwise, I'm not sure of your problem, I don't see it happening to me.

I haven't yet. I was doing quests and exploring so I could reach Lv.20 and do Hope's first Affinity Mission. Mainly as an excuse to visit Cauldros.

No rush! Overdrive isn't ever necessary.

And I did strip my Cross to absolutely nothing that you don't have at the moment, with the exception of the "failure" of a weapon you get from Alexa's recruitment mission. I got my TP to 3000 and went into battle against something that'd live long enough to OD, but that couldn't kill me. It took several tries, but I eventually I go an infinite OD going.

All my failed attempts were because I just came a hair short of getting back to 3000 TP. Equipping any gear with TP Max Up you can find will seriously help, at level 1, it increases your TP cap by 500. You can stack multiple pieces of gear with it, and making Augments of it is super-easy, kill some Suids or Ovises in Primordia for Fleecy Fur.

What you should do is, in the following order:

  • Start the battle with:
    • Your TP full to whatever the cap is...
    • ...and your melee weapon drawn so you don't prematurely fire your ranged weapon.
  • Activate Overdrive.
  • Swap weapons and perform a ranged auto-attack.
  • Use Power Dive > Furious Blast
  • Allow for another ranged auto-attack.
  • Use Burning Slash.

By this point, if all hits have landed so far, you should only need one more ranged auto-attack to reach 3000 TP if you started OD at 0 TP. But time will be so crunched you probably won't make it (though if you do succeed, it'll suddenly be a breeze), so this is where increasing your maximum TP is useful.

As soon as you get 3000 TP again, assuming you're low on time, spend the TP to extend Overdrive. (Be careful not to press the Overdrive icon twice, that'll take you out of it.) Then use Power Dive > Furious Blast again. Continue to allow for ranged auto-attacks and use Burning Slash or other purple Arts for TP. A third or fourth Power Dive > Furious Blast should get you to MAX on the OD Count, by which point if not earlier TP generation via purples will suffice and you can stop pausing for ranged auto-attacks. Now, you can freely use an Aura and all your strong damage-dealing Arts because the buildup part of OD is past.

That's rough. You have my sympathies as well.

Wait, overdrive is hard to earn back? Huh, never ran into that issue unless I'm using Photon Saber.

As for how to keep it up, the skill that raises tp for every melee/or ranged version: art used is good, max tp up, and specific arts of course.

Some of these maps man

really hammer in that Kaga created Echoes Swamp maps

Okay, it ain't a good picture because it doesn't capture the entire battle, but the point is you start off in the unseen northwest corner of this big map, which is entirely poison swamp IIRC, slowing you down and leaving you at the mercy of those flying Necrodragons and bow-toting Harpies, plus the occasional Warp Witch reinforcement.

Fortunately, the Warp staff is available at this point (but because SoV-styled route splits, going in blind you might not have it, or have it but you sent the lone user of it the other way) and this is a seize map. That is the one sweet mercy.

Haha, I just watched that FOE video.

xD

In my humble opinion, one of the greatest memes in existience.
Everything in that video is accurate. XD
Although the "one every (in-game) three days" part (which refers to when they will respawn if you do manage to take one out) was changed to one in-game week for the more modern entries.

What does F.O.E. mean?

In the Japanese version, it means Field On Enemy.
Because F.O.E.'s are the only enemies that are not random encounters in Etrian Odyssey, but instead walk around in the dungeons. Most of the dungeon puzzles actually revolve around avoiding them.

The English localizers had their fun with this acronym and made it...

Spoiler

Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens

I am not kidding.

"Hmm... this map looks good, but you know what it needs? MOAR Green Units!!!!" ~ Shouzo Kaga, 20Idon'tknowwhen

Almost every main story map so has been about escorting green units.

And the upcoming ones we will have to clear way for allies coming our way, which if i have to guess, are also green units

Good lord.
Are they as stupid as those suicidal villagers from that one Awakening Paralogue that ran towards the enemy instead of away from them?

Luckily, it's just that one map, but still... yikes.
There is making a map challenging and difficult by having you save green units before the enemy gets to them.
And then there's making said green units so unbelievably stupid that you stop caring about them after the third reset (thankfully, I eventually found a strategy with which to save everyone, but that only works on Normal).
If you've ever played the Sophie paralogue in Fates... it's basically that, but slightly less annoying due to there being fewer (and weaker) enemies.

I don't think i've ever yet to see a well done green units map in official FE tbh

Well, Elincia's Gambit, RD 3-13 and 3H ch12 are the only ones that come to mind

I largely agree with you, and on the map choices, too, but one other Three Houses map also comes to mind for me, namely the Remire village map (I don't know the Chapter number. I think it's either 9 or 10?).
Then again... I've never played Maddening, so....

It’s 8 if you’re actually curious and this doesn’t make you more curious as to why I have that memorized
