Persona the only series where you get a gender selection for the protagonist only to never do it again. Imagine if after Rune Factory 4, Rune Factory 5 only had the male protagonist again. High school setting + SMT = the grain of sand that later became the Persona Pearl. Super Famicom and PS1 artworks respectively of the male & female protagonist options. And SF artwork of FeMC with possible companion students around her. Furthermore, Persona did not forget about being born from if... . As Persona 1 brought back the FeMC, now named "Tamaki Uchida", as an NPC transfer student to the P1 high school, her own adventure is softly declared canon, as she can still summon demons -albeit offscreen only. The male protagonist option was nowhere in sight and presumably not-canon to Oldsona. Persona 2 being in the same world as P1, would have her show up again.: If Tamaki looks a bit older, it's because P2 starts three years after P1, she is no longer a high school student. She works at a detective agency now, and the heroes of both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment can pay her to spread magical rumors around town (and her continued ability to summon demons is mentioned once in IS). I think so. They were aiming for some kind of very low-key single universe here. The old overweight detective Tamaki works for, is actually possessed by the spirit of the demon-summoning detective (Kyouji Kuzunoha) who lost his body to the silent protagonist in SMT: Devil Summoner. Also, six of the nine playable characters from Persona 1 show up in Persona 2, three of whom are even playable. Adding in an EP flashback where they actually talk, you can say the P1 MC shows up as well, so it's only two that get nada. One of the NPC P1 characters is Maki, the girl the SEBEC storyline -the main storyline of P1- revolved around, essentially the "true protagonist" of the original Persona. Not only that, the main villain of Persona 1, Takahisa Kandori, shows up in Eternal Punishment as an antagonist (but not the antagonist) once more. Rumor has it they never died -but it's that very rumor that resurrects them (and it's a more interesting return than say lolMedeus). Very much one of the most dreaded fighting forces in Lieberia. -Alvina's leadership makes her apparently capable of turning "ordinary men" into the most terrifying opponents in the entire game. -After the complete breakdown of the Western front, Lynette was able to turn the whole situation on it's head by rallying the people of Western Veria into her new army and beat back the empire. -Sienna was able to get Duke Roswick and Reese to finally take action against the king and lead them to perform an operation to rescue Duke Bernard from Berwick Island. She is also the one who leads the Berwick League in the aftermath of Narvia's invasion and set the whole groundwork for a lasting peace. -By all accounts Kay was also doing a good job leading the Highlanders against the empire. -Hoelun rallied the whole Nyman League in rebellion against their leader and became their new Leaguemaster in just a few days. -Arielle got the people holding her hostage to not only let her go, but also follow her in infiltrating a fortress, team up with General Paulos, sabotage their siege equipment and consequently completely turn the tables of her brother who had Reese and his escort dead to rights. She also lead another successful military operation later on, this time in more official capacity. -On the other end of the competence spectrum, even Athol seems to start figuring out that whole leadership thing. Getting the Meledian nobles to accept a mere Count as chancellor and getting away with announcing that she will take the throne of Meleda once she turns 18. BrightBow Posted March 8 Share Posted March 8 (edited) Expert Mode does a lot of cool things. But I hate how you lose your wing after crashing into something only once. Overall though, it's a really well put together hard mode, with all kinds of new obstacles being placed in levels instead of it being a matter of simply tweaking damage numbers. Venom 1 is also just a beautiful hell on Expert Mode. Those rapidfiring enemies they placed in particular. Very tricky to avoid with all the other obstacles in the way. Can play as a girl in Skyrim, IIRC I never had any problem with that. Kinda enjoy playin with female protagonists now.
