In some ways I could make comparisons with US intervention in this theatre in the years since, especially post WWII. Wouldn't be too surprising if the idea of that kind of control drove policy alongside the tactic of preventing "one good example" there or elsewhere. It shouldn't include any details that weren't in the the trailer (though it does mention "that guy" who technically does appear in the trailer). Spoiler During my previous predictions we barely knew anything about the plot, but now we know the premise: Godzilla is attacking humans for some reason and we'll also explore Hollow Earth. Also, we know pretty definitively that Mechagodzilla is in. This image suggests that Godzilla is attacking APEX facilities in particular, so it's reasonable to assume that APEX created Mechagodzilla (whether or not Godzilla is attacking APEX because of Mechagodzilla is unclear). Was Mechagodzilla made to kill Titans, or to serve as an artificial alpha to control them? At the very least it seems Mechagodzilla is attacking cities for some reason. At this point I don't think Rodan or Mothra will be included because it's not worth getting the license to them just to give them minor roles (presumably Mothra will still be in her egg and Rodan will be chilling in a volcano somewhere), though the other Titans should be fair game to show up. Adam Wingard said in an interview that there will be a definitive winner this time because the original King Kong vs. Godzilla didn't have one. While Kong has underdog-bias on his side, it might be more unexpected for Godzilla to win if Kong is unable to overcome him (also, Kong technically won last time). Regardless of whoever the overall winner is, I think Godzilla will win the aircraft carrier battle. I don't expect either of them to die because it wouldn't be a good idea to lock yourself out of using famous and marketable characters (also I'd be pretty bummed if either of them died). Despite that, my prediction for the ending stays largely the same. Once the final battle is over, Mechagodzilla intervenes in an attempt to kill them both (thinking about it, MG would have to be pretty powerful to be a threat to them both). G and K team up to take him down, but Godzilla is severely wounded (regardless of whether or not he won against Kong). Godzilla leaves to go into hibernation to recover and passes the torch of "King of the Monsters" to Kong in the meantime, giving the later the title "King Kong". The post-credits scene can have Alan Jonah collecting Mechagodzilla's remains to tease Mecha-King Ghidorah or something like that. Like, did whoever did it just ignored the context? Or the fact the word didn't translate properly? Dear and deer might sound the same, but aren't spelled the same... and neither mean the same... Spoiler So i used to think that the "King Kong" ending was a possibility as well, since it did feel like a route they'd take but then i found out that WB and Legendary cannot actually legally use the name "King Kong". I mean, they might still do it in a roundabout way (kinda like they did in Skull Island with "Kong is king on this island") but for legal reasons, they can't call him King Kong so that particular prediction is kinda weak. I do agree Godzilla wins the aircraft carrier battle because he's in his element there. I'm actually very curious as how Kong escapes because we saw what Godzilla did to Ghidorah when they were both in the water. I do think that while they will team-up against MechaG, it's a temporary truce. Once MechaG's been taken care of, they will actually finish what they started because they did say there'd be a definitive winner. Whether they actually kill themselves over it is another matter entirely but i too think it won't actually end with one of them dead, especially with that Skull Island series coming soon, even if it is a prequel (MechaG's definitely being turned into scrap tho unless they paid Toho for a future appearance). Now if it was a three-way fight, that'd be raw as fuck. Aircraft Carrier battle Hong Kong battle (would be funny if Kong wins here) Another unidentified city battle They fight at least three times. And we also know Kong fights the Warbats in Hollow Earth and of course, MechaGodzilla. This movie seems to have more Kaiju fights than most Godzilla movies.
