Well, I didn't expect to learn today that there was a man who lost his penis so a team of scientists grew one to replace it on his arm over years. How did I miss this going on for the last 6 years?

A lot of RPG fans would argue that the story is the single most important part and they can be very stubborn about this.

I mean, it's not like gameplay isn't a consideration for me with FF either.

FFT is too clunky for me to bother going any further with that, never mind the yikes in that story. FFIV DS on the other hand is a solid version of the game with improvements over prior versions that does hold up imo (Barring the rainbow pudding..... who thought that low a drop would be acceptable for a quest?). The high automation that's expected in XII and built into XIII is a bother for myself, irrespective of any other factors. The gameplay of VII and VIII are both impacted by the decision to handle magic and other skills in a manner that homogenises characters but it's how they're acquired and maintained is why I can't bother playing VIII and have a file on VII that I'd finish if I was in the mood for it and didn't want to prioritse other games.

...Well. That's going to make sexual intercourse rather awkward.

They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to ask if they should.

Pretty certain the final plan is to move it to the appropriate place, but it's naturally awkward as all hell just having it there on your arm.

South Park warned us ~15 years ago.

Should've gotten the spray.

Again, skylight. Out of reach, needed a ladder. Just as soon as we got the ladder, it dropped down and disappeared.

...It's back this morning 😑, I hear it, I see it, right where it was before.

I mean it does depend i guess but the sprays have range . The one i use can hit pretty far.

You beat the OG version 100%? Wow, that must have taken alot of time and more reading things up. XD

I think the most time consuming thing was Yiazmat... and I tell you my motivation to ever fight that thing again is nil. You know a boss is not a good idea when it has so much hp they don't expect you to beat it in one go. Funny thing is, every once in a while I think of buying the switch version to play through the game again... and then I kind of get flashbacks to that fight, and think "maybe when I've got more time". I think I'd love that game a lot more if I could forget that one fight.

I don't know. Seems normal for an octopus. http://www.actforlibraries.org/octopus-reproduction/

Maybe he has the 1-2 range spray and you the 3-10 one. Ever thought of that?

Ultimately we didn't use spray. Instead, we got the ladder, grabbed a vacuum cleaner, and sent the buzzing creature down the wind tunnel. Rather than leave it to die of asphyxiation inside the vacuum, we then dumped the contents into a plastic bag, stomped on it several times, and threw it in the garbage.

Maybe chemical weapons would have been the more humane option.

So, I was made known of this and:

Even successful mobile games like Fire Emblem Heroes suffer from this, with writers being expected to research characters via fan wikis due to an overall lack of documentation.

... seriously...?

Inb4 they use Serenes too.

Well, that's just amazing. Turns out, Heroes was no less fanfic than any fanfic ever written. Just reading the same cliffnotes as the rest of us, figuring out some dialogue that seems to be in-character, commissioning a piece of artwork from this or that artist, and there you go. You can call that official because it has IntSys's name attached. Even though any fan could do that.

Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for sharing this.

Hey IntSys, give Garon a summer alt if you're reading this.

Algorithm, what is wrong with you? :puke:

Every time I see this guy's face or name I'm reminded of the time he was developing a brain chip that he promised would, among other things, cure autism.

The chip massacred over 60% of the lab monkeys being used to test it. He suffered no consequences.

Rich people, amirite?

Well, the article talks specifically about NoA, so the actual FEH writers this wouldn't apply to... but yeah.

Unless that part is talking about the original writers too, not just localizers.

Well, IS wrote Eirika as a bloodthirsty brute for the Awakening DLC. So they might not be all that knowledgeable either.

I remember her outburst at Old Hubba's description of her... but admittedly not much else.

As it is, I wouldn't be too sure on that one being a mistake, since they were going with "Einherjar personalities are only what the people who made them thought their personalities were", so it could've been deliberate. After all, they did the same gag in the Sumia-Cynthia support, with the latter bringing up the stories she heard about her mother, and Sumia being all "I did that!? I better be extra careful when I talk with historians then."

Nah, definitely playable.

Like i know what you're saying, i'm just saying that would still be considered playable.

I mean, Tiger lad very good, I like him a lot, just didn't know if he constituted as properly playable. There should have been a racing minigame with him, though.

'morning!

But he makes memes! So relatable! Just like us! To the moon! He'll make us all rich!

("Brain chip that cures autism" would've been a red flag even without the monkeys)

(Seriously, fuck that guy)

It starts with "I've come here to put an end to it—and to you!" and quickly descends into unhinged declarations of the intend to murder.

Gullible, am I? You believe you have tricked me with some deception?! Just as I thought: you ARE brigands! Prepare to die!

Brigands! Deceivers! I will strike you ALL down!

That's most certainly an amazing way to miss the point. Eirika is gullible... in the sense that she thinks there are always alternatives to killing people. That any differences can be dealt with through discussion and diplomacy.

Also her death quote is amazing too.
No... I've never lost to anyone...besides my brother...

Eirika learn a little bit of self-defense by a brother. She is not some mighty, undefeated warrior.

If this is actually intentionally out of character... that's essentially saying that Eirika was remembered as her own anti-thesis. That the princess who dedicated her live for peace was ultimately remembered as the caricature she was painted as by Grado's war propaganda.
That's a pretty depressing implication to throw out there for your goofy "Get Old Hubba's stolen porn stash back" plot.

Sounds like they thought it'd be funny to portray her as her opposite... so they did.

We have Old Hubba calling Eirika a gullible moron and Eirika acting like a gullible moron. So it's very clear that they are meant to be an accurate depiction of these people.

Which also can come off as a jab. It's not like back in 2012 it wouldn't be known how mocked Eirika was for those moments in Sacred Stones. It's as Old Hubba states.

Legend has it that Eirika was quite naive. Gullible, even.

Each card contains a record of one of history's most valiant and glorious heroes.

Since unless the cards were made by interviewing the actual heroes, it hints more that whoever created the cards based themselves on historical records... and perhaps some unnaccurate ones too.

That's exactly my point. The writers didn't know Eirika. They only knew about her reputation. And they cared so little, they thought that was good enough.

Fortunately it seems that by the time the Sequel DLC Champions of Yore 3 came out, they had someone pointing out that their take was utter bullocks, and she stopped acting aggressively out of character.
But of course Champions of Yore 1 was the DLC they released for free, so I'm more familiar with that one.

And my point is that that's not a sign they didn't know. As it could've been on purpose precisely because they could've known how she really is, but in light of fan reputation, they thought they could make a nod to it.
