''I can see the ending''

Indeed!

I'm honestly surprised how easy it is to give kills to Ross, even on Hard difficulty.
Not that I would complain, of course.

His second level up... he got HP, Strength, and... Resistance.
wat? XD

And Gilliam keeps missing. Yay!
Though he has WTD at the moment, so it's not too surprising. Still... I would hope he'd at least hit something every once in a while. XD

And Ross' luck has left him.
His third level up is Skill, and only Skill. *sigh*

Yeah but I don't think I'd be getting amazing drops early on.

Maybe it is. You wanted it, and now it wants you.

Isn't that the feeling you want when you're stuck a on different planet anyhow? NLA is the sole refuge of all that is hospitable.😄

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I will say that now that I'm actually playing it, I can say with absolute confidence that I would not recommend Xenoblade X as an entry point for newcomers to this series.

And if an enemy drops weapons or armor that say "Busted" and has absolute minimum stats, that means you don't have the Arms Manufacturer to make that stuff not-Busted.

I don't think I've gotten any of these yet but it's basically the familiar RPG mechanic of finding a seemingly broken weapon but when you take it to the forge, it becomes good, right?

Though yeah, I do think an SoV-style remake of Sacred Stones, where you play both Ephraim's and Eirika's routes simultaneously, would be nice.

They'd have to slightly modify the plot for that to work. Mainly the stuff with Lyon. Unit balance would also need modification.

Oh, durability works like this:

  • Grey-0% chance to break on use
  • Green-1% chance to break on use
  • Yellow-2% chance to break on use
  • Orange-4% chance to break on use
  • Red-Will break on next hit

Why the fuck would durability be left to RNG?

That durability thing is honestly one reason I would probably drop Berwick if I played it myself and it happened one too many times in all the wrong moments.
I know my luck. It would happen right when I really don't need it.

Tatsu! Kill him!

You'd be surprised. Killing a level 21 enemy can yield In some 25-27 equipment with amazing skills on it. The jump keeps getting greater as you advance in levels.

of course he gained like 15 extra avoid then or so <.<

One time I had a ballista break on its first shot. That was absolutely amazing. Map was a breeze after that.

Yeah, not gonna lie, it's not great. We're talking 1%, 2% chances until red durability, so it's not as common or impactful as you'd think, but it does happen.

Well, Leon's spear breaking was the reason he got killed in the second sidequest of Ch. 1 last night, so...

Jikes... I'm so sorry.

The game is fun so far so that this doesn't bother me that much.

Just like how i enjoy FE5 despite Kaga surprises existing xD

RNG durability just made me less likely to play Berwick too. History shows again and again how Kaga doesn't want his players to have a good time.

Same actually. I'm still enjoying the game enough to want to keep playing.

My luck when it comes to these kinds of things is downright atrocious. I've had enough previous experiences with this kind of stuff that I can safely say that. XD
The mere fact that this exists is almost enough reason for me to say "no, thanks", because I know it will happen at the wrong time, and I know it will frustrate me to hell and back. And I'd honestly rather not deal with that. The other being that I can't get the PS2 emulator to work.

But I'll stop talking now so as to not ruin anyone's enjoyment or day. Because I'm happy you guys are enjoying yourselves.

Ayup.
Kaga and I have different definitions of what "fun" means, and I accept that.

Eh, hard to dislike Tatsu when Lin becomes the more annoying one in their interactions...

But then, I haven't played long enough to see if it's an argument that holds all game long.

I think it's less that and more that part of his design philosophy that player should be ready for any surprises and see everything coming...

which i don't really think works with a SRPG with perma consequences like FE.

Were you fortunate enough to get equipment with treasure sensor to begin? I was one of the lucky ones.

At least starting with Berwick he decided to cut the player some slack with the 5 turn saves. Sure, your weapon might break on green at the worst time, but... Hey, if worse comes to worst, at least you're not redoing the whole map.

I think he added the 5 turns save in because maps take too long XD

Even he wouldn'T want the player the player to retry 2 worth of usual maps length at once xD

But yeah even cryptic stuff seems less cryptic this time around. And there are legit tutorials this around, finally.

Tatsu's saving grace is that he isn't playable.

I mean, I was mainly joking when I said he doesn't want players to have a good time but I really can't bring myself to like a lot of the design choices Kaga does in his games.

It comes more to me as "Don't aim to get everything on the first playthrough. Experiment and learn that first run, so next time you can get a more fulfilling playthrough."

Here i disagree

FE4 has to be one of the most imbalanced games ever. Nothing post kaga IS did comes even close to that

next time

  1. Not many do a next run. I am definetly not one of them
  2. If player misses something it shouldn't be due to bullshit surprises
  3. Some of these surprises can legit soft lock you out of finishing the game
