TRS has kind of a lack of good bow users. Raquel is amazing, Leonie is a fun project, Lionheart is competent and Raphael is Raphael, but the other bow users range from unremarkable to Luca. The bow selection isn't fantastic either, there's a rare drop bow that's great, Raquel's brave bow and the rest isn't all that memorable. But at least you can use them indoors.

TRS archers also just have more of a niche in general.
Zombie Dragons, Gargoyles, whatever the floating testicles are called...

Not to mention Harpies, who are actually 2 range locked. You find yourself a Harpie summoner and you can park Tomas in front of him and laugh from a distance.

Aesthetics I've heard argued isn't really amazing for Culture. Opener is nifty, but otherwise you have to basically finish the tree to get much of a benefit from it. Rationalism is arguably better some would say b/c faster Internet matters more for a quick win than what Aesthetics provides.

Well, Rationalism is better than every other tree in every situation  I guess Aesthetics is not the easiest to fill out early, since you also want the Tier 3 Broadcast Tower policy from Freedom sooner rather than later for a culture win, but I generally find that at the very least, being able to faith-buy Musicians once your base Tourism is high enough to make rock concerts worth it, is a very nice feature. And only putting four points into Rationalism (opener, Secularism, Humanism, Free Thought) isn't the end of the world, imo, so I tend to prioritise Aesthetics over those last two policies in a Tourism game.

Of course, in this game, I played Poland, so any considerations about not having enough policies are moot.

Biggest city I've ever had I think. I managed to get America to ideology flip from Order to Freedom. Should've taken Order myself with that boundless Indian happiness.

Exporting democracy to the US, very nice. And with cities that huge, Statue of Liberty should be worth its weight in gold, so from a glance, Freedom doesn't seem like a bad pick.

Pop 35 in a fourth city is pretty insane, especially because India only gets Happiness bonuses and not to food production. Sounds more like an Aztec situation to me. Internal trade routes all the way would be my guess?

I think you forgot to name somebody, need I enlist a fictional British detective to sleuth it out?🔎

-Okay, Watson ain't marvelous really. If he weren't a bow-using at base lord when FE has never had one (in your opinion there hasn't ever been one, right?😛), then he'd be nice, but not actually anything of a standout?

I can't fucking believe I forgot Lestrade.

Yeah, Gregson is pretty good, but he gets effective damage from Eugen's fists, which is pretty crippling. Still, yeah, definitely closer to Raquel than to Luca, ol' Moriarty.

And as for Raphael, he can "use" bows like he can "use" axes. Or like 4Leif can "use" bows and axes, or Hannibal/Xavier -except rather badly in the generals' cases. Got some nice spares nobody is using? Toss it on them Raph/Leif if they have the inventory space.

I hesitated to include Raphael for exactly this reason. Still felt kinda wrong not to because, well, he's Raphael. Whatever you give him, he's good, and that does include bows, though I'd say you're more likely to give him a pilum.

In a world where I got back to BS, hypothetically speaking, the whole Expert skill and my understanding of how non-magic personal weapons work, the sniper lady could, with the reasonable-ish? endgame level of 23, use Istohval's and Klesteeni's exclusives, right?

She could certainly try. I believe at max level she has a like, 32~% chance to successfully use the funny devil bow.

Never had more fun in TRS than when I had Tom handle the entire left side on that one boat map with the harpy summoner. That was so fucking funny.

"Devil Bow"? You mean the Pascanion. That's just a Rank 30 weapon. Don't even necessarily need Expert for that.

Oh, I forgot it was rank 30. Thought it was rank -

Yeah, at level 23 with expert... Sylvis can just straight up use it. No questions asked. Thanks, Estie.

This was missing a few classes. I typed vainly "Fortress Knight" before looking it up to make sure i wasn't tripping. Turns out the quiz was tripping.

When the fuck is Loptyr playable?

Also don't worry, the quiz was missing a few clases anyways.

You're just being petty now.

Also, August The Good Character? Yes, absolutely. Ced? Fuck no, Ced's barely a character in this game or the other game. He's basically just "badass that is cool and does things." The actual other Good Characters are Dry Ass and Saias.

That gives him more characterization than 90% of the pre PoR characters

I think you're quite underselling Ced here. Rebel group leader, problems with his father, etc.

It got me the Tear Down This Wall achievement, ironically enough.🤣 If only exporting democracy was this easy IRL.

Internal > external until the lategame as you well know. -Provided you have the Happiness, which is not an issue with India in the mid & long terms.🇮🇳 An early external before your luxes are all improved is fine, and externals when wide I suppose make sense with how low the Happiness ceiling will be. Pop = science, and the only way externals could possibly get around the science bottleneck is perhaps via Scholasticism with many City-States whose allegiances have been purchased with external gold. Lategame, well you don't need to really grow much more, the cost in gold of things becomes cheaper than it was earlier eras vs. production, and depending on your victory desires (Culture, Freedom Diplomacy or Science), externals become more attractive.

I might've gotten the Temple of Artemis, and Hanging Gardens in the cap too.😁 You know you're in for a good game when you've built both of them. Delhi reached the point where it ran out of specialist slots and tiles to work (even ignoring Shaka's lategame citadel-bombing).

It really was one of those perfect maps, something where anything else, for a while thereafter, would feel disappointing.

The Floating Gardens are nice, but getting food is the easy part. Find flat plains and grasslands (ideally with freshwater) and farm them, simple, they're pretty plentiful. The Aztecs (once I've finally rolled a capital with a nice big lake, rare outside of Lakes maps) I've found struggle for Happiness, that doesn't come as easily as food, and once you run low on 😀, growth can't continue.

India breaks even on Happiness (fully countering its increased per city Unhappiness) at 6 pop. So, in the above screenshot... I think, rounding down... 14 + 17 + 17 + 23 = 72 extra Happiness? Doesn't sound believable.

And lost Louis as well fuck fuck fuck

Louis is not that big of a loss, Anna will be felt, but Ivy hurts really really bad.

Let's see what we have next chapter-

vclwybv.jpg

Why so angry

And iirc Ragnarok has 15 MT - that's 43 warping MAtk - NOT GOOD

And Unholy Stance is even active when initiating - learned that the hard way when Ai combined it with Echo in ch10 to make me damage myself 4 times lmao

He isn't, Salem's class is called a Loptyrian priest, as an appropriate name for the first dark mage.

Ced might not be on the level of August Drias and Saias, but you are selling him fairly short there.

Yeah, that fog od war map is rough, and the first place I would expect to see a death on an Engage ironman

Oof, that is rough buddt. And poor Anna is such a fresh recruit too. Although I have found Ivy to be a bit of a crit magnet, so I am not all that surprised by that death, although she is a really strong unit to lose.

A third death on that one map. A real massacre there. Thankfully you are still in Engage's drown you in strong prepromotes stage of things.

Thracian healers missing is one of the most overblown things people complain about in that game.

Yeah the RR has quite a few skills that are not in the base game

For example - many bosses early on have resist Status - because you get Corrin early, so it makes it a bit harder to Draco hex them (they only get -2 instead of -4, and -2 MoV instead of Freeze)

And Lucina replaces Roy - Marni will be a joy to face 🙂

Honestly, until now i'd say the RR is easier than base game - but now i am starting to feel the heat from the Emblem switch - and the fact that i can't reclass Veyle before lvl21 (she's 19 atm) due to her being in a special class and i really really really need to get her in a class with better speed - like Griffin - until the good Dragon Emblems return.

4 minutes ago, Eltosian Kadath said:

yeah she does have low Lck

But she didn't die to a crit, but because i thought i could kill an archer once i revealed him...i couldn't xD

And thus had to choose between sacrificing Ivy or Hortensia - decided on Ivy because Hortensia staff'ing is to valuable to lose now.
