Portraits are stored as they appear in the game. All variants of the same portrait are stored separatedly. There are also like 30 blank pixels to the right of each portrait, for some reason. I made my portrait the same way I make all of my GBA portraits: by cutting parts off of existing portraits and frankensteining (before you say it, I know he was the scientist) them together. I thought it'd be difficult to edit Herman's head out, but then I found out that my head is bigger than his, so I just hid it under mine. Try to wrap your head around how that works, biologically. Besides, in Vestaria everyone and their mom has a personal brave weapon, so that makes the Edelstern less special. The yellow units seem like they might defend the line, but following Volcens's order, they will retreat into the fort before long. The fort itself will never be in any trouble, with the sheer amount of units in it. For the most part, we can forget about it and focus our efforts on protecting the civilians in the town. This is a map where the first few turns are the toughest. It's very easy to lose control of the situation, but once the first assault is over, the enemy will have a hard time recovering their momentum. For today's tactics points, we need to clear the map (painless enough), clear the map by defeating the boss, and clear the map by defeating the boss within 10 turns. One, two and three tactics points, each. There's actually a way to cheese this. See the house with the question mark above it? There's a secret passage in it. If you enter it, the unit will disappear, and reappear next to the boss a few turns later. This is extremely dangerous, however, and in an ironman run with me as the player, too much could go wrong. I won't take the risk. We'll do it the old-fashioned way. Notice that the tactics points have nothing to do with protecting the civilians. There's a different reward for that. We'll get to it. As for Vanmilion, he's going to be absolutely fine. He surpasses even Clifford in most areas, and his gear is top notch. Sylvis is also here, and although she won't waste the gear I had on her (she brings her own stuff to this mission), she could potentially die if the other knights failed to hold the gate. That said, I've never seen it happen. The knight in front of her is sturdy, and by the time he bites the dust, the other yellow units on the map will have entered the fort. Why aren't you counting him? I would like to attack the enemy's forward flank when I get the chance, but I cannot do so unless I know the town will remain safe in my absence. Marcel is a guardian, which is essentially an armor knight with swords. He's the game's non-joke pure knight. Which doesn't make him much better, to be honest. Marcel is actually a bit worse at tanking than Derrick, with lower defense, but swords give him better accuracy, and his speed isn't... horrendous. He's also better at using his shields, thanks to one of his skills and his higher WpSkill. He can tank rather well, all things considered, but the rarity of good LShields hurts him a lot, since he can't rely solely on his defense like some others. He has these skills: - Shieldfaire is perfect for a unit like him. - Guard is cool. It'd be cooler if Sherpa and Ward didn't exist. - Blade is fine. Allows him to deal big hits. - Slow. This one is hidden. What does it do? It takes one point of movement from him. Yeah. Generic guardians have 4 movement, but not Marcel, because Kaga despises playable knights. He does lose it at level 15, though, but that's still 10 levels you have to feed him before he can move at a reasonable pace. All in all, Marcel can work, but his initial movement and the rarity of large shields make him cumbersome to use, and he lacks Derrick's adorability or Daoud's reliability. He's stuck in a weird middle ground where he's not as hilarious as Derrick, nor as legitimately decent as Daoud. Still, I used him in my first run, and he performed well enough. Perhaps I'll let him have a place in my team. After all, one can never have too many bad units. That depends on my performance today, however: Marcel, like Daoud, never becomes a mercenary, but to compensate, he is only recruited if all of the civilians survive. Lose a single one, and Marcel is gone. This is a bit easier to do than Daoud's requirement, though, which I feel is only right, since Marcel is worse than him. Sylvis does her job as the fort's heavy artillery. Guuuughh...! Ahh... Captain... Damnit all! I'm going to crush all of you! In your dreams, tough guy! It's accuracy of 70% is only surpassed by the Pascanion and equal toĀ the Serenia Bow. Every other bow is at 60% or lower. And even then, it's only the Killer Bow and the Apollyon who have 60%. So it's not like he wouldn't have other things to do. Plus, Provoke is pretty handy on this map. Funnily enough, on my current run I got that bag because Sylvis successfully used Maim on the crossbow guy carrying it. Brought him down to exactly 1 HP too, so that was super lucky. But since he only has 3 move, he still can't scale cliffs. And since he is not technically an armor, he should not affected by the Hammer's defense negation for armor type units. He does lose it at level 15, though, but that's still 10 levels you have to feed him before he can move at a reasonable pace. All in all, Marcel can work, but his initial movement and the rarity of large shields make him cumbersome to use, and he lacks Derrick's adorability or Daoud's reliability. He's stuck in a weird middle ground where he's not as hilarious as Derrick, nor as legitimately decent as Daoud. Still, I used him in my first run, and he performed well enough. Perhaps I'll let him have a place in my team. After all, one can never have too many bad units. That depends on my performance today, however: Marcel, like Daoud, never becomes a mercenary, but to compensate, he is only recruited if all of the civilians survive. Lose a single one, and Marcel is gone. This is a bit easier to do than Daoud's requirement, though, which I feel is only right, since Marcel is worse than him. I mean, Guard's nice. Most others are dropped, but this requires you capture bosses. And then there's the Albatross... But at least in those cases they are virtually guaranteed to block successfully. Although there is always the option of Kramer using Knock Off so that Thaddy can just nap the shield. And there is already a bag for Thaddy to steal on this map. So it's not like he wouldn't have other things to do. Plus, Provoke is pretty handy on this map. That would be the smart way to do it. My way is far more sophisticated. It consists of praying to dear RNGoddess and hope that I've sacrificed enough children in her name. Funnily enough, on my current run I got that bag because Sylvis successfully used Maim on the crossbow guy carrying it. But since he only has 3 move, he still can't scale cliffs. Oh, I never noticed this! I always saw him unable to climb cliffs and assumed he was screwed like Derrick. And since he is not technically an armor, he should not affected by the Hammer's defense negation for armor type units.Definitely Kaga's intended knight that isn't a joke. And while Sherpa can take a strong hit without getting crippled thanks to Robust, Marcel isn't all that affected by his defense being halved since it won't affect the massive defense boost of his large shields. Also, why are there chests in endgame (This is across multiple routes, including VW and an Arrow of Indra for no reason than to disappoint me), NG+ doesn't allow you to pass items on in 3H. And no, the chests are useless in AM and CF I checked. Oh, so those chests are never used in alternate chapters with that map. Wonderful. (Arrow of Indra in VW's finale, what did I do to deserve that?) I have no idea what that is, so... ..... I mean, there are some tedious af maps in Tellius (Fuck 4-3 forever), but I wouldn't call Tellius a void of maps. Neither would I. RD's part 3 Ike chapters just suck because Ike and his team are so busted that there's no need to care what happens in them at all. I just moved units forward and let the game play in the background while I did other things. Not gonna lie, it's the main reason I like the Dawn Brigade as much as I do. Their chapters are actually fun, because not everyone has +10-15 in every stat compared to the enemy. As for PoR, same principle. Everyone is so busted that before long it becomes a snoozefest. The glacial pace at which the games move does not help their case, and the emulator is incapable of speeding up much. Except for the pitfalls. Those sucked. And technically PoR BK, but I got lucky and beat him first try. I have no idea, I didn't have the energy to make it that far. Tauroneo was as far as I was able to go before I got sick of playing the slowest, easiest game in existence. Those aside, really, all of it horrible? All of PoR horrible. A bit of RD horrible. As I mentioned in the last update, he has the hidden Weakness skill, which increases his chance of being crippled. The shield is an Erzheimer item, and Lyarc is by far the easiest general to get it from, so let's do our best. It won't be easy, though. As if Lyarc's own power wasn't enough, he has this bodyguard. But as for this guy here, he is barely any stronger then Derrick, the guy with 0 bases in everything. And his Axe rank is actually quite a bit weaker. Though it's a bit more fair in that enemy spawns aren't random and you get three hits per life... it's also brutal because if you continue more than four times, you're getting a bad ending, if you don't get 5 hidden items you get the worst ending, and even if you make it through without continuing four or more times and fight the true final boss... if you really want the best ending you have to meet several requirements... not the least of which is no continues used. Naturally...
