  1. I believe this is their ending. Silas served loyally as a knight of Nohr. He was beloved by trainee knights for his great patience. After marrying, he and his wife, Selena, disappeared from records. They likely lived happily ever after. So I guess he served as a knight of Nohr for a while and then disappeared...?
  2. This is brilliant and disturbing. I hesitate asking for more.
  3. I liked Kamui more, personally. It sounds exotic and hints at his special ancestry. Corrin is just... eh. I'm sure there were better gender neutral names to choose from (sorry Lordcorrin). As far as the story is concerned, both names are a little problematic. If Garon wanted to hide your past, he wouldn't let you keep a Hoshidan name but if Suzukaze recognizes your name...yeah. I'll use them interchangeably on the forums, depending on what portmanteau I'm using. Nohrrin, Mamui, etc. I hope the next Avatar (and you know there will be one) is called Jamie so I can't get my Game of Thrones on.
  4. Not quite. If my calculations are correct. A Nyx!Velouria will have 25% mag, and that Velouria!Kana will in turn have 27% mag. The witch class bonus will bring it to 52, which isn't bad but it could be better. That said, witches have an absurdly high base magic (10, so four points higher than Nohr Noble) so it might be good enough. Elise is still a better mother for Velouria if the focus is magic, however.
  5. I'm not sure if the localized version shines more light on the incident (my impression was that it was only vaguely described) but a peace treaty signing doesn't sound like a good meet and greet for your young children. You take your children to meet allies, not "maybe not an enemy anymore?" types. Now, if there were some special context for why Sumeragi thought there wasn't a risk of danger, like a neutral party with a good reputation hosting the event (and my headcanon says Sumeragi was friends with the king of Chevalier) I'd believe it but from what I can gather from the narrative, Chevalier is essentially another territory of Nohr, far removed from Hoshidan support. That's not an event I would bring children too, least of all one as young as Kamui. Garon's words in Japanese to Sumeragi were "You fell for such a trap? How naive, King Sumeragi." The localization made him even more condescending, suggesting that "this wasn't even my best trap." Even the story seems to think Sumeragi got duped pretty easily.
  6. I haven't married a second gen character to check but it should change according to her mother. Even if you gave Velour the most magical mother (Elise) her magic would be pretty much the same as Kana's default growths (30%), ie not very good for a caster. Maybe that's "good enough" (I don't know how strong the enemies are) but it would seem a conflict of interests to have Velouria, a strongly physical leaning character, be the mother of a magical Kana. Go for physical Kana, I say. Berserker Kana
  7. Don't use Kana Velouria!Kana is going to have dismal magic, her absolute best (as a Sorcerer) will be 43% mag growth. You're going to want to either make a physical Kana or choose a different mother.
  8. Rule#137 of Fire Emblem fan theories: Every new Fire Emblem game will be considered as the possible origin story of the entire series. As Thane said above, each game has its unique lore, with the Fire Emblem in particular changing greatly from game to game. The games are obviously going to share common elements, like dragons and such but to suggest that means continuity between the games is pretty reaching. The 'strongest' theories tend to be based on 'lolmultiverse" which Awakening and Fates shoved down our throats to justify their cameos. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I find it highly unlikely the writers of any of the stories really intended for them to be part of a greater universe/world.
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGCr1CVWkE#t=00m55s But Liquid just SCREAMS Takumi. You dare point the Yato at your own brrrrrrrrother?
  10. I don't know why people keep saying magic is underwhelming. It's a weapon that can hit at 1-2 range with no penalties and it targets a stat many units are weak in. As for tanking, you have the Dragon Stone. A base dragon stone + Yato means you have +6 defense and +5 resistance. The Dragonstone+ and Upgraded Yato gives you 13 defense and 11 resistance. My +Mag/-Def Kamui at 20/13 has 20 Defense and 23 resistance. With the Yato and Dragonstone+ she has equal tanking ability as my best units, both physically and magically.
  11. Bolded 1: Can you list these positive examples of protagonists who lack agency? I'd like to know what you consider to be a well written character, Bolded 2: If you don't want people to misunderstand to whom your posts are directed at, you should specify who you are talking about.
  12. Sakura: Oh gods, Hayato lost his head in the arena! Kamui: I lost a head too, but know one cries for me. Cabbages don't grow on trees, Sakura!
  13. Y'know, I often hear people say that Robin "stole" the spotlight from Chrom, but who is to say that Chrom was the sole or even primary protagonist of Awakening? He's the Lord, sure, but the opening scene has both him and Robin fighting together and much of the first arc is still Chrom's show. I saw Robin and Chrom as being equally important, in a similar way Hector was to Eliwood.
  14. I think girls tend to be more fluid in their sexual preferences than guys are. Apart from the biology/psychology of it, it's more common socially for girls to be closer than guys (physically/emotionally). Soleil hits on girls but we don't really know to what degree they reciprocate. They might agree to meeting with her but it's unknown if they'd go as far as jumping into bed. Who wouldn't swing for Soleil?
  15. All I'm hearing is that no one wants Setsuna as a mom. Almost all of Selkie's potential mothers will leave her with good or adequate Speed and Resistance (especially if you plan on keeping her a Kitsune) but some of them give Selkie usable strength. Considering Selkie's low strength growth (30%) she needs a strong mother to make up for it. You can't kill enemies with just speed and resistance.
  16. I like how people are interpreting the OP as "Which character was the most evil" or "Which character pissed you off the most" or "Which was the worst written character" . For most evil, I'm going with Garon. He's so mustache twirlingly evil that it actively hurts his agenda. There was no reason to antagonize Kamui, and doing so just put a wedge between Garon and ALL of his children. D'oh! Iago is equally spiteful and evil but he isn't as self-defeating as Garon is. Ganz, sociopathic serial killer that he is, is merely a henchman. Garon ruined the Conquest story so he'll always be the worst character, Didn't we all.
  17. With a 5 base defense growth, I don't think that underwear is enchanted. Awakening Dark Mages, sure.
  18. How do you figure Setsuna is a good mother? Setsuna!Selkie has a measly 25 strength growth (35 after Kitsune class bonus). Her only noteworthy stats would be speed and resistance.
  19. I like these. My headcanon is that Garon let Kamui keep his name to distance him from his blood-related children who of course have Nohrian names.
  20. Yato buffs apply whether the weapon is equipped or not, it just has to be in your inventory. As someone else said, magic is still useful as a reliable 1-2 ranged weapon. Unlike the Levin Sword and Dragon Stone, tomes can have a variety of effects for different combat situations. Moonlight/Sheep Spirit for self healing, Calamity Gate for Weapon Triangle coverage, Mjolnir for crit boosting, Horse Spirit for Speed/Defense/Resistance buffs etc.
  21. My headcanons: Ryoma marries Scarlet after they bond during the war, and as a gesture of more positive Hoshidan/Norhian relations. Camilla develops serious attachment/trust issues after the concubine wars and her attraction to Kamui is based on a need for a "safe" sibling to love. Garon is a loving father who became hardened by the difficulties of leadership in Nohr. The ability to change into a dragon is a recessive trait that people in the royal families sometimes have. Wow, that puts him in a dark light. "Hey Hayato, I killed your dad on purpose and killed your mom on accident using the magic in these books. Maybe you could teach it to your daughter?" Sigh... Now I want, no, NEED, to see a Nohrian war propaganda poster that reads "Join the Nohrian war effort! Victory is Garonteed!" with Garon clenching his fist, looking proudly towards the viewer and a squadron of Wyvern riders flying over. But yeah I'd be more on board with Nohr if the war was about necessary resources.
  22. Look, just because there are two versions, units you can capture, train, trade and breed, a feature where you can pet your minions, and animals that fight for you, doesn't mean it's like Pokemon. Really guys. You can't sleep with your animal friends in Pokemon.
  23. You have plenty of competent healers and physical units so a magic attacker is a good role to fill. As a Nohr Noble, my inventory was: Yato Mjolnir Lightning Moonlight Dragonstone+ It was helpful for almost any situation. If you want a physical Kamui, Hoshidan Noble is a good choice.
  24. Did the Japanese players have problems with the gameplay, or was it mostly complaints about the pricing model? It's not the structure of the game at fault, it's the writing quality. Fully developed (as in full length Fire Emblem titles) routes should offer MORE story, not less individually. That's 3 different perspectives, 3 times as much potential characterization and world building, 3 times as much...time to develop the greater plot of the game. That plot elements were gutted from the first two routes to incentivize the 3rd route was entirely the fault of the writers.
  25. This. I do like that the children in Fates are not automatically better than the parents, and that the level of the children scales with your progress in the story so you can do them at your leisure.
