  1. The distinction I would make between Ike and Alm is that while both have some notable forebears, Alm is specifically destined for greatness and is implied to be naturally better than his peasant friends. Ike meanwhile doesn't have any unique powers that we know of and earned his place in the world. Micaiah is an interesting premise of a girl who must lead the resistance of a former antagonistic country, is forced to bend her morals to defend her people and herself is conflicted because of how people in her country would treat her if they knew what she was. FE Jean of Arc is pretty cool. Corrin probably wins the gold medal for the premise, and is also the worst execution of any premise. A kidnapped royalty who must choose between the morally grey people who raised him or his blood family from the morally white country. There was a lot of room for personal drama and exploring the values that shape the fate of the protagonist. There was also the matter of his dragon powers that could have been really interesting. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT WENT. There are two things. The first is that it's a fairly unique protagonist (a commoner instead of a noble) as far as FE is concerned and second, his premise includes a meaningful character arc which is different from the more story driven plots that focus on stopping the bad guy over the protagonist developing.
  2. That's because it's not the villain in the story, Nergal is. Summoning dragons was Nergal's ambition and putting down the dragon he summoned was the final push to ending that ambition. You act like a flying spaghetti monster showed up as the boss, not the thing that the player has been trying to prevent the entire second half of the game. "Unnecessary dragon boss" eh?
  3. I don't believe so. If the old thread stays dead, I can make a new one and request for sprites that I'm missing. I've contacted a mod, let's see what they have to say about it.
  4. Not a mod, just the thread creator/absentee manager. I wish I would have gotten a heads up before the thread was nuked. I still have most of the sprites people created saved to my computer but there was a lot of information in the OP that was not saved anywhere else.
  5. Myrrh is my favorite. I'm really fond of classic western dragons. Ninian is a pretty wingless version, however. I'd love to have a black dragon Laguz like Kurth. The white dragon Laguz with feather wings in the concept art is pretty elegant too.
  6. Things heat up in Arvis' NTR Tap Dungeon. You vs the Emperor of Flame she tells you not to worry about.
  7. It's not a big deal in the sense that an excuse plot will "suffice" for a mass crossover, but I think they can do better. There is a treasure trove of possible interactions between characters and new stories to tell, so I consider it a shame not to capitalize on that. I, having played every English game in the series, find the story and use of characters uninspired, what should that say for people who only have FEH for their perspective on Fire Emblem? Granblue has both original characters and characters pulled from other series. They frequently write self contained, episodic side stories as well a main narrative. It's not fantastic but it blows FEH out of the water.
  8. What B skill would a +Atk, -HP Raven appreciate, Wrath or Desperation? He has the unique weapon refine and Fury equipped.
  9. FTP players are currently able to field a team with Fjorm, the free water blessing, the TT water blessing and the TT wind blessing. We're probably getting VIke as well (IS all but demanded we vote for him). I'm wondering how limiting player choices is going to enhance the mode. Unless you whale or get lucky on Legendary banners, you will be forced to pick a favorite team and only use that team. I thought the Blessing system was already clunky and exclusive. I'll wait and see but this seems like a further step down the wrong path.
  10. Do they really need a boost? DC weapons are great and are used by everyone who has access to one. Do you see many Black Knights without Alondite? How about manaketes without Lightning Breath (besides Myrrh)? It takes rare SI to get DC on other units, I think you're doing pretty well to have it built into your weapon.
  11. I think the problem for the writing team is that they don't see a difference between Story and Support Xander. The Camus archetype has been a long standing tradition for Fire Emblem but the underlying principle that the well written ones have (I'd list Selena and Lloyd among them) is that they are sympathetic antagonists. With Xander they seem to have gone the route that any amount of villainy (it's hard to be hyperbolic with how evil Garon and Veronica are) is negated by 'noble' qualities like bravery and loyalty. That could be said about any GHB unit. The way I see it, a unit without a nature isn't really different than one with a nature besides a lack of variety in build options. if Xander's stat spread was 44/29/27/37/17 and given a +Atk/-Spd nature, it would be right where it is now at 44/32/24/37/17. It's the choice of the developers to give them a viable stat line. The only GHB unit who got particularly screwed by this was F!Robin, and that's only in comparison to M!Robin because they have identical stats at neutral. Xander and Camus are still pretty good, anyway. They are horses and have DC weapons, which make them unique in the game. I think their decline in popularity has more to do with a lack of availability and the aggressive player phase orko meta.
  12. Not sure how unpopular this is but despite some of the praise it has gotten over recent developments, I don't think Heroes has a good story. It moves at a snail's pace, character depth and development is minimal, and at its best moments, it's a typical Fire Emblem sort of story, nothing to write home about. It's a mobile game, so I don't expect it to have an amazing narrative but I know they can do better. Granblue Fantasy is another gaccha game that pumps out more developed side stories and main story developments in a month than Heroes did in a year. Also, Xander and Veronica are still horrible people, and people seem to have forgotten that they are totally chill with enslaving the multiverse just because Veronica is ronery and Xander is "so noble, so brave".
  13. I think it's a matter of scale. I consider SoV to be problematic, but not without its merrits. Some interesting themes, albeit clumsily handled. Conquest is a constant barage of bad writing and I find myself more in favor of ('more' being a relative term) the safer but decently written Birthright. Conquest would have to be magnitudes less offensive to make me give them the "At least you tried" reward. I'm closer in agreement to you if you want to compare Conquest to Revelation, however. Revelation was too boring for me to finish.
  14. I don't think it's that difficult to imagine. As of the latest story chapter, she's already at odds with the Muspell crew. Her joining the player seems like it ought to happen even before CYL units are released.
  15. Marth actually has more votes than Ephraim if you combine his SD and New Mystery votes. Meanwhile Ike and Eirika get alts just because.
  16. Well, there certainly was an upset on the girls side. The reign of boobs is over until Camilla and Loki win next year .
  17. I won't complain about free stuff but it's disappointing that we can't get a unit of our choosing. One man's treasure is another man's trash.
  18. I want to vote for Myrrh (if only I knew she would win so I can save my orbs on her banner) but Hector would be welcome as well. I'm not as keen on RD!Ike. I have two versions of him already.
  19. Maybe in conjunction with Gaccha, but I'd rather not pay $5 or whatever for every single character I want. Gaccha let's me play for free.
  20. Ayra Starter Pack? I still wouldn't buy it. I now use the Lyn. I think Hector or BIke would be solid choices. Good units on their own and useful SI options if you prefer. I don't think these words belong in the same sentence.
  21. Looking at my 5* characters, not including repeats and skill fodder, I have 27 males and 38 females. I've been playing FE since Blazing Sword so I'm more used to male slanted games and have many favorites (Rath and Canas, come home). As long as a character has good art and viable stats, I'll build them. The biggest problem to me is that they're turning to non-seasonal alts (CYL is player chosen so it gets a pass) really early in the game's life. A lot of male characters are going to get passed over (rest in peace Knoll) so IS can keep pumping out marketable female characters. It's sometimes not even necessary, as some people noted. The recent SS banner had amazing star power with Myrrh and L'arachel. They didn't need Eirikalter to sell that banner but they did. Minor characters available at launch might not be the greatest, but at least they got in the game. I like to think that playing as one's favorites is a major appeal to this game.
  22. She was a bench warmer for me until she got the weapon refinement and Wrath, now regular Lyn is one of my most fun characters to use, especially together with Guidance. I'm down with most of her design but what really irks me is that patch around half her waist where there is no cloth. It doesn't have a purpose or serve to enhance her aesthetic. It just looks like the character designer forgot to color that part in. Her arbitrary mysteriousness doesn't do it for me either.
