  1. Just free pulled a +HP -Atk Minerva. Any ideas for her build? I could go LaD to patch up her Atk or Fury for a QR build. I'll probably give her a +3 atk seal
  2. This thread has 34 pages now. There is also a huge increase in fan art and associated memes. People care.
  3. Re: Gauntlet Mechanics, You can either have "match decided by a coin flip" or "popularity cruise control, predetermined winners". The only interesting matches in either system are accidents rather than design. The Gaunlet isn't going to be a legitimate competition until they do away with team sizes and focus on performance. Also, regarding secret voting, that would be even less of an interesting mode. Who would care about a sport where you can only see the ending? I'm hoping Ninian wins, but I'll accept it of she loses to an upset. It's a silly, flawed game mode.
  4. I upgraded Hardy Bearing to level 2 and want to invest in Distant Defense. So... is Hardy Bearing lv 2 at all different from lv 1? The text is exactly the same...
  5. Back in the day, feathers were a slow grind to gather with 5* promotions being the result of a lot of saving up. With new modes and quests, however, feathers are much more plentiful for the dedicated player and some people seem to have more feathers than they're even able to reasonably spend. I have around 66k feathers and I know others who have many more. I'm still at a point where there is "reasonable spending" left to make. I still have a 4* Alfonse and Anna that should be promoted and I'm waiting on the fodder to promote and pass some 5* locked weapons. After that, however, I'll be left to mostly "unreasonable spending", that is spending 20k feathers to get lv3 skills (a meager gain over lv2 skills but a gain nontheless) and finally merges. Most new characters are pulled at 5* rarity so I'm running out of things to do. Where are you on your feather usage?
  6. Why are Mercenaries not always mercenaries? Why is Samus a "bounty hunter" when she's more involved with stopping horrifying aliens? Sometimes the Japanese just choose things because they sound cool. I'm not going to say that Camila's wyvern is definitely not a draco-zombie, but I prefer to wait until things are specifically mentioned (and necromancy is kind of a big deal) before I put much stock into them.
  7. A manakete VG would be nice. I'd be tremendously bored if it were just another Fates promotion.
  8. I think that's just popular a headcanon that got circulated around so much people took it for official. It's not really clear what Faceless are either. All we know is that they are created by Nohrian mages. Nohr does have a good deal of things that would work for Halloween tho. I think Velouria or Flannel could make a debut here. Obviously, we haven't gotten enough Nohrian seasonal characters yet.
  9. Favorite: "Disgusting" Least Favorite: Hm... maybe some of the Sponge Emblem ones because I never watched the show.
  10. For promoted units, I think it should be 1 weapon for specialists (Sniper, Swordmaster, etc.), 2 for most classes and 3 for a few select "weapon masters" (Master of Arms, Great Knight, etc). Letting units use too many weapon types makes them overlap with other classes too much. I like what Fates did by having weapon ranks set at A for the main weapon and B for the secondary. The only thing I would change is ensure that units will only promote to classes that use their starting weapon as the main weapon (Fighter!Heroes had Axes capped at B, which was a problem). Alternatively, a character's starting weapon would determine their max weapon rank.
  11. I'd prefer Anima/Light/Dark, but if were are sticking to Wind/Fire/Thunder, I'd only want separate weapon ranks if each magic school were diverse and interesting. Tomes that are only different because of slight stat variations don't need to be in separate schools. There should be a reason to invest more heavily into one type of magic or another.
  12. A bold opinion stated in the OP there. As for the games, Fates has the worst story of the whole series but some of the best gameplay (barring Revelations) so...sometimes better than Awakening?
  13. I'm of the opinion no that more characters/skills in the 4* pool is going to make the game more interesting. With the exception of some skills that are one of a kind (example, DC and CC, vs RuoarOwl which has blue and green variants in the 4* pool), most skills should be available via characters that can be summoned at 4*. What does it matter to most players that IS "buffed" Killer weapons by adding Slayer weapons, if those weapons are locked to really difficult to summon characters? Wrathful staff could make healers relevent again? Hah! I hope you have orbs for when 5* Genny is on a banner because it's going to take a lot of luck otherwise (and who goes to Colorless hell willingly?). So many content updates and most people won't even get to use all the new skills. It's not like these characters in the 4* would make the game too easy either. You still need to pull the character (half a year later, I've pulled 1 Cordelia) and spend the feathers to promote them to 5*. Cancel Affinity removes a major threat to strong archers, and I rarely see it EVEN THOUGH Mathilda is available at 4*. It's not going to break the game.
  14. I'm a little confused here. Aren't all characters that you can roll for either 3-4*, 4-5* or 5* exclusive? How is the first part of the list different from the next part? Overall, I agree. Most characters with inheritable weapons should be less than 5* exclusive (Ninian and Azura being the exceptions because dancers are so good).
  15. I find this dream to be even worse than other examples because the game treats it as a premonition but no part of it (besides Alm fighting Rudolf) comes true or is averted based on Celica's actions. Alm doesn't die, his friends don't die and Rudolf never gets Duma enchanced. What is treated as a serious motivation for Celica turns out to be a meaningless dream that worries her for nothing.
  16. That's an acceptable view point, but I have some other thoughts. It's true that many games feature firearms but I think Fire Emblem could still have a unique spin on them. Modern/futuristic guns are of course completely different than what FE would do and even games that have spells & swords + guns, they usually have more of a steampunk feel to them. I could see guns in a FE setting to be treated as historical more than fantasy, the natural progression of technology rather than "magic shot out of a rifle". Concerning their implementation, many have suggested that firearms would not be able to double, simulating long reload times, so archers would have their own niche still.
  17. We really should have gotten a Hoshidan Summer Festival banner. I would have liked to see Rinka, and Takumi/Oboro in yukata, but alas. IS really seems to favor the Nohrian characters more. Before Azura, Olivia and Laslow got alts, I would have preferred other dancers like Reyson and Tethys. The Awakening/Fates Conquest pandering continues.
  18. Hm, Axura would be nice but I don't want to pull Inigo. If this thing lasts all month (no Halloween?) I might spend my orbs on the Crimea banner and save up for this in October. It's funny how CYL was "dress up as dad" day, and now we have Inigo and Shigure dressing as their moms.
  19. The potential for her is limitless. We still need Smash!Lucina, Cipher!Lucina, Amiibo!Lucina and Warriors!Lucina. Maybe Lucina cosplaying as Lyn too.
  20. That would be dreadful. I don't think they're ever going to intentionally make an avatar do morally ambiguous things.
  21. See, I could get on board with this. SD for Japan, Fates for recency and Tellius or Elibe for veterans. It's painfully simple.
  22. This is just silly. You say that we already filled our variety quota and we mustn't try anything "too different". Laguz have a distinct transformation mechanic and some could argue that non-dragon shapeshifters are very un-Fire Emblem. Cat girls in Fire Emblem? Get that weaboo shit out of here! /s Everything "comes out of nowhere" until it's made. If you want a story reason, it's a traditional FE setting but technology is advancing it only took 10,000 years of feudalism to figure out and some societies are trying out new things to get ahead. Your paranoia about the weapon triangle being messed up is unfounded. Maybe it would be flawed, or maybe it would be amazing. You'd just have to wait and see.
  23. You're taking my original point "Maybe it would be a fun addition. It's not like all future games have to feature guns", and turning it into "Any kind of variety is good. Just keep adding more crazy shit to Fire Emblem!" And I don't know why.
  24. Fair enough, I'm not going to insist that you like her. If you think her flaws outweigh her positives, that's your opinion, but if you want to say that she's a weak leader (by her choices or personality), especially relative to every leader besides Caineghis, Tibarn and RD!Ike, that's objectively false.
