I can't seem to edit my above post to include this with the spoiler text. I mean, I can edit, but it won't let me move past it. So, just merge this with my apologies.

I read Cages last night. I really enjoyed it. I almost wish some of these were on FF.net so I could add them to my favorites list.

If you go to our website home page (serenesforest.net), there's a new Scribbles link that directs you to the galleries under the media tab. We'll be adding the 2015 entries too, but you'll be able to easily find any of the entries you liked if you ever want to read them again.

  2. Oh and special thanks to @Wist and our friends at the Tanooki @christianponte for donating to our prize budget! It's unlikely we'd have been able to fill it out so well without their help, and they're not even a part of our staff, so it was especially kind of them.

Our SF/Tanooki FE podcast is still in the works as well; we're aiming pretty high with it as far as partnerships and guests go (including content the creative side of the FE community will enjoy!), so it's taking time to get everything put into place. Hopefully we can deliver something that you guys will be eager to tune into every week!

Or, no special formatting.  I'd rather not create a separate Google account specifically for Scribbles, if I can help it.

It wouldn't have to be google docs, it could be anywhere you can upload a story we can link to with the formatting you want.

@Qilin yeah, that's a possibility too, although I wonder how many people would comment if it's not our primary method of viewing the submissions.

  4. Yup, I think next time we're just going to make using google docs or something for written works a requirement, since that way it'll be presented without us needing to manually add the formatting. It didn't occur to me it'd be an issue for ones written on the SF forum because we used the forum for the event last year, which means everything pasted over without an issue.

  5. If you click a picture and scroll down there's still a comment box. But yeah, you need to make a separate account for that because the site is technically separate from our forum. For stories a lot of people submitted us stuff written on other sites, and to preserve the stories the way they submitted them it'd be hard to have a comment section without using the forum (which a lot of people didn't like).

edit: and feel free to discuss stuff here lol!

Gallery is up! I'll open voting in a week-week and a half or so to give people time to check everything out; lots of stories!

Seems like a mistake was made with one and it isn't clickable, will get it fixed when he's online again.

Great job this year everyone; lots of cool submissions! Sorry for the delays :P.

  7. I don't want to give away personal details, but he's recovering from a surgical procedure that took place around the same time our event ended. He told me he'd try to get it up today, we'll see what happens.

We need him to do the gallery because I don't have permissions outside of the forum (and our other admin is obviously very busy right now with all of the news/new game info/data), so it's not really an issue something like google drive could solve :P. Was just an unfortunate occurrence that lined up with our event. I considered using a forum section again like last year when I heard the news, but I know that bothered some users and I promised the gallery this year, so I figured I'd wait it out.

    Thanks for being patient guys!

It's excruciating waiting for the gallery, but then I remember people who submitted in February have been waiting ever since, and I feel better.

Sorry! Yeah, having two medical issues in our two admins' families within the span of a month isn't something we could've predicted, unfortunately. We're a really small team for how big of a site we are, so something like this happening can cripple us. Have been slowly expanding our team for the past year or so, will be in a better spot soon I'm sure!

Jyo's promised to have the gallery up within a couple of days, so there's not much of a wait left :P.

  9. Just as an update, without wanting to give away any personal info, Jyo's (our site admin) gotten back to me and isn't going to be able to start the gallery up for a couple of days; he's in rough shape. Once he's feeling better we'll get things going quickly. In the meantime you guys can keep sending me summaries/descriptions for your piece if you want to add one. Still a couple without names too!

Sorry again for the delay! We've had a string of bad luck recently it seems, haha.

Where will we be able to see and vote for everyone's works?

We'll be adding everything to a gallery on the website this time because people felt the forum section didn't offer equal visibility to all submissions the previous year, hopefully it'll be up by tomorrow or the day after. Voting will take place on the forum again.

    Re: Submissions not included

We still plan to let any submissions not included be featured in the gallery assuming there was just a simple mistake involved in its exclusion, it'll be in a different section of it (sort of like an " honorable mentions" section you'd see in these type of events) and added after voting ends to avoid confusion.

There's one submission we're going to allow in this year that I wasn't sure about, but we don't really have a rule against it. Not sure if we will next time, I'll think about it more when we aren't nearing the end of the current event, lol!

PS: There are 7 misc entries, fret not!

i believe it's because of a certain ad that runs on this site. if this starts happening, try searching for an ad that you can x out of (for me, usually underneath the toolbar; it's an all-black "ad" with the option to close it), promptly x out of it, and see if it'll work for you. this is what I've been doing and it resolves the problem.

    @Jyosua

  12. Just finished organizing; little over 60 submissions this time around. More or less what I expected, and definitely not a bad turnout! Asked for names of submissions without them, then we'll get the gallery set up in a couple days after giving them a chance to respond.

In the meantime, if anyone would like to add a description or summary to their submission, feel free to PM it to me.

  13. Gonna be organizing all of our submissions tonight. If anyone's is left unnamed, then send me a PM with a name you'd like to use, otherwise I'll be PMing you to ask myself throughout the night. Anything not named I'll give a quick name to myself when the gallery goes up in the next couple days.

After that we'll be giving people time to check out all of the submissions, and then we'll be starting voting.

  14. We've only ever accepted donations once, and that was to pay for a large server upgrade that we were in need of after we had an unexpected increase in activity due to Awakening's popularity. We raised all of it in under a day, and are very grateful to our community for it!

SF makes enough money (and then some) from our traffic to pay for all of our costs. If we were ever to start accepting donations, I imagine it would be to expand our presence at important official events (thus providing more personal content) and to start hosting more events ourselves for the FE community. I don't think that's necessarily a bad idea, but I do wonder if anyone would actually donate for that. We've never really talked about it, and have never entertained the idea of accepting donations before; if it isn't for the purpose of providing our users content that wouldn't otherwise be possible, then we'll almost certainly never do it.

    …I had a question…I had one…nope, it's gone. Ah well.

Glad to see there'll be some written competition! Hopefully my entry holds its own against all you experienced writer-type folkses, and I can't wait to read everyone's stuff!

WAIT I GOT THE QUESTION BACK By the way, Tangerine, do we each get one vote for each type of entry(written, image, etc.) or will we only get the one vote to decide which category is worthy of our attention, or are you gonna be really insane and do it like CYL - one vote a day? 97% certain it won't be the last one, that would be a nightmare to get set up, but had to ask just in case.

There's total freedom in voting. You could vote for every single submission if you wanted to. Some people elect to vote for their top 5, some vote for top 10, some vote for everything they liked, some vote only for what they feel most deserve the win. I like this voting system for a community event like this.

Just sent in my misc entry. Tell me there is more than 3 of us, winning a prize by default would feel so wrong.

Much fewer misc entries this year, but the drawing and writing categories are turning out just as strong. I'm not sure if there are less than three, I'll know when I get everything organized for the gallery.

  16. I don't have much to contribute to an art thread, but I wanted to at least post to let you know that I totally check out the thread every time I see that you've updated it lol. Really like your art style, especially the portraits!

  17. You might consider running scans with your preferred malware/virus scanner to help rule out the latter. Malwarebytes is a solid free malware scanner with a high rate of detection if you don't have a paid suite (and is typically used alongside paid suites anyway).

Running your browser in safe mode/incognito would help identify malicious browser extensions that may be the cause.

  18. This is how we decided to manage the forums back when we created the combined sections. While the games are still active we give them their own section; once they're a few releases or console generations behind (depending on how active the sections are) we make a new "Era" section to combine them into. There's also the fact that they aren't done releasing 3DS titles, so it'd be premature to combine them under this system already.

The exception is the NES and SNES section, which has been combined since we started the forum due to the age of the games, and so it would take a great amount of effort to sort through all of the posts and split them into subsections like we've done with the GBA/GCWii/DS sections.
