  1. With Engage, it's Alear's character design, but that died out. As for the rest, hardly anyone comes close to Rhea, Edelgard, and probably Tharja; since everyone else more or less fits neatly into their roles.
  2. Probably, but I won't be surprised if the the former is also called some variant of "negro."
  3. Only if you were born in the late 1700s. It's more along the lines of insulting foreigners than anything else
  4. At least that's something that can be flipped, though. Probably because of how obnoxious some of our politicians are; which isn't exactly fair, considering what went on in Canada and Brazil. As for Europe...Well, there's Putin trying to Ukraine into his retirement gift. I heard " USonion" or something. But after hearing it in Iron Harvest, it just felt forced. I'd say that the European Union exists, but that's more of an international attempt at cooperation than an actual government.
  5. Yes, but we're one of the few countries who are named after the continent it's on, so the name kind of stuck
  6. Well, the good news is that I finally finished that training mission in Brodia. Nearly everyone managed to get a few points in speed, def, skill, and some other stuff that I really didn't catch. Of course, the only people who were left standing was Louis and Alear; but Fogado almost survived with this Radiant Bow that I had lying around. Diamant lasted slightly longer than I expected him, but that was mainly because he was busy breaking people and nearly killing them, this time around. But I also used some Second Seals to reclass some people since they were maxing out their levels. Hooray for retrying!
  7. Yeah, it really says an lot when Kagetsu is an better swordsman than Diamant (who keeps getting himself killed)
  8. I'm kind of thinking about it, but I'm on the verge of benching half my team, lmao
  9. Like what? I mean, I have around 11k gold. But I kind of hate how reclassing works in this game
  10. Does Jade actually works as an General? Because I'm kind of bored of watching Louis to carry my team while everyone else does their own thing or outright dies. Right now, I'm falling my way through an training mission and with an contrast of 28 Def to Louis' 42, I'm being to have some second thoughts. Idk, nearly everyone else feels like an glass cannon in this game, aside from an handful of people
  11. I liked ones for the 3DS games, except for SoV getting rid of the minimal (not that I actually needed it). 3H was initially an cluttered mess of spreadsheets until I got used to it. With Engage, well it's certainly convenient. Only thing that I have against it is that it doesn't display all of the Sacred Twins' skills.
  12. Well, it's better to expand that energy over an fictional character than over an actual person. We're all going to Hell, anyways. Well, in all fairness, there's an handful of other characters from the franchise that are equally as bad in terms of character design. Honestly, I really don't expect most people to have an understanding of what goes on in an lot of games, but one's character design can send out quite an few messages an lot faster than it takes to read an few excerpts from the game.
  13. For SoV, I'm kind of inclined to say that it would be Celica's group on account of how powerful magic is compared to conventional attacks. But this isn't really factoring in how the terrain and most of her maps provides an series of choke points whereas Alm has to live through the cavalry spam, an couple of times. With Fates, it kind of depends on the weaponry involved; but Hoshido relies an lot more on stat manipulation and evasion than Nohr does; so the results are kind of murky. I'm not sure if they actually get an actual tank that isn't Ryoma, for one. But without an good combination of abilities, certain counters or shuriken spam, I'm half expecting them to lose against their Nohrian counterparts. With 3H, the Golden Deer are essentially out of that race because the only broken people that they have is Lysithea, Ignatz, and Lorenz's heirloom. The Lions get the boar and his handler, which can easily kill anything. And outside of Ingrid, most of them are fairly good at their roles in combat. Now, if you pitted them against the Eagles, it kind of depends on who gets the first strike in and kills off their mages; otherwise, that fight can go either way once Dimitri is downed.
  14. So far, I really don't have much of an favorite map, yet; and I'm halfway through the game. They all look good and everything, but it kind of felt like that they've could have been an little bit longer, early on. Like the siege level at Brodia Castle, for instance. Outside of Chapter 11 or 17 there really isn't an lot of challenging content in the sense of what you see is mostly all there is to deal with. But I'm certainly loving the chain attack spam, someone with Lyn can easily solo an lot of stuff with the doubles active. Plus, Lucina can also provide an free dodge or two. The music is genuinely great; but the story, not so much.
  15. I never played the original; but I never really had any crippling problems in the remake.
  16. I would, but it would result in me calling an imaginary person lazy for being unwilling to do the legwork. Plus, there really isn't an argument to be made about it outside of explaining why you shouldn't be complaining about something that the game technically gives you the answer to. Engage in 3H actually lists the characters Hit and Avo, it's just hard to notice with how cluttered the UI is in Engage. Come to think of it, I think the combined weapon Mt & attack stat thing is kind of new; can't really remember if 3H did the same thing Which is what, exactly?
  17. Never made it that far. It might be interesting if Bunet was magically inclined. But an free engage with Celica means sounds kind of useful, because hey, you have an boosted mage, it's time to keep blasting stuff. It's kind of one of those things where you need an certain skillset in order to thoroughly appreciate things. Like you need an good sense of spatial reasoning to handle most of the Zelda games and nearly anything that doesn't have an map. Math is generally used for RPGs and min-maxing shit. Hand-eye coordination is for platformers and action games...
  18. This is an core part of the XCOM experience, and probably an number of straightforward RPGs that I haven't heard of. Along with an shitload of tabletop games. And Yu-Gi-Oh, if you want something that's still around (somehow). This is technically true, because the stats on your character's spreadsheets get fed into an slightly complicated formula that the average person doesn't really care about because it's usually balanced to where there's usually an way to hurt something. But Fire Emblem isn't one of those series. Sure, you really shouldn't be overly concerned about the exact DPS rate in an RTS because your dudes are supposed to die...Eventually. And the other stuff doesn't offer as much feedback as FE does. But if you want to be that guy who was angry that his Louis died to an mage, then go ahead. It's not like that the game is passively warning you by displaying the opposition's stats or anything. Yes, but have you ever reached an point where the boss has to die within an certain timeframe? And the only way to do accomplish it is to dive with an certain unit or two. She never really had much of an chance to be useful. But outside of thinning the heard or assassinating an certain enemy, she really isn't all that great. I kind of hate Lyn more, tbh
  19. Isn't sizing up your opponent the main selling point of an strategy game? Plus, keeping whatever player-phase only kind of helps prevent you from breaking the game. Like Sol or Great Aether consistently proccing in Awakening
  20. The main drawback with farming skirmishes is that they'll progressively get stronger, no matter what you do
