Ranking each game by classes: Archers/Snipers
Armchair General replied to Whisky's topic in General Fire Emblem
Technically, they're great with the increased range. But the main problem is that there's hardly anything notable that they have an advantage against and that the statline for Leon and Python are kind of underwhelming. Like, it's great for harassing an specific enemy or outright forcing an arcanist to become inactive (I'm fucking serious, they'll just stand there once their hp goes under an certain number and nobody's around to heal them); but outside of Hunter's Volley, Parthia, and an few other combat arts. There really isn't much to say, aside that they're more or less confined to their role as an support unit. With Engage, at least Alcryst gets Luna and Fogado stays evasive in his promoted custom class. Other than that, I'm not entirely enthusiastic about archery in this game. Sure, they're perfect against fliers and whatnot. But I'd rather just use the Radiant Bow to get around some of the stat issues that I'm going through. With this one, archery is more or less of an tool to actually bully the enemy with, provided that you have Close Counter on or don't exclusively use bows on your character. Other than that, the thought of converting Dimitri or Edelgard into an Sniper is kind of hilarious , though -
One change to ruin the gameplay.

Introduce an all-party AoE spell that's enemy-exclusive? -
Goldmary, in her C support with Etie, fittingly enough. Although that incident was quickly forgotten about in their next conversation. But seriously, I kind of found that chain to be kind of entertaining and disturbing. Hopefully the ones in the Fell Xenologue are written better.

Personal skills, would you like to fix them?

Personal skills, would you like to fix them?
Armchair General replied to Setsuko's topic in Fire Emblem: Engage
Yeah, compared to 3H and Fates, most of the Personal skills tend to provide either two bonuses or provide an boost to either their allies or themselves whenever an certain type of unit is next to them. With Engage, there's an mild slant towards increasing one's attack power or for dominating player phase. I think that the reason why they've cut back on the quality of the skills is that some of the Emblems already provides an accompanying bonus to accuracy, evasion, Speed...Plus, with an deployment slot of around 14; there isn't an lot of wiggle room on who gets to do what. -
Mono-Weapon Classes. Why are they kinda lame?
Armchair General replied to AnonymousSpeed's topic in Fire Emblem: Engage
In all fairness, I think it's kind of an extremely situational skill unless you're planning for it or your being rushed by quite an few enemies. I think it was meant to offset the fact that Bow Knights have an slightly worse combination of max stats when it comes to accuracy -
Mono-Weapon Classes. Why are they kinda lame?
Armchair General replied to AnonymousSpeed's topic in Fire Emblem: Engage
I'm pretty sure that they've just included them just so they can pad out the class roster. In fact, the only thing that actually tries to be different is the Fighters that you see early on. Plus, it's kind of chilling that an Berserker doesn't get any bonuses to their crit rate; in fact, all you're getting is an maximum of 3 points of Str over an Warrior with an Berserker. And Smash+ instead of dealing 50% more damage to disarmed opponents... Almost had me thinking that they had the skills mixed up, at one point -

Well, all the devs have to do is create some more siege maps and make it an "kill boss" with an absurd amount of reinforcements. I also think that it's kind of unusual that an medieval fantasy game doesn't regularly include what happens when you lose an fight or provides an alternate condition for losing one, but that's just me.

A brief look at Fire Emblem's history with zombies
Armchair General replied to Jotari's topic in General Fire Emblem
Wait, we get to play as an actual goddess? Faceless are an different breed of monsters as far as I'm concerned. I would say that he's cloned, but that wouldn't explain why he's looks like an walking corspe and 10 Elites are just faceless generics -
At least it's more responsible than hiring an bunch of babysitters and throwing them in an pocket dimension of an pocket dimension for an few weeks

Fire Emblem Engage General Questions Thread
Armchair General replied to Azz's topic in Fire Emblem: Engage
I think it's an fascinator but they normally aren't as elaborate as her's -
So,right now I have an Iron Blade, the Greataxe that came with an free chef attached to it, plus whatever else that I looted and out of all of them the only one that I like is the Hurricane Axe and watching people die to it on their own turn, especially the fliers. They really love dying to that thing for some reason. Now the (minor) problem is that it's fucking heavy and I really haven't gotten around to pairing it with Leif to see if it saves someone from being doubled (but let's face it, it'll probably won't). But I'm kind of fine with it because, hey, shit happens. At any rate, I'm kind of debating on whether or not it's actually worth it dumping an lot of cash on something that semi-reliably kills people or just try to get forge some more decent weapons or something. But in an way, most of them are just there to look imposing. In fact, I really don't remember the opposition actually carrying these weapons

What's wrong with just using her as an extra healer or an extra mage? It's not like there's an shortage of armored units or anything.

Sigurd is certainly an niche one. I haven't really made much use of him like that

This lietmotfish thing is out of hand.

Which songs are you talking about? -
I think it depends on the map, tbh. Since the effect is capped at 5 kills and there's at 30 enemies on an given map once you get Lyn; I'd say that you're kind of pushing it when you have 5 or 6 units. But it's kind of justifiable to have it on most of your front-liners, in an way. As for what else it goes well that isn't Alacrity, it's kind of hard to say. Since stacking it with Dodge from the twins or Marth's Avoid bonuses might be overkill.
-
Well, it certainly fills in the "armored mage" concept that one guy occasionally makes an thread about. But I was kind of expecting it to look more like an mortar that's already set up in this vid than someone waving an giant cannon around. But at any rate, it looks like the DLC is more or less designed to trivialize Maddening if that's the only time that we will see enemy cannoneers. And I'm kind of concerned about just how accurate it actually is, since they threw in an skill that destroys(?) your weapon for something that you want killed.

This is by far one of the easier (but longer) chapters in the game, and someone managed to fuck it up, lmao

If I'm right, someone accurately translated the Japanese script, the mods refused to greenlight certain aspects of it, so someone reposted it elsewhere or something.
