  1. Resonance is an pretty weird skill in the sense that it's one of the few that you can actually kill yourself with, the game doesn't really factor in if you would have survived or not. And I'm not sure if Echoes does the same thing, considering how it's entirely possible for an Arcanist to lose his counterattack if you push his health below an certain threshold
  2. I'm pretty sure that Skirmishes just flipped the deployment slots on you with some of the original enemies' starting locations. Sure, it's challenging; but there's only 2 or 3 maps that I've seen that are naturally difficult to defend
  3. Honestly, I just used the Corrin ring so you can charm more people with it. Plus, there's the side activities across the floating island; but those are kind of boring
  4. With nearly all of my army dead after reseting an few times. While it isn't as cruel as the Chapter 11(?) map, you're split into three groups of 4 across the two open areas and the hallway. There's miasma everywhere. So yeah, someone was high programming that map for an skirmish.
  5. So does anyone have an list of easy maps to farm? Solm Castle is kind of doable, along with Firene's castle. Brodia's courtyard requires some clever position; but half my team dies on the training mission. The cathedral is kind of good, provided that I can hold the doorway for an certain amount of time. And I also liked Solm's Northern Fortress...when I was playing through the story; I took one look at the Skirmish deployment locations and the went,"You know what? Fuck you, game."
  6. It was something along the lines of "people who serve me only fail me once" It's actually been while since I touched the game. But where I'm at, I'm under the impression that she's deliberately letting the heroes find all of the rings, since they barely made an move on Solm, beforehand At least people like Vader have an reason to do stuff like that, but it mainly exists in Empire Strikes Back and that one season of Rebels. But it still raises the question of how do you deal with the Peter Principle, though
  7. I would say Star Wars, but that horse has been beaten long into an mausoleum. There's that Superman movie where General Zod was well on his way on destroying the Earth and subsequently going on an rampage. Sure, it isn't exactly fair because the original film was an byproduct of it's time and I never actually hated it; but it also felt like that they've missed out on an lot of characterization for Superman, iirc. I also used to know someone who was going insane over this topic in regards with how an certain serious of video games got an line of comics, some crossovers. He was fucking pissed when I mentioned that I kind of liked the crossover edition, and for not being sufficiently angry enough over an certain scene; however, the game it was an based off didn't really do much with explaining the setting and the 2 comics that I've read took forever for the real fighting to start. As with video game adaptations, I generally stay away from that kind of stuff, nowadays. Aside from most of the Star Wars games, most of the other stuff generally existed as either an cash cow or something that wasn't doomed by how terrible the source material was.
  8. This doesn't work with Engage, considering how I had to deal with an seeded crit against Alear
  9. I'm probably the only guy who wanted an rematch against Nelucce, come to think of it
  10. Yeah, it doesn't do that kind of stuff in exchange for the extra range. In fact, Thoron is slightly stronger than Bolganone if your mage is naturally slow; otherwise you'll be missing out on an lot with your damage output
  11. It kind of does make sense in the way that since her powers are incomplete then her appearance shouldn't be fully grown. I'm having some serious deja vu about this because I know that I've seen this before, just can't remember exactly what show that did this.
  12. Well, you have to ask @VincentASM about that kind of stuff. If you're talking about this page only he and the site admins can edit those. There's also an wiki but that doesn't get an lot of traffic and he didn't made an section for Engage, yet
  13. Well that particular chapter is great, it's just that the voice acting was so over the top that it almost had me laughing when Sombrom was corrupting the Emblems one by one and Alear is just screaming in the background. But it's not an particularly insane level in terms of difficulty. Sure, there's the unique mechanic of random Corrupted being gifted with the rings and the gameplay actually matches the story (again). But I really don't see how anyone would drop this game solely because they have to improvise without the rings...For the majority of one torture session. But then you get 2 borderline great characters and you get to have some fun running across an desert map, get Ike after saving Timerra from being mauled by fliers, and get an fair battle inside Solm's castle. And things kind of get easier because you have three rings and an dancer that helps you out whenever you decide to camp
  14. I'm not entirely sure if this will work if your General is being doubled, though. Honestly, I'd rather have someone be entirely immune to magic than trying to gamble with the RNG. I might use one with an Berserker or an Warrior, though. Aside from being an nice piece of dialogue, we might need to go back to the days of playing through an scripted tutorial if people can't pick up on in-game context.
  15. Yeah, things kind of pick up in two maps from this one, if I'm right. But just be warned that it's still kind of bland. With Engage, it's actually kind of funny for the first set of chapters. But, you know, shit happens and that bit where you're being chased felt like an failed attempt at plot taking itself seriously
  16. Yeah, I'm filing this under "operator error." If they've actually addressed this, then you would have an nearly invincible juggernaut; is this something that you really want? Yeah, I can't really see how yours are dying, outside of.effective weaponry and being exposed to magic. But this is why I have someone else accompanying Louis...Usually. My last fight with him had an Royal Knight armed with an Ridersbane and Louis also had the same weapon...So yeah. The AI on Hard is cleverer, but suicidal. Well, this is one of the biggest drawbacks of Engage, unfortunately. However, the reduced movement is actually kind of helpful in the sense that you can't be simultaneously rushed by cavalry and infantry
  17. So, what exactly is the point of equipping these rings? Outside of the fact that an handful of them have an useful ability. At least with the Emblems, you get an decent idea of what you're doing... But you usually have no more than six until you hit the endgame
  18. Going by this table. It looks like the only time when one's class contributes to evasion is whenever they're standing on beneficial terrain
  19. It's probably from FE7 because that was Lyn's level, not Roy's
  20. In all fairness, most of my time in this game was spent either waiting for the enemy to off themselves and hope that they don't get anyone important or just parking my dudes in an hallway and prepping for the inevitable beating. I'm actually kind of curious about this, since the ones that I'm seeing are glass cannons and I'm deliberately sending in an certain someone with an very specific weapon to one round them without taking any damage Mines isn't particularly much of an tank. I mainly use Diamant to break something and have him partnered with an shield and 2 other units just so he'll stay alive. I turned Clanne into one out of curiosity and the added mobility is invaluable. I also paired him with Lyn as means of generating bait and to snipe the occasional flier. Aside from the fact that he can't win an ranged duel, it's exactly what you'd expect from an mounted mage.
  21. They start becoming advanced either around Chapter 12 or when you start promoting your characters.
  22. Well, the main site lists the maximum Def for Generals at 55, but there are faster ways at cutting them down, in this game, since electrical magic appears to have an range of 3 and you can probably whittle down at least 30% of that guy's health if you know what you're doing
  23. It's probably the rapiers, given how often the game spams armored units towards you
