  1. Increasing to six players is perfectly reasonable, and 9 units should be doable... Also, to clarify, you mean Hunter/Horseman/Warrior slots right? Drafting Jake or Beck are probably just as important as the Christmas Cavaliers/Sheeda/Barst (I think, maybe I'm wrong) And I can't seem to find any mention of Jagen anywhere...
  2. This is so hilarious that I must join. Also, problems/changes I foresee: 1. Generals and Warriors are probably as legitimate as Horsemen as Archerish units, given lack of melee weapons. Why not allow them w/o lances and axes, respectively? 2. You can only have so many archers. Do the rest of your units hide? Or are they considered undrafted? 3. Wait, why are Jake and Beck banned? Ballisticians are just long range archers, right? 4. The meatshielding rule discourages us from going to Gaiden chapters. Is this your intent? 5. Do we have to recruit drafted units?
  3. My goal is just to complete HHM, but I'll try to be efficient as well. I'm also going for all Gaidens. No Lyn Mode, and I want to only use the units I need in the final Chapter, so Lords are already picked. So, give me units! -2. Athos -1. Nils/Ninian 0. Hector 1. Eliwood 2. Lyn 3. Oswin (Thankyouthankyouthankyou) 4. Bartre (Not adding Karla due to relative uselessness/ one pick per person Nevermind) 5. Nino ( Well, you'll be fun to train!) 6. Erk (One of my faves!) 7. Wallace (Really? Never used him before... Wait, he's going to be a bitch to recruit, won't he?) 8. Dorcas (Hmm... Five Axe users...) 9. Jaffar (Jaffar x Nino all the way!) 10. Pent (The lord of mages, pretty cool) 11. Isadora (, not the best cavalier in the world, but she'll do) Anyway, I'll try to use the other units since I was reminded in chat afterwards that Nils and Athos are forced.
  4. Fir needs support... let's go with her good ol' Uncle Karel
  5. Math based on http://serenesforest.net/fe7/calc.html: (Cameron's stats from http://shrines.rpgcl...7/cameron.shtml) Experience from defeating enemy=(Experience from doing damage + [Experience from defeating (base) + 20 + Boss bonus + Thief bonus, take as 0 if negative]) x Assassinate coefficient =(Experience from doing damage + [Experience from defeating (base) +20+40+0]x1 =Experience from doing damage + [Experience from defeating (base) +60, take as 0 if negative] Experience from doing damage=[31 + (enemy's Level + enemy's Class bonus A) - (Level + Class bonus A)] / Class power =[31+(4+20)-(Level+Class bonus A)]/3=(55-Level-Class Bonus)/3 Experience from defeating (base)= [(enemy's Level x enemy's Class power) + enemy's Class bonus B] - { [(Level x Class power) + Class bonus B] / Mode coefficient } =[(4x3)+60]-[(Level x3)+Class bonus B]/Mode coefficient = 72 - (Level x 3-Class Bonus B)/Mode coefficient (In this case, I'm assuming Level of promoted class is just the level within the promoted class and Cameron is a boss). Then, Experience from defeating enemy=(55-Level-Class Bonus A)/3+{72-[(Level x 3)+Class bonus B]/Mode coefficient+60} Now, we know Marcus is promoted, class bonuses are activated. Given Baldrick's result of 95 exp and assuming M=1, 95=(35-Level)/3+{72-[(Level x 3)+60]+60}=(35-Level)/3+{72-(Level x 3)} Since {} must be positive, 95=(251-10 x Level)/3, which gives a result of L=-3.4, which can't be true. Then M=2, and 95=(35-Level)/3+{72-[(Level x 3)+60]/2+60}=(35-Level)/3+{102-(Level x 3)/2}. Since {} must be positive, 95=(682-11 x Level)/6, and L=~10.2. Then checking our work, Experience from defeating enemy=(55-10-20)/3+{72-[(10 x 3)+60]/2+60}=25/3+87=~96 (a little too high, with rounding up according to formula) Trying again with L=11, Experience from defeating enemy=(55-11-20)/3+{72-[(11 x 3)+60]/2+60}=8+85.5=~94 (a little too low, even with rounding up) Wait, are my numbers wrong, or did the formulae not work? Let's assume it works with L=10 for Marcus. Then let's try Baldrick's result for Lowen, 80. Then assuming Lowen is unpromoted, Experience from defeating enemy=(55-Level)/3+{72-[(Level x 3)]/Mode coefficient+60} (AH-HA! we have our culprit! Mode coefficient remains 1![since the highest unpromoted level times 3 is<72]) Again, {} is always positive, so 80=(55-Level)/3+132 - Level x 3=(451 - Level x 10)/3. Then Level=21.1 But wait! This means Lowen is promoted, and we can use Marcus's math! Then with M=1, 80=(251-10 x Level)/3, which gives Level=~1.1. SUCCESS! So, yeah. The reason is you're doing it on normal mode. Weird math doesn't kick in in hard mode. M=Mode Coefficient, L=level
  6. I feel silly for picking him this early, but I need a lance user... Yes, I choose Bors.
  7. AGGGGGHHHHHHH... I guess I'm not getting a cavalier then. Ellen
  8. In like Flynn. Also, shouldn't you put yourself on the list of players?
  9. As I said above, I act under the assumption that a person<the world around them. Then to benefit others improves the world, meaning that the person themselves can grow as well. But I would say that in the majority of cases (making a grand ass-umption here), the person feels unable to communicate how they feel to another other than through the act itself. If that is indeed the case, then that person is unable to communicate to another human a major dilemma they are having. Are they going to improve if they don't undergo therapy? (defining therapy as conversation to benefit one's emotional/mental well-being) Of course not. Additionally, we notice that if the person says that they do not want to improve their situation, then clearly they aren't suicidal. We have no way of knowing that their mental state will improve after death. Clearly the most rational act is for the person to undergo therapy, even if success is not guaranteed. Then even from a selfish perspective, therapy is better than death. Of course, one should take all advice with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, at an early age, we are bombarded with ideas that we have to accept without question or suffer the consequences. In truth, you can't sit and think about everything that happens to you, since more stuff will occur in the middle of your pondering. Do we accept that 2+2=4? Yes, yet most of the population fails to understand exactly why 2+2=4 (Although I must admit that proving simple arithmetic becomes very tedious very quickly). Thus, no one can say that they only accept another's view after feeling the point is valid.
  10. Your brother's situation sounds a bit like how my parents would describe MY situation. My situation: Graduated high school as valedictorian while taking 6 AP classes (which hasn't really been matched at my high school, ever?). I was a National Honor Finalist, and my SAT scores were threw the roof. I decided that I wanted to go to college with plenty of bright individuals like myself and got into a top-ranked science, math, and engineering school. I enjoyed college life, a bit too much. Maybe it was that I finally had friends I wanted to associate with (growing up in a small town in the midwest=not the best social environment). Maybe I had gone to school a little too far from home (away from disciplinarian-minded parents). In any case, my grades at school became Bs and Cs, instead of the As I was used to receiving (granted the school was tough). At first I was shocked, then went into a comfortably numb sort of attitude, assuming it would get better as the years went on. Short story: it didn't. Last summer, I was diagnosed with having high anxiety and ADD (not ADHD, there's a difference) and started treament, but went back to school before the proper dosage was determined. That semester, I decided it was in my best interest to withdraw from school (Failed to do way too many assignments, which piled up), and returned home. I'm now taking classes at a nearby university and was just accepted as a transfer student there (literally just, like 30 min ago). Meanwhile, I'm continuing treatment and therapy for the anxiety and ADD, but life is improving. Initially, when I returned home, I didn't feel like applying anywhere. I myself dove into MTG* full force, which my parents decided to remove after I was ignoring family far too often. When I was no longer able to access MTG, I initially became more depressed. Even so, I bounced back, and found myself more willing to help out around my house and focus on my studies. I was raised in a Catholic environment, but I'm firmly athiest in my beliefs (expressed only after I reached college). Even so, I'm of the opinion that I ought to benefit the world (since from my prespective, world>me). Now my advice: Remove LoL from him, and instead have him look up topics in bioengineering, if that's what he's really interested in. If there's someone/someplace nearby focused on bioengineering, push him towards that. Hopefully, he really is interested in holding an occupation in the area, and can start to demonstrate his interest. Ask him about what he wants to do when he hits the job scene, about bioengineering-type topics, about what he wants in life. Actively challenge his ideas and opinions in non-gaming areas of life (not in a way that makes him feel bad, but if he disagrees with your opinions, have him explain why he thinks differently), and he just might respond. You could attempt to have him see a therapist, but he'll probably assume you think he's insane. Instead, try to show him that his life is abnormal, and that it might be in his best interest to change. Try to see if who you think his friends are match who he thinks his friends are. (Just because you talk with someone regularly in a social setting doesn't make them your friend. A friend is someone who you'd go out of your way to meet with.) Even if his direction in life doesn't match your own, let him know that you believe in him. Not in the wishy-washy religious belief that a person born into a religion would have, you know who he is and that he will be successful. Also, I just noticed that he's your older brother? My advice probably isn't the best then (my older brother and I are rather distant), but then again, I'm rather fond of my next younger brother who also happens to be in a close relationship with a girl (although she's quite a bit luckier than your girl, good luck with your relationship). And these are the sort of steps that I want my younger brother take to help me. Also, it seems that you haven't mentioned your parents involvement at all. Discuss your ideas to help your brother out with your parents, and see if they can help out as well. Good luck! *If you don't know, MTG=Magic: the Gathering. Oh and @Celice/in support of Raven: Suicide is not a good thing. I've contemplated suicide many times myself, even can't remove the idea from my head when I want to. If a person makes the decision that there life is not worth living, they're not thinking about the impact that their death would have on the people around them. Suicide is a dick move, seriously. And that person needs help, whether they want it or not.

  13. I'm pretty sure The End meant the premise that you assumed he wasn't aware of the crash. Anyways, I'm pretty sure that FPSers never would have been as popular without the success of Goldeneye, which (I admit I'm making an educated guess here) probably wasn't as popular in Japan. I mean, really, how popular is James Bond in Japan, as compared to US/UK? Goldeneye was produced by Rare, a British company, and probably would not have been produced in Japan. Sure there were arcade shoot'em ups and the 2-D scrolling shooters, like mega-man and metroid, but none had the feel of an FPS like Goldeneye had. Let's not forget that American culture produces big, action-packed movies with tall, muscular men wielding machine guns and the like, not so much in Japan. Thus, FPS games required the American market to thrive. So what's my point? Mario->American Market->FPS You could argue away all of this by grouping FPS under Western games and platformers, but the bloody, gory parts in gaming wouldn't have survived as strongly with neither the FPS or the American market.
  14. After just trying it with FE7, I found the dancer AI to be worthless(Tethys literally just walled the whole time), which is completely understandable. And Nino with Excalibur (from killing off Lute) is OP. If any balancing is to be made, it needs to be done to the AI, not either side. To be fair, I'm pretty sure there's not been much AI improvement in any of the hacks I've seen, so I guess it can't be helped. Of course, I guess I had prior knowledge from Klok's review (AKA I tried to take out the best units first). Still I had 30-40 units left by the end. Now what I want to see is someone do this without taking a loss, even if it means RNG abuse. That would be cool. Also, Fortify just makes the hack way too easy.
