  1. Unfortunately Astrid is basically Leonardo on a horse. Her only good growths are Luck and Res with everything else lacking. It's such a shame that Pelleas is so underpowered as well. He only gets Dark magic and Thunder magic, both sharing the same accuracy issue. At least Dark magic is genuine strong but it's SS tome is a joke compared to the ones from the other elements. Normally SS tomes get a massive accuracy boost compared to the S variant. Meanwhile Dark magic gets a measly +10 hit. So even the Rexbolt is far more accurate then the Balberith with 95 hit vs 75 hit. And of course that +3 strength literally never matters. Anyway, for the final chapter besides the forced characters the ones with the most boss conversations are the Laguz Kings (except for Caineghis) as well as Sigrun, Tanith, Pelleas, Astrid, Haar and Jill.
  2. I always wondered if the reinforcements on this map were triggered by turncount or by progression. I suppose that proves that they are triggered by turncount because you managed to beat the map before the real reinforcements could arrive. Anyway, make sure you have at least 3000 gold in reserve before you start the next map. Oliver's return might well be what baffles me the most about this game. Keep in mind that this is the guy that Ike called a monster at least twice. So to see him played as harmless comic relief here is all kinds of weird to say the least. Anyway, most characters have unique support quotes for Oliver. Like Ranulf for example: Unfortunately there is no additional information given about how Rafiel ended up on the other side of the desert. Keep in mind that nobody in Tellius knew what was behind that desert. As far as everyone was concerned, the people of Tellius were the only survivors of the great flood that the dark god caused. So even if someone had the power to send him there they had no reason to actually do so. So not only is there no explanation for this, there isn't even a possible explanation. At least as far as I can see.
  3. Then that just leaves Dr. Gero and the Supersonic Warriors crew is basically complete. Well, I suppose Super Buu was also in that game, but half the time he was used as a substitute for Kid Buu anyway. In any case, let's just hope that this time around Gotenks doesn't automatically die after a certain amount of time. You know, I never really expected Dr. Gero to make it into this game, I figured he just made it into Supersonic Warriors because of his energy absorption gimmick. But considering the story focuses on the artificial humans, Dr. Gero probably has a pretty good chance to make it in after all.
  4. Jenna from Golden Sun I suppose. Kinda strange that I can't think of a candidate from an older game. There are so many PC games that I played before I ever got my first console or handheld.
  5. I would advice against giving Reyson Celerity just yet. On Ike's next map there will be someone that Rafiel can recruit, so it would be helpful if he could move more quickly. It's also an indoor map, so your mounts are going to have less movement as well. On the subject of the current map, it's strange that the Boss of this map is a Pegasus Knight, yet Tanith does not have a boss conversation with her. Meanwhile she has special convos with every boss on the first route. I suspect that at one point a lot more characters were intended to be forced into specific teams but they ended up easing up on that since it became too limiting. Edit: Elincia currently can't kill anything as long as she holds on to the Mercy skill. Haar is actually the only unit who puts on a helmet upon promotion. Meg, Oscar, Gatrie, Tauroneo and Geoffrey all take their helmets off at third tier. Aran does not. He looks like a generic soldier for the entire game. And I don't actually know about Brom. I don't think I ever promoted him. When you see Tibarn's army again, I would recommend to have Pelleas attack the boss. Given the content of that conversation maybe this one could actually be a trigger for Pelleas' Epilogue scene. But either way it contains some very interesting new story bits. On the very next map it's hide and seek with Stefan like in the first game. There is also a ton of hidden treasure like on your usual desert map.
  6. Well, the Hand of the Goddess believes that her opponents are servants of the dark god. So consequently they would believe that the reason they are not petrified is because the dark god uses them to do their dirty work. ...so basically just like what is being done to them... Anyway, everything is shared between the 3 teams now. Money, Inventory, BEXP. The storage capacity has also increased accordingly. And just in case you didn't realize this, when Ike promoted you got a Nihil scroll for free. Next time you will see Micaiah's group, you will be able to recruit Stefan. Stefan does the same thing he did in the first game, which is hiding on a specific tile. This time around he has to be recruited by Micaiah. Although since you used a data transfer, Lethe and Mordecai should be able to do it too. Unfortunately Sanaki can only archive SS rank in Fire. So Ilyana is the only one who can use that Rexbolt. The Lion gauge reduces by only 2 for combat and 3 for each turn. The downside is that it also builds up slower. But that doesn't exactly matter, especially at this point. After all Olivi Grass is cheap and plentiful. Btw, as usual the triangle attack is in this game. You have no less then four Pegasus Knights this time around but you still need only three of them in order to perform it.
  7. Judging by your use of past tense, I take it you are already past 3E? Yeah, it's him. I actually did write his name in my last post, I just turned the font to white so that you would still need to manually select it in order to read it, just in case. And yeah, I don't mind Micaiah setting people on fire like this either. As painfully forced this entire conflict is, if we accept the stakes that Daein has to fight or everyone just dies, then it's fine. Micaiah is someone who is completely committed to her people and is willing to commit any atrocity to protect her people. That's a perfectly understandable attitude to take in a situation like that, nevermind that she is not some random patriot but the most highranking General of Daein, so it's her duty to protect her people. Plus, I like how Micaiah being a patriotic hero makes for a nice contrast to Ike with his simplistic "I fight for my friends" outlook. And the game most certainly recognized that such a mass burning is freaking horrifying and absolutely tried to give it the proper weight, unlike a certain other game. Edit: Okay, next part is up. I suppose you can see why I didn't want to talk about the subject of Soren vs Pelleas. I really didn't want anyone to tell you that the true map objective is to collect 80 corpses. That would take a lot of the atmosphere, if you ask me. Not much else to say for now, I suppose. What I can tell you is that the reason Boyd showed up at the end of the map is because of his A support. If he didn't have that, Titania would have showed up instead. But that's not what people were talking about when it comes to that A support, they were indeed referring to that Info Conversation. And btw, there is a downside to that 3 range of the Marksman. Unless they use Crossbows, Bow users get a penalty of -30 hit when attacking from anything other then 2 range. And this is not exclusive to Marksmen since the same happens if you use ordinary Longbows.
  8. At this point I don't think there is a reason from refraining the name of the person that you have to attack with Soren. It's Pelleas! I'm surprised you still have the Kard. It's basically the Knife version of the Short Bow from the GBA games. Which means that it's inferior to a common Iron Dagger in every way but sells for a significant amount of money. Btw, in case you are interested you can find Volug's support lines here: https://serenesforest.net/radiant-dawn/scripts/supports/volug/ Unfortunately unlike other characters he uses the same lines for every character. But I'd say he makes them count.
  9. Oil and fire are "horrible tactics"? Well excuse me, Empress Sanaki. This is what we like to call a "brilliant scheme". Backhanded Awakening bashing aside, the localisation screwed up a little in this part. In the flashback where Pelleas meets Lekain he demands that Pelleas helps him fighting the "subhuman army of the false apostle". This is of course nonsense. This scene takes place sometime before 3-6, which means that the Army of the Empress didn't even exist back then, so Lekain naturally would have requested help against the Laguz Alliance. Maybe the translation missed the fact that this scene was supposed to be a flashback and therefore didn't realize that the Laguz that Lekain was talking about had nothing to do with Sanaki. And I think Pelleas actually did read the contract. Because in the extended script he does list the contents of it: However, what definitely does make him an unbelievable imbecile of truly epic proportions is something that is rather easy to miss in our abridged script: He signed the contract with actual blood: It might be just a rather subtle remark in our version but it's a lot more emphasized in the extended script. Lekain even specifically calls out Pelleas on the fact that a signature made in blood should have made it pretty damn obvious that there was something fishy:
  10. Okay, this has to be the funniest part of this playthrough. Such sweet, sweet salt. As I said, this map had been improved immensely. This time around it's perfectly possible to deduce the locations of most of the traps based on where it would make sense for them to be placed. For example, if an enemy places a Light Rune then there is probably a pit next to it to prevent you from simply circling around it. Or if an enemy doesn't charge you, they are probably standing in front of a pit. But that final pit behind the first catapult must be an act of trolling. There is no logic behind that one, it's just right there in the open.
  11. It's "just" significantly harder. It's another case of triggering a battle conversation with a certain character. But I wouldn't really recommend going for the 2nd playthrough stuff on a first run anyway. Especially in this case I find it rather hard to give directions without spoiling anything. It's just you already started going for this event in 3-7 by having Soren attack Micaiah, so I figured I should tell you about the next step. And hey, maybe Interdimensional Observer is right and you don't actually need to do any of these things.
  12. Well, this is what the site says: An A support with Ike has nothing to do with that.
  13. I hope you still have a charge of the Meteor tome left. You are going to need it if you are going for the event that required you to have Soren attack Micaiah back in 3-7. If you still have it, don't end the next map with Soren having it in his inventory. Mist cannot actually use a Master Crown. I mentioned this in an earlier post, for some reason Mist gets an unique promotion item. ...which unfortunately you will get way too late... and on a map where she is probably better of staying dismounted due to it being an indoor map with lots of ledges. If you want to see her promoted earlier, you have to get her all the way to level 21. As nonsensical the AI behavior is from an in-universe perspective, I suppose it makes a certain amount of sense from a map design perspective. You may have noticed that the only Archers on this map are those around the boss. Once they start moving, they can easily kill Elincia with their effective damage. Considering the existence of this blatant path on the lower edge of the screen, I'm pretty sure that the intent is to use that lower path to get behind the enemy lines and take out the archers before they can make contact with the Crimean army. And yeah, the boss and the other archers will eventually move after a certain amount of turns. Anyway, next we will revisit the best map from PoR. It's pitfall time yet again. But as I alluded to back in PoR, this version of the map is far more bearable due to the placement of the pitfalls being far more logical, so it's far easier to predict where they are. And the area near the boss contains no pitfalls at all. The last pitfall on the map is three tiles away from the first ballista. (btw, said pitfall is one of the two pitfalls that have no real logic behind their placement. So watch out.) You also get a few new fliers that you are forced to deploy. I guess IS was well aware that you could cross pitfall tiles if they are occupied by a flier. Not saying that the map is actually good, just that it shouldn't be too much of a pain.
  14. Nobody to be honest. Considering it's a limited resource, I could never bring myself to use them. If I did though, it most certainly would have been Nomah too.
  15. From my experience in Conquest, your frontliners are always debuffed to some degree. Ninjas are everywhere and your stats only recover by 1 each turn. So yeah, it was very much an omnipresent issue.
  16. Having two screen should have been nice in theory but there have always been issues with it. Like, in Shadow Dragon you had to use the Select button to view the stats of an enemy's weapon. That's something that's not exactly self-explanatory. Then starting with Awakening and Fates you were required you to hit tiny symbols to get information of skills and weapons... on top of missing some important information altogether. Like, it baffles me that Fates of all things felt the need to only display your current attributes instead of your base attribute + any existing modifier like any other game. For once it was actually important to know what your unmodified bases were, in order to know what your stats would look like after getting hit by a shuriken or some other debuff on enemy phase.
  17. Mages get staffs at third tier. This thing with the EXP gain of the Laguz is so strange. Nevermind how weak Lyre is, a lv 20 Laguz is apparently overleveled, yet the game just gave you no less then two lv28 Laguz. I wonder if the game treats them as such high level units in order to help the Dawn Brigade to catch up. Btw, did you notice that the battle model of the Daein Dragon Knights are surprisingly... reddish? Like the one Soren fights at 32:25? I wonder if they either didn't have a model for Daein Dragonknights or used the Begnion Dragonknights on accident. Edit: You seem to be already aware of this but just in case I would like to clarify that Rajaion died at the end of PoR. Mastery skills have a lower activation rate then they did in PoR. The % is now only half of the dependent attribute. And as this phrasing suggests, some of the Masteries do not depend on the Skill stat but instead rely on a different attribute. Herons can actually learn some more spells. But they require such a high level that it's completely unreasonable for them to ever actually reach it. At Lv 30 they learn a chant that raises the Laguz' transformation gauge to the maximum and at Lv 40 they learn a chant that completely heals and cures allies. Also, I'm not sure you noticed but they also have an offensive version of Bliss that lowers the enemy's Biorhythm.
  18. I'm sure that unlike in Part 1 it's legitimately possible to get the Black Knight killed here. If you focus entirely on making Lethe as strong as possible and teach her her Mastery Skill which triples her strength by 5 when it triggers, she should be able to tear him apart. Edit: Nevermind, I forgot about Nihil, so her Mastery wouldn't work. Still, with capped strength, Speed and SS strike she would still be able to hit him for 2x17 damage. Imbue heals about half of that, so it would take a while, but in theory she should be able to take him down. Either way, if the Black Knight dies in Part 1 you get a Game Over (along with a death quote that subtly lampshades how absurd this outcome is). So I would assume the same is true for this map.
  19. I suppose Faval with Alec as his father should be able to handle him relatively easily. The Ichival has increased attack power compared to the other holy weapons and Alec's Awareness would protect him from Wrath.
  20. If only you could get some ordinary torches for this map. Micaiah and Laura aren't exactly the best scouts. Fun fact: If Lethe already died at this point in the game, the boss of this map will be a male cat with black fur named Kezhda. Although it seems like Lethe and Mordecai never even came into view. I know the two of them take a while to come down to you but considering how far you send Jill out, it's a little surprising you didn't encounter them. I suppose the map simply ends too quickly on Maniac Mode due to the increased enemy count. Either way, it's quite a shame considering Jill and Lethe have a nice boss conversation as well as a talk conversation here, which do a good job showing how their relationship has progressed since PoR. Edit: And btw, Halfshift does not reduce EXP gain. That's just an translation error.
  21. It's Yamcha vs Vegito and it's your job to guide the Wolf Fang Fist to victory against the fused foe. Let's go! Anyway, all those new weapons you got also give you a stat boost. +8 Luck for Edward +5 Speed for Leonardo +4 Defense for Nolan Not only is the Dawn Brigade terrible outmatched here, they also have to worry about some of their members being recruited into the Laguz Alliance. So do not have Zihark talk to Lethe or Mordecai. If Zihark had an A support with Ilyana or Brom back in PoR, they can also recruit him. Yes, the game hates the Dawn Brigade so much that even the Data Transfer can possibly bite them in the rear. As for Jill, she can get recruited by Haar. She can also get recruited by Mist if they had an A support back in PoR. On the bright side, you don't have to hold back in these fights. Defeating playable characters will not kill them. There are also characters who refuse to attack certain characters no matter what. For example Jill and Mist are unable to attack each other and Zihark won't ever attack Lethe, Mordecai or Ranulf.
  22. That is a silly thing to say. In a fantasy world featuring zombies and other undead creatures, killing people doesn't necessarily make them peaceful.
  23. Now that you can finally use Laguz, you will always be able to find some Olivia Grass among Aimee's special offers. Make sure you always have enough in stock. Lyre is so absurdly weak, yet the game thinks she is still overleveled. It's baffling that Lyre actually has a higher level then Mordecai, who starts out with no less then 32 defense. The game's weird balance is truly the most noticeable when it comes to the Laguz. But Lyre has an even bigger problem then her weak bases. It's the fact that Ranulf not only outperforms her but you are actually forced to deploy Ranulf for quite a few maps. And having to handle more then one cat at the same time is a massive pain. As you saw, cats chew through their transformation gauge like no one's business. They loose 4 points for every battle + 5 additional points each turn. As a result they struggle to have any kind of player phase because they are in constant need to chew Olivia Grass. And if they untransform on enemy phase they are as good as dead. Sure, their gauge recovers faster too but practically speaking that doesn't actually help them all that much. If a cat eats some grass on turn 1 they will only have 25 points at the beginning of turn 2. Which means they still can't actually transform until turn 3, just like any other type of Laguz.
  24. Since we are in Part 3 now, this might be a good opportunity to point out that there are actually two versions of the opening. What you've seen at the start of the run was the full version that is unlocked once you reach Part 3 for the first time. The initial version of the opening is slightly shorter because it does not feature any of the scenes involving Ike. Btw Deltre, did you start your playthrough using existing game completion data? Because otherwise you can't go for any of the second playthrough stuff. It only counts if you start a new game using the save file from a finished run.
  25. This whole "vote with your wallet" rhetoric is even more displaced here then it usually is.The vast majority of the profits from these companies comes from a minuscule subset of players who spend thousands of dollars on a single game. They make their games with the specific purpose of milking these people. Which means that these companies do not care about the money of small fish like myself who only pay 60 bucks once.
