  1. Well, in the case of non-linearity, it is definitely an interesting game. Those were definitely fundamental changes. If nothing else, it convinced me that the upcoming Wii game could be quite promising.
  2. I take a few damns over the psychopathic sadism displayed by the "good guys" any day. So I would really like to believe that the Japanese version was different and that the localization is responsible for the tone in the English script.
  3. So does this mean that Frederick's line used to be entirely different? Since replacing "God" with "damn" obviously doesn't add up.
  4. I'd say Katarina because her design is just such an improvement over her FE12 one. I found her FE12 artwork to be godawful. In Awakening, she actually got a secure stance and focused eyes. It's quite a pleasant change from her rather infantile appearance in FE12. It really works wonders.
  5. Well, since I consider the transformation to be unnatural, I consequently also think that a baby would be unaffected by a transformation. And with that line of thought, I really don't want to think of the specifics of what happens to the fetus if the mother transforms beyond it being fatal for the child and the mother. And as I said above, the issue with the dragon stones is specifically why I think that Manakete kid's don't have any dragon powers or Manakete simply maintain their sterility in the first place. Btw, I would like to make the case that the dragons from Akaneia and Elibe aren't compatible with each other. The dragons in Elibe have to stay human because of the high energy consumption of their dragon form. The Akaneia dragons have technically no problem staying in dragon from. But they would turn into wild beast, if they stay like that. So I propose that they should be looked at separately.
  6. I've got the Master Sword and arrived in Lorule. Personally, I am not that exited about it. In my opinion, the game has very little that justifies it not being a remake. Like, they may call it Lorule but it's still the Dark World. Still the same looks, the same enemies, the same music...
  7. Given how the transformation is treated, it's probably fair to say that it is an actual transformation and that Manakete are normally dragons. And it's probably a very literal transformation, seeing how Manakete need to seal their powers into stones in order to turn back into dragons. If they were regular shape shifters, they should be able to transform without external hardware. And Xane does mention dragons that turned mad simply because they refused to abandon their pride as dragons by turning into humans. So the human form is probably something very unnatural for them. If it wasn't for them facing madness, I bet the vast majority of dragons would have went their whole lives without ever taking the form of a human. So I would guess that a dragon child is simply born as a dragon. And in regards to a pregnancy of a manakete in human from , I guess all bets are off. Personally my guess is that the statement of the elders that the dragons were going distinct was true one way or another: That the dragons would either keep being sterile in human form or their children would be completely human. Because I don't see how a human or a human Manakete could give birth to a Manakete. The existence of dragon stones only make sense if the Manakete can't simply keep their own powers stored inside themselves. And a newborn child wouldn't have a dragon stone.
  8. Gomez is still a jerk, though. He is way tougher then those before or after him because he is also pretty damn fast, making it extremely hard to use PCC against him. And I am sure, he will flat out dodge the Light and Fire swords most of the time. Asvel might be able to take him down, but given that in Fire Emblem, characters are expected to die occosionally, it's still a problem when a situation can only be beaten using a very specific character, from a bonus chapter no less.
  9. The fun thing is that Lissa's outfit aren't even peacetime clothes, considering that she, Chrom and Frederick were sent to the countryside with the specific purpose of fighting those bandits. But whatever, I don't get why you brought her up. It's Lucina we are taking about here. Lissa didn't even make it into the finale. Anyway, it's absurd that she is wearing expensive clothes with rare materials that take a long time to produce that she had to have made after the giant city swallowing dragon showed up. People would be way to busy to run and scream rather then tender to the vanity of a teenage girl. Money only gets you that far in the wake of the Apocalypse. It would have to be something she would have possessed before that. But that would go against her statement of becoming Marth because she needed the courage against said Dragon. Ah, thanks a lot. Well, if you have to pull absurd stuff like that out of nowhere, just so you can pretend that Marth is going to be in the game... If brands in the eyes were a thing in Fire Emblem or if there was a better payoff then this absurd time travel nonsense, then maybe they were too high. As it is, I am fine with my expectations where they are. It would be insulting towards writers who put lots of thought and effort into their stories and worlds, when you treat a half hearted script as equally great. Okay, it's not a "pile" because the only thing I speculated was the motivation to put someone in a Marth costume into the game. The it doesn't add anything to the story is of course merely personal opinion. And if the only part thing it does is to "tie the lore together", that doesn't change. If there is anything else you see in it, I would definitely love to hear it. And personally I find my theory plausible because the whole "fighting against" part, doesn't even receive an attempt of an explanation despite featuring prominently in the ads and even on the game's cover. Not to mention that the "claiming to be the Hero-King of legends." part in the pre-release info is flat out wrong. (But then gain, even wikipedia links to Serenesforest for that summation, so who knows where we got that one from. At least NoA's page has a different plot summary) In the game, nobody even considers the possibility that the person might actually be Marth or thinks that she pretends to be him. Chrom recognizes the name but that's about it. They didn't even recognize the clothes. So whatever there motivation was, they did mislead the audience in their ads.
  10. Which reminds me, I expected a better justification for the mask then something ridiculous as a brand in the eye of all places. The game has nothing but very thing excuses to justify that Lucina just so happens to have a perfect Marth cosplay, just so happens to wear a mask, and just so happens to call herself Marth, despite not actually wanting that anyone believe that she actually is Marth. This absurd setup is not done because it serves the story in any way but just so IS can fool the audience with their "Marth fights against the new Lord" advertisement gag. In my eye, this does not make for a good character design.

Yeah, you sure showed my how inane (it's always to learn a new word.) my post was by stating that it's perfectly natural to have a perfect cosplay of Marth as long as you can afford any clothes at all. Seriously, whoever tailor she tasked with, that guy must have believed her to be out of her mind to request a fancy costume while the country was going down in flames. Btw, what do you mean with Otacon? Wikipedia only gives me that guy from MGS. And what does Lucina wearing her outfit it in the flashbacks have to do with anything anyway? I would sure hope she did, given that she wore it when she fell through the portal.

  13. Her support network can't be that bad if she managed to get a perfect Marth cosplay and time travel in the wake of the apocalypse.
  14. My apologies. I didn't realize you were talking about a hypothetical scenario. My English is of course pretty bad, but I have no idea how I managed to overlook something like a simple "if" among other things.

While I definitely would prefer if the Mastery skills were absent rather then be included the way they are, there shouldn't be any luck involved in dealing with the few third tier bosses since there is plenty of Nihil's to go around. Ike even gets one for free during promotion. Not only that, but the only non-mage (since mage masteries suck anyway) enemies with Masteries are: -Levail, who doesn't move and is defenseless against Sanaki and Micaiah, the former who is forced to survive. -The Black Knight (Hence Ike's free Nihil) -And Deghinsea. (Who famously won't move. And man, does it not matter that he won't attack Kurthnaga and Ena.) So that's nothing that Nihil and maybe Parity can't handle. There should be no luck involved unless you sell Ike's Nihil or something. Actually, most of them can deal with them without too much trouble. For one thing, the game has critical hits which double attack power instead of tripping damage. Therefore, getting critical hits allow them to bypass high defense. But the game also has the PCC, which allows tons of units to have a massive chance of a critical hit on the second strike. Sure, you have less options early one. But those options included stuff like the Light Sword, the Fire Sword, Pugi and Wrath among others. And all of them are available from the very first chapter.
  16. Getting the input on a joystick just right, always seems near impossible to me. It usually ends with either running or standing. So I actually I prefer 3D Land's method of switching between two well designed speeds. I was really surprised how comfortable this made things compared to any other third person game I ever played. The lack of bosses is inexcusable, though. And to make matters worse, the Boomers seem to have rather glitchy hitboxes. And I really wish there was a "replace Tannoki suit with other power ups" mode. Still, the level design was beautifully diverse. After the last few New Mario bros games, I feared they could only rehash elements but there is tons of new stuff here. Plus, just getting the old stuff work in a 3D game makes it an entirely different beast. It's definitely my favorite game on the 3DS. Sure, I played more Monster Hunter. But most of that time is spend being wasted on farming and grinding. 3D Land is just pure distilled fun. And unlike Mario 64 and Sunshine, it doesn't send you like half a dozen times through every level. Well, some of them 3 times but the circumstances are always entirely different.
  17. I get the warp tiles any maybe the staffs. But everything else? For one thing, the enemy doesn't even have hero weapons. They are player only in the first place. And even if they weren't, they would be an entirely fair obstacle because you'd know in advance who has them and can plan your strategy accordingly. And I know that I am repeating myself here but: You don't need to recruit Xavier to finish the game. It's just an optional objective. If you don't have the means or the patience to recruit Xavier, then simply don't recruit him. To be sure, he is a cool guy to have around. But he is ultimately not needed for anything.

  19. Is it explained why it didn't work? Because Lucina did not have all the gems? Or if she didn't have any, how could she have summonsed Naga at all? Anyway, Naga's power would have been needed to allow time travel in the first place.
  20. How would a partial Awakening work? The ritual simply kills the candidate if they don't prevail. Chrom: It seems that whoever attempts the rite must brave Naga's fire. If both body and spirit survive the agony, they are blessed with the dragon's power. Otherwise, the candidate...dies.
  21. Well, she beat him. But that the script felt the need to have Basillo state that he thinks that Lonqu is Lucina's equal and that he can't believe she beat him so easily, heavily implies that her curb stomping him was merely the result of his fear of woman. Basillo: ...he's peerless with a sword. As good as Marth, in my mind. To be honest, I can't figure out how Marth bested him so quickly.
  22. Personally I see a huge problem in the exp gain. Because it only rewards units who actually kill things, regardless of what the classe's role in the team is. Imagine your average Fire Emblem game, with the starting team having an archer and a duo of Cavaliers. You would use the Archer to weaken them and then have the Cavaliers finish the job without having to eat a counter. But since getting kills is the only real way for combat units to gain exp, the archer will inevitable fall behind. In order for the archer to gain exp, you would have to weaken enemies with your cavaliers and then finish them of with the archer. Which effectively kills the utility of the archer, since when he only performs the finishing blow, he might have as well have attacked with a melee weapon and archived the very same results. It's similar with Armored Knights. They aren't really designed for killing, they are merely supposed to eat hits and weaken the attackers. So they will often require being feed kills as well.
  23. Best: Flying utility Worst: Bow Utility Flying, because the ability to go anywhere you want without having to worry about that nasty terrain has always been universally. Bow utility, because those weapons have always done nothing but doing the same thing mages do, but worse.
  24. Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Iron Boots edition Play through the entire classic with no other shoes but the badass Iron Boots. Also includes new features, like the ability to use your weight to break Epona's back and legs. They can be carved for materials.
  25. I guess I will throw my vote to "Sin & Punishment: Successor of the sky". An absolute awesome rail shooter. When it was released, I was hesitant to buy it because while I enjoyed the original game on the virtual console, it had too many issues. Like it's rough controls and the god awful sidescroller stage. Well, I turned out to be death wrong. The game fixed all of the predecessor's issues and made everything about the game more awesome. The game controls absolutely amazing. The remote effectively works like a light gun and yet you can still control your character. The Wii seems effectively be made for a rail shooter like this one. And this time around, the side scrolling stage is actually my favorite level. The level design is beautiful, creative and hard as hell. (silly me, thinking I could beat Normal mode just because I beat the original on normal) It's just an absolute pleasure to play this one.
