Surprisingly the product description isn't up yet. It still has a Nov 25th release date, and will of course translate description whenever it pops up. It says its 256 pages like this book though --considering it lacks lengthy support conversations, I wonder what they'll fill those pages with? (Of course if they give generic dialogue for every character it may fill that up anyway!) Yep, the story and gameplay separation. I wonder if it was meant to apply to just FE9 where she is unusable and not FE10 where she can be directly compared or something? xD Yeah... Astrid had a lot more potential. At least she does get a few conversations in the final level with enemies, but considering she was meant to wed Lekain among other things, could have had a much larger role. By will-power, they likely meant incredible persistence/not giving up specifically on gambling, even if he loses every time. The profile was likely making a sarcastic quip to this rather than having any actual will-power in battle/other things. xD Also in the spirit of Halloween, here is Bertram!

Sorry, sorry, Lord Ike it is! I blame my recent playthrough of RD (I'm glad I didn't mess it up on his profile at least)... I also started using "softening" effects and have been upping the saturation slightly to get higher quality pictures. However, some of the two-page profiles can't be helped, with that big ugly scan line between them :\ EDIT: Also, regarding Ragnell's size, aside from what was mentioned about Alondite, I recall this conversation from Smash Bros. Brawl and how impressed Snake was that he was wielding the two handed sword with one hand xD I think it is just to express that demure nature, yes. But I remember wondering the same thing way back when it came out xD Glad to know there are still readers : ) We're nearing the end of the profiles, and thus the points of interest for this book will be complete.

Yep, and when I checked the game script they didn't localize Rolf to be particularly formal toward Ike and such, so they left it out understandably entirely.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'd love to find the European script in full and compare it directly with the NA one (and THEN the Japanese one...). Glad they did it right. xD Thanks! And yeah, that's true, I was worried I'd only be halfway done with these ones by the time that book came around. I finished a replay run of Radiant Dawn just a few days ago to refresh my memory so I'll be better prepared for when that book comes out too. xD

That's what confused me too. I'll look at the Japanese script and see what I can find regarding the "we may not be related." xD EDIT: Yes, seems to be a (North American) localization change. Here is the convo in Japanese: 僕さボーレのこと好きだよ。 喧嘩ばっかりしてるけどボーレをちゃんと兄さんだって思ってるよ。 "I really do love you Boyd. We may fight a lot, but I still think of you as my older brother." I suppose they took the "still think of you as an older brother" to mean he isn't really but he thinks of him as one. xD Where as super-literal translation would be: "Because you are my older brother I think" By which he's referring to "I feel that (I love you because you are my older brother)." Either way, that's resolved, and I will look more deeply into this slight change another day on a dedicated post.

Mist (P. 45) Titania (P. 46) Soren (P. 47) Oscar (P. 48) Boyd (P. 49) Boyd's profile pins all three of them having same father but different mothers... is that the way it was supposed to be? Here I thought it was one half brother and two real ones. Either way, the wording seemed to lean that way (on Oscar's profile, it only says "he is the older half brother," but on Boyd's, it is said like "His half brother Oscar, Rolf" rather than "Half brother Oscar and Rolf (as if Rolf is meant to be separate, it is odd that there is no separate description, pinning him in the same category...) Guess I'll see when I get to Rolf's profile. xD EDIT: When looking ahead to Rolf it just talks about how his birth mother left, and otherwise that he's the youngest of the three brothers without mentioning halfs or anything. xD

I couldn't actually find the English equivalent term, tried searching on the wikis, but I recall in Radiant Dawn the closest we get is that guy in the Brom/Nephenee level saying "Ike the Patriot." I'll have to check the Japanese script later. But the title is: 救国の英雄 Which means, specifically, "The heroic/hero patriot devoted to saving his country." So can be "Country Savior Hero" too, which sounds a little stranger... xD EDIT: Oh cool, just as I guessed, that guy did say the exact wording as above in Japanese! And they translated to simply "Ike the Patriot." xD So I'll leave my translation as it was, I guess. Or maybe I should change it to "Patriotic Hero" or "Heroic Patriot..." hmm...

Right! I think I sorted things out to be able to get back to daily posts (or will speed through a few anyway). So (finally), here is Ike's profile!

Aww...looks like Volume 2 has been delayed by a month according to the amazon page. From October 28th to November 25th. : ( I guess that gives even more time to translate the book before then, but was looking forward to getting to this one ASAP. xD

So the literal translation is: "Gives him a smaller silhouette" By which they mean he basically takes up less space (with less flowing clothes being tighter to his skin and hence his figure). So, yes more slim I guess!

VincentASM provided some more translations too, for Volke. I managed to do Lethe as it turned out I translated it awhile ago but forgot to typeset. Then, lastly, all weapon concept arts. They don't actually have all the weapons, just some. I put a disclaimer on the first post from the book which explains the discrepancies, as it gets asked about a lot (see bolded below): Also, regarding Giffca's page, yes that indeed says Chapter 8. We don't translate the lines to save time as they are directly from the game itself. : )

I found the conversation. Yes, it is quite vague (with Muarim at least). "In the end, we weren't able to remain together [for life]...I still can't...bring myself to love any other woman" (Original): [ツイハーク] (中央右) そうだな… 結局、添い遂げることは できなかったが……▼ 俺は今でも… 彼女以外の女性を愛したことはない。▼ So I suppose the book does confirm that is the case. We learned something new.

Fixed that, thanks for pointing it out! Yes, it does make me wonder what exactly the RD profiles will look like, since this game has these profiles with support conversations in mind. I half wonder if they will just be the encyclopedia profiles word for word. xD Yes, it is rather odd... perhaps it was a young romance that left a deep impression on him... xD Something interesting of note, in his support with Muarim, he words his relationship like this: Zihark: It...was too much for her. We couldn't be married, and the pressure was too much for her to stay with me. But I've never loved another woman. To this day, I think that I never shall. And with Brom: Zihark: I had... I had an important girlfriend before. We couldn't be together because of...complicated reasons... But even now I still think about her. I can't get her out of my mind. I appreciate your kindness, but... Anyway, that's why. The profile used the specific wording ”死に別れた彼女" to describe her, which is "girlfriend who [he] was separated [from] by death." I should check the Japanese supports, but I wonder if that means she is alive in the English version? xD Or maybe he is just avoiding saying it straight? Maybe I'll make an in-depth post on it later...

I think I've made a full recovery! While I was recovering though, I managed to tackle some of the smaller/shorter profiles.
