Did the series not end with the destruction of Earth and everyone we know and love from the books? I mean, just saying, unless he`s planning on pulling an Alien 4, there`s really no way to continue the series.

It's funny how just days ago when those who disagreed with the rules and asked for transparency piped up, they were beaten back by the statement "If you don't like it, go somewhere else." It is a remarkable irony now that I have the opportunity to use that same statement against people who are now bitching about how unfair it is when people pile on religion. I predict this thread will be closed in fewer than two pages now.

Wait wait, you want to create a system which requires every "I like this post comment" to be reviewed by a moderator? As there isn't enough stuff moderators should be doing to have their attention consumed with reading 500 posts of nerf-tardism a day? Systems should simplify over time, not complicate. Plus we all know that "abuse" is a loose term, hard to define, and will in the end be very rarely punished. I'd rather keep post counts, or if you must have this system, give people the option of turning it off. The last thing this forum needs in more bureaucracy, especially since we're still in the test period for the ticket system.

This theory is interesting for me, being in Japan now, because I've noticed while they don't generally have a laugh track for their shows, every time there is any sort of TV special or musical performance or similar broadcast, an integral part of the show is a small audience that is usually integrated into watching the show with you. It's the strangest thing in the world, they literally have you watch some people watching TV. Sometimes the camera pans out to look at them watching it, and when the performance or whatnot goes fullscreen, nearly always there's a little Picture-in-picture display in one of the corners showing peoples' reactions and facial expressions as they watch what you're watching, like they're showing you how to react. Hive mind seems pretty hip over here. I, on the other hand, actually prefer watching most movies alone (or at least with people who know HOW TO SHUT THEIR FUCKING MOUTHS), and find the addition of a laugh track distracting and sometimes insulting, as if I can't tell for myself what is funny. In terms of group-think, back in the election I couldn't stand watching the presidential debates on CNN (like I can stand watching CNN anyways), because they put a little graph at the bottom showing an instant readout of random people and how well they thought the candidates were doing at that exact moment. Let me think for myself, goddamnit.

I said that I posted a lot of content that should have gotten me a talking too, I did not say I was a troll (although for some the inference comes readily). He's definitely an asset to the Democrats, as I see him voting with them on most issues (although of course being from Minnesota he's taken a lot of ombudsman-suited committee postings. Don't expect to see him vote against ag. subsidies). As mentioned earlier though, as a majority grows it is an unstoppable phenomenon that party unity starts to fray, mostly because party leadership has less reason to have unanimous consensus on an issue and are more likely to tolerate self-serving behavior (unless your the early Democrats under George W. Bush . who were the minority party and the less organized party... fucking pathetic.)

Well if you want to take them off and reapply them with fun reasons for the warns that works too. Right now all I have are about 6 warns in the span of a few minutes, and there isn't even any funny commentary to go with it.

I also apologize for the way I acted. It was unbecoming and, more importantly, ineffective in actually creating any change by being nearly completely malicious in nature. A suggestion: First off, let me say I should not have been allowed to post half the shit I have and gotten away with it. No, three-quarters. I generally follow the "I don't know where the line is until I cross it" rule, and if this forum has proven one thing to me, it's that there is no fucking line. Using the report button to hide the forums rules last night? I should have gotten warned for that (And if you go all ex-post-facto on me NOW it'll only confirm all the allegations I made in my other suggestion thread, which I also should have gotten warned for). The great thing is, this is easy to fix. Get some mods with some fucking balls. Or tell the old mods to be more vigilant. Doesn't matter. If there's a single propensity in this universe, it's that things naturally turn to shit without upkeep. And with no mods in sight, this place is doing exactly the same. And no, this does not mean "HURF DURF I guess I'll ban the rabble-rousers and call it a job well done," because you'll still have a fucking problem (not to mention lose some of your top posting members), and it would only be a temporary alleviation to an ongoing problem. The problem, plain, and simple as day, is this: Maintaining a community requires diligent andongoing work, and the actions of the administration of this website have consistently demonstrated that those in charge do not realize this fact. It's not magic, and it isn't something that can't happen here "because of the memberbase". Those are just cowardly excuses to shirk y'alls own responsibility. It's as simple as fucking doing your chores, not letting shit pile up, and spending time and work on the website. If you leave it to turn to shit, it WILL turn to shit. In summary, more staff, more strict but consistent enforcement of the rules. That is all.

How about when you get a moderating team with the balls to reign in shit before it gets of control. And by reign in, I don't mean just close the topic and say "Oh shucks guys really?" I mean publicly hand out warns, make an example, and fucking enforce your rules.

It's easy to dismiss the rabble-rousers as "a bunch of those generic ashtray trolls," because it makes them look like a fringe, outsider group. It's not accidental, it's completely volitional that this fake contest is being fabricated between only admins/regulars and the evil ashtrayers because it makes it easy to characterize as good guys versus bad guys, outside of the fact that I have about three posts at the ashtray and have logged about 5 minutes in chat, and most definitely have spent most of my time here since leaving FESS. But NOoOoOoOoOo, I'm a Blacken clone. I'm a wretched ashtrayer. Just lump this post together with those other miscreants, because you might as well not treat us as regular members. EDIT: As for me, the stupid members don't really bother me at this place, nor do I really think it has many problems that CAN'T BE FIXED EASILY. What bothers me is that there are backed up requests or suggestions in the "Important Forums" section which have not been dealt with or even received comment from the administration for why they haven't been dealt with, and the mod team has displayed never-ceasing spinelessness in dealing with spam and other normal forum garbage that every community website has to deal with. It's not that fucking hard to fix. You just need to, uh, not lose 3 fucking mods in a week, and YOU NEED TO FUCKING REPLACE THEM and keep forum members in the loop.
