  1. I did one of these before but quit at Ch17 iirc. I know I used a very large team of combat units because I knew they'd hit the level cap somewhere down the road.
  2. Kieran has Gamble, Marcia has no skills. I guess you can argue Makalov has "no skills" either story-line wise, but considering his supports Gamble would suit him.
  3. Or you can equip a Steel Sword, then you have 0% hit on all that has range, and he's not going to ORKO the guys he's attacking up close either. He only needs one Hand Axe throw to hit that Pirate to allow someone else to finish it off. Hand Axe is probably overall better.
  4. Kieran and Makalov had their skills switched at birth. Gamble and Tempest.
  5. Tactician affinity does not influence growths. Stop these rumors at once.
  6. This was interesting to read. It brings back memories of playing "Hard Mode" hacks of people just boosting enemy growths. It was always the same type of characters that become almost pointless, the same maps that become impossible to do perfectly (mostly those with a time bomb somewhere, e.g. Rennac taking treasure, Duesel's cavs dying, villages being destroyed), the same enemy classes becoming big threats (20 spd Mercenaries), etc.
  7. Not that I disagree Gerik should drop that far, but note that his joining map is a rout as well and he joins very early into it. He's considerably more useful if you fly him some axes to work with, but even without that he can promote, get danced to and take a considerable amount of enemies by himself with just his Steel Blade.
  8. Okay, if this is supposed to be for character recommendation, then yeah, Cormag should be around there. Though then again, if Cormag technically saved you no turns, and the goal of the playthrough that this list is recommending things for is saving turns, then maybe he would still be a "bleh" character.
  9. Shamelessy bumping this with a double post to say that the playthrough is over. It hadn't been updated since Ch6 so I figured this was in order. Again thanks to downdown151 for the ROM edit.
  10. I think it's safe to say Cormag can shave those 4 it takes to recruit him by himself. If he only shaves off 4 turns, however, then his net profit would be zero, which should probably put him below Duessel at least. But if he shaves off more...
  11. *glances over dude's isadora/jaffar post* ctrl-f movement ctrl-f weapon triangle ctrl-f ferrying ctrl-f range ???
  12. @anouleth I agree. The only thing I can see Innes beating the Cavs at is individual player phase match-ups during Ch11, Ch12, Ch14...and more mov in Ch15. But I don't see how this beats Franz's earlygame, Kyle/Forde's Ch5, and then Ch9 + Ch10 utility, and their mount advantages through the rest of the game. Of course, but it becomes problematic when there's other enemies around the character who gets Shadowshot, and the Phantoms have other use. Maybe he should be C tier on account of availability alone. Ephraim has horrid availability though, and Eirika also scores the rare bandit KO earlygame. Maybe Eirika should be under Syrene or something, but really, that portion of C tier is pretty bad as it is. @Cynthia It's not just staff rank. Artur has 2 more base AS: Lute doubles things with 0-2 AS, Artur doubles things with 0-4 AS. That's pretty significant in Ch5 already, and Lute is already a chapter behind. It takes a year and a half to get Lute even to L10, and Mage Knight only has 1 more mov than Bishop. I see the Don't Use! tier as characters that aren't helping turn counts at all when used in their most efficient ways (only when they're forced or there's superfluous room), and even hurting it if they are used seriously (like getting her to that Mage Knight class). Oh, and 10/1 Lute only has 11 Spd, so her offense isn't really put to good use. Artur's 10/1 Spd is the same, but now he just starts spamming Barrier which Lute can't do. Knoll's E staves isn't what gets him there, obviously...it's Phantoms, and the occasional ~20 atk (Flux) potshot. If you want to debate about Phantoms, sure...just argue them against a character Knoll is near. Gerik's Hero Crest is for, well, Gerik. The next one comes very late, which gimps both severely. You forget to mention that Garcia has Hand Axe/Hatchet, which makes him a fine choice to send out against individual 1-2 range enemies in a rout map or something. And he helps cutting down turns in Ch3, ORKOs things at base in Ch4, keeps ORKOing Soldiers throughout all of earlygame. Joshua's free utility is more limited.
  13. Promoted Wendy, unlike unpromoted Wendy, would be able to walk ahead of Douglas forever, without wasting one of your higher movement units on that task!
  14. Since you're probably getting 30 turns for that chapter anyway, you can walk him in circles by staying right out of his range. This might be a good case to hype earlypromoted Wendy!
  15. Download (IPS): http://www.speedyshare.com/files/22295783/FE8-dondon.ips After Wallet Pinching, 0% growths, 100% crit and God knows what other simple but fun edits, here's my latest invention: FE8 dondon151 mode! I think it would be fun to try it out without reading the changelog below, but if you don't want to guess just click the pretty button. I say, enjoy the mindfuck that comes with this.
  16. In fact, I've been told Hard 1 is Normal Mode without Prologue, and reinforcements at the start of enemy phase.
  17. Shinon > Skrimir > bag of sand > everyone else
  18. I think you need to use Strength on the ship or something.
  19. Seth can't rout Ch4 or Ch9 by himself. Or actually he can, but it takes more turns than using other units to clear one section while he clears another.
  20. You don't suck, you just don't play 14 chapters every day.
  21. You turned Seth into Marcus, so I assume what you're going to do with Eirika is take away 5 or so base Spd and put all her growths in the 40-50s.
  22. Nice stealth RN burn with Rennac on the knight.
  23. Did Aquilae just pass Colonel M in like two days?
  24. I usually have people clogged up in the 2-tile wide hallway and have the armors come to me. Which is annoying if there's soldiers behind you.
