What ideas for seasonal themes you would like?

We already had threads that touched on this subject a bit (mainly those "what characters you'd like to show up in specific seasonals banners?" sort of thread cause they allowed for invented seasonals) but the last one of these that I remember was some 2 years ago, still we had some good ideas there so I wanted to make another of these and see what are you guys' thoughts on this sort of thing right now.

 Anyway, what new concept for seasonal themes you'd like the game to have? You can also mention if you wanted some old theme to come back (like the dancer banners, pirate, hot springs, phantom thief, etc) or if you wanted some actual banner to be used in a vastly diferent way (say, the Christmas banner have more options for attire than santa clothes, for example) or anything of the sort. Also it doesn't have to be exactly a "festival", just a concept for seasonal banner (so stuff like the kid banner, or the fallen banner-even if that one isn't a seasonal- is on too). Drop your ideas away.

I'm a sucker for canonical alts pulled from obscure parts of the series. So the seasonal I want the most is a "Disguises" seasonal where characters are somehow obscuring their appearance. Such (canonical) examples would include

*Linde in her boy disguise

*Frey (or anyone else from the prologue) dressed up as Marth

*Gharnef dressed up as Nyna

*The Blazing Blade lord's in cloaks

*Mist, Rolf and Lethe (I think) also dressed in cloaks 

*Samto and Shannan just getting in the game more or less in their base design because they have small chances of being on a banner

*Naesala dressed up as a Daein guard

Potentially more I'm missing. Plus any original disguise that suitably fits the characters, like maybe Nyna stealing Camus' mask or something.lnfornsome kind of ballroom costume party outfit.

Also I'd love if Fallen Heroes was moved to the Halloween Seasonal. I love Fallen Heroes, but it does suck hat it takes up a main banner slot and slows the rate of new characters joining the game.

Don't care how implausible it can be. Give me a special banner where, for whatever reason, the characters have to don Nidavellir-built special armored suits.

That's right, a Tokusatsu Banner with elements of Tekkaman.

 I think that'd be a cool idea, even if there's not a lot of options, they could keep the theme for some 2 years and then replace it for something else if they runned out of characters to put there (also I'm sure Hector would get something like "Disguised Armads", that'd be just awesome).

 I'd absolutely be completely down for a masked ballroom like banner too, first cause I'm a sucker for formal year and masked ball stuff and second cause it'd resemble the dancer banner and the phantom thief banner which and I liked both of these a lot. If they seriously did that it'd drain my orbs instantly and likely be one of my favorite seasonal themes.

I'd be down for that! could be a Nidavellir cultural banner or something. I'd absolutely adore a Hel's "cultural" banner too (not sure if "cultural" is a correct term here though, since it's just a place with a bunch of dead soldiers...), having the characters use ripped up gothic attires. I like cultural banners in general, using it a way to put more pseudo mechas into the game would be sick (specially if it has some flying armoured suits too, or armour versions of that).

 

 

 I'd like themes that allow for more obscure characters to be in like the pirates banner did. I don't know, something around a specific class, or around religious characters or around something like retainers/loyal knights (though, it should feature the less popular retainers and characters that mold their lifes around serving or protecting someone) or dark mages, mercenaries (the lifestyle, not the class) or whatever else.

 Also a banner like the child banner but the opposite would be awesome. Unfortunately that one could easily become a bit problematic if they used it mainly to sexualize the characters or something so maybe it'd be better as just a concept, if it was just to be done for the creeps (like say, if they made Myrrh pretty much the same as she is but with barely visible chest and said "you she's an adult so you guys are free to creep over her). I always liked the idea of Adult Tiki existing and would find it badass if they did older versions of characters like Nils, Raigh, Nino, Sanaki (she even has a concept art for herself as an adult), Myrrh, Fae, Ewan and more, too. Adult Ylgr seeing Hellbindi and thanking him for saving her years ago (and him wondering how his own sister would be doing if she had reached Ylgr's actual age) would break my heart in a good way. Also, not only kids as adults but already adult characters as older adults would be cool too, I always wanted to see how Erinys looked as queen of Silesse and how older Edain and Tailtiu would look too, older Lyn too.

Oh, that'd be pretty nice, an actual day of the dead thing (if you mean the mexican holiday) would probably end up being less gothic and more colorful though but I'd be down for it anyway, even if I originally suggested a Hel's cultural banner cause I like the gothic aesthetic. I'd like a diferent autumm banner too, even if they did an extra one in september for a single year like how 2018 had 3 summer banners (with the extra one being the hoshidan summer banner), I think that the "tribes" theme of september will end soon anyway (I mean, what else is there? Ice tribe and then what? Maybe they'll shove a dragon tribe for dragon fanservice and that's it), they'll need to replace it with something else then.

 

EDIT: Illusion Nyna with Gharnef's voice (just for bizarre points) would be a ridiculously awesome idea though, and if I ever considered spending my money on the game it would be for this (even though I'm sure that he must have made an illusion for her voice too, otherwise... Well, it'd not have worked too well).

Yes, in the game Gharnef's disguse is flawless, just using Nyna's portrait, but I envision something a lot more hilariously bad. Frey dressed as Marth would likewise have the same vibes. There's also Gordin dressed as a Gra soldier from the same prologue (good an excuse as any to make him a lance infantry alt).

Gharnef also made illusions of Elice, Maria and Lena. He had them (and Nyna) all kidnapped to use them as sacrifices to Medeus.

So, we could theoretically have an entire banner of Gharnef in drag.

Well technically it was his portraitless Heretic underlings dressing up as the other three, and, alas, no one else in Gharnef's cult gets even so much as a name (unless you want to count Eremiah, but she wasn't in that scene).

Grima is called Robin in all the banners they show up possessing them, just have Elice, Maria and Lena be called by their own names but be obviously 3 old dudes in drag, Maria has to be the biggest one and have the deepest voice out of the 3.

We already have a baby banner but I think an adult banner would be far more interesting. A banner about teenage or child characters having grown up and are in the prime of their life.  The Blazing Sword crew is the most fitting for such a scenario. Rebecca from when she's Roy's milk mother, Lyn's adult form or Pent in his retired state would all be good candidates for that. Another possibility is Gen 1 Genealogy characters in an alternative scenario where they were allowed to grow older, or the Awakening gen 1 cast from Lucina's timeline. 

For Christmas I think they should keep the santa suits at home and go full Christmas carol. Find a villain and dress him up as scrooge, then have him meet three heroes to learn him a valuable lesson.

As for banners that need to come back. Obviously the pirate banner must return.

Gra officer Gordin would be a fun disguised unit. He could even be an armor knight to reference he's tied up and thus not able to walk very fast.

There’s also that concept art for an older Sanaki that went unused. I would kinda like to see that realized in FEH.

Nah, it doesn’t even need to be a villain. Just have Anna play Scrooge since she only cares about money and commercialism to begin with.

While not quite the same, characters who've been in disguise would legit be a great concept for a Ninjas banner instead of X base class.

I think clothes switching would be fun and making characters older would be really cool. I want to see an old man Roy, I think that would look awesome.

This will likely ruffle a lot of feathers, but I think it'd be nice to get a "World of Steel" banner where Heroes dress up in modern clothes, even if it's just a one-off seasonal a la bath towels and picnicking. Just so we can finally get more of Kozaki's "Modern AU Lucina" if nothing else.

Actually, I would like a return of the picnic and hot springs themes. Though people might think they're boring or that (in particular) the hot springs theme was just to see people in towels, these are actually recreational activities revolving around relaxing and being unhurried in the present moment. Things like that are soothing, and I'd really like that.

Another theme I've brought up in the past is a slumber party. (Heroes in pajamas!) We have a bunch of sleepy heroes who could qualify, too. Linhardt, Dweyer, Python, Haar, Mirabilis, Tiki, Freyr... I'm sure there are more, too. Dweyer's FB was kind of themed on this, but it would be fun to see what sorts of styles of pajamas everyone winds up wearing. (PJ's are about as varied as swimsuits, and IS has been really reactive with those. I'm artistically curious about what they'd wind up doing. Also, I bet they'd look soft and comfortable, and I need more calm stuff like that in my life.)

I also thought of there being a farmer's market themed banner. So, people selling veggies, smoked meats, or handmade goods. There are a lot of heroes who do these sorts of things, and heroes who would like to shop there, too. For example, Oliver is a collector of art, and we have at least 4 heroes who make pictures: Shigure, Rosado, Ignatz, and Kagero (I love this aspect of Kagero -- her unique art -- and it hasn't really been explored despite all her alts.) This would be a fun place for Forrest and Rosado to team up as clothiers, too, or for Hisame and Clanne to sell assorted pickles together. There are some big eaters in the Order too, so they could visit the food stalls. Honestly, this theme has so much potential with mini sub-themes for different years. I think it would be neat to explore.

Another theme I would absolutely love is a hanami (flower-viewing, particularly of sakura/cheery blossoms) theme. I know this one's really niche, but I adore this time of year, and have held hanami picnics for several years now. (It helps that my favorite flower is the cherry blossom, not to be confused with the flowers of cherry trees.) Obviously, Sakura would have to appear in one of these banners, but I don't see why we couldn't have a variety of heroes enjoying the trees and appreciating the people in their lives (since hanami is all about that and appreciating how things we take for granted could slip away at any time, so we need to appreciate them now while they're here.)

Edit: @DefyingFates Actually, I love that idea! I do really like the fantasy garb everyone has, but like... Alfonse in jeans, a tee-shirt, and a hoodie would have a nice, relaxed vibe, you know? It would be fun to see various characters in more modern wear.

Also, it would be neat to see a friendship festival between Nifl and Muspell, hosted by Leavatien and Hrid. I don't see them not inviting the Order to the festival since they were so instrumental in it. It could also be celebrating what progress they've made in restoring the two countries, even if they're not fully done with that yet. (Also, then we'd get a Leavatein and Hrid duo unit, which I keep wanting. They actually have a lot in common, even both being all "I will be the sword which (enter purpose here)" and being more serious/no-nonsense sorts of people who love their respective siblings.

Speaking of which, it would be great if we could get a Hel banner too, just because I love the Hel designs (and I keep hating that there are STILL no resplendent options for F2P.) However, since resplentents are a thing, I don't really see this happening, unfortunately...

And I've said it before: Summer Njordr trying awkwardly to bond with his kids (especially being all "fathers and sons bond over fishing, right? I'm a sea god. Freyr, get over here and appreciate the ocean so we can bond." and Freyr just wants to sleep.)

You mean sakura/cherry blossoms aren’t the flowers of cherry trees? That’s news to me. It’s awesome that you live in a place where cherry blossoms bloom. It’s too cold where I live. One year I went down to Washington DC with my camera to see the cherry blossoms (and art museums,) but the temperature ended up being 20 degrees colder than usual. Not only were the cherry blossoms not in bloom, but I was underdressed for the weather and cold the whole time.

 

I’m surprised that in seven years there hasn’t been a Sacaen banner. Not only is Sacae in two games, but it’s more important than most of the locales that have been featured so far in seasonal banners. Sacae also has a very distinctive aesthetic to be used for the outfits.

I imagine a Sacaen banner featuring Lyn (inevitably), Rutger (he’s one of the more popular Binding Blade characters, he doesn’t have an alt, and he could be part of the festival to learn more about his heritage), either Guy or Rath (I prefer Guy, but Rath seems like the more likely choice and I don’t think IS would use both of them,) Wolf (the plainsmen of Aurelis are somewhat like Sacae; he’d be curious about a Sacaen festival and he deserves an alt) and a duo of Fir and Binding Blade Karel (I’d like to see the niece-uncle pair interact more; Fir would want to know more about life in Sacae and her family, and Karel would tell her about it.)

Indeed. Sakura/plum blossom/peach blossom are actually more closely related to roses! They don't produce fruit, and are purely ornamental trees. That said, the fruit-bearing trees do blossom too, but not in the same season and they're not the same species.

Sorry to hear about your cold experience! I hope you get to see the flowering trees someday. They're gorgeous. 🙂

I always wanted a sacaean banner (I like their clothes a lot), I wonder if it'd feature mainly characters from Sacae like you said or if it'd be only 1 or 2 people from there with the rest being guest like the desert banners, I'd like it either way. The good thing is that this is very possible to happen, they'll have to think of a new theme after the elemental tribes thing ends (which I think will be this year with Ice Tribe) and when the Deserts theme end too, I think they'll start to go with countries/territories as one of the nee themes and Sacae is likely to be one of the first ones on the list.

 I also didn't know that cherry blossoms/sakura aren't the same as as the ones from cherry trees. In my country, the normal name for sakuras literally translates as "flower of the cherry tree"! ("Sakuras" is also right but it's mostly otakus/people a bit more familiar with japanese culture who say it), though probably most people mix cherry blossom with the flowers of cherry trees, probably the flower aficionados have different names for them even in my language idk.

Cooooool, thanks for sharing the information! That will surely be useful for me on the future, as a person that likes both flowers and random trivia.

 Also, what the fuck pickles are the same as cucumbers????? (I realized that pickles were supposed to look different and bigger when in nature and that the process of turning them into er... pickled pickles would change them a bit but never realized that they were supposed to be cucumbers!)

I found out just right now and man... It's like finding out that Santa isn't real but as an adult. I feel a bit dumb now, even, I also just assumed it was some other magical vegetable and never bothered to look up what it looked like.

When I was an older kid/tween I remember finding out that guarana is a fruit (at least where I lived at the time -not sure if that's such a huge thing on most of the world - guarana is a flavor of soda pop about as popular as orange soda or cola flavored soda) and I felt dumb as hell cause I just thought that the guarana soda was made of something that is... Well, not a fruit, like Coca cola or whatever. It was another Santa level of realization, and I didn't think there was any of these left to have as an adult lol.

Originally Coca leaf plus Kola nuts (botanically speaking, fruits). The actual recipe remains a trade secret (which means unlike a patent, it never need be revealed), but analysis admittedly shows they no longer use either ingredient these days.
