VincentASM
That Twilkitri is a genius sometimes. Custom squished text is ready to go! Although not ready for mass production just yet. EDIT In case anybody noticed, "Naga Icon" is the temporary name for the Goddess Icon. In the final version, we'll be able to use FE11's squished "Goddess Icon" text for its name. Edited August 4, 2011 by VincentASM
Seven Deadly Sins
Just wondering about the renames of Merric's Tome, Katarina's Tome, and Wrys' Rod, considering the weapons to match weren't renamed.

VincentASM
Just wondering about the renames of Merric's Tome, Katarina's Tome, and Wrys' Rod, considering the weapons to match weren't renamed. We felt that having possessive tomes and staves was a bit weird, since historically most tomes/staves have their own name (I just remembered there's Ashera's staff in FE9/10 and Tiena's staff in FE6). For the physical weapons, there's already been stuff like Gant's Lance, Rolf's Bow, etc. Then there's also the space issue (Katarina's Tome is going to be really tough to squeeze in). General Banzai
Cecille was a good name choice, but... Claine?
Celice
I always preferred Klein myself, but a name is a name. and I think there's an archer in FE6 with that name, but I don't remember D:
VincentASM
It's pretty hard to make a name like "Kurain" look good (incidentally, I've been interested, but lazy to find out what "Kurain Village" is called in the Japanese version of Phoenix Wright). I was happy with using Kleine (what the game uses), but the other team members suggested that it was too similar to Klein from FE6. After some heated discussions, we settled with Claine, which I think looks kind of okay. It also kind of reminds me of the Arrowspate's Japanese name, Quincrane. Momo
Claine looks a little more like a girl's name, so I think it fits better. Though, it is one letter away from Clarine...
VincentASM
Ahaha, I didn't even realise that. Wow, is Kleine the missing link between Kleine and Clarine or something? Also, inb4 anyone suggests Claire.
Celice
but the other team members suggested that it was too similar to Klein from FE6. That's a pretty bland argument, considering there's name repetitions and similarities throughout the series regardless :/
Momo
I can't really think of any other than Aran and Arran. In Klein and Claine's case they're both the same class though, which really makes me wonder why IS seems to like the name. Ahaha, I didn't even realise that. Wow, is Kleine the missing link between Kleine and Clarine or something? Also, inb4 anyone suggests Claire. Well Etzel is a fusion of Canas and Lucius, so maybe Claine is the same deal? Also, I was totally going to suggest Claire before you posted that. Drat.

VincentASM
Just a few more examples... Geese is a FE2 boss, FE4 arena enemy and playable character in FE6. Yodel's an enemy Bishop in FE3 and playable Bishop in FE6.
Jave
There's also Akaneia Linda and Jugdral Linda, although that one was intentional given the hidden joke in FE4. There are also two Largos. One is a boss in FE5, while the other is the one we're most familiar with.
Joerachi
Kashim was a playable character and an Arena Enemy as well. I think they did this with Gazzack (or w/e you spell it like) that one Archanea boss.
Crimson Red
I don't remember deciding on anything, but Kleine is somewhat well known because so many people have played FE6 at this point whereas Claine gives a little bit more uniqueness so it's okay with me, ultimately it's too hard to know what the translation should come out to exactly so almost anything can be argued... Seven Deadly Sins
Those actually look great. I'd almost go as far as to say that *all* items should have the small fonts, just to standardize, but it's not a big deal.
grandjackal
All this talk about Claine... Seriously, you guys didn't think to translate it as Crane? Like, after the bird? @ Vincent: Well, you probably know better than I do, since you're a lot more fluent in japanese than I am, but it seemed that she was malicious towards her father, acting like a debt collector trying to beat out the cash Dice owed her (or just wanted out of him, since greed seems to be a theme with her). She could have a reason to be vengeful this way towards her father, considering his gambling problem basically almost cost them their lives. Spoiler because it reveals a bit (or at least, what I could gather) from one of the side stories. Edited August 4, 2011 by Grandkitty
dondon151
The first time he went "Oh you can't use that, it's not what the game says" and now he's saying "You can't use that, it's not what we're used to". He just wants what he wants, not what's actually best. No, actually, the latter is exactly what I've said both times. The argument of the former is definitely supportive, but it's not the critical point. How are we so sure that "Klein" is the proper translation of the character from FE6? Based on the pronunciation of the katakana, it more closely suggests "Crane" for the FE6 sniper and "Klein" for the FE3 DS villain.

shadowofchaos
Also, inb4 anyone suggests Claire. Should I link the "KUREEAAAAAAAAA" meme video from the Tales of Rebirth Fanbase?
