It probably will come to PC eventually. PC is an important Western market for Falcom and having PC versions of CS3 and 4 also means having a majority of the series avaliable on PC (since everything sans Crossbell is already on Steam).

It would not surprise but shock me, if 3 and 4 do not get a PC port.

Would make no sense to me stopping to support a series for PC.

As for the Crossbell parts I expect a PC port as well, but it would be too late for me now since I was inpatient and bought a PSP with the two games.

Still it does not make sense to me to rerelease games for the west (CSI + II for PS4) but not releasing parts which are only out in JP.

financially, it does. Nobody except the absolute hardcore fanbase would buy those games due to how old they are/look. Especially with how it is to translate those games.

Or, if the game will be from Zelda's PoV instead, will she not be able to use the Master Sword at all, instead having access to Triforce powers?

Didn't BotW get people calling for a playable Zelda? Hopefully Nintendo will have listened and added one this time.

But, my question for a Zelda Mode, is how they'd balance Zelda and Link. What advantages would Link get to compensate for Zelda's magic? Said advantages can't be so strong in combat, that they'd leave Zelda feeling utterly crippled there.

I had formulated my own thoughts on a purely hypothetical BotW1 Zelda Mode:

  • Alt world obviously, where Link stayed behind at Hyrule Castle and Zelda was injured and but in the chamber. When Zelda returns to Hyrule Castle to fight Calamity Ganon, she'd see Link as still as a statue, holding the Master Sword plunged into Ganon as if it were the pedestal in which the sword would otherwise rest. Link, exerting all his might to keep the sword down, letting the malice enter but not overwhelm him, this would be his hundred-year sealing job.
  • Zelda herself gets everything Link does: Sheikah Slate with all its Runes, Stamina, Paraglider, cooking, armor, bows, sword, and spears (but maybe not two-handed swords/axes)?
  • Zelda also gets a magic meter with a selection of spells. What those spells would be, I'm not sure. But I would like her to be able to at least mix magic into her Runes. Electric bombs, Magnesis where she can set the metallic objects being controlled on fire or freeze them.
  • No Master Sword for Zelda. Instead, she can somehow unlock the power to use Light Arrows. And if she combines Light Arrows with Ancient Arrows, she gets Silver Arrows.
  • Perhaps reduce the role of the Champions in Zelda Mode. Maybe rewrite it so they fired off their Divine Beast shots 100 years ago and then died having barely survived and slain the Blights beforehand. It'd make more sense for Link to be able to hold back Ganon if this were the case.
  • In exchange for less Champions, expand the role of the three Dragons. Each has a shrine at a Spring where Zelda tried to unlock her powers. So, I was thinking of making them the gatekeepers to the Sacred Realm. In Link Mode, they and Zelda kept Ganon from penetrating it, barring at Hyrule Castle (maybe as a lore addition) and Naydra getting covered in Blight. But in Zelda Mode, the Dragons failed, and Zelda to receive the blessings of the Sacred Realm, must help Dinraal, Naydra, and Farosh. The Sacred Realm would copy Skyward Sword's Silent Realms- a higher plane set in the same physical locations, but this time it wouldn't be all stealth.

(short for Field On Enemy (in Japanese) and Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens (in English - Dafuq, Atlus?))

So both names are accurate? The Japanese makes practical sense- the FOEs are visible on the "field" of the labyrinth, unlike the random encounters everything else but bosses are.

The English goes in a totally different direction, some attempt to make FOEs sound dangerous, but in scientific classification Latin. "Formidable Oppugnant to Nature Ex-something?". I see what they were trying to go for, but they could have done better. Then again, the franchise has an English name that only makes sense for the first game Yggdra Union and Beyond the Labyrinth, the latter which never even left Japan, be damned.

I'll add onto to Armagon said, and mention that Xenoblade Chronicles X's map is divided into hexes. And those hexes can have their edges color-coded according to your lead character's level. The colors representing a spectrum of how much stronger the enemies there are than you, it isn't perfect, but it helps.

Also, XCX has Shadowrunner, which will for at least 20 seconds make you undetectable to any enemy you aren't currently fighting. Since Winged Vipers get Blood Sacrifice for a safe and quick 1000 TP to use Shadowrunner without ever having to hurt something, you can stealth anywhere this way. XC2 outright gives you the option at any time in the menu to make 90-100% of enemies nonaggressive too, and flip it back when you so desire.

1 (and maybe X) also have ether-detection enemies

Nope to XCX on ether detection. Maybe they thought it was too niche, since it was mostly limited to those element cloud enemies from what I recall.

And, ether in XCX isn't the same as XC1. If they wanted to make ether-detection work in XCX, they would then have to be fair and make other enemies sensitive/alert enough to get angry from using thermal or electric, gravity, beam, or physical attacks near them. Though they'd then need to add six icons to the detection possibilities, to fairly tell the player exactly which attribute(s) sets an enemy off.

I see.

I have to admit I have like zero knowledge about the videogame industry and their financial practices.

OKay, so here's a small crash course:
- EA bad
- Ubisoft bad
- Activision Blizzard supports a totalitarian government, ergo bad
- Bethesda bad
- 2K Games bad
-
mobile games exist to extort money from you

That's the game industry in a nutshell these days.

I wasn't critizising the name itself, I just found it hilarious how the English version changed a perfectly fine acronym. It's one of the things I love about the franchise, actually.

The lesson of this: videogame industry is bad

Ok, I know a bit about EA which definitely has not the best reputation.

I experienced it from Sim City and various sports games.

I know, right?

Ironically, it's the sports games that go largely without notice when it comes to these things. Though that changed with the recent Fifa 20 scandal and the new NBA 2K game advertising itself as a casino with basketball in it...

It's a fun shitstorm, really. Quite entertaining seeing corporate mouthpieces shoot themselves in the foot trying to justify their immoral anti-consumer practices.

Huh, Fifa 20 scandal?

I know about an EA scandal in the mid 2000s when 2K published the sports games for a few years, but I have not heared about a recent one. That said I do not play EA sports games nowadays anymore. The only sports games I played, were NHL, mainly because of the atmosphere (marvelous graphics) and the hilariously funny commentators.

To be fair, given that Trails is kinda niche, most fans will buy the Crossbell games if they get officially released in the West. It's a "those who want it will buy it" kind of deal that you see with a lot of niche franchises. It won't make groundbreaking sales but it'll make enough.

Of course, marketing can also help. Like, immensly. Idk about Japan but Falcom games typically aren't that well advertised here in the West.

I don't think it did but ever since the teaser for the sequel showed Link and Zelda working together, people want a playable Zelda. Some speculate that the change in her hairstyle, going from long hair to short hair truly a tragedy is to help with the physics of the game, to prevent longer hair from clipping through cloaks or something like that.

Well in regards to BotW 2, i feel like both of them are gonna be playable but seperately. The teaser shows the two getting seperated and given that there's a vast network of caverns and tunnels underneath Hyrule, i think Zelda will explore that while Link returns to the surface. But then that begs the question, how different will Hyrule be. Monolith Soft is definitly helping out with the world again but the closest thing they've done to reusing a location is Gormott in Torna ~ The Golden Country. Not the same as a game's entire map. If Hyrule's surface is explorabale again, i feel like there'd have to be enough changes made. Of course, that could likely be some good expireince to have if the five continents of Mira come back in Xenoblade X2.

So i'm seeing it less of "how are the two balanced in combat" and more of "how is the exploration balanced between the two of them".

Oh that's right, that is a thing. I never used it but i can definitly see why someone would. I just personally liked the thrill of making my way through stronger enemies without being seen. Like in that other section of Tephra Cave that opens up late into the game in Xenoblade 1. Going through that section that was teeming with Lv.80s and 90s was a fun expirience. Yes, i died a lot.

But that setting would be nice to have in XenoblaDE.

In other news @DragonFlames, idk if you've decided between the Switch or PS4 versions of Atelier Ryza yet but basically, what i expected happened. The Switch version looks slightly worse than PC/PS4 but it still looks great (you probably wouldn't tell the difference unless you side-by-side it). It just looks slightly worse in exchange for portability, which i think is a fair trade (the same thing happened with Lulua). It's not like Bloodstained where the Switch version looks pretty bad compared to the other platforms. So basically, PS4/PC version of Ryza looks better, Switch version looks slightly worse but still great and is portable.

Ghirahim did oddly have one pointy ear and one rounded ear, the rounded being the one under his hair. So them making the same kind of simple change for Zelda would be feasible.

Of course, that could likely be some good expireince to have if the five continents of Mira come back in Xenoblade X2.

A little Ganondorf unleashed causing some armageddon to physically alter the landscape is a possibility.

And yet, with the end to the Calamity, I'd like some rebuilding. Breath of the Wild was a tad too desolate. Not sure what they should do with Hyrule Castle, but some Hylians should get to putting Castle Town back together. Not saying we need a full metropolis, but signs that the civilized world is recovering. And not just Castle Town.

Similarly for XCX2, if they opt to bring back the old five regions and have unexplored continents of Mira too (it's plausible), then they're going to need really spice things up.

  • They could do a Gen 2 Johto-Kanto situation, where "old" Mira is a lighter on content than the "new", but that has some inherent unfairness.
  • Terraforming the old world because of some spoilers stuff we haven't a clue about right now is another option. Ghostification? A resurrection of whatever lost people built the giant rings in Oblivia and megastructures in Cauldros?
    • Speaking of tunnels in BotW2, changing the bowels of Mira would be fine, they're a little boring as is.

And like with BotW, I'd care to see some developments of the world. The wilderness of Mira is becoming increasingly known, humanity should start moving on from the small base camps, and build major works on Mira. In XCX, the only construct outside of NLA of any size is the nearby Lake Biahno Water Purification Plant. Helping humanity establish more of these structures, not a ton, leave some areas entirely untamed, but a select handful of vital projects like the purification plant (clean water is a must to live) would be good.

However, I'd add that the Ganglion have already built bases throughout Mira, and the Ganglion after Chapter 12 are reduced to remnants. Many of the Ganglion hideouts appear to be in fairly defensible terrain. Because they've already been built and humanity and its allied Xenos aren't picky, turning Hilal Stronghold into Hilal Settlement is a good idea. It is a better idea than trying to construct a town from the ground up, outside the Stronghold on the open fields of ash, where the Bismuth Xe-dom roams and the Unafulges, Aeviters, and Arenatects lay in waiting.

I doubt could humanity occupy every place the Ganglion once resided though, because it sounds to me like it'd spread things too thin. There are only so many BLADEs and Skells to go around, even with help from Prone/Wrothian warriors and Ma-non/Orphe technology, to securely protect every place. To be precise, the Ganglion have the following bases:

Spoiler

Ganglion Bases in XCX:

Primordia:

  1. Seaswept Base
  2. Bedrock Hold

Noctilum:

  1. Lakeview Stronghold
  2. Lotus Keep Building Site
  3. Ensconced Citadel

Oblivia:

  1. Mesa Fortress
  2. Scabland Fortress
  3. Jair Fortress
  4. Milligan Supply Base

Sylvalum:

  1. Hilal Stronghold
  2. Badr Stronghold

Cauldros:

  1. Boxtrap Checkpoint
  2. Kitsune Stronghold
  3. O'rrh Sim Keep
  4. O'rrh Sim Castle Ruins
  5. Ganglion Antropolis
  6. The Forgotten Mining Frigates

-This list excludes places like the Anvil Rocks of Sylvalum, the Bestial Utopia cave in Cauldros, and the Ruins on the Butte in Oblivia. These might not be fully formal bases, but they are packed with Ganglion and serve as small camps nonetheless.

This is true particularly in Cauldros. Ganglion cover easily half the Cauldros region in some capacity (though there are indigens too). The skies are even populated with their Qmoeva, Galdrs, Seidrs, and hulking Xerns at the very top.

And yet, with the Ganglion left in tatters following Luxaar's death, that should be reflected in XCX2 gameplay, with the Ganglion presence greatly reduced.

I'm fine with a "Neo-Ganglion" led by some Prone, Marnuck, Milsaadi or Definian who reorganized the truncated armies back into an effective fighting force. But the Neo-Ganglion has to be a fraction -less than half of what it was when they landed on Mira, I'd think I'd like- of what it was.

Therefore, something is going to have to fill in those empty spaces, especially Cauldros.

-Let me just restate that I like wilderness, and I want XCX2's new places if it has any (it should) to be overwhelmingly wild. A little rise of civilization would just bring a contrasting, new touch.

Nice. Then it's basically a toss-up, as both versions will most likely cost the same. I'll probably get whichever version I can find in store shelves when it releases.

Yup. I got an eShop card from my grandma as a gift today, so I decided to get Fairy Fencer f (I wanted to get it eventually, so I thought heck, why not now?). Having a lot of fun with it, but I can't deny that it feels almost exactly like a Neptunia game, from its gameplay (Symbol Attacks, character challenges, general UI design) to its characters to its impeccable humor. I've already laughed my butt off on more than one occasion. Such as:

Also, it has toilets!

A humorous highlight so far is the character Tiara, who apparently gets off on verbal abuse. I imagine she'd have a field day with Iris Heart (a.k.a. Sadie).

Yeah, I noticed. I like that you can upgrade your weapons and skills however you like and I am a fan of the fairy system, as well. Music is also pretty great, but that's almost a given with IF/CH games.
I also like how the game has its own version of "Teach me, Histy!". Though with how many tutorials get thrown at you right at the beginning, it's a bit overwhelming, really. I imagine I will grasp everything with time.

One more note: the framerate is a$$ in handheld mode. It's better off played in TV mode.

I don't actually mind it too much, because I tend to play Fire Emblem in TV mode, as well (otherwise, the damn text is too small). The Atelier Arland trilogy is another story, as is SuperNep. Those are good in both handheld and TV Modes.

Me on many days. I should really fix that.

@DragonFlames If you're interested, I decided to summarize the plots of Luminous Arc 1 and 2 plots. A little vague for details, but I don't remember everything, and it is made to be a nonsensical summary. I can be more serious if asked for.

Still, plenty o' SPOILERS, since this is a full summary. I've just gone and done this if the games interest you enough that'd you like summaries of them.

To summarize LA1's plot:

Spoiler
  • We're a bunch of orphans raised by the Church! With Sword & Rifle, Bigger Sword, Bow, and Staff, under Spear's leadership, we swear to uphold our sacred motto "Protection the Light, Condom the Dark!" -Or something like that.😜
  • A new maid who loves brooms, she's nice. Whats this in the middle of the night? She has a magic rod and shiny powers able to kill monsters? Keep it a secret, got it.
  • I have a Big Scythe, Big Voice, Big Beasts, Big Breasts I cannot lie! I'm the Witch of Immolation, and I don't give shit, so fry!
  • Maid makes a sudden public reveal as Lucia the Dawn Witch, and she leaves with Vanessa the Flaming dogeressa runs away. Oh yeah, Heath Bar With a Lance leaves too.
  • Vanny is found drinking at a bar a few chapters later. And you'll fight her again, as you will maybe four-five times total. Oh, and forget how, she turns Shota Little Bro's arm into a dragon's.
  • Dawn-Da-Dawn-Dawn Dawwwn! is back! And she'll help us cure Dragon Boy if we come with her.
  • Traitors to the Church! Die by me and my MANLY MUSCLES! -No, you want to harm Little Granny Frog Girl, that is unforgivable, die old man who is obviously overcompensating. -Or die another day, you will eventually.
  • Welcome to the Witch Village in the forest. Have your dragon cure, and meet the Witch leader.
    • And while you're here, we'll tell you that the "God" you worship is actually an alien parasite that sought to consume the planet long ago. We Witches are created by the planet to protect it. And, Ryms were dragons that protected the Witches. This village has a magic barrier made from the tears of the last Rym that died back when "God" was not yet "killed".
  • Back into the open air, I forget what the heroes did next, but they met their former leader and mentor Sir Heath again, as an enemy. Main character Alph defeats Handsome Blonde Spear Man in a duel.
  • Then, they go into a research facility and fight Vanessa again, I don't remember why.
  • AND THEN THEY AND VANESSA FIGHT ME! I AM A ROBOTIC GIRL WITCH! I AM A MAJOR THREAT. SOMEWHERE LATER IN THE STORY, IT'S REVEALED I WAS A LITTLE HUMAN GIRL SIR HEATH KNEW. I LIKED HIM, BUT THE CHURCH SHOVED A THUNDER ROCK INTO ME AND MADE ME THIS WAY. DOESN'T THIS MAKE THE CHURCH YOU LOYALLY SERVE MORALLY BANKRUPT TO YOU SIR HEATH? OR DID YOU THINK OF BETRAYING SOONER B/C YOUR SAMURAI SECRET PAL JOINS THE HEROES BEFORE YOU FIND OUT THE TRUTH ABOUT ME?
  • Little Miss Iris there then shows up at another fight. I forget why, but Lucia had a tsundere moment with Alph, and then he makes up with her just in time to save Lucia from Iris. It turns out Alph isn't likely the blood brother of the little dragon boy Theo, but he is a Rym too, and he makes a special Witch-Rym bond with Lucia. Also, the two rocks the brothers used as a symbol of their brotherhood fuse into the Macguffin rock called the Light Lapistier.
  • Back in the Witch Village, which has been left undefended with all its Witches gone....
    • Hello hello I'm Priel! I'm totalllly into smashing that unpolished diamond those wacky girls call "Mother Lapis". See I'm complete Angel, and this stone is stopping me from resurrecting God who is just like, the coolest! That invisible barrier like my braces that protects these unpopu-lar boondocks? 3-2-1 and I made it gone!
      • Minus the braces bit, this is how Priel actually talks.😫
  • And with Mother Lapis reduced to worthless pieces, in the center the Dark Lapistier is found and the Twilight Witch the last one arrives! And Vanessa still isn't playable.
  • Battle with that Iris Robo Witch Girl, Heath joins, more fights with the Church.
  • Church HQ reached, now is the time to stop "God"'s return! And, Vanessa finally joins as the last playable character just before the assault begins. She wasn't bad at all to the other Witches, she just had her own way of achieving the same ends of keep God from coming back.
  • I forget exactly what happened, but the innocent little boy Johannes who had the Mark of God and was the figurehead leader of the Church, ends up in cocoon. And, I think the cocoon was flown away by Priel.
  • Where did the Cocoon go? To Antartica! Here, is a secret research facility belonging to the Church. And here, so too fled Kingston, the de facto old man Church leader with an adorable face. The cocoon hatches and "God"- Zehaal as I think his real name is- appears. He is flown away again to the planet's core, to feast away there and destroy it
    • What about Kingston? Priel gives him a whole lot of power. Too much power. As Corrupt Bishop is reduced to a feral beast in human flesh, that is the reward for his "devotion". The heroes kill him.
  • The heroes hurry to the planet's core to kill Zehaal before it is too late. They fight his angels.
    • Master God, those meanies gave me a real ouchie! Aren't you gonna help save your absolute fave Priel? Master God why are you opening your mouth like that? I'm not a spicy cucumber roll! Noooooo! -Finally she is gone. (The cucumber roll bit is again my invention, appropriate for a superficial girl who speaks like she's a teenage from California's Beverly Hills.)
  • God is killed for good. But not without Lucia and Alph staying the core while everyone else flees, Alph protects Lucia, and Lucia vanquishes Zehaal with a super strong spell only the Dawn Witch has.

To summarize LA2's plot:

Spoiler
  • Say hello to Sir Alto Roland and friends!
  • Glasses dude has a lab with a orb in a square that he calls a "Runic Engine".
  • A chance encounter with a hotheaded girl who is a little witchy.
  • Josie the Pussycat is attacking! With golems! We flee into the laboratory.
  • My hand burns! Someone, yank the Magic Thingy I grabbed out of it!
  • I, Queen of the Kingdom, declare you a Rune Knight, now go forth and meet with the witches.
  • I, Light Witch Boo-urns, demand you Nordic Letters Kid to accept my Unity Ring and embrace my powah! And don't you dare imagine me in a wedding dress when you invoke it, that creepy.
  • I am Hilda With a Whip and Cleavage, except I was invented before her, I am not to be confused with the ancestral Witch that looks exactly like me in LA3. Anyhow, the Feline Familiar is my comrade, and I'll be fighting you. My actual name is Fatima, I hate the narrator of this summary who keeps not using real names most of the time.
  • Stop the Top-Freedom Witch who we just fought! And Chanson de Roland, keep making Unities with witches as we do this.
  • Oh no, Black-Ice Queen got the magic lockpick! She's going to bring back the guy who the world warred against 20 years ago!
  • The old Master Cervantes is free, and he's got the Soul Edge! The world is doomed to darkness! (Soulcalibur references, I'm making a handful more after this.)
  • Roland, I am your father!😱
  • To battle against Algol! Ugh! We can't win!
  • Novice Witch is suddenly speaking in tongues! And she's owning the Old Man with the Sword, but not entirely.
  • Pyrrha has been terribly injured by the cursed blade, and she suddenly looks like Elysium. We must find a cure.
  • And that cure is for Main Dude to become a MASTAH! Bam! She's fixed.
  • Back to this Wild Cat, Silver-Crown-on-a-Hat Girl, and Man Ruler of All Witches chase.
  • Open Conclusion Gate, end this game's first half!
  • RAWR! Die old man!
  • We were wrong to oppose Nightmare and Ivy? Noooooooo!
  • Kill the unholy fusion of man and beast! This must be the leader of the Beast Fiends we thought Fatima led! Whoops.
  • Her Majesty declares Harem Hero and his allies utterly worthless for all their useless putzing around that did nothing to end this game ages ago! To jail with them and the "I Couldn't Trust/Explain My Noble Goals To You!" Witch, execution awaits thee!
  • Freedom thanks to a bunch of noble thieves. And Fatima joins!
  • To the Rose Garden! No! Wolverine unpaused The Bachelor! We failed again!
  • Well, off to the final battle through the dimensional door to commit matricide then!
    • And I do mean "matri"cide. See, the Big Bad ran an orphanage and research center, or maybe it was just a children's hospital. Anyhow Mother Eremiyah fell into utter despair when faced with all the lives she couldn't save. Obsessed with creating new life, she created the Beast Fiends. Being insane and dangerous, she got sealed away.
    • But, I guess the seal had been weakening over thousands of years, and Beast Fiends started leaking through. One of them took the form of a little girl. This girl was raised as a little sister by a former researcher of Mother Smother who betrayed and helped seal her away. But, her "shadows" were sealed behind the 4000-Year Door too, so she gained immortality from aging. The little girl grew up into the Witch called Althea, who coincidentally wished to be as great and glorious one day as the individual called the 1st Mage Queen, who in reality was her evil creator "mother".
  • After the final battle was won, the world lived happily ever after. And Roland chose to commit himself to Althea or Fatima.
    • ~85% chance of Althea love, picking just the right dialogue choices for the Shadow Frost Witch is rather difficult I think. Not sure if I ever found a consistent logic to the choices that lead to Fatima. But, despite dragging me on a long chase, that two hours with her and the heroes locked in a conference room could have prevented, I still liked her more.
    • Technically, Roland committed sooner, since the battle before you cross into the Conclusion Gate varies depending on who he likes more.
      • If Althea is liked more, Fatima feels she can't trust everyone, especially Althea since she is a Beast Fiend, and she and the cat Josie must be fought again.
      • If Fatima held Roland's love, then Althea's jealously towards Fatima causes her to lose control of herself and become recolored into a Beast Fiend, and thus she must be fought.
      • If Roland picked Althea, she then attempts suicide being that she is a dangerous Beast Fiend I think after defeating Fatima, and Roland has to use an extra-deep bond dive (no gameplay associated with it) to save her. I forgot what happened if Roland favored Fatima, but quickly looking it up online, Fatima lets herself be stabbed by Roland, so her soul while near-death can travel into Althea's to purge her of the negative emotions.
      • Also, Roland performs a special attack after the final battle to eradicate the final boss and her world for good. It's done with Althea or Fatima, tothe one he likes more.
      • No, you can't pick a different Witch or other person. It must be Main Heroine or Anti-Heroine. Sorry.

Me on many days. I should really fix that.

It really really sucks. After the whole thing you think to yourself ''what have i been doing all the time?''

Luminous Arc 1 and 2 plots

I should've followed that discussion more closely, as afaik these games are by the same developer as Stella Glow, and if you loves SG, you highly likely will love those
