What is the best way to handle inventory slots?

Also FE10, because seven slots are very nice. Even four different weapons can't be enough in some chapters.

FE9 made it bad, because weapons and items were seperated. An unit could have a maximium of only four weapons. In earlygame it is likely that you have to discard a weapon, if you get a dropped weapon by an enemy.

For me, having five slots is just not enough. Having eight, like in Radiant Dawn, is far better.

FE10 has seven slots.

I like having 5 slots. 7 gives you more flexibility, but 5 forces you to think a little more carefully about which specialised weapons to bring. With 7, you could pretty much equip whatever weapons you felt like and still have space for a healing item or two.

Apparently RD gave you seven slots, so that. And when an item is picked up whilst you have a full inventory, it should go to the convoy, which should have unlimited space.

The category split of the inventory actually made sense when it was done in the original FE3 because that game had a lot of those Star Spheres that affected the growths if you carried them around. Why they thought this system would work for FE9 is anyone's guess, although it does fit the game's theme of bringing back old mechanics but doing them poorly.

Give us infinite slots. Let Marth carry a thousand swords. And let him throw them for good measure. Rain death upon them with my infinite hammer space!

1000 needles? :P

I think PoR and RD did it well, I liked the split between weapons and items, but I don't mind the standard 5 either.

How about 99,999 swords? :P (Dammit Cactuar King...)

Back to the topic, I preferred RD's 7 slots, though I also didn't mind PoR's weapon/item split.

Yeah FE9 is a pain before you get the convoy. I keep having Ike distribute his Iron Swords to people like Rhys and Soren, but even then it's hard to avoid getting forced to discard something. Thankfully FE9 is generous with money to where discarding isn't a huge deal, but I would still rather not have to do that.

Does anybody actually come close to filling the convoys anyway? The only time I do is during a ranked run of FE7 or something when you have to hoard a bunch of stuff for the funds rank.

As for the topic at hand, 5 inventory spaces is more than enough, but it really depends on the game. FE4 needed 7 slots, whereas FE9 really didn't. (FE9 had 7 as well right? It's been a while)
