When you don't know where to expand so you choose every direction...

IeOBogf.png

Giving this CK2 mod another try for a change. Mostly since development will slow down for a few months, so might as well play while there's no worries of an update in the near horizon.

Future connected convinced me of the following:

-Monado is Xenoblade's weak point. I am enjoying Shulk so much more without Monado/Vision ™️

-I do miss visions gameplay wise, though. Pretty hard to use appropiate arts at the right moments without it

-You can actually have fun sidequests in this game.

-Quiet Moments >>>>>>>>> Hth. No Bullshit requirements, and Voiced!

-Exploring in Future connected is actually more fun than main game. Probably because it doesn't feel as empty? Relatively more Landmarks, as well

-Melia shouldn't have been shafted that hard after Sword Valley in main game. Why did they add her crush on Shulk anyway?

-Battle theme super fit for the exploration

-Spike still sucks xD

-I miss my Agility builds xD

-Dunno what to think about Mario & Luigi pon attack replacing chain attacks hmmm

-I would totally play a game of just Shulk & Melia exploring lmao. Am i not doing that atm?

Glad to hear that you enjoy it! Personally, I am on the opposite end on how I view Future Connected, but different things for everyone!

As you can see, the tiles are all dark, meaning I don't know where to go. And to top it off, there are like 10? Pathways that are all very long and some simply lead to dead ends.

Enemies in all corners using rewarps, blizzard tomes, etc. I hate this deathtrap. And that's not even all of it yet:

See all those doors? Some of them are fake, yet they still waste your door keys, possibly forcing a reset if you waste them on the wrong ones.

Another evil thing about this chapter. And the Map theme... it's also evil!

Yeah Monado Shield and Speed are pretty much useless in Future Connected since they require the Visions to actually be used properly.

buuuuut you have Monado Armor, a.k.a best Art, so it balances out.

I-

Honestly, i'm not sure myself. But it was handled alright, so i won't really complain. If her unrequited affection towards Shulk dominated her character, i would've had more issues.

My favorite regular battle theme in all of Xeno.

Btw, the second regular battle theme in Xenoblade 2 is literally called Exploration. I do not know why.

In case you're wondering, Xenoblade 2 has four regular battle themes. Battle themes in general in this game are more varied.

I like it if only because i find it way more reliable to use than Xenoblade 1 Chain Attacks. RNG rolls for a second Union Strike is still ehhh but you can only extend it once so it's not as big of an issue as Chain Attacks in the main game being RNG-reliant.

Plus it just looks cool.

I can only conclude that whoever made this mod simply wanted to watch the world burn.

As you could imagine, I've had to restart a number of times already, considering the circumstances.

This. Chapter. Is. The. Worst. One. Ever.

Believe it or not

As you can kinda tell from this image, Kaga more or less used this same idea for most of the third and second to last chapters of TearRing Saga. And, the 2nd to last (not sure about the 3rd, I warpskipped it because the game was dragging 38 chapters in) has warping Gaiden-style Witches (and a few more Witches near the boss that bizarrely never warp at all).

This said, your fan hack is probably far far worse than this, but this chapter's darkness gimmick was no fun to me.

Will become the hottest weekend of this year with about 35 °C (finally).

Ahahaha, clear sign of having played too much Ace Combat. Looking that 35C at passing glance and be "Wait, where's the F?".

Also... are you glad it will be of 35C, of only 35C, or merely that it's downwards from there?

Yeah i've had the same issue with older games. I love Xenogears but damn, the navigation in that game is non-existent half the time. Had to look up a guide a lot of times because i was just like "what do i do".

Ouchies.
One thing I can understand is that it gives a sense of exploration, but on the other hand it kind of kills the pacing of the story.
This is why I love Atelier games so much: you're given a goal, but at the same time, you have near complete freedom in reaching it.

... So, I fell asleep at around 2 a.m. and woke up at 5 p.m.
What the f***?

Anyway, my last thing I did yesterday was try and find the Circle of Fire for @Caster's favorite DQV character. That dungeon was tough, the boss fight at the end even more so (I died).
I am very grateful to any JRPG that has a healing (save) point right before a boss fight, because my goodness, trying to fight a boss when you're drained of both HP and MP is... not pleasant.

Ah, yes, the Magmen. They only have 20% resistance to Dazzle, however, that doesn't matter for their flame breath. And the only protection you have at that point is the Magic Shields, though it's only 7 points of protection.

I've found Snooze to be a good spell for the fight. They have a 67% resistance, but just having it land on at least one of them can make a huge difference, and the enemy targeting selector is smart enough that even if they belong to the same group, the characters will avoid attacking the one Snooze'd most of the time to avoid waking it up early.

I did try dazzling them (one of the monsters I have learned a zero MP-cost ability that does this) and I experienced that the fire breath of theirs still hits. And like a truck at that.
Also, turns out that sabercat you have is actually weak to fire attacks. Should've known beforehand, probably.

I'll have to check if I have anyone with Snooze in my party.
I have Clayton (that clay/sand... thing), who has an attack that can stun enemies for a turn, but that doesn't seem to be working on those guys.
I also tried getting one of those Slime Knights as per your suggestion, but I didn't have any luck with that.

Thanks for the tips!
The trick is probably to just reach them before my MP for using Midheal (or anything, really) runs out, which - in that dungeon - is a tough order, but probably manageable. I hope.

He's not weak, he just receives the full damage. As in, 0% resistance, which I guess could count as weak. But then that's the same for Madason and others with natural 0% resistance to certain attacks.

It won't. They have 100% stun resistance.

Earliest you could've gotten Snooze was with recruiting a Dracky. However, Chimaeras can also learn Snooze, and since you're in the region, maybe you could try recruiting one?

Well, since you have Zoom, I'd still recommend you go back to Coburg and recruit one. They're quite good, and can learn healing spells.

Regarding MP, if you have the patience, you could rack up some tokens at the casino and buy Elfin Elixirs. V is generous in giving you a relatively easy way to buy MP restoring items in an unlimited capacity.

Ah, I see. He was seemingly taking more damage from the fire attack than the other members of my party, so I thought he was weak to it. Good to know!

I was planning to level up some, anyway, so I could try doing this.
Chimaeras, then. Alright.

I'll need to go back to get elfin elixirs, anyway, so I'll probably do this, as well.

Yep, Caster told me about this, as well, so this is what I will be doing next time I play the game.

Thank you for the advice!

Yep, I've played TRS before, so I remember that.

Boss is Vika from RD.... with 40 spd and a sonic sword, plus she moves... restart!

(Sonic Sword has 1-3 range, by the way.)

So like that time my brother had devised a knife throwing game, the goal to be throwing the knife into the target in a tricky way (throwing by the tip instead of the handle, throwing with the off hand, throwing in a particularly awkward motion, or any combination of various tricks), and seeing if the opponent could replicate it. Basically if they could, the trick was discarded and not to be used again. If they failed their own trick then the opponent could try it later to force them to attempt it. Point is, whoever failed to replicate five trick shots first lost. Catch is... he forgot when he challenged me that I'm ambidextrous. Ergo I could easily replicate his tricks with either hand, but he was at a disadvantage whenever forced to use his off hand. Easiest bet I ever won.
