Honestly I'm one of those people who hates the design, it being one of the few I feel that way about in particular. There also the association of it being another fighting type that they just made Dark to avoid backlash. I completely understand that people like the gameplay style, I would rather it were something else but I also know that'd be tricky and a new pokemon rep was inevitable, again I would rather it were something else.
