won't he run into hit problems? Like really big ones?

He had better skill than both mages, and Heartseeker gave him an extra 20% without needing anyone else's help. Lowest I've seen is like, 60% against ninjas, and that's without Heartseeker.

Admittedly, it's possible he's RNG blessed, but seriously, he's been really good. I'm not at home now, but when I come back I'll share my Niles

Also, what the fuck translators?
It should be "Wenn ich dich so ansehe". "Ansehen" is the infinitive form and is thus used incorrectly in this sentence. Friggin' hell.

Translator's favorite pastime is getting things wrong, lmao!

Bows in Samurai Warriors 5 are actually based. Never thought I'd call bows in a Musou game based (except Ina in Samurai Warriors 4 and Warriors Orochi 4), but... here we are.

iirc, Linkle in Hyrule Warriors is one of the best characters in the game so there's another Musou game with good bows.

...well I mean, Linkle uses crossbows instead but same thing.

Minor update on my gen 2 Nuzlocke: The Legend of Zelda the Dunsparce, got to Goldenrod and prepping for Whitney. Had a few close encounters that are revealing that Ruto the Totodile is not as good at dealing with fire types than I expect. First was the overleveled Growlithe from a copper that crit Ruto with a Bite before she was close to beating it, and I had to find an alternative to keep her safe. Fortunately Zelda was tanky enough to finish things off. Second was the trainer with two Magmar, Ruto beat the first, but the second higher level one whittled Ruto's health low enough that a fire punch crit would kill, so I tried the same tactic as before, let Zelda handle it...but after she took the fire punch crit that would have killed Ruto, she was too slow to go first and didn't have enough health to take a fire punch, and with most of my party damaged from other battles I had to resort to a dangerous switch to get out of that. I should have done an actual damage calc, but judging by the damage Zelda the Dubsparce took on a crit, and comparing the special defenses of her and Link the Heracross, it looked like he would just barely take a fire punch hit despite the weakness (and his much higher speed letting him get the kill after), so I made the switch, which proved unnecessary as it went for the much weaker smog instead.

Also I am a bit torn on whether I should play it safe and use my Goldenrod encounter to buy an Abra from the Gamecorner to immediately in-game trade for a Machop (thus giving me a pokemon with a super effective attack for Whitney in case Zelda can't sweep her) or wait to get the Eevee encounter later...

Has anyone here that plays game on Steam encounter an issue where in the case of a controller linked via USB turns off then immediately back on? It randomly does this and it's annoying me now.

Kenya the Spearow, best choice!

You could do something brainless and try Normal-Phoenix with the rule of Auto-Battle only (except when absolutely necessary- seize, chests, escape). See how horribly the AI plays when left to its own devices!

For a moment, you gave me the urge to buy HW Definitive Edition, except I played the crap outta the Wii U original and the game is so content-packed, even more in rereleases, that it's too much to go through it again. Even if it'd have a bunch of Legends port-added characters I never got to use. Just give me HW2 adding the Oracles instead, I spring for that in a heartbeat.

Glancing things over on a certain unnamed site, Crossbow!Linkle is like upper mid, so good, but not the best. I think the absolute best are like Master Sword!Link, Volga, and Great Swords!Ganondorf. Skull Kid is also awesome, Girahim is excellent, Twili Midna too IIRC, Hylian Sword!Link is inferior to the MS but still great. Young Link was incredible, but got nerfed in Legends, which I do not like being a fan of the Hero of Time, Wrathfulness and Innocence.

Bottom-tier I remember by contrast is usually considered Ruto and Fi. None of Zelda's or Lana's movesets ranked particularly high either, upper mid at best, and I read Tetra is lacking. -By hey, none are as bad as Lianshi's crossbow in DW7. And let me take a moment to LOL the concept of a tier list for a single player game as is necessary.

...well I mean, Linkle uses crossbows instead but same thing.

Time for some notes I unexpectedly took on crossbows:

Spoiler
    1. The Crossbow: a Handheld Machine
      1. Machine- defined in this chapter as “something that involves a mechanism”, therefore, crossbows count.
      2. Crossbows go back to ancient China, consisting of a show bow mounted “crosswise” on a wooden stock.
      3. The string could be hauled back two-handed by the bowman -and looped over a hook- braced to a much higher tension than a standard bow. The tension maintained until the projectile, an arrow or bolt, was loaded into a trough hollowed out in the wooden stock.
      4. Raise the weapon to shoulder-height, and press a trigger mechanism to release the string to fire.
      5. The loading procedure gave crossbows a much slower rate of fire than a standard bow in the hands of a trained archer, but the projectile was delivered with much greater force.
      6. Furthermore, the loading & bracing system of the crossbow was beginner-friendly, it did not require the long period of training to develop the muscular strength and calm focus of an expert traditional bowman.
      7. For crossbowmen, improvement was all about improving the technology in the crossbow.
        1. A hook on the crossbowman’s belt and a stirrup on the foot of the stock let a crossbowman pull with the whole weight of his body, thus making a tighter string, meaning more force in the bolt once fired.
        2. Lever added to the stock was later developed to add more weight on the bowstring.
        3. In the early 1400s, a cranked windlass (manivel) that could be removed before firing added yet more tension. This was sometimes called an an arbalet crossbow, and was more lethal than the early handguns (meaning not-cannons, doesn’t mean pistols, can mean early rifles) appearing at the same time.
        4. A rank-and-pinion mechanism was yet later developed at the end of the crossbow’s life before gunpowder replaced it. This type of crossbow being called the cranequin.
      8. Crossbows from early on fired a specialized projectile. A short wooden bolt with a flat base to absorb the impact of the high tension string, and often with a broad metal head.
        1. A crossbow bolt could punch a hole in all but the toughest plate armor. And on the exposed body caused a splayed and jagged wound.
          1. As early as 1139, Pope Innocent II issued a papal bull to ban the crossbow’s use in warfare between Christian states. -It wasn’t heeded to put it bluntly.
        2. A crossbow bolt had no feathers, rather leather fins instead guided it in flight.
          1. These being flimsy, crossbows were less accurate than longbows, with a shorter range of fire too.
      9. The combination of slow firing rate, inaccuracy, and lack of range compared to longbows, made crossbows comparatively disadvantaged in the open field.
        1. The exception- specialist crossbowmen, most renowned of which were Genoese mercenaries.
      10. The crossbow came into its own in siege warfare.
        1. Here, the garrison crossbowman could reload behind the safety of the fortress battlements.
        2. For the attacker crossbowman, special heavy shields called pavises carried on soldiers’ backs or in transport wagons could be pitched into the ground and provide that cover for safe reloading.
      11. The Roman frame-mounted giant crossbow siege weapon known as a ballista seems to have seen some use during the Medieval period, including at the 1453 Siege of Constantinople. But, the trebuchet was the much preferred big siege machine.
      12. Crossbows might have been preferred for domestic use. When someone breaks into your house, or you get into a really bad argument with someone, and you don’t have the ceiling clearance for a longbow.

All you'd probably ever want to know about the weapon. Well, aside from than that much older Chinese rapid-fire Chu-Ko-Nu.

Lol. Unfortunately I am playing with a species clause and already got Marin the Spearow. Also fun fact, but Kenya is key to the Gen 2 minimum battle run.

WHAT?! No Kenya?! Sad days... XD

Thats actually pretty neat! I always thought Spearow was a benchwarmer.

Hmm, okay, I think I'll start my grinding session to get strong enough to fight AE GoT's final boss. Gonna focus on the easier characters to power up. So a couple runs on the Spirit Trials AD to unlock 5* on the remaining Tales characters I haven't (so all but Cress), and Antiquity Garulea AD runs for Pain Grasta setup. Have been making due without, but it seems I might now have to use it. This will take quite a few weeks, I can see it.

@Shrimperor While you were tinking away at armor with arrows, I studied the tome.

Ghg0sbzn o

Well, he's not a destroyer of universes, but he's a pretty damn solid mage. Pretty decent hit against things that aren't ninjas, great speed, fine enough bulk to allow for nosferatu shenanigans, and +1 mov is a perk none of the natural mages have, so there's that.

As a bonus while I'm at it, here's a taste of what you've been missing out on.

Vhzblh61 o

Haitaka. Look at that. He's incredible. I shit you not, before promoting he already matched Camilla's offensive stats. And this is as a basara. Once he gets Rend Heaven, I'll toss him a heart seal so he can go spear master, and then his offensive stats will become even higher. Wow.

It's not disillusionment. More that I can't honestly say IntSys doesn't know how to make a good game anymore. Fates is just too good.

Aa shame I had to sacrifice him in Percy's paralogue because generic lives don't matter.
