To think I had all this stuff I wanted to post coming back to Teehee, only for it to all slide to the side. I suppose it can wait, but I felt I had to post something, even if it's a little trolly before I disappear for a while.

Teehee folks.

Sylvis got such a cool design honestly. Really nice color scheme too. Various shades of green and drab. Fitting for someone spending a lot of time in the bushes hiding and waiting for the opportunity for the perfect shot.

Worst part of any Berwick Saga run is having to play two maps without her being available, honestly.

Definitely one of the best designs in the game. And yes, the color scheme is super pleasant. Magenta and green are complementary colors, after all.

Vester is still the worst of the wonder boys because of the entirely ordinary incident, but I definitely hold a grudge against Vanmillion for stealing her from me for one map...

Yeah, but she is very much the main reason you don't need to worry about Vanmillion. So even when she is not playable, she is still the mvp.

I was hoping that as an NPC she could still train her weapon rank a bit, but as it turns out that while NPC Sylvis uses PC Sylvis' stats, any stat increase NPC Sylvis gains do not carry over back to PC Sylvis.

Oh, what the heck?

The quest giver left his desk because he needs to take a pee.

Come back here, you jerk! I need to take the last job you've available!

That's true. Those greenies wouldn't last without her artillery support.

Oh, I always figured her stats would be fixed. Interesting.

NPCs can still gain weapon rank. It's just not signaled when the increase happens, unlike with player units.

Woke up with eyes feeling bleary, so after the morning check o' the Web, I decided to take a day off from SRW GC. Try to minimize close-range blue light exposure. Let the eyes rest easy, let the ears drain of wonderful sounds.

Just one day's break, maybe that isn't enough, but truly GC is the only thing I want to play ATM 😆. And if I try playing anything else, I'll be afraid I won't get back to it; I fear my record of incomplete games. Better do a day's break now than "eyes so fatigued they don't want to stay open, yet they still don't feel good closed" right before the final battle or something.

Limiting screentime meant I got to some reading. A National Geographic I hadn't finished, and I began with an article on reproductive technologies. Some factoids.:

  • The first successful birth of a baby conceived through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) was on July 25th, 1978, in Oldham, England.
  • The first successful birth of an egg-donor baby (placing the fertilized egg of one biological woman in another biological woman's womb) occurred on February 3, 1984.
  • Since 1978, at least 12 million babies have been born via in-vitro fertilization.
  • However, successful IVF live-birth deliveries by patients across ages groups was only 37% in 2020. This is even lower among older women, especially those over 40.
    • The success stories can create the false impression that IVF -expensive and often not covered by insurance- is guaranteed to get you popping out a baby.
  • Lastly, you do have scientists researching more futuristic things in human reproduction.:
    • In Vitro Gametogenesis (IVG)- Creating gametes from stem cells. A same-sex couple could hypothetically make a baby with both their genes this way. Just take a skin cell or something and make a lesbian sperm or gay egg from it. Apparently you could also make babies with more than two genetic parents via IVG.
    • Synthetic wombs- For growing an embryo/fetus outside of a human's body.
    • However, these technologies are decades away. So no secret factories churning out synth-womb matured superhuman soldiers, or children with two genetic mommies/daddies, for the foreseeable future.

Only if it's southern front, Empire's perspective, the core heroes representing different strata of imperial society all fight to some degree for the promise of social betterment. Enemy Valkyria has Darscen DNA because mixed heritage, but she has no regard for race since she's a blood & steel fantasy-socialist who starts a massive rebellion in the southern Ragnite mines and nearby industrial cities. Her Valkyria powers manifest as electricity, and the volts can transmit her will, which she does to make unmanned machinery do her bidding on the battlefield. What begins as a fight against the Federation after the first seven chapters or so, turns to quelling the insurrection, which has the immediate effect of allowing a Federation + fantasy-socialists surge on the southern front, during which the Lead Male heroically chooses to be part of the rearguard and the last to retreat. This results in him getting captured and thrown in a fantasy socialist prison camp. And when the Empire liberates the camp, he almost gets killed when the camp guards decide to liquidate the prisoners, only waking up in a field hospital days later in the middle of the night, traumatized and screaming. It's only after this following his mental recovery, that Male Lead becomes a tank commander, to ease his nerves and keep him safe. The delay is because heroes' petty aristocrat leader and their lower class tank driver were Lancer'ed dead in an abrupt moment in the chaos of the Federation surge, their first tank obliterated the same. Female Lead takes over at this point as the remaining heroes desperately retreat to safety, and she becomes the temporary new tank commander when a fresh tank arrives. Said Male Lead is south-central provincial capital (so a smaller but not irrelevant city) son of bookstore owners who is childhood friends with the Female Lead, whose mother and stepfather belong to the civil service and Female Lead herself looks forward to joining the bureaucracy one day. Female Lead has visited the imperial capital up north many times, and is well-immersed in its culture, which means her background altogether places her on a higher rung in the middle class than Male Lead. Second Male is from a rural village in the western imperial provinces, so rural working class. Second Male has traces of Valkyrur ancestry, which don't offer anywhere near the same powers they do in females, just pinch of extra resilience and strength, which might've saved Second Male's life when he almost drowned once as a young child. Second Female gets stuck being the Darcsen, and of the poorest socio-economic background, industrial working class. Second Female does have a little contained-outburst when she discovers Female Lead is a Valkyria during the Federation surge, because why does she get everything nice in life?! And does express serious empathy towards the Pseudo-Bolshevik rebellion, being the most wary of the "imperial promise of a better life" from the very start. But, for a number of reasons, she never leaves the other heroes. Story ends with the Lightning Lenin Lady dead, but the rebellion as a whole is not quelled, for the sake of not entirely shutting the door on the direction of future stories. Nonetheless, the heroes live happy lives thereafter, ending with Second Male doing breaststrokes in the river of the aforementioned provincial capital, Male Lead watching with a book on his lap under a tree, with a gentle smile on his face.😊

-But who am I kidding? That ain't gonna be it. May it please be something outside of Europa then? Can we can get that Republic of Vinland/Not-USA vs. Unnamed Not-Japan war that was being hinted at in VC4? VC4 had tundra warfare, VC5 will give us tropical island conflict! Heroic Valkyria girl gets a thick stereotypical Not-New York City accent! Because where else is there going to be the kind of cosmopolitan people-intermingling that's most likely to give ya a Valkyria?

Yes pls!

JP dev writing that can be a bit...hard tho

Even tho even notJapan was not painted in a positive light in VC4 from that NotJP character. And NotAmerica...well, they made literal LoliNukes xD

Can be done, and i honestly want it xD
