Looks like the universe just won't let me not play Xenoblade Chronicles, haha. Was chatting with someone I know who loves the game a little while ago, told them about my experience with it, and they loaned me their copy of it telling me to give it another go when I had the time. When I played Xenoblade X, I kinda just made my Cross me. Not in a self-insert way but the customization options were enough to make Cross look like me so I went with it. I mean, I suppose I could retroactively make it an OC but I haven't thought about it. For context, I'm currently in Ch.8 of Xenoblade 2. I didn't use BEXP a whole lot this run but I'm aware of how I got a bit overleveled: Overkill bonuses. I basically went for Overkill every chance I got, especially on higher-level UMs and, well, know you know. I'll only buff up enemy attack and HP. A lot of people use "MMO-like" when describing Xenoblade 2 combat and while not inaccurate, that does moreso apply to Xenoblade 1 and X combat. Xenoblade 2 follows the general concept as it's predecessors but is a lot more combo-based. I'll be honest, it's hard to actually explain the combat through words alone. I can give you an idea but it's better to see for yourself. People use the comparison with Xenoblade due to how the fights function on a general level: auto-attacks, positioning being important, etc. It'll make sense when you play.
