I mean this is storytelling 101. As a fun fact, Vanillaware seems to like multiple storylines though 13 Sentinels is by far their most story-heavy one. On the other side of the coin, you have Muramasa (you might remember i played this earlier in the month) which has multiple storylines but it is very much a gameplay first sort of game. Odin Sphere also has multiple storylines and it seems to be a middle ground between Muramasa and 13 Sentinels when it comes to story involvement iirc.
